My husband and I stumbled on this place by accident and all I can say is YUMMY!. We love Mexican food; there is nothing better on a hot summer day than a good margarita or beer, chips, salsa & tacos!! This place did not disappoint. We ordered. the shrimp fajitas the portion was perfect for us to share. The staff was attentive and friendly, If you like hot sauce ask for there house made hot sauce. I could drink it out of a cup. TLDR/ Food: Mediocre, Ambiance: Festive, Service: Slow but decent, Price: Reasonable, Verdict: Soft Pass, try it if there is nothing better. I ate here for lunch today. The service was slow, which was weird because there were only three tables. The food was just okay, not great, but not terrible. The chips were crisply fried but under seasoned. The salsa was neither hot, nor flavorful, with almost no taste beyond a mild-watered-down-tomato flavor. It was underwhelming in the worst possible way. I ordered three enchiladas and rice. The enchiladas were okay, nothing to write home about. There was an acceptable amount of shredded beef inside, a decent amount of sauce, and an okay amount of cheese on top, where they let me down, was the overall flavor. I think it is a lack of salt. If they had added just a bit more, I think the entire dish would have faired better, or perhaps more butter, lard or other fat, as it seemed distinctly lacking that richness you look for in an enchilada. They did not have salt or pepper on the table, so I contented myself with a mediocre lunch, it's only the once anyway. On the upside, if you are worried about salt intake, they have you covered. I ordered my husbands food to go, and it was packed well and made it home in one piece. Chicken Mole, with beans is his meal of choice. With the addition of salt to that, it was actually pretty good. I also ordered a happy hour mojito and a flan for dessert. The mojito was equally underwhelming, made with far more ice and far less of everything else. However the flan had a wonderful toothsome flair. There was a really good balance of egginess and creaminess. The browned sauce that lends the dish its caramel sweetness was ample and permeated into the top and bottom in an extremely satisfying way. Overall, the thing that most surprised me was the price, at 45 dollars (including a 20 percent tip), I found it to be a decent amount for the food given. read more

Food was horrible as well as service. We have not been here in like 3 years or so and this place has gone completely downhill! Tables were filthy and the place was dead! We walked in and were sat at a filthy table and she tossed us 2 menus. She then realized the table was dirty and moved us to another one. She brought chips that were very stale and spicy salsa. We ordered our food and drinks after 20 minutes we got our drinks. My husband ordered carne asada and I had a chicken enchilada with beans and rice. My husband had 2 flour tortillas on a plate not covered up and they were sticking together obviously heated up in a microwave. His carne asada had no seasoning at all the guacamole had pieces of hard onions. My husband told the waitress the asada has no flavor whatsoever she said oh maybe it needed to Marinate longer? The over head tv was blaring loud music and there was some one's yogurt cups and trash on a side table in plain site. The enchilada sauce I had on my enchilada was spicy I told her when I ordered I could not have spicy sauce when I bit into it I went to look for her and explained it she said oh the sauce is premade I saw on the stove that pots were uncovered and meat not covered as well. I told her your tables are dirty she said I don't clean the table until a customer sits down I said what!! Our sodas were flat she said the co is acting up. At noon today I returned to order a classic Mexican meal: Taco, Enchilada, Chili Relleno, Rice, Beans, Chips and Salsa, the historic old standard that we all could name! I had remembered the chips and salsa from our last meal here - Red Chili Salsa and diced green onion, my favorites. And the corn chips were hot and crispy. All of this was a great warmup for the meal! When the dinner arrived, the first thing I noticed was the crispy beef taco standing up in a "V"-shaped metal support, keeping it from laying on its side in enchilada sauce. How clever! I was able to take bites of the taco and replace it several times throughout the meal, and it still held together to the last bite. Just that simple add-on to the meal enhanced the pleasure of eating - see the photos. The cheese enchilada was swimming in sauce, as was the relleno, and the relleno was cooked in a poblano chili, so it was huge compared to most, coated with an egg batter and packed with jack cheese. After 2 glasses of coca-cola, I was too stuffed to finish all the rice and beans; I left several bites of each. Truth be known, I am an accomplished chef of Mexican cuisine in my own right (since 1959), and I know how to best develop the nuanced flavors of these entrées for the American palate. Today's lunch was the best I've had in several years (Las Margaritas deserving an honorable mention). But with the quality and flavor of today's lunch, at prices comparable to El Sabor and El Rinconsito, "Sin Pancho" earns the all star award for best all around Mexican restaurant in South County! ... upgraded to 5-Stars on Dec 4, 2021 read more

