So here is my story...this amazing company came out and saved me and my family from this miserable summer heat. I had a competitor (I will blast them on their yelp for sure) company come out on Wednesday 8/1 and they tried to tell me that my unit was shot and going to be an obsolete model in 2020. He told me that that my best option was to go with a new unit and I was looking at approximately 9-10k for a new unit. I have a 1600 sq foot condo and I thought it sounded ridiculously high. This guy just rambler on and on and I had to ask him to leave. So i called Denise at Total Care Heating & Air. After a pleasant convo with Denise and Tim, they said they could come by tomorrow the 2nd between 1-3. So the next day Tim and Mike arrive right on time and checked out the unit. I had told Denise I just needed a fair and honest 2nd opinion the day before. With no hesitation, and knowing my story already, they showed my wife that there was just a loose wire......that's it...... a loose wire...... and there was nothing else wrong with the AC!!!! They could have easily told me and charged me hundreds, thousands who knows, but they fixed the wire in about 5 minutes and after a quick service fee they were on their way. My wife hugged Tim she was so happy. I am so grateful, to this company for not trying to rip me and my family off. It is hard to find great service and honest people nowadays. Our family had our air conditioning and furnace serviced today. Josh showed up on time. He was very knowledgeable, very professional, and nicley groomed. I had a lot of questions. And he had an answer for everyone of them! While he was servicing our furnace he laid drapes down and put foot booties over his work shoes to ensure that our floors wouldn't get dirty. This is my first negative review on yelp. We hired this company to fix our air conditioner because it stopped working a couple nights ago. A man came yesterday morning, checked our entire unit and said we needed a new capacitor. We wanted to make sure our air conditioner was ready for the triple digit weather. A few hours after he left, we smelled a burning smell. We went outside and saw that our fuse box had caught on fire.(pictured below) We called them right away. No answer. I understand they were busy because of the extreme heat, but if they advertise 24 hour availability, we expect at least an answered call. We kept calling, texted the number, but (now 40 hours later) still no answer and the voice mailbox was full. We bought a portable air conditioner but with the extreme heat, it barely cooled the house. We called a different company and our new air conditioning technician just told us that the guy before connected the wires incorrectly which caused the fuse box to catch on fire soon after he left. I've waited to post this review until we could at least get their explanation or for them to send someone to resolve this. Unfortunately, We've tried contacting this company many times to resolve this problem, but have not heard back and their mailbox has been full. UPDATE: Hi Tim, I read your response here. Over due review: (~$20k later + permit still needed) Pictures uploaded* We went with Total Care because we were in a rough spot. Our home was built in the 1920s, therefore, no duct work or prior system for AC. Needless to say we bought the home in September 2017 when we had that ungodly heat wave, AC was a must.. So Cory was the dude who showed up, checked out the place, chit chatted my partner up about financing, the company hiring veterans, options and routes we could take to save a little because we were looking at a ~$19-24k job for our 2 bedroom 1 bath 840 sq ft home. He ultimately told her we could save by obviously going with a less expensive option, reusing parts of our old furnace and not having their company pull permits. He offered to have their staff organize the paper work for permits, stressing it'll be really easy to pull when we had the money, when the time came to do so... you would think already spending $20k they'd throw us a bone, plus we ended up purchasing their maintenance care program as well ($15/month). We've been trying to pull permits for the set up for about 2 months. Been to city hall three times and each time they send us home with a list of things. Mind you we were told it would be a breeze to get it handled at the time of installation. Still no permit and it's the end of January 2018, when were trying to handle this the end of December 2017. Also, contacting staff was slightly irritating via email at which one point I showed up to their brick and mortar to talk to the owner who said I was on his list to handle that day.. I get it running a business you've got a lot on your plate but don't insult me even more when you have me sitting in your office by saying that. I just wanted help sorting the situation out and it felt like they were totally dodging us. Cost to pull permits with their company ~$1200, actual cost to pull with Corona city ~$700. *pictures will be uploaded to show this* Side note: veterans being hired, maybe to be the face of the company because the labor I believe only one dude knew how to speak English. Also, they did a shotty job installing vents, missing several times drilling down so we have patched up holes here and there which doesn't bother me until I realize we paid $20k for this.. *will provide pictures of the vents* They also damaged the main unit set up outside when installing so my partner called Cory back out to look at it, it was scratched and dented in at the base which he took pictures of. Ultimately, it was covered under warranty since they didn't have the parts to replace it they replaced the whole unit. Overall though the equipment is very nice, it's all brand new, smart home set up to where we can turn our system on with our phones even when we are at work to make sure the animals are comfortable. Wish I was leaving a better review for them but at this rate all we really want is what we were told. Permit pending until further update... June 2018 update: Permits have been pulled, not willingly. CA contractors licensing board had to step in and mediate the situation. Permits ended up being less than expected but came with other opportunity costs for myself and my partner. I hope others find this review helpful. This company and situation left us with a very bitter taste towards them and the owner. We gave them plentiful chances to handle this amicably and they decided to ignore us and treat us as if we were in the wrong. Due to poor business practices, I would never recommend anyone to do business with Total Care or if you do save yourself the headache and ignore their recommendations of not pulling permits and just have them pull the permits--- worth it 1000%. read more

