Take out only. 8/2/2020 We used to always make a stop at this place when we went to tournaments out towards Ontario, Upland and those areas. On the way back home, we always made a stop here for tortas and aguas frescas. My wife had been wanting a torta from here so I called and asked about seating. Take only they said. We decided to drive over. Since it's about a 20 minute drive we decided to order about 10 minutes before we arrived since they said it would be 15-20 minutes. I ordered a Caribeña. This is a pulled pork torta with cheese, pineapple, and avocado. And it was pretty good. My wife ordered milanesa, breaded beef steak with sliced hot dogs and avocado. She really liked it. But I thought mine was better. Typically when they had sit down service, the food used to be 5 stars as it was hot fresh as they brought it to your table. Minus 1 Star today as it seemed that they made our tortas right after we called. It only took us 5 minutes to arrive from the time we called, but we had to wait for the cashier to pay, then waited another 5 or so minutes to get our food. Our torta bread seemed really soggy in the foil wrapping which is why I believe they had been sitting for a while. Had they been fresh the bread could not have gotten so soggy. The lady who had poured our aguas frescas had attitude when we asked to switch a flavor saying she had already poured them. The cashier told us it should be fine. We had to ask again as the manager stood there it seemed fine all sudden and she changed the flavor. How hard was that??? All in all the food was good. Lesson learned. Do not order ahead of time. Best to wait in line, order, and pay to get more of a fresh and not so soggy meal. read more

Tortas here were disappointing, the portion size was good but the sandwich was very very bland. I would not recommend this place and I won't be returning. RUDE. Rude "manager", rude staff. Also, it took 50 mins to get 2 tortas. At 45 mins in (after asking about my order twice politely), I told the "manager" that I wanted a refund because I didn't have time to wait anymore. She got snippy with me and told me to call the bank and cancel it. She said, "How do I know how to do it??" Excuse me??? Then she checked again on my order and magically it was ready. She apologized after that, but too late. Your rudeness has made a lasting impression and I won't be going back again. Good food does not make up for you treating customers like crap. Also, another customer was complaining that they only ordered agua frescas but that they were still waiting a long time for their order. Last time I come here. I wish I could give 0 points. They absolutely lost their touch. I ordered 2 carne asada burritos (1 for me and one for dad). The burritos had 0 flavor. How bad can you mess up a carne asada burrito? It didn't have any flavor. I took a bite, and was very very disappointed I didn't say anything, when dad took two bites and said what is this? Okay, so I had originally decided not to cone here because of past experience with the service, not the food, to be clear, but my husband really wanted a torta. The reason for my decision was because my husband is lactose intolerant and he can't eat mayonnaise. Our friend, who was joining us, has a severe onion allergy. Anyway, we placed our orders, my husband, predictably ordered with NO MAYO, NO CHEESE. Our friend, ABSOLUTELY NO ONIONS. My husband's order was not supposed to include onions, he doesn't eat onions. Our friend's order came with cheese, making it a bit more expensive. Food arrives 40 min later, the 10 member group that came in and ordered 20 min after us received their order in 20 min. 3 tortas took 40 min (AFTER I had inquired about why it was taking so long). 10 tortas (with sides!) took 20 min. Perspective? Ridiculous. Also, it was midday, so I doubt it was anything having to do with the food not being prepped. My husband's order came WITH cheese, WITH pickled onions, and WITH mayo. Our friend's order came with NO cheese. We brought it to the attention of our server, who apologized, but offered no help as far as bringing us a correct order or offering a discount. They didn't get to eat the food, but rushed out because they were late for work. I stayed and spoke with the person in charge of charging us. I explained the situation, and there was nothing lost in translation, as I am fluent in Spanish. He just refused to give a discount or even replace the food. He kept saying that we should have told him immediately, and not the server because she's not in charge. I told him that I was telling him NOW and that the food wasn't eaten, but he refused to give any restitution for the wrong food. I also asked about how customers were supposed to KNOW to go to him and NOT the server, and he just shrugged his shoulders and said because he's in charge. I asked, of course, how we were supposed to know he's in charge? He replied that he's the one behind the register ( to clarify, he's behind the 'To-Go Orders' register). No apology. I was with a friend and we were