Every time we have come here in the past, I would get the Asada. This time the meat was flavorless and bland. Maybe it was just this time.

My husband and I went there on Thursday June 20th for dinner. We arrived at dinner time and there were only 2 cars in the parking lot. That should have been a warning for us. when we got inside there was not a single customer in there. The 2 cars must have belonged to the employees. Our waitress never smiled and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. We both ordered Carne Asada medium rare. Nearly 30 minutes after we ordered, the food arrived. The waitress didn't come check on us during that time. Presentation was lacking, flavor was lacking, but the meat was properly cooked. The salsa that came with the chips had basically no flavor, more like tomato sauce with no salt, the entire meal lacked flavor. The waitress never came to see if everything was okay, did not offer more chips and finally refilled my water when she came to collect the dishes and bring me the bill. To make things worse, there was no toilet paper in the handicap stall, which put me in a precarious position, literally. I had to waddle to the next stall with my pants part way down. Would have been terribly embarrassing if someone had come in. You would think with no customers in the place they would find things to do, like stock the tp and clean the restrooms. We stumbled across this restaurant while on a quest to find tap shoes down the street at DanceTrendz. Their carne asada fries are AMAZING. After two visits, we've sampled several dishes on the menu and all have been solid. Our only concern is that both times the place was deserted - please support this wonderful restaurant. OMG! Visited twice in the last week because the food is the most genuine Sonoran food we have found in the South Sound. I ordered and received a REAL chili relleno made just like my favorite restaurant in Taos, NM makes. Highly recommend. A full plate containing a Taco, Enchilada and Chili Relleno wth Rice and Beans was only $12.99. A lot of food for the value. Please visit. The best Mexican foor this side of the Rio Grande. Owner/Chef Alma likely will be your server. She has dedicated her life to good food and it shows. Especially in the Sin Pancho specialties. The Plato de Birrio is unique. Mounds of braised beef cooked to perfection in the Birrio sauce. Your quest for the perfect relleno? It just ended with Alma's masterpiece. Oh, and if you're an afficianado of chili verde or chili colorado, you must try both of these. Try, you won't be disuaded you'll be on Yelp writing a Five-Star for Alma's place. read more

Tamale Chile Verde Camarones Al Diabla Just moved to the area and got a coupon in the Valpak mailer. Hadn't heard of Sin Pancho prior, but will absolutely go back. Tamale - run of the mill, doesn't disappoint. Chile Verde - when we called to order, they were out of chili rojo... but it was close to closing time so I'm not shocked. The waitress suggested chili verde and it was good! We don't usually order Verde items but the restaurant was new to us, so we figured we should roll with it. It had great flavor and we would order again. Camarones Al Diabla - Any time I see this dish, I order it. It wasn't as spicy as I like (I generally order 5 star Thai, and don't consider food spicy unless my tongue burns off), but the flavor was really delicious and I appreciated being able to actually taste it. The to-go containers were very full, and we definitely have leftovers. We haven't had a dine in experience, but look forward to it once quarantine is over! read more