Although I ultimately went with my normal HVAC contractor, I have to give a shout out to Total Care. I submitted an online request for a quote. Denise reached out to me first thing the next morning (most places didn't even respond). She made sure to fully understand what I was looking for and had an estimate by the end of the day. When I received the estimate, I had follow-up questions. I called in the late afternoon and ended up talking with Tim. He provided the necessary answers. I was very impressed with the customer service, and the quote was quite reasonable. Based on customer service alone, I would recommend Total Care. read more

After my review, Total Care Heating had Pam follow up to see how we could work together to fix my air conditioner. Pam went above and beyond to assist me with providing my warranty company a price breakdown. The price quote given by Total Care was $6,200 which my warranty company flat out declined. My warranty company authorized me to use another air conditioning contractor. The new contractor investigated the issue and found out that it was a quick repair. Total cost to repair my air conditioner, $250!!!! Total Care heating & air RUTHLESSLY EXAGGERATED the issue with my home air conditioner. The company I ended up contracting fixed the issue within 2 hours, with 1 tech, at 4% of the price that Total Care had quoted me. I should have known better than to trust the advice of their pushy service/sales techs. New recommendation: do your research! There are honest companies out there that want to help you, Total Care is not one of them. read more

All I have to say is that these guys have shady business practices. I called these guys over because my A/C was short cycling. The first guy that came showed me all the "problems" with my A/C heating unit. "Long term options" were recommended. To explain the long term options, he asked another guy from his company to come over and explain replacing the whole unit. On the high end, it was $17,000. Of course, they'll work out a payment plan so I can afford it. If I didn't want to replace the unit, they said it would cost $3177 for the heat exchanger (which he said they don't even make anymore since it's almost 30 years old), $1095 to replace the circuit board, and $608 to replace the air compressor motor. Almost $5,000 for a call due to a short cycle. I was about to google how to replace the circuit board myself (which I found out was only about $140) when I found out this repair is covered under home warranty (less than a year since I purchased the home). So another technician comes over from Lee's heating. He was outraged that Total Care was charging so much. He fixed my circuit board, told me all the stuff these guys were saying was total BS, and charged me $65 for the visit (payment set by home warranty company). No more short cycle. The guys were really nice. But I would advise everyone to avoid them at all costs, unless you want to pay $17,000 to make a new friend. In which case, please call me. read more

