I can literally place an order even while sleep talking , that is how much I like Fried avocado, their queso and chips. I went after they resumed dining in after COVID-19 shelter in place and the immediate thing to notice was the level of cleanliness. There were employees making sure every table was cleaned in between meals and there was social distancing enforced by marking unavailable seats. I love Torchy's and I'm a long time fan so it pains me to give this locations 3 stars. Cons: - I've always seem to get a staff here to have a bad vibe, and not representative of the Torchys/Austin culture - examples over the past year: - bald/tattooed head bartender getting annoyed at me for ordering a drink with sunglasses on (it was on patio and sunny)... like I'm some mastermind fake ID joker with grey hair. I support the due diligence but the way he asked was kinda rude / annoyed. - i ordered Togo on the app but showed up 2 min later and wants to change order to dine in because change of plans... it was slow/ NOT busy... and she acted like i asked for something unfathomable and said can't happen, i could eat my squished up fouled wrap tacos here though - empty 9am morning , i get breakfast tacos and sit at the empty bar to wait , bartender days i have to move to a table... it's empty in the whole place chill out! Torchy's isn't perfect and it definitely outgrew its funky, old Austin roots. Also, if you really, really demand an authentic mexican tacqueria, then there are literally hundreds of other options around town. Torchy's does offer some tacos with unique and addictive flavor combinations (like the Brushfire). The full bar is really nice with a fantastic house margarita. Breakfast tacos are legit, and the queso is probably the best in town. I'm not a huge fan of the lines and crowds at times, but the food here is sneaky delicious enough to keep this place in the rotation. read more

If you stop by, order the queso.. It's delicious! It comes with a generous side of chips. Tacos were big and filling. Two is definitely enough for one person. My favorite of the two I choose were the crossroads, the brisket was tasty! Definitely order this taco if you're a fan of brisket. The barbacoa taco I could pass next time, the flavor just didn't do it for me. There's a line when we came but don't fret, it goes by pretty fast. The tacos at this location have been very hit or miss. Ordering to-go has consistently resulted in much smaller tacos (less fillings /toppings) then dining in. The most recent visit, all the tacos were absolutely smothered in sauce. Barely edible. They are usually much better. Chips and salsa are a-la-carte aka you have to pay for them separately. Not today though, it was an hour later and we still hadn't even been given our order. For reference; we ordered 6 democrats, 1 fried avocado and some dip. AN HOUR LATER we still hadn't even gotten our food nor our dips. We then asked for a refund, and found out that they hadn't even started our order. Got to visit this yummy taco stop while in Austin and it was an experience. I wish I would have had more time to enjoy it a second time, but simply walking into the joint was special. Decorated in a devilish tone, the lights are bold and bright here and you can't miss it!! The ordering process caused me a bit of anxiety because there were a bunch of options and then you're immediately put on the spot. As a newbie, I wasn't a huge fan of how small the space for the line was, as I felt I was holding others up while simply trying to read over the menu. The staff was super sweet, I just wish they would have asked if we had been there before so we could understand their process further. We ordered and took a seat, and within 10 min or so, our food was out. I ordered the Salmon taco and a Steak Taco with Corn tortillas. The tortillas were not my favorite at all :( A little too... corny? Lol But the meat and all the fixin's were great. I am a Pico de Gallo kinda gal, and we did have to ask for it along with sauces, which I assumed would be automatic but life goes on. Overall, good tacos, beautiful decor and good service but I feel as though I could have experienced the same + more at another joint. Torchy's Tacos is always packed at this location in Round Rock. I thought if I came in after 1pm that it would not be as packed. No..still busy. The fact that this place is busy must really indicate it's a hot place. I read in a review that the tacos taste better at their other location, but I have only been to this location. I went with the Republican. It's a taco with Jalapeño sausage, pico, cheddar jack cheese with poblano sauce on the side. The taco was good and it's a different type of taco that's not commonly found. They cut the sausage in half for the taco. I like the different names they give their tacos and the flavor combos they make for their tacos. The salsa has good flavor. We had some chips and salsa to munch on while waiting on our tacos to come out. The last time I came here I had their street corn. That was good! They have natural cane sodas, Mexican coke, Topo Chico, orange juice, iced tea and coffee. I definitely need to try some different tacos. The taco of the month currently is The American. They combine crispy fried chicken with pineapple slaw, but I didn't think I would like the sweetness combined with the other stuff. I placed an online order for curbside pickup. The time estimate for me to be there was 9:20 PM. I arrived at 9:25 PM and pulled into space 3. I texted to let them know I was there. The car next to me in 2, after I had waited about 7 minutes, went in to get their order. During this time, another curbside customer pulled into 1. After the #2 person came back out, I texted again that I was here for my order. After another 5 minutes, the customer in #1 got tired of waiting and went in to get their food. I was done at this point. I called the location and asked for a manager. I told the lady I wanted to cancel my order. She confirmed who I was, said it would take 22 hours for it to go back to my card and sounded like she was going to hang up. No apology, no questions as to why I was cancelling, or any concern at all really. I managed to stop her and told her she might want to know why I was upset. I explained what happened and that it had happened to two other people while I was waiting. She mumbled something about not having enough people to check the phone. Still little