We came to town to visit family & fresh of the road we dropped in to grab some tacos ( el pastor) with beans & rice & I could not have been more disappointed. Maybe because I ordered the take out there gave me the day old whats left in the pot beans that were more like soup & tasted like dirty socks!!! The restaurant was small but cute, and had several families eating while there. The chips and salsa were good, and the restaurant was clean. My husband got a combo meal with three enchiladas that he said were good and they actually came with sour cream which was nice as most places don't do that, and the rice and beans were really tasty. I got a super burrito that was very yummy as it had beans, meat, rice, sour cream, and other items together. The only slight negative was the booths were freestanding and there was a kid jumping around in the booth behind me that was shaking and literally moving the booth around a bit, but it is what it is. Haven't been to this location in years, and it changed names, but we were looking for a homey place with a happy hour. 2-8pm every day! House margaritas were good but the Pinche Pancho mescal/passion fruit drink was surprisingly delicious. House special Steak Birria was tasty and complex. The food is good, it's actually really good but the service could basically not get any worse. I had to go up to the front and almost walk in the kitchen to get their attention. And no they weren't busy, we were the only customers at the time. Asked twice for water, not refills, and still havent got it. Foods done. Still no waters. Hungry and lacking inspiration, we discovered Sin Pancho because of a discount coupon in the Seattle/North Puget Sound Entertainment Book. This is one of those classic Mexican Restaurants that seem indistinguishable from the one down the street (or in the next town). Sin Pancho is not upscale, but it's not a hole-in-the-wall either. Happy Hour Margaritas and Beer might be reason enough to give them a try, but the food is good, plentiful and reasonably priced (even without a discount coupon). Definitely old-style Mexican-American, we've eaten here several times now and I found the classic combination meals (two or three items selected from a list of standard items: tacos, enchiladas, tamales, etc.) served with rice and refried beans more than met our expectations. But the camerones a la diabla are "to die for" -- flavorful, spicy, but not too caliente! Sin Pancho is not a four-star restaurant (there aren't any four star restaurants in Auburn). But I gave this simple, no-frills, family-owned and operated restaurant four stars because it was good, fun, reasonably priced and far exceeded my (admittedly low) initial expectations. read more

I came here for a work lunch. We were sat promptly right after we came in. We were served chips and salsa and the waitress took our order pretty fast. Food took a long time to come out. Burrito was good but a tad oily/greasy and later made my stomach a bit upset. I don't think the food was bad just would not be coming back as I have many choices for Mexican food around the area I find better. read more

I had to have my car worked on and this was the only place in walking distance to hang out until my car was finished. I never expected to be in a Mexican restaurant at 10:30 a.m! I order Chili Relleno. Although it took a little bit to get, it was worth the wait. It was so fresh and delicious. I wish I took a picture of it before I started eating it. It reminds me of what a friends mother made me years ago, it was authentic and delicious. Service was good too, but I was only 1 of 2 people in the restaurant because they just opened. read more

One of the best Mexican restaurant I've been to. My guest ordered the beef fajitas and I ordered a chimichanga enchilada taco combination. You get a lot of food for your money. All the food was hot and delicious. You could taste the flavor, the spices even in the rice and beans. We loved the atmosphere and decor. Especially the murals and the partial mission style roof inside. the only negative we had was the hospitality of our server. She greeted us, checked on us during our meal, and thanked us for coming; we just got the feeling she wasn't in a good mood. But I will definitely go back. read more

