Ricky and Will determined that our leaking water heater was shot and replaced it quickly. Our old water heater was an 80 Gallon size and had been installed in January of 1980! The heater was way too large to be removed by two men (our stairs has a weird turn at the top), so Ricky said it would probably take four guys and he would talk to someone at head office to set that up. By the first of the year, I had still not heard anything, which I put down to it being the Christmas/New Years stretch, but called O'Neill after the new year and the dispatcher told me nothing had been set up, but he would talk to Ricky and then call me back later that afternoon. He didn't. I called the next morning and the dispatcher said that there would be a crew out Monday, January 6th between 9 and ten in the AM. We waited all morning before calling the office and the dispatcher contacted the crew who told him they had gotten really busy and decided to skip our appointment. We were never contacted by the crew. We set an appointment for the next day and I emphasized that the heater was huge and they would need some extra guys. A two man crew showed up the next morning and quickly discovered that they couldn't get it out without extra help. They called HQ and another guy came out and after much pushing and grunting, they got the heater out. I have to point out that everyone I dealt with from O'Neill was very polite, professional and helpful. But the extended period that the old heater sat in my basement and the effort to get it removed was a total cock-up. Despite all that, I would gladly use the company again.

When I signed with the management company, I didn't have any say over this and was not allowed to do any repairs myself. So I was stuck with oneill. First time they came out and installed a new Fluidmaster PRO45 "premium" fill valve, new lever (never seen a lever wear out in my life), and new stopper. That premium fill valve is a $20 part (retail) for which they sold to me for $28--whatever. $450 bucks for this visit. Two months later they came back out to adjust the float level, and charged me again. Uh, you should have correctly set the float level the first time. Even if you didn't, you coming back two months later and charging me again proves you value profit over relationships. If it were up to me, I would have never used them again. Fast forward to a little over 5 years later. That "premium" fill valve "failed" and they installed a new one, over $400. No f'ing way a premium fill valve should stop working anything short of 10 years if installed with half a brain in a regular use scenario. Korky makes a less expensive fill valve with a 10 year warranty. For that same $1,000 these clowns charged me over 5 years, they could have installed two brand new toilets over the same time period. Ridiculous.

He not only came over the next day, as promised, he also called before he stopped by to make sure I was home. He took a look, let me know a worst/best case scenario and left me to contemplate my options. I called him later in the day and scheduled him. He sent James over the next morning at 9am. And James was on time. (I'm a sucker for promptness). James looked everything over and went over the troubleshooting steps he was going to take. I crossed my fingers that the worst case scenario (ripping the plaster out of our wall/ceiling) wasn't going to happen. 45 minutes later, it was announced fixed sans wrecking ball. The bill was extremely reasonable, the problem was fixed, they were very prompt and friendly and James left my bathroom cleaner than it was when he arrived. He came after hours to avoid inspection. He also threw dirt on my neighbors property, hitting their house. Our sewer pipe should've been replaced, but instead it was patched for over $10k dollars! He's reckless, untrustworthy and will not hesitate to skirt laws in order to finish the job (poorly) and get paid. Watch out for his "after hours" work. It may be done illegally not to mention incorrectly and to your expense. Do not use Wallingford Plumbing for your plumbing work.

Then the 2 additional that came also joined their conversation and just stood around, distracting to the main person working. No details on labor costs, parts, taxes, and fees were stated on the SOW. We had to sign it since it was an emergency fix that was needed. After some negotiation they eventually reduced the price by a small amount. Nevertheless, they took advantage of our vulnerability. To top it off, they reached out after the invoice was paid, stating they forgot to include taxes. This was an absolute waste on my time due to their lack of attention to detail, professionalism, and management. The entire process was frustrating and lacked professionalism. I had received a text from As You Wish regarding a special for an A/C Tuneup that turned out to be…read moreso much more than I expected. I contacted them to set up an appointment. Tessa, at the office, texted me to confirm my appointment time and included a photo of Rich, my service technician. Rich was fantastic. He showed up on time, was extremely knowledgeable and very communicative. As expected, after his very comprehensive inspection and testing of my Furnace and A/C some serious issues were found. The 20 year old furnace had a crack in the heat exchanger, which Rich showed me on his camera. The 30 year old A/C had lost a significant amount of its effectiveness to cool my home and was wasting a lot of energy. Rich was there almost 2 hours and I got all this at an amazing special price of $29! He asked me if I wanted someone to come out and give me a free estimate to replace my furnace and A/C, and had the office schedule someone to come out when I returned from my upcoming trip. Two weeks later Dan Severt showed up on time to take measurements and collect the information needed to properly size the new systems I needed and provided me with a detailed estimate. He explained my options, explained the installation process, and covered possible financing options. As it was possible for me to get a loan through GreenSky to make monthly payments with no penalty for early payoff and no interest if paid in full within 18 months, I decided to proceed. Dan called the office to schedule the install for me and got me started with the GreenSky loan process. A short while later, Tessa texted me information about my install to begin the very next day. Later Tessa sent me a text to confirm my appointment and included photos of the technicians that would be coming. Next day she texted me that they were on their way and included a tracking link so I could monitor their progress. Technicians Obet and Cody arrived to begin the installation. As is usually the case with 40+ year old homes, and today's updated building codes and newer, more complicated "smart" systems, a few issues popped up. At all times the guys kept me informed of the issues, explained what my options were, and then executed the necessary workarounds. Dan also made himself available to come by personally to see the issues for himself and answer any questions I had and offer advice when asked. A short while later, a highly experienced Carlos arrived to assist the guys with problem resolution. They guys worked really hard from 9am to 10pm in order to complete their job for the electrician coming the next day. They cleaned up the job site and hauled away the old units. Meanwhile, back at the office, Sarah who had processed the necessary permit(s) texted me that she had made arrangements for the two required inspections, one for the electrical work and the other for Snohomish County building code adherence. She informed me that those two entities would reach out to me to set things up. Later I received a text that the electrician, Fredo, would arrive early the next morning. Fredo showed up on time and completed the electrical work in time for Benjamin to arrive. Benjamin completed a checkout, testing and startup of the system and demonstrated how to program the new smart thermostat. All worked perfectly. Without exception, everyone involved was timely, possessed excellent communication skills, was organized and highly skilled at their respective jobs. All of them were positive and courteous and respectful of me and my property. This was, by far, one of the best experiences I've ever had in a job requiring skilled labor! Kudos to As You Wish for having quality people and using quality suppliers for their HVAC systems! I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to invest in updating their systems, or in having them inspect and service their existing equipment. Ordinarily I would have sought out multiple estimates before hiring someone to do such a big job. I have no idea how the cost for As You Wish to do this job compares to the numerous other competitors in this sector, but I'm kind of glad I didn't. Otherwise I may have gone with someone cheaper, who knows? But one thing I know for sure is that I couldn't have found anyone better!
