Went to Gloria's with a group of friends after a long time. We ordered the chimichanga and a burrito, along with frozen margaritas. The margaritas were really good! The food was okay overall. It was very cheesy, and I wish they came with a little more rice. The complimentary tortilla chips with bean dip, salsa verde, and the regular salsa were all delicious. The restaurant has a nice décor and plenty of seating. We were seated at a high-top table for six with elevated chairs. I would've preferred a regular table, but it wasn't a big deal. Beautiful restaurant! As a graphic designer, i appreciate that the restaurant, website, and menu are so visually tied together. I came here with a work group and we were seated somewhat quickly. First off - their house-made salsas and black bean dip were incredible! I could've made a meal from those alone! We had delicious cocktails and passed around a sampling of appetizers - pupusas, tamales, and plátano fritos. I ordered a trio of tacos that were great, along with a prickly pear margarita (amazing!). The brisket taco was the real standout of the group. From the moment you step into they foyer, yes there is a foyer and enter the main building the decor, the music, the live plants, the colors - ALL of it are straight out of a tropical resort. We chose to sit on the covered patio, think lanai. My husband and I couldn't get over how much it reminded us of our vacations to tropical resorts. The famous chips, salsa and bean dip has not changed, thank goodness! The menu hasn't changed, but we were able to partake in the brunch menu on this Sunday morning. I stuck with my favorite Tropical Salad with fresh mangos and berries topped with grilled chicken. My husband enjoyed the brunch menu Breakfast Tacos with fresh fruit and enjoyed the hearty portion with brisket. Ive dined here a few times throughout the years and I can write an honest review when I say the food is just ok. I've tried the tacos which are nothing special, the carne asada is mediocre and the drinks are decent. I've never had an issue with the service everyone has always been friendly and attentive but the food just isn't up to par. I'd only recommend if you're looking for a quick lunch but nothing on the menu will "wow" you. The drinks are probably the best thing here, keep that in mind. read more

Traditionally a fan of Gloria's restaurants but today when visiting this location with my dad and my husband the service was honestly the worst I have ever seen. Our waiter took a long time to come and take our order and when he came we asked for flour tortillas but they brought us corn tortillas instead which then after asking him he brought us the correct version. We ordered the steak fajitas which in my opinion were good but the meat was a bit chewy. Additionally we had to ask twice for someone to take the dirty dishes away. I hope in the future they improve their service as the restaurant itself is beautifully designed and has outdoor as well as indoor sitting. read more

Checked out the new Gloria's in Plano. It did not disappoint!! Samuel, our server at the bar was awesome! He greeted us right away. We ordered 2 delicious top shelf margaritas on the rocks and they did not disappoint. They were delicious. The chips and salsa, black bean dip, and green sauce are always delicious. I recently visited the new Mexican Sugar location in Frisco for lunch, and this was my first time experiencing the new space. First impressions--beautiful. The building is stunning, the décor is elevated, and the layout is much more spacious compared to the previous Gloria's location. You can definitely tell there was a full renovation, and it gives a more modern, open feel. I arrived right around opening (11 AM) and chose to sit at the bar. There were a few guests already there enjoying drinks and chips, which created a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The bar staff--two gentlemen--were kind, attentive, and professional. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay, which came out promptly and was excellent. However, the timing of the food service is where things fell short. I ordered shrimp tacos, yet a guest seated next to me--who ordered after I did--received his entrée (which appeared to be a steak dish) well before mine. Considering it wasn't busy, this was a bit surprising. I did have to follow up on my order before it was brought out. When my food arrived, it was good overall, but it could have been warmer. I also added mixed vegetables, and this is something I want to highlight for safety purposes. The vegetables included greens like spinach with stems that were not properly trimmed or cut. I actually had a moment where I almost choked, which was concerning. This is definitely something the kitchen should review, as it could pose a risk if not prepared carefully. Overall, I would rate this experience a 7/10. The ambiance, drinks, and overall quality of food were solid, and I will absolutely return--Gloria's/Mexican Sugar has always been one of my go-to spots in Dallas. With a few improvements in food timing, temperature, and preparation details, this location has the potential to be exceptional. 7/10 read more