Sin Pancho Mexican Restaurant: So on Monday 10-17, I decided I was going to try this Mexican Restaurant down the road, deviated from Azteca for once. I had a coupon for $10.00 off with any order above $20.00 purchase. On the coupon, I got through work, it DOES not say "DINE IN ONLY". It only says, if dining in, only one coupon per party, even, if you are sitting at different tables. I called in and ordered 2 orders over $20.00, I get there the lady says, this is for "DINE IN ONLY", I say where does it say that? She is unable to show me on the coupon and insist it's for Dine in only. I said okay, that's fine, I know that for next time. She refused to give my $10.00 off, so I just walked out. I could of just sat down ordered both meals, ask for 2, to go boxes and problem solved. But that's besides the point, rather than giving me the meal, they got nothing, I'm sure they took those meals and gave them to another customer or they went to waste. It didn't make any sense to me, to not satisfy a customer. She said, I have to ask the owner, but he's not here. LOL...Why do these restaurants put out these coupons, but don't honor them, I just don't get that, not giving the $10.00 off as show of good customer service. So I never got to try the food and I never will ever go there because of this. I know that area has problems keeping restaurants in business and I wanted to see how it was and help support the business. This was my experience with this place. They took a Value Pak BOGO without the need to buy 2 beverages, they were very polite around my son, an autistic adult, the skirt steak was juicy and had lots of meat, came with quagamolie and sour cream...$14.95....or $7.50 each with coupon. For the second time I ordered the Sin Pancho burrito for lunch. I reminded the waitress three times that I did not want tomatoes on the burrito and still got tomatoes anyway. The waitress looked at me and handed me my check like she didn't care. The Sin Pancho burrito is probably the best burrito in Auburn, but the tomatoes ruin it for me. I guess I'll look elsewhere for another place to eat since they could care less about preparing food for their customer. I'm pretty bummed. It feels like we are being overtaken with Mexican food. Trust me, that is not a bad thing. However, these restaurants either serve the same food for the same price, or just fail to deliver the flavor of Mexico. Not sure how new this place is, but it's in a bit of a low traffic area for dinner. The bar had music that was deafening loud. So loud that it took over the restaurant despite have full sized doors that were closed. The menu was extremely limited. The only combinations served, were at lunch. I think a must these days is either a salsa bar, or at least salsa options. It's a great way to add flavor and gesture that you are serious about your heritage. I asked for a hotter salsa and was obliged; however, the server brought out a squeeze bottle and put just an ounce in a condiment dish. The refried beans and guacamole were A+ and the carne asada was pretty good, but could have used a little more seasoning. For the money it was a good deal and the service was super friendly. My only complaint would be that the 6 ounce water glass was not big enough, especially with 3 ounces of ice. The chips did not taste fresh or homemade and the basket was never filled, and of course I would have liked to have seen a bigger menu, with combinations, rolled tacos and salsa options. Based on location, I'm worried about this place; another decent Mexican restaurant was here years ago and did not make it. They have good food, but are going to have to find a way to get the word out to the masses. Although it's not a residential friendly locale, the surrounding population is quite large. read more

Excellent food. When we got there early they graciously turned on the AC for us. My husband ordered chicken enchiladas which he said we're the best tasting he'd ever had. I ordered a small order of nachos which came with the best, freshest homemade guacamole, plenty of cheese and whole beans. Super good. I'll be back anytime we're in the area. read more

Me and my friend went here for dinner tonight. I got the chicken fajitas and she got the beef and cheese quesadillas. Our food came very quickly. I was so surprised that for only $11.75 I got such an amazing amount of food. The quality of the food was also very very good. The wait staff were extremely friendly the place was very clean and cutly decorated. I always check out the bathrooms before ordering food and this time I was very impressed because the bathrooms were immaculately clean. This is our new favorite Mexican food restaurant. I went here for the first time with my family on a whim because we happened to be in Auburn. As we approached the building, we heard a band freestyling in the bar area, and were debating if we should even go inside. When we opened the door, it was significantly louder, and quite irritating. The waitress brought us to our table, and we sat near two other tables, but the rest of the place was empty. We sat for a few minutes before we realized that the band was not going to stop freestyling. None of the instruments were synchronized, they were obnoxiously loud, and there was no recognizable pattern. It was the live music equivalent of a random number generator. After ordering our food, we asked the waitress if the band was ever going to stop. She offered to seat us somewhere quieter, and she happily obliged and brought is into a room area which somewhat muffled the awful sound coming from the bar. The food was decent and we enjoyed it well enough, but the noise coming from the bar ruined the experience even from our muffled room. It was so bad that we basically entertained ourselves by making jokes about how bad the music was. At some point, the clatter stopped, and was replaced with what sounded like a radio, and we thought, "oh, good, they're giving us a break." Nope. The radio was actually playing the same 'song', and we all realized at once: oh my god. they were actually *trying* to play this crap?? And then the radio stopped, and the band resumed playing the same ridiculous amusical nonsense. We had a lot of good hearty laughs about how terrible it was, so there's the silver lining. When we left, the waitress apologized for the music and told us they probably will only be around for a month. The food is this place's saving grace, but the only way I would ever come back here is they get rid of their noise machine. I understand that a band may need to practice, but for the love of all that is holy, don't do it around paying customers! read more