Total Care either has a severe lack of skill or a severe lack of honesty. We scheduled an onsite after seeing the great reviews on yelp, but what I experienced was something totally opposite to the ratings. My tech came on site and inspected a few things here and there. Pointed out small issues that ranged from thermostat, brand of the unit, and whatever else he could point towards. After a short assessment he pointed out an issue here and there and then showed the compressor turned off in the middle of operation as well as some issues with the housing of the unit. He said the compressor would have to be replaced and there were massive issues with the unit overall. We ended up sitting down and he presented us with our options. Fix the unit for some thousands of dollars or replace it for five figures ranging from 10k to 20k. Of course this is a big decision so he told us to think about it and check out some government program that could help fund it. Fast forward a few days where we manage to find another tech that was able to troubleshoot the issue and instead of shooting straight to replace the unit, he actually spent the time to fix it. The whole fix came out to two figures. Yes. Less than 100 dollars. I think the issue with this company is how fast they jump to selling a new unit. The tech might have been incompetent in fixing the unit or maybe their service system isn't geared towards fixing, more towards selling new units. Regardless we were looking for someone that could fix our unit, not sell us a new one. read more

We called last minute and they sent someone over almost instantly, id say within 30 minutes of the call. Our AC would run for hours but the temp would just go up in the house. The rep came in and diagnosed the issue fairly quickly. There was a mistake at first with the diagnosis however he realized the mistake before leaving which saved us in the long run. We appreciated the honesty and owning up to the mistake and incorrect diagnosis. Even if you do a job everyday, the same steps constantly, no matter how veteraned you may be, its easy to miss a step or do something backwards. Thankfully the issue was caught before we spent thousands on reducting half the house. When he read the ac coolant levels it read perfect so he checked the ducting which does need to be redone, a bunch of vents arent sealed properlly causing cool air to get in the walls instead of house. However after checking a few other things he noticed and realized that the thing to check the coolant was placed backwards and found out that our coolant was low and we just needed a charge. He came in and apologized for the mistake. Before he left the AC which had only gone up in degrees since he'd been there had finally been cooling down. Life happens people make mistakes but the way he handled it was amazing in my opinion. To go from thinking youre gonna need a couple thounsand dollars of work, to just paying for the coolant was a HUGE relief. I've been sitting on this review for a while. I've thought about it for a long time and finally came to the conclusion that my frustrations and anger regarding this company are indeed valid. I first contacted them in the summer of 2016 because our original HVAC unit was not cooling properly and wanted an estimate as to what it would cost to fix. My wife was almost full term with our 2nd child, so it was important that she have some added comfort prior to delivery. Corey was sent to our house on a Saturday to look at the system and give an estimate. It was noted that there was a coolant leak and that the cost to fix it would be ~$1000, so the question was, does it make sense to spend this money on fixing an 18 year old unit...or put it towards a new efficient unit. To me, it made sense to upgrade to a new unit, so we reviewed what they had. I asked him what brand of units they sell, he said without hesitation "carrier". So we