concern it seemed. She then said it was ready if I wanted to get it. Flabbergasted, I told her I wanted it cancelled still, I was only trying to make her understand that her location was completely dropping the ball on curbside. She said no problem and hoped I had a better night... If this is the level of concern a manager can struggle to put forth, then you can tell they just don't care. Unfortunately the contact page for Torchys just tells you to call the location, so apparently corporate doesn't give AF either. Sadly this seems to be endemic with multiple locations, which sucks as they are celiac friendly. If you read the negative reviews, they normally aren't about the food, but the quality of service. Torchy's needs to look into this or they will start losing customers. Chipotle is fairly celiac friendly as well so if this keeps up, I might move more of my business there. I was told that Torchy's has the best tacos around so we had to get some before leaving Texas. I was impressed and it does live up to the hype! Being a noob at ordering, I only ordered two tacos to share, which were both delicious and full of flavor! I went with the Democrat, which had beef barbacoa, avocado, cilantro, and onions. Loved it! I tried a bite of the Brushfire, which had Jamaican Jerk Chicken and mango. It was interesting. I added a side of guacamole and it was amazing and had a hint of jalapeno pepper in it. I just ate it straight without chips. I also ordered a chicken grande burrito (no beans). It was great and a satisfying way to end this Texas trip. I love Torchy's! There are so many good things about eating here! The sauces that come with each taco are great, the tacos are filled full of tasty meat, cheese and toppings. They are flexible so if you want to change the ingredients around they oblige. If you order your taco trashy it comes with queso. BTW...they have amazing queso! My only complaint is that they don't have nachos on the menu. I improvise and order a side of the green chili pork with the queso and make my own. The breakfast tacos are available all day. They are good too! The first time I ordered one I thought they forgot my tortilla but it had so much stuff on it I couldn't see it. Get the Republican, grilled jalapeño sausage, shredded cheese & pico. The side of the poblano sauce is amazing. So much sausage and yummy. The Trailer Park, fried chicken, used to be my favorite but I burnt myself out on this one. Definitely get it trashy! The Baja Shrimp is great, I order it grilled instead of fried. And the Fried Avocado is surprising great! My vegetarian niece orders this and it is really good! My all time favorite is the Green Chili Pork. Be careful how many you order. What a great intro to TexMex! I'm aware this is a chain but it's a darn good one. The margaritas don't have an ounce of heartburn inducing sweet and sour mix in them, the green chili queso is off the chain, and the trailer park taco is my new favorite. Before me moved here i did some research on here for good tacos. Tacos are my favorite. One day we were looking for something to eat and we said score we found Torchy's. Loved they had a diet Mexican cola. The red salsa and guacamole were great. Could use a little salt and lime juice so we added a little each time we took a chip. It was great. The tacos on the other hand were not good. It was way over spiced. I'm not a big cumin fan and i could taste it. I got the brisket and I'm sorry smoked Meat don't belong on a taco. The shrimp taco was okay because i just ate the shrimp off. A little tuff but i made it work. My family got the breakfast tacos and they said they were good but taste like the ones we make at home. Arrived in Texas today and my brother and his family wanted to treat me to the Torchy's experience. It was excellent. Maybe a little overwhelming for a first visit since they have so many options - even a secret menu - but delicious. Alex took our order and he was great. Honest with recommendations, glad to take a minute to show me where to find things like to go containers ... just pleasant and welcoming and helped make my first visit to Torchy's a better one. After their manager literally ran my wife and her very well trained dog not just out of the outside porch of the restaurant but then chased her to her car and ran her off the entire property... They now have no pet signs posted everywhere. I asked about it yet again and they said it was OK for the pets to be outside. I then pointed out their giant no pets sign posted everywhere outside and in and they acted like they'd never seen them before. So today was my 1st time eating at Torchy's Tacos & I have to say for me it was just.......ok. I had a Wranger Taco & migas taco & both were just ok & lacking in taste & I didn't like the way the egg in the tacos were cooked flat & not actually scrambled..like normal scrambled. I was expecting sooooo much more with my hubby always talking about the to go tacos being really good & of course the Yelp reviews so needless to say I guess my tastebuds just didn't get the memo on how tasty & yummy Torchy's Tacos are suppose to be. BUT I will say I was surprised to see that Torchy's has alcoholic drinks since I was thinking it was just a taco place so of course it being 11:30am when we were there I had to drink a mimosa & that sucker was the bomb.com!!! Love me some tacos! The staff is always great and friendly. I have enjoyed most of the tacos on the menu. My favorites are the Trailer park, Alabama shake, and Baja shrimp. The chips and queso are really good too. That being said I am not a big fan of their breakfast tacos. The breakfast tacos are big and filling but for some reason they don't hit the spot. On Friday I like to enjoy a peg leg, which is a margarita with a corona tipped in it. Hits the spot on a Friday after work. Went to Torchys two weeks ago at a different location, my husband ordered Ace of Spades. Suddenly they don't have it anymore, which is fine but when asked, staff was extremely rude and proceeded to speak to us like we couldn't afford the add on prices. When asked for sweet tea, staff was once again rude. RBF is not place for people in hospitality. Very rushed. ZERO personality. Will not return to this location. I've been following this company since the beginning and this location does NOT give the true torchys vibe. Drive a little further to the location of 1431. Better people. Better experience.
