We've had good service and good food here for a few years except tonight. Overheard our waitress (Mimi) mocking me right in front of our table because I sent my order back. The chicken was dry and stringy and beans were burned around edge of plate. I've never had to send anything back at this restaurant in the years we've been coming here. Went for dinner while working a trade show at a local hotel. Was pleasantly surprised! Staff was friendly and super efficient. I was expecting typical mall level of food, but actually got excellent food and great service! I had carnitas and the intern had a burrito. The carnitas was sliced so we was leery, but again was surprised, it was delicious! Friend's burrito was huge and reportedly delicious also. Like others, not the old Torero's. The food was 2 on a scale of 1-10, the service was slow. We order fajitas and an a couple other dishes to split. We asked for extra tortillas and were told they were $1.29 extra. REALLY, for a flour tortilla! Her response when asked why so much was "times are hard all over" Well they must be really hard for Torero's to charge for an extra tortilla! Went to the manager on the way out just to suggest they shouldn't charge extra for a simple tortilla especially when out tab was over $120. She couldn't care less and waved her hand at me to hurry up. Had her purse over her shoulder like she was off work and couldn't wait to get out of there. My sentiments exactly! Got chili verde. It was okay. It was tender and cooked well, however. It meets what you'd expect of chili verde, it's just I've had better closer to home. The environment was nice and open. It's located on a busy corner so parking may not be convenient. There are several places to shop near by though. My favorite dish here is the chile verde because you can eat them with the tortillas but no only that it's very flavorful. My meals always seem to come out alright but for some reason they continue to refuse to get my girlfriend's order right! Its really not difficult to write down what the customer wants and give it to the kitchen is it? Only once did we get her burrito for free even though they have brought it out correctly once since we started come here (almost a year). If there was a another mexican place near by i would be there but this is unfortuately it. Good food but the service is not good and the waitresses at the bar are terrible. The bar tender with the seahawks gear and Mohawk is awesome and gets shit right but other than that its a craps shoot!! I'm so disappointed in our recent visits to the Renton Landing Torero. We recently went with our friends for dinner in the bar. Ted's restaurant has been our favorite Friday night place to go for over 25 years. It has gone so far down hill as far as customer service and quality of food and especially their margaritas. I ordered my Toreros Cadillac Margarita tonight and it tasted like lime Koolaid. I was bartender at Dukes restaurant, and also worked as cocktail waitress for many years. I asked the bartender for a little Grand Marnier in my margarita since that is what it calls for. He added a little and the waitress charged me 10 more dollars making my one margarita 21.00 when I questioned the waitress, Yolis, she was very rude, as she usually is, and sent the manager over and he made a scene and refused to budge on the bill. TED WOULD SO UPSET. We've given it several tries recently, but will not be back. Bummer. read more

My husband and I came into this new Torero's location for lunch on Saturday. We sat in the bar and the place was pretty empty. We quickly received our chips and salsa and they took our drink order. That's where the decent service ended, Karina, our server probably should have been writing her orders down because both of our orders were incorrect. I ordered the 2 taco combo with one chicken and one beef taco, she asked me twice what meat I wanted on the tacos, she then asked if I wanted sour cream and guac, I told her just guac. She then confirmed that I just wanted sour cream and I corrected her again. My husband ordered the enchilada and taco plate but asked to sub the enchilada for a tamale. So when our orders arrived I received two beef tacos and my husband received a plate with an enchilada, tamale and taco. The beef taco's were pretty gross, the beef had absolutely no seasoning I was almost tempted to remove the beef off the tacos. After Karina served us our food she didn't come back for some time to check on us and make sure all was well and by that time we had almost finished our lunch. Also, for the extra charge of the guac, you get like 1-2 table spoons for almost 2 dollars...seemed a little over priced for the quality of it. Came in with my friend and I understand not everyone likes to serve young people because they assume we don't tip but that's no excuse to give us terrible service. Our waitress had a snotty attitude when taking our order and didn't even look at us while we we were telling her our order like what? Our food came out pretty quick and tasted amazing but