went through the different types and models. I decided on an upper midrange unit with a two stage compressor l, wifi touchscreen thermostat with communication to the unit for any errors on the system. The unit was, to my understanding caller the Day and Night. At the end, after setting up an install date he said, you got nothing to worry about, you have a day and night coming, it's a great unit. Jump forward a few days and I realized that they sell and install quiet cool whole house fans. So I call Corey and ask him if I can add this to the work order and if it would set back our install date. He quoted a price and responded flatly, yes it would set back the install. Frankly I was taken aback, it seemed as though he was annoyed that I wanted to add to the order which may set back the install date, maybe there was a commission aspect considering it was the end of the month? I have no idea. Considering the response I received I said to just keep the install date. This response I received ate at me for a while, so I called and spoke to Tim. I told him that the response I received seemed to be a bit off considering I was trying to give them more money, he agreed and apologized but also told me that I had been misquoted the amount for the fan with install and that it would be more. I told him that I would hold off and maybe address this after the new AC unit was installed. The day of the install came, my wife was at home and she said they got the unit in without issue and that the house was now cooled to 70 degrees without issue! I asked her how the touchscreen thermostat looks, she said it wasn't touch screen, it had buttons on it. Huh... well maybe she was mistaken? When I got home I looked at the thermostat and indeed it was not the thermostat we had been promised. As well, I reviewed the condensing unit outside and it didn't say carrier on the outside... odd... The blower unit inside said "day and night" on it so i did some research, it turns out that Carrier and Day and Night are made by the same company called International Comfort Products (ICP) but that Carrier is their higher level models. So I again call and speak with Tim. I was salty for sure at this point and told him that I was told I was getting a Carrier unit and that I expected them to install a carrier unit. The fact that I was given another unit was like me going to Home Depot, pricing out a kitchenaid dishwasher, paying the price and having a whirlpool installed instead. They are made by the same company but one is a better quality unit. Tim started that they don't carry Carrier and couldn't imagine why I would be told they do. Well Tim, I can tell you why... no one knows who Day and Night is unless you are in the HVAC business, but everyone knows Carrier and instead of taking the time to explain this, they say oh it's a carrier in all but name...hmm... We continued to go back and forth with all of my valid concerns being brushed aside. I finally told him that I feel like this was a bait and switch... As soon as those words were uttered, Tim responded with "that is $%#@ing Bull#%@%". As soon as he swore at me, the conversation was over. Clearly he was obstinate and unwilling to resolve a very valid problem. He said he would tell his guys to never use the word Carrier again and that they would replace the thermostat with the one promised. After this, I never spoke with Tim again. I completed all the complementary services provided and at the last one completed by Tim's son he asked if I wanted to purchase a service agreement. I told him what had occurred and that I don't have the faith or trust in his company. He was understanding and asked that if he was able to get us another year of free service, would we consider it. I told him I would and he said he would talk with his father and get back to me. Well, after this, I didn't hear from them...shocking...I know right? read more

