I've had a couple of more recent visits, with less than stellar service, and frankly, the food has been disappointing. Most recently, the clams martini were a huge letdown. They weren't flavorful at all. So disappointing! And the Giant martini glass? That was just strange. And the time before that, we were seated in a blustery cold section outside even though there were lots of empty indoor tables, then more or less ignored. We went here for a nice dinner and to meet my friend's aunt who lives in Renton. We had a reservation but they were running behind because other people were late for their reservations because of an accident on the freeway, we were seated about 30 minutes late but had a lovely table by the fire outside. The food was very good. My friend's aunt ordered a steak medium and it was brought out very rare! The nice thing that happened is while they were refiring her steak they brought her sides out so she could eat something while we were waiting. My wife and I went there last night for her birthday. We were super excited to go. We had a reservation was were seated quickly. That's all that was quick and good about this place. The service was horrible. We had to wait close to 50 mins to get our food out. Water and soda refills were few and far between. I had the seafood linguine and she had the chicken linguine. The chicken was so rubbery and cold. We were so disappointed. She barley took maybe 4 bites of the plate and couldn't stomach it. The best thing about that night was the French onion soup. Son-in-law treated us to dinner for my daughter's birthday. Atmosphere good and food was awesome. I only wish the tables were spaced further apart as to not have to hear other diners conversation. I had the spaghetti and it was an absolute delite! Tasty and well portioned. Had to ask for water refill which I hate to do. But they were busy but over looked this time. My boyfriend decided to try this place for his birthday, see if we could broaden our favorite restaurant list since the reviews were promising. To boil it down, the vibe and atmosphere feels higher end than most other restaurants - and the drinks we ordered were very nice, BUT... all of the food we ordered was just... so bland. The bread and dips at the start had FAR more flavor than our pasta dishes. It wasn't bad, it just needed more salt or acidity or SOMETHING. It felt not worth the price :( I recommend something with a red tomato sauce over anything else. No hate towards Toscanos, I'm sure some people enjoy it, but it's not for me flavor wise. Oh but the service and wait staff were very nice! Other people's bad experiences that they wrote about weren't what we had, but we also had dinner at 4:30 so, maybe we just went at a good time. read more

The service was lovely, and food was... fine. I wouldn't choose it again. I want to start by saying that everyone was lovely to us. The hostess was friendly, and the waitress was very sweet. My huckleberry cocktail was very subtle. In fact, it tasted like sugar water that once met a huckleberry on the street. My fiancé's root beer was good, and they kept it full. The bread was delicious, but for some reason they were super stingy with the oil and vinegar. We asked for more but it never came. They were also stingy with the dressing on my pear salad (like, a teaspoon on a plate of salad), but it was still good. My fiancé had the ribeye and prawns. He says the steak was not great but the prawns were delicious. My risotto had so much salt as to be nearly inedible, and the mushrooms were a really weird texture. I ate enough of it to feel bad about sending it back and then quit. We did order the creme brûlée, thinking that they could not screw that up. It was delicious but the top was not crispy like it should be. My espresso was incredible, hands down the best I've had outside of Paris. In short, if you visit this place you'll want to stick with wine and pasta. Based on the other reviews, I'm sure it's great! read more

