I'm always happy to try a new sushi spot and will definitely come back here more in the future. The staff were so very kind, coming by to check in on the food as well as refilling waters. I greatly enjoyed all the rolls that we tried: Spicy Plus roll, Devil roll, Salmon Lover roll, and Dragon roll. I think the Devil roll was my favorite because of how the flavors harmonized together and the shrimp tempura inside had a nice crunch. The rice in all the rolls was well made and the sauces drizzled on top were incredibly delicious. The fish tasted and felt fresh texture-wise too. The teriyaki chicken udon was the only letdown in the whole experience, although I'm not sure what I was expecting... teriyaki sauce in a broth doesn't make sense I guess so that's on me for getting it. Chicken was just standard grilled chicken breast, no additional flavor, no teriyaki. The udon noodles were light and chewy. The broth was light and soy saucey. A lovely restaurant, and a surprisingly good place for kids. We've gone here a couple of times with my two kids, and most recently we went in a large group of 10 people with 5 kids. The staff is attentive to the needs of parents, and there's also something calming about the overall atmosphere. The food was all very flavorful and the sushi was top quality, we could tell the fish was prepared well and fresh. The serving sizes for the price were well worth it and we would definitely return! Decided to come here on a whim. The inside was bigger than we expected and was really spacious. They had a few regulars so we thought it must be good. They don't have uni but appear to everything else you'd want in a Japanese restaurant to include hamachi collar and a large variety of fresh sushi and sashimi. We ended up ordering the bentos with tempura but will definitely come back with our adult kids to partake in sushi. Our bentos included miso soup and truthfully it was just a little watery - probably needed to be stirred before dished out. It also seems to be "packaged" miso soup based on the size and texture of the tofu. Breakdown of the bento: Salad was packaged mix with a nice light dressing. California sushi was spot on! Tempura had a sweet dip that we both enjoyed but the tempura was a bit greasy to me. Side of rice was good Japanese rice so we really appreciated that! IYKYK Teriyaki beef and teriyaki chicken were both done deliciously! Overall four stars but I bet if we are sushi instead, it may have been closer to five stars! read more

The interior has a nice, Japanese izakaya ambiance, which is a nice contrast to the strip mall exterior. The service is excellent, and the sushi is fresh. I have ordered sushi and rolls to go a few times and have not been disappointed. However, tonight my wife and I went in and had sit down service. Service was good and would have liked more tea but otherwise good service. We had bento boxes, maguro and hamachi sushi. As expected the sushi was well prepared and good. However, I was disappointed with the teriyaki chicken. It was tough, dry, taste was bit on the acrid side like it had been sitting on the corner of the grill too long waiting for an order to come in. Fresh teriyaki chicken should have been prepared. Iceberg salad was nothing to speak about and tempura was oily. Come here for sushi but tread carefully on other dishes. read more

One of the best Japanese food places I've ever eaten!! Their food was fresh and delicious. I got the Bento Deluxe with chicken teriyaki and it was incredible. The portion was large and I even shared with the rest of my party. The restaurant itself is very well decorated. They were playing some classical piano which really added to the atmosphere and not blasting pop songs I hear everywhere else. This was a very enjoyable date spot! Really good sushi! Nice display of the rolls. Spicy Salmon poke was a bit heavily dressed but very tasty could of been spicer for us. Waitress asked us if we were okay with spicy before chef made it. The California roll with real carb was boring. The cherry blossom roll was cute and tasty! The octopus salad was really good. Just note that it's not octopus it's actually squid. Still really good. The reviews don't lie - this place is exceptional. I can't believe how affordable their pricing is, and, hot tip: they offer a $10 corkage fee if you want to bring your own bottle of sake (or wine!) We happen to be in the area and found this newly opened or maybe reopened sushi restaurant on Yelp. I have to totally agree with the great reviews. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The inside is freshly redone and clean with the beautifully orchids and decor. The menu is very large, and there are many great choices. I normally do not like miso soup whatsoever. I've always found it to be flat and salty. This was definitely not the case. The broth was extremely well crafted and flavorful. I actually finished my bowl. The pictures do not do it Justice. The food was so fresh and the temperatures were perfect. Each piece of my fish had amazing flavor and you could see and taste how fresh it was. The rice was perfect and not thick or heavily overused. The fish was the star of the plate. They take such pride and their service food and plating. Even though it's a little bit of a drive for us, we will definitely be coming back soon! read more

Located in Martinazzi Square (Tualatin) in the former Sushi Train space (I am told by the same owners), Toro Sushi is the newest sushi restaurant in town. Located in the same plaza as Starbucks, Orange Theory, Taco Bell, a liquor store and Nothing Bundt Cakes. Once you enter, the space is inviting. Major renovation from the prior restaurant. There are at least a dozen tables with the sushi counter in the center. Very nicely decorated. A large assortment of rolls and bento boxes to pick from. Large variety. Sake and beer on the menu. We ordered about 8 rolls which were all prepared beautifully on a large wooden plate. Nice display. The caterpillar roll even had little eyeballs and the orange slices were shaped into little bears. Bento box had salad, pickled radish, teriyaki chicken, rice, and miso soup. Great portion sizes. Definitely kid friendly. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. This alone makes us want to come back, but the sushi was also delicious. We would definitely revisit Toro Sushi! read more