LAc was not working. Josh came out and was super nice, friendly, and professional. Even wore booties in the home. Diagnosed ac for about 2 hours but ended up with bad news. Whole system that is 10 yrs old needs to be replaced. Burnt circuit board, high amps, low refrigerant. Out came the sales brochures with 10 different options all ranging from 8k to 19k. Was going to think about it. Got a 2nd opinion, guy comes in and replaced a $20 part in less than a hour. Ac was back on and working fine. No burnt circuit board, no high amps. Refrigerant ok. Hmmmmmmmmm, dunno what to think at this point. Will eventually replace whole unit but not with Total care. read more

After having a really bad luck finding a plumber (not showing up, not answering calls etc), we found Total Care. We had a leak from ceiling that flooded the downstairs floor after my son took a bath upstairs. I called in the morning and they were able to come right before noon! This made me really happy because we've waited.an hr on Sat and an hr and half on Sunday for a plumber who never even made courtesy call for being behind schedule. Anyways, Cory came with his colleague (sorry...i couldn't get his name) on time, introduced himself and wore boot covers!!! We're Asian family so we don't wear shoes inside the house, and alot of ppl who come to fix stuff will not wear boot covers unless we ask them to. So this was surprising to me. Cory did it again. My air conditioner began to fail on Saturday and the house just wasn't cooling down. I called Sunday and, even though the business was closed, Renee answered the on-call phone. Thank you, Renee. :-) I asked her to schedule Cory since he had been to my home last year to resolve another air conditioner (blower) issue and, more importantly, because I felt he was extremely fair and competent and honest. And, of course, after testing some things in the attic and then on the outside unit he diagnosed the issue. Possibly a bad capacitor and the compressor would not start (he showed me everything outside so I could see what he was talking about). Also, the motor was running really hot and he was concerned it may overheat. However, instead of trying to push me into replacing everything he said "let's just put the new capacitor and hard start kit on to see if that resolves the issue before we even have to worry about the motor or actually replacing the system (it's 18 years old so I wouldn't have been surprised if it needed to be replaced). Bingo. The new capacitor worked like a charm. He did a temperature test and it was immediately cooler in my home. So thankful because I know summer has just begun!! I made my service appointment on Thursday evening and Total Care Heating & Air had a technician at my house on Monday (7.31.17). The tech, Doug, was very thorough with his explanation of our situation and eager to answer any questions we had. I suffer from severe allergies and one of my children has asthma. He was very knowledgeable and gave us several options to figure out what worked best for my family and budget. We choose to replace our 18 year old unit and we're very happy to find out that they were able to install the new system today (8.1.17). We were very happy with the installers- they were very respectful of my home and friendly. It is now 7:00 pm and we are no longer suffering from the heat as we have been for the past couple of months. I recently had Total Care out for warranty work and I am very disappointed. The tech came out for our appointment on Friday and told me the motor had self destructed. He said he would get the replacement and be back Monday morning. Monday came with no call or anyone coming out. I called and spoke to the office manager, she said she had been out and would call me back in a few minutes once she looked in to it. After an hour I called again and she said the tech was on other calls and couldn't come out until the afternoon after about 2pm to pick up the bad motor, stating that they had to return it to the company for the replacement. I have no idea why they don't train their technicians in their procedures. If he had known he could have taken the motor with him Friday. She also said that even though the unit was just barely out of their labor warranty they would have to charge for stating that they needed to be compensated for their time. I asked about my time off from work, for our appointment they missed and she had nothing to say. The technician came back at 1:48 and left with the bad motor at 2:05. The tech returned at 4:18 with the new motor and was done and ready to leave at 4:29. That's a total of 48 minutes with driving time from their shop and back again. They charged me 2 hours at $130.00 per hour warranty work. The tech said he had to go to the distributor and pick up the motor, but if they had taken the motor Friday it could have been shipped to them instead of paying $130.00 per hour for a tech to stand in line. I paid asking for the owner to call me about the charges, the tech had been good to me and I didn't want to get him in any trouble. No one ever called. This company is apparently very poorly run and will not be sent to any of my rentals or get any referrals from me, which is a shame because they original did a good job. They ruined the experience by gouging me for the warranty work. read more

The service we received from our technicians John and Michael was fantastic. They were very knowledgeable and explained everything to me as they checked out our air conditioning unit. They efficiently found the issue, fixed it then verified everything worked by running test on the unit and taking reading inside and out to verify the fix was working. This is a very professional company that is highly dependable and provides excellent service. Thomas was very knowledgeable and after going through a few things he found that our AC was low on refrigerant. He added a few pounds at no additional cost and left the AC running great! The times I have called for assistance, the receptionist always answers "how can I make you smile today". They are very quick to send a repair technician. This time Marcus Williams came out for our service call, he is so nice, very knowledgeable and accommodating to our needs. The service calls have stopped, thankfully. What a great experience! I called them one day, returned call same day. The next day they sent someone out to look at my air conditioner. After it was decided i needed a new unit, the sales rep came out few hours later. It was not a high pressure sale. We decided in the new central air system. The next day Christiano and Eddie showed up to install everything. Those two represent the company well. Both were very nice and knowledgeable of how to install the unit in the attic and outside. Great men, funny and very efficient. During the installation, 2 supervisors showed up. Overall, it was a great experience. You can tell they work for a great company. As an update to what was posted by the owner: Adding the coolant was not the fix but rather in addition to what the other tech did which was to troubleshoot the issue with the faulty part that both techs pinpointed. The house actually began cooling down immediately after part was replaced. Same diagnosis, different routes to a resolution. Actually, Total Care stated that we actually did not need any coolant because we were at a good reading. Never did Total Care state that it was something fixable and instead brought out brochures and talked financing options. I'm sure I will need a new unit soon. Just not that day. read more

