Placed an order for pickup through DD this evening. My wife went to pick it up. Waited for almost an hour. (Busy, understandably) Then manager (Val) canceled our order when it did come up and blamed it on her cashier. (Who my wife had been in constant contact with checking on the order.) Once we asked about our order, Val was defensive and not apologetic in the slightest about the situation. In the end, she offered $20 in "burn cards" without an apology. Worst management I have experienced in a very long time. I do not recommend this location no matter how close you are. Your best bet is either going into Pflugerville or going to the one right off of 35. Avoid this location at all costs. (Especially if Val is managing) I will say, the food was as it always is. My family likes eating here For the most part. I felt the place is a bit overrated. I got the burrito and it was ok. The overall restaurant was packed and appeared dirty with ice ever y the sides machine and on the floor. The food took a while to come out and asked someone to check on my order. My husband, and I have lived in Texas for a few years, and had heard alot of positive feed back regarding Torchy's, so we decided to give it a try. The location in Round Rock was so busy! So we waited in line for several minutes. It seemed like they might have been under staffed that day. However, my husband, and I perservered. When we finally ordered our food, my husband ordered a side of queso, along with 4 soft chicken tacos. I am not a fan of spicy food, so I ordered 2 chicken soft tacos (mild). I was assured by the guy taking my order that my order would be mild, and tasty. The soft tacos that we received we quite small, and expensive. My husband felt like he was eating a tasteless, spicy taco. More heat, witn very little flavor. My 2 tacos were too spicy too eat, with very little flavor. Torchy's has mostly done right by me all the times I've been here. In every location, it's been bustling and the quality of food is consistent, but let's talk more specifically about the Round Rock location. If you come when most people want to eat, expect this place to be packed. That's not a bad thing, but it is quite chaotic from people standing trying to figure out if there's a line to the people standing around waiting for their food. Both seating and parking end up being negatively impact by it. It does however, live up to the "you need to try it" mantra when though it's in Round Rock and not a food truck. It still feels very Austin in it's design aesthetic. The t-shirts are funny, the artwork and workers are often "weird" and they mix up the menu enough to keep it feeling fresh. I also enjoy that they craft things my way easily enough, since I always ask for my tacos in a bowl as of late. The tacos have their own reputation. Many locals have an absolute favorite and understandably so. It's good, and deserves a visit and will likely be talked about many years to come. I got the Brushfire, Green Chile Pork, and Baja Shrimp (grilled), all with flour tortillas, no substitutions. All three were A M A Z I N G. Normal people should probably go with two tacos, most days, not the glutinous three I opted for, as it did cause some pain. But, it was well worth it. My friend went with the Trailer Park and the Steak Fajita tacos, along with beans and rice. I'm so done with this location. Four months ago I ordered a few things for carry out and one of them was the matador taco. When I got home and was eating the taco, two bites in, I pulled out a long, dark hair! It was all twisted and tangled up with the brisket. I was so disgusted, I trashed all the food we bought. Time passed and I completely forgot about that incident until tonight. Today, we were really craving their food and called in a curbside order. We pulled up and called them again and were told to drive up to one of the spots and text the location number located in the spot we were parked. I parked and we immediately texted the number. Instructions are given at each spot along with the number to text and the location number. It also states "don't leave your vehicle." Fifteen minutes went by and we started to wonder if maybe they didnt receive our info (the system never sent back any sort of confirmation). So, we started calling the main number and kept getting a busy signal. By then, it had been 30 minutes since we had placed the order. Everytime I've been to a Torchy's Tacos, it is poppin! Be prepared for it to be busy. If you are trying to dine here it might be hard to find a table right away. Since it's a seat yourself kinda place, the turnaround for tables isn't too bad though. You order up at the counter, grab a placard with your number, and wait for your food to be brought out to you. Since I've had Torchy's a couple of times, I've made it a habit to try new tacos each time. The cool thing is that if you don't want a taco just because of the tortilla type or sauce - that can be changed! Just mention it during your order, the sauces actually come out in containers instead of on your tacos anyways. I don't think I really have anything negative to say about any of the tacos that I've tried. All of them are extremely flavorful and I love the variety. The biggest downside to Torchy's has to be the price. The tacos are a bit pricey - be prepared to shell out roughly around $5 for a taco. Even with the price, I'm a fan! Today I ordered using their online system. It doesn't give you the option to add things so I called immediately after I ordered and spoke to a woman to fix my order. She assured me that it would be done correctly. I knew I should've checked before I left bc they have messed up my order multiple times. I was wrong. I got home and 2 of my tacos were incorrect. I called and they offered to remake it or to refund me. I asked them to remake it. I went to pick it up and AGAIN one of my tacos is wrong. Torchy's staff AND management attempted to justify this by claiming the ice machine was broken and they were only providing ice (in clear plastic cups) from the bar for alcoholic drinks, despite giving ice to white customers clearly drinking fountain drinks. We went at 2pm on a Sunday and it still had a crazy lunch crowd. We waited for several minutes for our chips and guacamole but the chips were fresh from the fryer and the guacamole was fresh. There was one time in particular where they missed a taco on our order and brought it out quickly without charging us for it (we ordered 4, they charged us for 3). They do a pretty good job of keeping up with their dining rooms and tables being clean but if you go in during a busy time you will probably have to clean off the table for yourself.