They closed their Frisco location and opened up here in Plano next to Eddie's. This location opened up about a month ago - stop by! This location is so fancy with the decor! This truly feels like a major upgrade with the lighting and amount of decorations. The ratio of meet and cheese on the steak fajita nachos is quite nice - it's a very filling meal. This is my new favorite Gloria's!!! I'm already at Gloria's all the time, but this new restaurant is amazing! I love the colors they chose to decorate with. The plants are nice touch. The restaurant is bright and very spacious. The bar area has so much room for seating. My Al Carbon tacos were perfect. Took my husbands margarita glass that still had some in it. Took the bean dip off the table. Kept trying to pick up plates that I was obviously using. The bartenders and staff are super attentive and friendly. The way they move and work together is no small feat so kudos to manager/owner. You never have to want for anything. We enjoyed the people watching here, the area is busy with professionals and affluence. The food here is always on point. We had the plantains - a MUST - yucca and queso flameado. We were stuffed and couldnt finish them all. Usually I get the grilled skirt steak with chimichurri sauce which is incredible. Definitely disappointed tonight here at Gloria's. I usually come here with basic expectations because I know what I'm going to get. Seems like since they moved locations the quality has gone down. The service was average, not too attentive but polite. The food was not hot and you can tell it sat in the back for a while before it was served. Service was great and I liked the outdoor seating. The fajita beef was very tough and hard to chew through. The chicken was also tough too, but thankfully no bad or fatty parts like the beef. The steak Chile relleno was very good. The steak quesadillas were fine. Nothing special, but tasted good. More meat is always nice with those. The verdes enchiladas were good, but needed a drizzle of sour cream across them or something. I had to get some sour cream from someone else's plate to help give them some cream to balance out the tomato taste. I love verdes enchiladas, but this one just needed a bit of cream to me. This was our first time at this Gloria's location in Frisco. We had eaten previously at Gloria's Addison location. This Frisco location will soon be moving across Hyw 121 to Plano! Our servers were Alex and Juan. They did a good job in attending our table as reflected in the gratuity. The food came out very timely. All the food was delicious! A supervisor stopped by and asked if everything was satisfactory. Other restaurants could learn from this basic courtesy. This is a busy place on Saturday afternoons. Tried Gloria's for dinner the first time in their new location and was disappointed. Let's start with the chips and salsa - chips were fine, but the salsa was watered down. Not a good start. Ordered a frozen swirl margarita and normally this drink would give me a buzz. Not this time. Couldn't tell if there was alcohol in it. Maybe they're skimping on the Top Shelf? Ordered enchiladas- beef with red sauce, and chicken with sour cream sauce. The chicken was moist, but both sauces were bland. Like seriously-no taste. The rice on the plate was shaped liked a hockey puck and had the same consistency. Didn't order dessert. Was pretty put off by the food. I really hope they get their act together and stop cutting corners. The new place is nice, but I feel like they're trying to save $$ to pay for this new location. I'll try again in a few months. They got 3 stars for nostalgic reasons and a hope they get back to what made them so good before. But for now, cost cutting is the primary menu item. read more

From out of town on business. The ladies at our hotel recommended this restaurant and it was worth the recommendation. The chips, salsa and bean dip was great. Had chicken and steak fajitas they were delicious. Also had a frozen Margarita but not sure if there was alcohol in there. Thought the margarita was a little pricey for the size of glass. We went here for dinner after visiting Kidzania at the nearby mall. It's less than a 5 minute drive from the mall. We are big fans of Gloria's and have been to many of their locations. This location and the experience did not disappoint. We were seated immediately and within seconds our waitress appeared. She had a relaxed attitude when I said we need a minute to get settled and decide on drinks. Sometimes you get an attitude like "order now" but Christa was really nice throughout our meal. Eventually, we decided. I went with the "top shelf" margarita and it was excellent. Dangerously excellent if you know what I mean. As in gone in seconds and give me another! The wife had a Mexican martini and it was excellent too. I ordered the Chile Relleno with fajita chicken and it was excellent. The pepper is not deep fried but grilled so it had a smoky flavor. The chicken was also smoky and tender. The pepper is stuffed with cheese and chicken so it was a big meal. The dish also came with rice, beans, and an extra enchilada. I chose cheese with chili con carne. It was excellent. For $17 it was a ton of food and really good quality. Very pleased. The wife had a grilled chicken breast (sorry, forget the name). It came with an extra enchilada and rice and beans. Chicken breast can often be dry or overcooked. Hers was perfect. The chicken was moist, tender, smoky, and had great flavor. It was outstanding. Our server could not have been nicer. She was super efficient. Very friendly and helpful. Christa was absolutely great and I would ask for her again. The ambience is similar to other Gloria's restaurants--modern, clean, comfortable. There is a very large outside eating area for when the weather is nice. Overall, we had a great meal and a great experience. We do not go to Frisco very often, but I would definitely return to this Gloria's. read more

Let's just go straight to the food. I've had many pupusas in my lifetime, and you can taste the love & experience Gloria puts in her food. Soft, warm tortilla on the outside, and deliciousness in the inside. The banana wrapped tamale was perfectly portioned in regards to the rice and protein balance. The bean rice was moist, not overly cooked or dry, and flavorful. Service was great. Plenty of seating, and welcoming vibes. There's plenty of parking and shopping around the area. Worst service I have ever had at Gloria's. Came in sat at the bar and ordered a drink with intention to also order food. Was given the drink but was never given a menu or even asked if I was going to order food. I had to flag down the waiter after about 15 minutes to ask him if I can order some food. Once the food was ordered, no server ever came back over to ask me if everything was good. Never offered me any water. Was never asked if there was anything else I could do for me if I wanted another drink whole time I'm sitting at the bar absolutely no service towards me. However, other couples sitting at the bar were getting all the attention. Been sitting here for over 20 minutes no one has ever come over to take my check and my card has been sitting out the whole time. It's not even that busy at the bar. There's no reason why every customer sitting at the bar should not have the time and attention as other people. I should not have to constantly flag someone down for service. So 10 min later still nothing which is unfortunate love supporting Latin owned businesses but won't deal with terrible service.