Cory came out to my home to do a spring tune up on two HVAC units. He arrived on time as scheduled, very personable and was very clean and tidy. I was extremely happy with the work performed. I was disappointed with the lack of trust I have for repair pricing. Cory showed me a contactor in my upstairs HVAC unit that had a lot of pitting and would be in need of changing to avoid further problems. I asked him how much Total Care charges for that and he told me $236.00. I not only bought the part for $22.00 dollars but installed it in 10 minutes. How can a $22.00 contactor cost $236.00 to replace? That is a $214.00 profit, I know companies need to make money but don't take advantage of people doing it. If it wasn't for this I would have probably left 5 stars because they did everything right up until this. Just disappointed. I wish this company the best of luck in the future but I cannot recommend them for future jobs. read more

I recently had my AC go out with the small heat wave we had a few weeks back, thought we would be able to make it through before needing to have the system serviced and figure out why the fan was blowing but never any cooling, after trying everything in my knowledge, i wasnt having any luck. I called and Marcus was my service tech who showed up on time which was a plus as im used to waiting an hour or two longer. Marcus came in took a look at the system and advised that it was more than likely the fuse up ok the roof unit...sure enough 5 minutes later once on the roof the system was blowing cooler but not cold, he evacuated and recharged the unit and it is now working better than it did new!! Total Care installed a new system in my home in November last year. The installation and equipment have been great and the cost savings in electricity have been better than anticipated. You expect a company to be good during the initial sales process, however, Total Care has greatly exceeded my expectations for their follow-up support. They stand behind their warranty and will do what it takes to make sure their customers are taken care of. I had a minor issue and they sent someone out the same day and made sure the system was running properly. This service call was during a very busy time for AC companies, a heat wave. They prioritized my call and I was back up and running very quickly and I greatly appreciated it. I have dealt with Cory, Thomas, Mike, and the owner Tim. All have been polite and competent. I just had a technician from this company leave my house after telling me they don't work on Hydronic furnaces. The funny thing is I spoke to a representative on the phone that assured me they DO work on hydronic furnaces AND I've had a technician from this same company service my hydronic furnace in 2016 which i gave a good review for. He suggested i call a plumber for the excessive drainage. Don't you guys do plumbing as well? I called back to complain and they apologized and said they will update their information so they no longer take calls that deal with Hydronic furnaces. read more

I only write reviews when its worth to write a review. My AC unit went out around 630pm tonight and i was searching for someone to come fix it right away. With my luck i find out that most business are already closed. The only person that got back to me was TIM (what a life saver). He came down after 45 mins and was able to fix my unit. Mike is amazing and this whole process could not have gone any better. Total care saved the day. So it's cold and raining outside and the furnace goes out at our house. I called total care in the morning, they were here by early afternoon. They quickly diagnosed the problem, (blown circuit board). Mike went out to his truck to see if they had it on hand. Heater went out and I called based on their good reviews. They came by and said my Lennox control board was out that that it would be 1100 to replace. Seemed a bit steep so researched and found the board online for 150 dollars. Wasn't comfortable installing myself so I called Green Comfort and they replaced with the updated board and install for 400. Total Care was nice on the phone but 1 star based off either their ignorance of the true price, or their attempted rip-off price. Heater is working great now thanks to Green Comfort read more

I contacted many companies regarding our 25 year old cooling & heating system. Many never responded, wanted to charge all these little fees, & their customer service was horrible. My AC went out on me Sunday afternoon on one of the hottest days of the year. A friend recommended Total Care, so I gave them a call Monday morning ( keep in mind we are having the worst hot spell all year ) the person answering the phone I think her name is Christine but I'm not certain because I didn't write it down, was so nice and helpful five star service for sure. Well she set me up with a service call for 12:00 or earlier if possible. Christine called me at 11:15 to advise Josh would be arriving around 11:45. Like clock work at 11:45 my door bell rang. Josh was very polite and knowledgable. Within an hour he had my AC running! Josh did not stop there he checked everything cleaned the AC coil.