not once did our rude waitress check up on us. The part I'm irritated about? When she handed us our bill she had the audacity to circle the recommended tips at the bottom of our receipt and didn't even say "thank you for coming in" or anything like that. We really like this place. First, being from the East Coast, this is in our opinion one of the better Mexican places around here. The taste of the food is more aligned to what we know. You get chips and salsa, but ask for the cheese dip. Not on the menu, but it's a white cheese dip with peppers in it, and comes with colored chips. Very good. Oh, the margarita. I get a house margarita every time I come. It's HUGE. And STRONG. They don't skimp on this drink!!! Fav's: Pork dish. So tender and the sauce is de-lish! Tacos Al Corbon steak....we all want this one. Fajitas are excellent. The prices seem high, but you are getting a large meal. We almost always have leftovers. Just share a meal if you don't like leftovers. The servers are friendly and we never have issues keeping drinks full. They have a club where you earn points for free stuff. This place is alright I guess, I'm very picky when it comes to good Mexican food, I like the real authentic stuff, which sometimes seems hard to come by in this city. Food tastes like something you'd get from a chain Mexican restaurant of course, commercialized. I only went here because my mom lives in Renton and she wanted Mexican food. We go in and ask for a table for 4, the host looks at us and says just a minute, so we wait several minutes, the restaurant is busy but they still have tables open. Several parties walk-in and they get seated right away for some reason, while we were there first. We were about to leave and go to a restaurant next door when the host sees we're about to leave and then all of a sudden they got a table for us. Our waiter seemed nice, but also seemed to be in a rush and it seemed like he was rushing my mom, who was paying for dinner, I know this is the guys job but given my experience in the hospitality industry, foh needs to make you feel welcomed and treated as guests. We had my small nephew with us and they didn't even accommodate us with a high chair, I had to get it myself, which I don't mind, but where's the hospitality? Then the waiter rushes my mom with the check, and all that rushing left him with a 2 dollar tip. He didn't seem very please with the tip, he said oh and 2 dollars for me, thanks I'm tired of restaurant staff thinking they're owed tips for mediocre food and service, some wait staff don't even work for the tips anymore and wonder why they don't make good tips waiting is like sales, the waiters who sell their service the best, makes the most tips. This place is cute, but I hate bad service and mediocre Mexican food. I won't be going back anytime soon, I'll just stick to Rosita's Mexican restaurant up north, you can never go wrong with that place and they have waaaaay better tortillas and not that thick flour tortilla crap. I've eaten at other Torero's locations many times, but this was my first time visiting the Landing location, and my first time trying out their happy hour. The service was quick and friendly enough. Since we ordered beers to drink, I can't speak to the mixed drinks. The beer was a reasonable and typical happy-hour price. What I was disappointed in was the lack of variety in the happy hour food menu. There just weren't many items to choose from that felt appetizer-ish, and there wasn't a single option on the happy hour menu for my vegetarian companion, other than getting the nachos without meat, which we did, and they were very good and very satisfying. One thing about Torero's is that the quality of their chips is exceptional, as are their homemade flour tortillas, which I have enjoyed during other visits there. If they added a little more variety to the happy hour menu, particularly finger foods and veggie-friendly dishes, it could be a really nice place to go for happy hour. read more

Hmm..I'm not sure why I'm giving this place 3 stars. I think it's for the food portion/taste and the bean/salsa with the chips that they serve. Otherwise, it's your typical Mexican restaurant that is slightly overpriced. We had 1 beer and two plates and our bill was almost $50 for dinner! The place is nice and roomy and the hostess was friendly. However, I couldn't tell who our server was. Someone took our drink order, another person dropped it off. Someone else took our food order and someone from the kitchen dropped it off. I asked the person who dropped our food off for some sour cream, and someone else dropped it off. It looks like great team work and all but it really made dinner very impersonal you can't even figure who your server really is. Other than that, great Mexican food. Love the bean dip they provide with the salsa and chips. That's definitely a plus. I'm only taking one star off because of the server confusion and another for the price. Be prepared to spend at least $20 for your individual meal if you come for dinner. read more
