"Damn good" food? Damn frustrating experience! My order was placed a day in advance and supposed to be ready 50 minutes ago. I arrive to pick up my order and they say they are working on it. Because they lost my order. Good thing I have my $40 e-receipt and "your order is ready" confirmation emails. First and last time I order from this location. FAIL 5/3/20 UPDATE: After I was told by two employees (one was the manager) that they could not find my order in the system I find it ironic that I received a "your order has been accepted" email 12 minutes AFTER I left the parking lot in sheer frustration. So we'll dedicate this fail to complete incompetence by the manager and staff. They did nothing more to rectify things than to say I wouldn't be charged (um, thanks?) and did I want to replace my order and wait for it? You can guess my response. I told my friends what happened and they were as shocked as I was. And then I saw this particular location has a 2.5 star rating, indicating that leadership (Michael Rypka) should look into a thorough cleansing of this location. On a related note we had already inquired into organizing a bulk neighborhood order like we've done other restaurants during this COVID outbreak but not after this experience - Torchy's cannot be trusted when things go wrong. Update: gave torchys another shot since it's sooo close. still terrible timing for service. We placed an online order 3 hours before pick up and still had to wait in the parking lot for an hour. We ordered alcohol to go and that was missing, so we waited longer for that to be fixed. Get your website fixed to limit orders you can't handle! This is the worst place for tacos. The Torchy's brand has deteriorated not only in service but food and hygiene as well.Taco Bell has service and turn around better than this(and I haven't eaten at Taco Bell in years). Given that, I'd rather eat at Taco Bell, where I'd at least get food. We waited 15 minutes in line and had to sit outside because of the lack of seating (due to the inadequate staff that could not deal with the orders taken). We drank two beers. 30 minutes later we wondered where our food was, we inquired on the the ETA of our food. We were told that the ETA of all the food at that time was at least an hour. So an hour for 2 small tacos and 1 small burrito... It's actually amazing how inefficient this location actually is. This isn't the first incidence of inadequacy. The food is decent but service is horrendous compare to other locations. Came here multiple times on the weekend, got informed that wait time for 3 tacos for 2 people would take about 25-30 mins, always got food after at least 45 mins wait. Normally I wouldn't mind if I have time, but their lack of respect for customers is beyond acceptable. Now that I know their service is slow, I ordered online to pick up instead. I've been to multiple torchy and order to pick up before, and never have I ever been waited longer than the pick-up time that was given on the receipt, except here at this location. Most places I've been have the food ready at least 5 mins before the pick-up time, cuz you know, pick-up time, not estimated wait time. Anyhow, today I went there, got the pick-up time and I informed them I'm here early, so I don't mind waiting for the food to pick up. 2 mins after my pick-up time, I talked to an employee to get a refund so I can go back to work cuz my food is nowhere near ready, nor an update if it'll be ready soon. The manager came talk to me in a very condescending and rude attitude asking if I still want the food or the refund, and stated that I don't understand the pick-up time is estimated only, and the food should be out around that time, but don't expect it to be on time, especially because "we're very busy on the weekend". Excuse me, it was way past the pick-up time and I have other business to attend to, so just give me a refund. First of all, I didn't order the food at a certain time and paid in advance if it's not gonna be ready by then. Secondly, it's not my fault that your kitchen can't handle the amount of tacos that y'all need to make, and on top of that, the online order system already calculated and asked me twice to confirm that the pick up time is good with me, since the size of my 2 tacos were "too much" to get it ready at 12:05, so it had to be pushed to 12:25. Why all the other locations can get it done in a timely manner and this one is not?? Look at y'all review, there are more of the complains for your shit services. If your mentality of "we just can't get food ready in time cuz we're busy" then good luck staying busy. the worst torchy's. we always order online and pick it up. they haven't quite decided on a system for this, though: there seems to be one area for regular pick up and one for like doordash drivers but our order is always wherever the doordash orders are supposed to be and the lady at the counter snaps at me about it. like, it's your system. you guys all need to agree about what to put where and then stick to it. personally i think it should all be behind the counter because people act like psychos at the self-serve pick up area. also i'm just generally sick of restaurant workers barking "door dash?" at me when i walk up to the counter. no, i'm not a door dasher. i just happen to be a white guy in his thirties who always wears shorts. also the food is subpar. the last few times i had some bad ingredients - brown lettuce, brown avocado, food tasted off. after the last time i said no more, never again. i will wait until i happen to be near the spicewood springs location. there may be one or two torchy's locations in the austin-round rock metroplex i haven't tried yet but i feel fairly confident it can't get worse than this. read more

They give you a fourty minute pickup time and then you get here and wait another 40 minutes past the time. If you can't handle the volume than you shouldn't leave it open to orders. read more

