Tried this establishment for the first time yesterday and it did not disappoint. I got the spicy double meat cheeseburger - it was cooked fresh and seasoned quite nicely. They followed directions for my add ons/changes which is a big thing for me. I ordered the garlic Parmesan fries which were also great. My only critique is to ensure all the fries (towards the bottom) are also sprinkled with the yummy goodness of the Parmesan. I will definitely be coming back. read more

I figured out why the place is called Tornado Burger: their burgers are all over the place. You can barely hold one down long enough to eat it! I'm sorry to go against the grain, but Tornado Burger was just so-so for me, and I probably won't be returning. A lot of people like the spicy burgers (spices and chopped jalapeños mixed into the meat). I was skeptical and ordered a double meat double cheese burger, one normal patty and one spicy patty. The patties are very thin, and thin equals dry. I was looking forward to a GREASY, delicious burger, but the only thing greasy about it was the bun, which had way too much special sauce on it. I had a very hard time holding the burger because of the excess sauce. All the veggies and meat kept sliding out. My parents had the same problem. Like I said... Tornado Burger is a pretty self explanatory name. Their fries were pretty tasty. They truly taste like potatoes (gasp! french fries that TASTE like potatoes!). However, they weren't crispy at all. They were very limp and soggy which was odd because they were fried right in front of me. They were just okay. The sad thing about all this is after I finished all the food, I was very weighed down and uncomfortable. I eat a lot of burgers and normally feel weighed down in a victorious way. This place made me feel like I was having a mild heart attack, and I still didn't get my meat-grease! As affordable as the meal was (9 bucks for 2 double meat and cheese and a large fry) if I don't get my meat-grease, then what's the point of that? If you like your patties thin, then maybe this is the place for you. Just don't forget to bring your "good" hand because you're going to need it to hold one of those burgers in place. read more

The only place in Houston where you get a "Double Double"...until we get an In N Out. I have been hearing about this place for a long time now and it fell off my radar when I cut back on burgers. But with the talk threads popping about discussing burgers got me craving. My new found usage of Main/90 has made trips out towards stafford/sugarland area a breeze. It was only about a 20 minute drive to this place. So I had the double meat double cheese made spicy. The burger is neat, tasted great. Not dripping in grease. The spices really hit the spot. I loved the fries, very crispy and perfect for dipping in ketchup. The best part is the price. Dirt cheap. The area is a bit seedy, so come during sunlight. read more

How have we been driving passed this place for so long without stopping in!? Holy crap! This place was amazing. The burgers are delicious, the service was on point, and the price was good for the food we got. Hubby ordered a triple, and I got a double on lettuce with no bun. Hubs also got chili cheese fries as his side. The portion was HUGE! We could tell that the burgers are homemade and not cooked until they're ordered. The buns were delicious (I had a bite of hubby's), and the chili cheese fries were perfect (drowned in a good helping of chili and cheese). Wanting to kill 2 birds with one stone, we hit Tornado Burger after attending the Houston Hot Sauce Festival as they were both located in Stafford. And boy was I looking forward to an outstanding burger experience. Unfortunately, the burger did not live up to my expectations. (I hate it when that happens!) The patties are small and thin which is OK, but for those of you expecting something hearty go with the double patty burger. The single patty is extremely small and could not compete with the bread and condiments. Since the theme of the day was "spicier the better" I ordered the spicy burger basket which came with fries and a drink. The patty has the jalapenos, garlic & pepper ground into the beef and has a nice burn to it. They were heavy handed on the mayo and the veggies were fresh & plentiful. The fries were really delicious. Home fries cut thin and perfectly salted. I really enjoyed them but they did get a bit soggy towards the end. The best part of the dining experience was the National Geographic magazines that are available to look at during your visit that date back to the early 1960's. We had a great time looking at the ads for the new 1963 Ford T-Bird (that included standard seat belts!) and the Sony portable tape recorder that only weighed 8 lbs and was the size of a small suitcase. 2.5 stars read more