Location my family went to was right off Traffic Ave, in Puyallup, the restaurant was attached to an office building. The presentation of the restaurant was beautiful, the scent of the food pouring out into the lobby was refreshing. Front staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. Assured us our table was being prepared and they will seat us shortly. Sure enough, after about 5 minutes we were shown to our seats. First impression of the dining room was it's a bit cramped. Very small seating area, if you have a party of 6 or more, I would suggest planning to sit outside on a nice day, as there is very limited tables with room for 5-6 individuals in a party. We had 2 of our 3 kids with us, they ordered the Chicken Strips with Spaghetti Bolognese, and Mac N' Cheese. I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese with Meatballs and a side of Sauteéd veggies. My Wife ordered the Bisteca (Bis-Tech-Ah) Alla Florentine and we shared 3 orders of the Artisan Bread. Service was phenomenal, orders taken swiftly and we were made to feel like a priority, our drinks came out quickly and while that was going on our waters were serviced as well. They were pretty busy and the 4 waiters/waitresses that were handling the entire dining room and outside seating was impeccable. The Spaghetti Bolognese with Meatballs was PERFECT! All flavors and seasonings meshed so well, I LOVED the meatballs, they were also prepared perfectly, flavors bursted as you took each bite, amazing portion as well. The Bisteca Alla Florentine had an amazing aroma as it touched my wifes plate she said, and everything had an amazing aftertaste as well that lingered during our drive home, and made us want to go back and order to go to have it for the next day as well! The kids orders we're used to the heat up and serve type meals but the mac n cheese and chicken strips were AUTHENTIC, the cheese and minor seasonings they put on my daughter mac n cheese was amazing, the chicken strips were REAL chicken, and my son expressed his first opinion by saying "This tastes amazing, Dad." I said good!!! I love that! Needless to say, if you have a family/party of up to 5-6, I'd HIGHLY recommend this location. The entire experience was perfect. Disappointed. Very small portion sizes. I ordered their basic noodle dish. Tasted awful. Not sure how you mess up noodles with sauce but somehow they managed to make it spicy and taste terrible. Not only was the atmosphere cozy and romantic, but the food tasted delicious and the service was amazing, the servers went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. I brought my brother and sister here for dinner for my sister's birthday. We started with a couple of appetizers, the Sicilian Calamari and the Cauliflower and Feta, and OMG... they were delicious. We loved them, and my sister is pretty picky and critical about her food, but she really liked both of them too. Both appetizers were full of flavor, and would have been satisfied with these if they were dinner entrees. For dinner, we ordered the Gamberi Arancioni, Seafood Fettucini, and Artichoke Stuffed Chicken. They were again, all full of flavor and delicious. The Gamberi Arancioni wasn't my type of flavor I would prefer, but it was still good and full of flavor. We all liked our entrees. The only thing that would have made this dinner much better was if we did not have to wait so long for our food. Our waitress had realized she had forgotten to put in our order when everyone else around us got their food first. My sister and I was wondering how come three other tables that seated way after us were getting all their food before us. I thought maybe our food was just taking a little longer to cook. The waitress was honest and told us she forgot to put in our dinner order, and offered soup and dessert. My brother took the offer on a cup of minestrone soup, and we shared the Chocolate Carmel Brownie dessert after dinner. The brownie dessert was a good size to share, but we weren't fans of the brownie texture. I prefer my brownies to be more chewy than cake-like. Although we waited too long for food, which ruined plans my sister had for after dinner, our waitress was still very nice. And the food was great. We definitely plan on coming again in the summer to enjoy some appetizers and drinks, especially the Martini Clams, which I have been wanting to try for so long. read more

The server Taylor had no great customer service the moment she came to our table she had this look "oh great this family can't pay for a decent tip" mind you we are just a funny outgoing family. I really have liked Toscanos for many years. My favorite dish was the Spicy Cioppino (Seafood Stew) with shrimp, razor clams, small clams, salmon, squid, etc over angle hair pasta. (After all, what Italian Restaurante doesn't have Spicy Ciappino?) When they dropped the Angel Hair pasta they said they could always add it if desired. NO PROBLEM! Then they dropped Spicy Ciappino altogether from the menu and said the Chef could make it if desired (OK, they're still an Italian Restaurante, right?) Then the last time I asked, not only was it NOT Spicy, there was NO squid, Salmon, razor clams, need I say more? And I had to ask twice for the Angel Hair pasta. I am thinking they're no longer an Italian Restaurant. Sorry to see them go. I'll very likely not be back. But I'm thinking they probably won't notice anyway. read more

I can go on about details and the lack of customer service, warm martini, brittle bread, like a large crouton - but I won't. To sum up, our last 2 experiences I would describe Toscanos as having an identity crisis; the presentation does not meet the experience. For the price point, your staff should know how to serve, not just expect a tip. I received extremely extremely spicy food (after asking our server if the food was spicy and being told no) - so spicy that I had tears pouring upon my first bite. I only asked if it was spicy based on a Yelp review- the dish description says nothing about spice. The server was not apologetic and then charged me for the dish that we sent back because it was inedible and the different dish I ordered to replace it. When I asked why I was charged twice, we were told they boxed up the spicy leftovers but didn't bring them to our table because we didn't ask for them. We've stopped by Toscanos before years ago to have lunch and it was pretty good. We also took advantage of a few of their family takeout meals during COVID and found them to be an excellent, tasty pick-me-up early in the pandemic days. Now that things are opened up, wife and I decided to come by for a late dinner. We left full, happy and most definitely with plans to return soon. Starters: bread, salmon carpaccio and Caesar salad for two. The bread was great with the provided pesto, the Caesar also quite tasty (excellent croutons) and while the carpaccio was decent, we both agreed we likely try a different app next time. Mains: I had the spicy cioppino and wife had sausage cavatappi. The cioppino was superb! Generous amount of fresh seafood, great broth and quite a hit of heat! Wife said her dish was equally delicious. Washed down with a couple glasses of house cab and a beer -- perfection! No room for dessert, sadly. Our server was doubling as the bartender and appeared to be leading the front of the house and he did an excellent job with us, his other tables and his crew. Bravo. Will be back! read more