Torchy's is our personal favorite spot for tacos and queso, hands down. They offer a variety of customizeable specialty tacos fit for vegetarians and meat lovers, making it a one stop shop for food lovers alike. Wifey loves the fried avocado taco, but then again she likes avocado everything.. hm, but on the real, the crossroads, baja shrimp, black salmon tacos, ALL delicious. I just placed an order today with a simple address. The Stonehill dasher person claimed she couldn't find the address, she called me claiming she could not find the address about 4 times. I finial tried to call her back a couple of times, no response. I am new to the state of Texas and put in the same address everywhere I go, the GPS will take you right to my place. i love torchy's. if i were rich i'd eat torchy's much more regularly. that's the only thing holding me back -- it's like $5.50 for one trailer park taco (their BEST taco -- you can quote me on that). i've also gotten queso from this location and it's just as good as any other location i've been to. best queso in the game. i admittedly haven't eaten inside the restaurant as i've always ordered for pick up, but the folks i've spoken to have seemed polite, so no complaints there. $5.50 is just too much for a single taco! read more

I enjoyed my visit to this particular Torchy's Taco location for lunch. Maybe it is because I wasn't in too much of a hurry. What I love about this location is that the patio is spacious and pretty big. The building interior is relatively new and our food came out pretty quickly. I always order a Trailer Park Trashy and either a Taco of the Month(depending on which one it is) or a Baja Shrimp. My wife's favorite part are the queso and chips, I definitely think Torchy's has one of the best queso in Austin. We did have a little service issue when my frozen margarita arrived after all of our food. I left Austin 2 weeks ago and I still think about Torchy's daily. The crossroads taco is the best taco I've ever had in my life and I can't believe I went to Torchy's 4 times within a week. The hillbilly queso is also one of the best quesos I've ever had as well. The flavors are so fresh and tasty, I salivate just thinking about it. This is my favorite location but probably because I always go there right as they open to avoid the long waits. The food is your typical torchys food,the tacos should be eaten as is plus or minus a item or two as the tacos are clearly designed with all the flavor profiles in mind. The staff in my experience aside from 1 or 2 people have always been incredible to me and hooked my food up as much as they could. My one gripe with torchys is they always have these amazing tacos of the month and then never bring them back..I don't think it would be too difficult to add more tacos to the menu. Honestly was not sure what to expect when my friend wanted to pop in for a cocktail but I was definitely pleasantly surprised... the drink were super fresh and absolutely delicious! Also the service was friendly, fast, and had a wonderful vibe were the entire bar was chatty and open... reminded me of a Episode of Cheers! I was never a fan of Torchy's due to a few bad experiences at another location. Colleagues dragged me a kicking and a screaming to this new location. I must say that I have revised my opinion based on this lunchtime visit. They were about a third full when we arrived so it took a bit of time to receive our tacos. The full-service bar with good pours and reasonable prices plus the Comp Guac and chips kept us well occupied. I don't remember their fancy schmancy titles but my Jamaican jerk chicken taco with mangos accompanied by a spicy sauce really hit the spot. Torchy's wooed me after I moved to Austin five years ago. Though I've definitely had better tacos since then, I still enjoy ducking in for their street corn and featured taco of the month, and I was excited that they opened closer to me in Pflugerville. The food and service seems about on par for Torchy's, but this location somehow lacks the character of other Torchy's. It feels smaller and sterile. And I was disappointed they they don't carry Maine Root sodas. Basically it feels reflective of what you'd expect from a strip mall interpretation on this chain, which is now spreading out away from Texas, and will probably look more like this than those OG Torchy's where I took my first welcome bites of Texas taco goodness. read more