It was the right spicy level, the meat was on point, and everything just blended together and tasted so good. I literally wanted seconds after demolishing my burger. When I went to grab a drink though every single soda tasted like crap. The fries were bad as well too greasy and soggy and it really brought everything down. I've yet to come here and be disappointed, I now sadly don't live in the area so I make a trip from katy in, now and then when I get free time. Not exactly a place to come if you are being weight-conscious or eating clean. Its absolutely a grease-pit. Not only that but it makes all kinds of huge claims on the signs outside (eg "best cheeseburger in Texas") I'd say, in fairness, 3.5 stars maybe? Hubby would rate this place 4 stars, but wouldn't order a burger again. He'd try a cheese steak and i'd probably stick to just fries if I came back. Staff were friendly, place was clean, but could have done without all the greasy grease pooling everywhere. We live locally, see this place all the time, but it's not exactly a neighbourhood that screams of decent places to eat. It's a rundown subdivision and most places look quite dingy. Having read the reviews on Yelp, my curiosity peaked, I announced to hubby that this was happening! I ordered a 1-patty cheeseburger, with grilled onions and garlic parmesan fries. Hubby ordered a 2-patty, with no extras and cheese fries. And, cause he was famished, he ordered onion strings too (even the lady taking our order was like "ehhhh are you sure??" Lol!!) plus 2 sodas for less than $20. Not bad going! My garlic parmesan fries were EPIC. Delicious!! Though when you get to the bottom of the tub and find your fries literally swimming in an inch of oil/grease/garlic butter your stomach starts to churn. Hard. Couldn't we drain them off a little? Jeez! Onion strings are really tasty too, so much so that neither hubby nor I touched our burgers til our fries and strings were demolished! I didn't get a huge amount of flavour from the meat on the burger (maybe that comes with ordering spicy?), I'm thrilled that the bun wasn't sweet tasting, and I was happy with the size of the burger and that it's cooked fresh to order. Again, however, it was swimming in grease. Half my bun was soggy and inedible, and the burger leaked SERIOUS grease all over my clothes (I am praying it comes out in the wash). There REALLY is no need for that. I felt dirty and guilty when I left, covered in grease and oil and about 7lbs heavier. Meh...it's decent for the price. You definitely get a hefty portion of food. I got a triple meat burger with cheese fries. You need to eat the cheese fries when you get it or else the cheese will stiffen rather quickly (i popped mines in the microwave at home and it was fine). The burgers are pretty good you can taste the grill on it lol. It's greasy as hell but that should be expected. I get twice if not three times as much here than i would at Macdonalds for the same price. The food taste homemade so that's a plus. An old fashion burger place - they only start to cook your order after you order, no need for heat lamps here. Ordered their famous spicy burger with cheese and all the standard fixings. I made it a combo, so it came with hand cut fries and a fountain drink. They also offer beer and frozen drinks. My friend ordered a double burger with onion strings. The burgers were cooked perfectly and served with fresh fixings ( crisp lettuce leaves, nice ripe tomato slices and onions. The buns were lightly toasted on the grill, but were still soft and held up well. Wow - the spicy burger was well seasoned and was delicious with the fixings, and slightly sweet bun. The fries filled a medium cup and were great. The double burger was equally good, but the order of onion strings was huge and tasty, but slightly greasy. It was nice they had employees that really knew their menu well, were patient and friendly. When the lines went down, the employees replenished napkins, etc. and cleaned tables. I choose the #3 combo, since I don't like cheese on my burger (yes, call me weird). Of course, I listened to the advice of others and got the hot and spicy. My boyfriend got the #1 combo hot & spicy with extra jalapenos, god almighty that burger had a kick to it. The flavor of the beef was freaking amazing. But as for people comparing it to "In and Out", not so sure about that. I think their buns is what makes it slightly resemble In and Out, but really far from it. Service was EXCELLENT. And the food was tasty and fresh as advertised. Im pregnant and have been craving a cheeseburger and this hit the spot! I LOVE THIS PLACE! The burger is a tad pricey in my opinion but considering you get a cup full of crispy fries, a burger, and a drink, it is definately worth it. I live over 30 mins away from this place but is not hesitant to drive the distant to come here. I love the athmosphere because it gives off a small town diner with the red booths and signs hanging on the walls.
