I had teriyaki chicken, salad and opted for sweet and sour chicken over gyoza as an accompaniment. I liked that the sauces are on the side so the food isn't drenched in them. The chicken for the teriyaki was tender, and the fried chicken for sweet an sour didn't have too much breading. It's not like I was always eating it but for some odd reason, I've been craving for teriyaki ever since I moved up. We stumbled upon this place because my bf's mom said it use to be something else so she wanted to give it a try. Pretty basic inside- no frills. Yannno, tables, chairs and a menu on the wall. No TV, no crazy decor or anything. Just the bare minimum. I called in and ordered the chicken teriyaki with a side of gyoza and it was ready in 15 mins. It came with 2 scoops of white rice, a good amount of chicken and a side salad ($7/8) 7 pieces of gyoza for ($4). Chicken was tender and juicy-- also it marinated and seasoned well. So well that I even forgot to drizzle the teriyaki sauce when I was eating it and then remembered. From what I remember, the gyoza was better there because it had a nice crunch to it vs taking it home but I still liked it. On a side table, it has all the sauce that you might want: sriracha, sweet and sour, hot sauce, soy etc. Looks like a ma/pa family restaurant. This was my second time here and the lady up front is always so nice and pleasant. The next time I'm itching for some teriyaki , this is definitely the place I'm going to! read more

I remember this place being a Best Teriyaki way back in the day, back before they changed their recipes, back before the building was remodeled. Maybe a time forgotten to only be preceded by mediocre teriyaki which seems to have consumed much of the Portland food scene. Feels like the same place with an interior overhaul and slight modification to the menu ... After months of delay I decide it was time to finally try this place out to compare with the local competition. Ordered the rib and chicken combo. Meats were cooked thoroughly while remaining hot, soft and tender. I surely don't like meats over cooked or burnt, but both seemed to be severely lacking in the char department. Dry seasoning flavors were okay, fairly neutral by most taste standards. Their tasty sweet teriyaki sauce surely enhances the profile of the dish, best to drizzle a little while hot. Portions are cut to easy bite sizes and a little skimpy compared to most other places or the good ole days. White rice is cooked well, two scoops, no traditional macaroni salad or pickled cabbage to accompany. Strangely, all you get is a fresh cut iceberg salad with a creamy citrus poppy styled dressing as your veggie dish with the combo plate. I love a good iceberg salad, but it surely seemed a little barren with only a few slivers of carrot to keep it company, the dressing does have good taste although maybe more traditional with a bento plate. Could definitely do without the styrofoam on the togo packing. Condiment bar and candies are a plus. All in all the food was just okay, nothing stellar, nothing terrible. Everything looked and tasted fresh while portions on the meats seemed a tad conservative. Service was quick and the establishment was clean, disabled friendly with a bare concrete floor, and pricing is market average. Parking is fairly easy even when busy with spots out front and back. Admittedly, I was hoping for something a little more unique, flavorful and filling from this revamped teriyaki spot. read more

Me and my kids loved the teriyaki here! It's a very relaxed atmosphere. We all started with miso soup. It was good! Then we got the dinner special with chicken teriyaki, sweet & sour chicken, 3 gyozas and a salad. We liked being able to add different sauces with varying spice and tangy levels. Their lunch and dinner specials are an insane value. I'm genuinely glad they raised their price on it because they were selling themselves short considering how good the food is. Admittedly I haven't tried that many different dishes here, but the teriyaki sauce is just the right level of sticky and sweet, and their spicy sauce is fantastic, to the point where I almost don't even put teriyaki on my rice. The only negative I have is, if you do get the specials, you get a very basic salad that might as well not even be there. I'd rather have steamed veggies.