trying to decide where to go. We found this place and it looked promising. They have many items on the menu. I saw they had a Torta Cubana and I got so excited because it's my favorite. I do know many people / places make it a bit differently... some use egg .. some dont... some use steak some don't. It's something I understand. What I like about the tortas Cubanas is that they have a good amount of meat. I was very disappointed... my torta had plenty of meat , that was not the issue. The issue was that the meat was dry, not seasoned well, and it was tough and just seemed like it was old. The salsas were not good. The red one tasted like tomatoe juice. It was a miserable drive from Las Vegas back to Southern California the other day. So much so that dinner plans were junked and I ended up in Baldwin Park, right off the freeway, with my aunt and uncle for dinner. Seeing an empty room didn't worry me too much because I was starving and because we wandered in 30 minutes before closing. First off - ordered a Horchata. When it arrived at the table, I thought it was a pitcher to be shared by me and my uncle. Then the next one arrived and I had to take a pic with my aunt's diet Coke can for scale. if I end up there again, I may have to see about buying one from them because they're a perfect "Ran" size. Very soon after the drinks, the food arrives. it's grilled or at least looks like it from the grill marks on the bread. I opted for the Carnitas and there was decent flavor, just wasn't spicy enough for me. I tried both the green and the red hot sauce but neither was spicy at all. This isn't a review on their salsa so moving on .... my Torta was ok. Decent size and ok flavor. I've had more flavorful Carnitas and had it been bland, I would have sent it back because I was already a little irritated because of my miserable road trip so far. The service was awesome. Christina was so patient that I was impressed. She also asked questions and made sure that my aunt was aware of what she was ordering and what to expect as this was her first experience with Tortas. She was attentive even with having to perform her closing duties and she was friendly as well. Not a hint of being fake, trying to work the tip - it was like this was her place and she really took her service and the food to heart. Best aguas frescas in the area for sure. The banana chocomilk shake is heavenly. You can get these to go as well and the to go cup is just as big as the boomba glasses. The tortas are so good. Not greasy and the cheese they use is yummy panela cheese. Their salsas are just okay. I really wish they had a good salsa to give my tortas that extra kick/heat. The meat is flavored well and not over cooked. The dining area is very spacious and clean. I have to give this at least 2 stars because the food was good. The problem was not the food, it was the service. They were so slow, we had asked for another torta to go and a chocomil. They brought the torta, but not the chocolate milk and so we asked that we get the bill and cancel the drink. Mind you, it was not made, so we didn't think this would become a whole ordeal. The manually canceled it, but the bill still shows it, they were rude about it and this practice is ridiculous. I'm sure if they accidentally enter 2 of something they could quickly reverse the order. My order was not finalized, so why they changed their whole approach was incomprehensible. Every time I call they always have an issue with answering or the women will hang up or leave you on hold , most times pretended to be quiet and then disconnect you after the fact you have been waiting . I had being coming here for years, the staff was more friendly, they used to take the order at the table, now you order by the door and you pick up your food, I ordered the # 51 torta the Baldwin park, my first time ordering this torta and came out kinda sloppy, also had a biónico and a licuado, the biónico crean was lacking it was very thin and not sweet, my licuado was not tick as it used to be, the whipped cream was runny and I couldn't taste the Mamey fruit on it, I know it was late, it was 8 pm and they closed at 10 pm but I was just disappointed! The tortas here are like grilled cheese sandwiches dialed up to 11. Your choice of melted cheese, ham, bacon, avocado, carne asada, pulled pork etc etc between two thin crunchy toasted buns. I love how they have salsa dispensers at each table (basically maple syrup dispensers filled with salsa). Pour some over your fries, you might like it! My family simply loves this place. I can't handle the sugar of those drinks but I always get a sip of my daughters Horchata and my wife's Strawberry and creme water or agua! When I come here I normally get my favorite the Guamuchil which includes Milanesa and avocado. They are very generous with the vinigered carrots which I love. This is as close as I have come to the place my parents used to take us on trips to Tijuana when we were little kids. Reminds me of old days and this place brings back those great memories.
