I just had perhaps the most average or below average (I don't even know what to call it) sushi experience of my life. We went here for the first time, ordered four rolls. Two of them were bland and weird, the other two were OK? I've had better grocery store sushi. The ambience of this place is like a bar. It feels like it used to be like a Dotty's slot machine parlor. It didn't smell like people used to smoke in there, but it definitely felt like it, if you know what I mean. I ordered a fountain soda and the waitress asked me if I wanted a refill. I said yes and then they charged us for two sodas? So I guess beware, they do not have free refills on fountain soda, which was unexpected. They tried very hard it's just that they're too busy and didn't have the chance to refill our water. And you have to get their attention to have them bring you stuff. While definitely on the spendy side of sushi joints, Momo Sushi & Grill is really good quality. I ordered two salmon nigiri and the beef yakiniku lunch special, which consisted of beef yakiniku, tempura shrimp/veggies, miso soup, a side salad, white rice, mac salad, and a lemon wedge. While I've had cheaper lunch specials at other teriyaki restaurants, the quality and quantity do make up for the bill. The yakiniku beef especially is very tender and packed with saucy flavor. The miso soup was brought out first, which was a nice, warm, and very salty start to the meal. The side salad was a bit underwhelming and was left mostly unfinished due to a weirdly unfresh twang in the leaves' flavor. The tempura were good and not at all greasy. They were soft but had enough crisp to them that made this tempura fan satisfied. I'd say that the mac salad was pretty serviceable, though my standards for mac salads have become pretty high due to my love for Hawaiian mac salad recipes, which simply have so much more flavor to them. But regardless, it was still good! The salmon nigiri was great! Very fresh and very soft. Oftentimes, when I order salmon nigiri, I worry about not being able to take multiple bites due to tougher (or rather old) pieces of fish. This was some of the softest I've had in a long while. Yet, $7.50 for two salmon nigiri is quite a high ask when many other sushi restaurants charge half the price. The staff were all very kind and friendly, all very attentive to our needs and checking up on us frequently. The interior is nice, cozy, and definitely has a bit more upscale feel to it without feeling stuffy. The quality of the food is very good. I came here for lunch craving sushi, though was turned off by the prices since I was really hungry and wasn't really itching to spend *that* much for lunch. Thankfully, the lunch special is super filling and well worth the price. Certainly not a spot I'll be coming back to often for lunch, but it's a very good one nonetheless. read more

First off, the positive: the food was delicious!! The negative: the service was abysmal. The employees were mostly nice enough, but it took over an hour for my coworkers food to come out. Everyone else at the table had been served and finished eating. It took over 30 minutes for my second roll to come out, and I was still done long before we had to ask them to box her food up. Also, the payment process was screwed up. I was charged $46 , so I paid and tipped on that, but requested a receipt because it sounded high. The machine was out of paper, so when I was finally given a receipt, it showed my total only being $30. It's possible they just charged the card to the wrong bill, which is an honest mistake. But when I mentioned that I was overcharged, the male server just looked up at me, and then walked away. There were only a few tables there, I would hate to see how it is on a busy day. This place is a five minute walk from my house and yesterday was my first time here. I gotta say I was really impressed. I went with my Mom and the ocean called they want their fish back. We ordered and ate a mountain of sushi. The food was fresh and delicious. The Kevin roll and the crunchy roll were my two favorites but everything was great. The quality of the sushi was solid and it was affordable. The service was good. If I had a complaint it would be that the establishment appeared to need a sprucing up and possibly a deep clean. My my, just how much I've missed you Yes, I've been brokenhearted Blue since the day we parted Why, why did I ever let you go? There are places that aren't terribly memorable after you visit them. Then there are places where you just can't wait to return. Momo Sushi is becoming the latter. It is just far enough away from the office and on the higher end of my lunchtime $$ threshold so I can't visit regularly. But my two visits so far have been fantastic. I have a bit of history with this location. For years it was home to my favorite Mexican restaurant. When that closed it was replaced by what I call 'bad Mexican.' Momo has been open three months and the owners have done what they can with the space to turn it into a more high end Japanese restaurant. But you can still see the Mexican tile on the floor and stucco walls which brings back good memories for me. One thing I've always enjoyed about this restaurant is the open kitchen. On the first visit we sat at a booth, but on the return visit I insisted we sit by the kitchen and sushi bar. Great call because the sushi chef is wonderful. He offered suggestions about what was particularly good that day and checked in on us regularly. Their lunch entrees are $8 - 11 and my friend can't get enough of the Yakisoba. I've had the Yakiniku lunch and Indonesian curry, both served with cold soba. I also enjoyed the spicy salmon roll. What sets them apart is the execution of basic dishes. How many times have we all had gyoza? I think this was the best version I've ever eaten. Portion size is nice and presentation is beautiful. They do not have a kids' menu, but I've never had an issue finding food for mine off the regular menu at a Japanese restaurant.
