Very much appreciated the careful attentiongiven to me by Eric and the guys at TCS. My house was constructed with the wrong size ductwork for the unit. This caused a premature failure of the unit. After talking with Mr. Givens about my options, I decided to "split" my units, adding a P-TAC unit in the wall of my bonus room. Since having it installed (which the guys did in a day!), my bills have been significantly less AND we have more control of the tempature in the home. THANKS! read more

Honest and dependable company. I have been using them for a number of years and have referred them to many satisfied friends.

My heat pump broke, leaving me with no heat or air-conditioning in the upstairs of my house. I called Total Comfort who came out and diagnosed the problem as a blown compressor, and advised my options were: a) to replace the compressor at around $1,500.00 which was not recommended since the equipment is older, or b) the recommended option, to replace the entire upstairs system at around $4,000.00. I couldn't afford either choice so have been heating with a wood stove and using electric blankets in the winter and suffering through the brutal Tennessee summers. Recently I met a new friend who fixes these units and he offered to take a look at it. The first thing he did was check the "capacitor". It was no good. He replaced it and the unit is running perfectly. The part was TEN DOLLARS! He wouldn't let me pay him, but said if he had billed me, the invoice would be $130.00. BAD BAD BAD! Shame on you, Total Comfort! read more

My friend and her family have used this company for all their homes for over 20 y ears and have replaced some of their units and did maintenance and repairs on the family homes for 20 years. My friends unit was running and blowing air but not very strong to cool the home. She turned the unit off in case something was wrong and didn't want to burn anything up until the company could come out to inspect it. She called the company to come out and the tech said the compositor was too weak and a new compositor would fix it and she would have cool air. He tested the unit and could tell the compressor was still working, Apparently after he did something to the unit outside the compressor would not come on at all. After a while he came back and said it was burnt up. Later a friend that is a qualified person came out as a favor and took a look and saw the the duct work was pulled away from the unit. Which is probably what the issue was all along. He took the cover off the outside unit and discovered why the unit would no longer come on. The wires to the compressor had been cut. He also noticed that someone had just put in a brand new capacitor, which is what the Total Comfort tech was telling her what it might be what was needed. The tech told her he didn't do anything to the unit because he then started to claim that the compressor was burned up. Although the tech had confirmed upon testing that the blower and the compressor were working. The tech tried to cover up the fact that he did something wrong to the unit by cutting wires to the previously working compressor. The owner has been contacted and so far has chosen not to resolve this total mistake by his tech that destroyed her unit. The odd thing is that the tech replaced the capacitor with a new one (which can and will be traced) but did not charge her for the new part) because he is trying to cover his mistake. At this point we are not sure if the company has deliberately tried to destroy her unit in order to sell her a new one or if the tech burn the compressor up when he tried to install the new capacitor. ( that could easily happen if he touched a metal screwdriver to something and cause it to arc. We are all waiting to see if the companies owner steps up to the plate and takes care of his tech mistake. He has been notified, but as of today, he is not offering to make this right. What is so sad is that the whole issue was the duct work had come loose from the unit itself and that should of been a simple fix. As a Realtor for over 15+ years, I am sorry to say, I have seen and heard of way too many stories of this sort. Maybe Andy Cordan from WKRN needs to do a story on this. I have told homeowners for years to never leave any workers unattended, while some are ethical, there are just as many that are not. Praying that Eric honors this family that have been loyal customers for over 20 years by doing what is right. I will keep this review up until this is resolved. read more