Why all the favorable reviews? Thought we'd try out a new Mexican restaurant. I saw only 4 people at a table in the entire place. That would have been a clue. After all it was dinner time. SIN PANCHO BURRITO According to the menu it was supposed to be filled with rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, tomato. I ordered it with ground beef. The first thing I noticed was that there was no sour cream on top. It was when I sliced it open there was a sliver found inside. But where was the lettuce & tomatoes? A few splatters here and there but not what I had been used to seeing at other restaurants with a like product, macho burrito as some call it. It was very mushy inside and the taste was bland. The top was not garnished with any topping. A poor presentation. CHIPS Ordering 3 dinners gives you a very small single helping of chips. These are inexpensive and they could have provided a healthy quantity instead of skimping. TACO-ENCHILADA-CHIMICHANGA Another disappointment. We asked for the enchilada to be chicken but they decided to make everything chicken. The taco was placed on top of everything else which resulted in it being stuck to the other portions. You could not eat it as a taco by itself. I was they would work out details on food preparation, presentation and quality. I would not find myself going there again. read more

My family recently tried this restaurant for the first time and we were very pleased with the food. The prices are very reasonable and lower than most restaurants in the area so you get a very good value for your money. I tried the cucumber/cilantro margarita and the tortilla soup which had fresh shredded chicken in it and both were excellent !! read more

Why do I have to give this one star...I would like a negative star selection. Friday lunch hour and only 2 Tables occupied...will I ever learn? Upon Entering: greeted haphazardly..seated in booth, Restaurant freezing cold Menu: Small selection ok prices Food: DISGUSTING. I ordered the Colorado. The "meat" was 70% fat and looked like pulled off left overs of something that once resembled meat. The "sauce" was oil with some chile powered mixed in. I didn't date try the rice or beans. It was so hot that I am impressed with the industrial microwave this came out of. Yup I didn't eat it. The waitress did stop by and asked how everything was, now mind you but this time the plate was pushed to the edge of the table virtually untouched. She asks: How is everything? I told her that it was awful. She looked surprised, said "really" and walked away after I told her that is why it was untouched. Service: Ahm....you kidding right? Did she offer to remedy? nooooo Did she offer anything? nooooo Did she charge us for it? you bet she did. Did we pay for it, heck no. Close to work and we had a coupon, so thought we'd try it. The menu offered the standard fare but a little pricier than average - $9.50 and up for lunch items. The salsa was watery and not very flavorable. He ordered the taco and enchilada combo with a root beer and I ordered a chicken chimi. The only other people there were leaving when we ordered but it took awhile to get our order. He said the taco was good but can't mess up a taco but the enchilada was only ok and he coke instead of root beer. My chimi was a good portion but there wasn't much flavor to the chicken and I only got 1 small dollop of sour cream. We placed a to go order, nachos when we ordered but she never brought it. We thought it would be ready when we paid but it wasn't. He went pay but I realized the bill was high. She didn't give him the coupon discount. I asked why and she claimed "What coupon". I said the one you picked up off the table. She feigned looking for it and found it with her order pad THEN REFUSED TO GIVE THE DISCOUNT! He didn't give a tip on either order.