I ordered a trailer park trashy-what I got was absolute trash. Huge Trochy's fan but I think I'm at the point where I won't visit any of the locations outside of Austin. My trailer park had the tiniest piece of chicken I've been served. I think I've had nuggets from Chick-fil-A that were better and bigger. I rolled with it but it was my bean and cheese taco that sent me over the edge. I have attached pictures for size comparison-it was barely bigger than the tiny sauce containers they give you. My experience was pretty good, but was it Torchy's good for me, I want to say my own experience here was decent and over all okay. I think honestly because it's a new location. Does it make it right for my first experience at this new location, I honestly don't know. But it does deserve a three star rating or better depending on your own opinion of your own experience. The place was definitely busy during lunch today just like any Torchy's whether new or old. Regardless, our order came out pretty fast and before our chips and queso did. Kind of great for me because I was able to finish all my tacos and snack on chips and queso later. Our first bar tender took care of us okay and got our orders out. However, she was no where to be found after we we're getting ready to leave. She did have our checks pre ready. Thankfully one of the guys we know from the Round Rock location noticed my buddy and I were ready to go, because he knows us from his original Torchy's location. I really hope he is able to train the new staff at this location to be like his customer friendly personality. As for the location this place has plenty of indoor and out door seating. I was shocked that bar does not connect to the outside like many Torchy's locations do. Lighting of the place is great, with plenty of great natural light. This Torchy's location has so much work to do. My biggest issue with the Pflugerville location are the wait times. They are insane. Is the kitchen not big enough for the volume? If so, the staffing levels are poor. An example wait time was today. I was quoted 34 mins for curbside order of two tacos. Seems excessive but fine. I checked in when I arrived via the app. A full 15 mins after the already long scheduled time my food had not arrived. I went inside and my food had just been brought out. So 45 mins to make two breakfast tacos. I've seen others complain about the chips and we had that issue this week too. Undercooked and impossible to eat. Please fix your issues! Good place to eat and food usually. Today the food was really stale chips and undercooked tortilla. The taco was bland as shit. Came in today and sitting at bar. All you hear is managers complaining about expo and people not agreeing with them all behind the bar. This should definately be takes away from customers not standing around doing nothing in front of customers. Also the 3pm bartender keeps checking phone and checking it while making drinks which is unprofessional and unsanitary when making drinks. So I love my Wife and My Wife Loves Mexican food she finally talked me into giving Torchy's a try. Went for lunch on 5/31/19 the line was reasonable and was moving. The order process was quick. The food was delivered very quick IMO. We got Chips and Salsa and I got a beef Fajita and my wife got a Chicken Fajita. My was not very warm but tasted good and I would probably get 2 next time. My wife said hers was hot but she did not care as much for the Chicken. We both loved the chips and salsa. My wife ate every crumb at the end of the bowl. We will come back soon. read more

I don't like leaving negative reviews, so this isn't an attack against torchys, but some constructive criticism. 1) I ordered a breakfast taco and requested no cheese, to which the server responded that the eggs are made WITH cheese. I have a dairy sensitivity and have ordered breakfast tacos many times, always requesting no cheese, and no one ever told me that the eggs had cheese mixed in. While I did learn my sensitivity isn't as severe as I previously thought (since the eggs never bothered me), if this had been a dairy allergy, I would have been in trouble. (Thank you to the server who alerted me and offered a different option) 2) The chips smelled like rancid oil, so I'm assuming they were cooked in rancid oil. Cooking with rancid oil is a problem at many establishments, I was bummed to discover the same thing for this Torchys. Cooking oil should be changed REGULARLY. the chips were so bad we couldn't tolerate eating them. 3) they were out of many things; guac, corn, several other ingredients. While this could easily be an issue of supply chain, it could also be poor management of inventory. Overall, I won't be returning here. Partially because the issues listed above, but also because the menu is limited for those with gluten/dairy allergies. read more

Their consistency in quality of food across all of their locations has been awesome, and I'm happy to say the same about this location. However, all of the staff appear quite apathetic about their jobs here and service ran a little slow. While the food was good, the low morale of everyone working here put a damper on the overall experience making it easy to choose a different location for our next Torchy's experience. read more

I normally love it here as does my family. Today was an exception. I see now why there are so many reviews under 3 stars. Food is always good but today, June 27th at 2:30 pm, whoever the blonde female bartender is, running around at 100 MPH being short with everyone. She was so rude...and said she was cutting me off after one drink. (a rum and coke that she charged me $7.58 for) Couldn't even taste rum in it. I've never had such crappy service in my life. After the up and down reviews I was hesitant on dining in since it was "Taco Tuesday ". I set aside all my expectations and we sat at the bar for drinks. Our bartenders Matt and Lance need roller skates on since they literally never stopped moving. Matt whipped us up a Bloody Mary and a Mojito pretty quick. A little extra Torchy's Diablo sauce added a nice heat level to the Bloody Mary. It was so good I had a second one to ensure quality control. The Mojito was not a muddled mint and sugar but a mix so it was just ok. Sitting in front of the well was a good spot to watch them make drinks. The Whiskey Tango and Tequila Temptress are on my list to try. The Green Chili Queso and Chips are definitely a must have. We ordered off the "Secret" menu and had the Matador, a generous serving of chopped beef brisket, grilled jalapeños, pickled onions, jack cheese,avocado, sour cream and cilantro. Served on a crispy corn tortilla inside a corn tortilla. Also a Mr. Orange taco, a blackened salmon, grilled corn and black bean relish, cotija cheese, cilantro & a lime wedge with avocado sauce on a corn tortilla.
