It wasn't bad advice in principle - it was a 100 year old concrete sewer and likely to fail eventually. It was a cash job and I trusted Ryan to do good work since I knew he was a licensed plumber. I rested easy thinking I had made a wise choice to proactively replace my old sewer. Well, fast forward 12 years to 2022 - I noticed a stench of sewer gas in the house. So, I ordered a sewer inspection to find out what was going on. It turned out there were a few problems. One, we were missing a cap on a pipe which is why we could smell the sewer gas in the house. However, there was also a much bigger problem. It turned out the sewer had failed in 2 places. I hired Phil from Brookside Excavating to repair it (and he was great - highly recommended!) Phil actually knows Ryan professionally and told me he does not have a high opinion of Ryan's work. He explained that Ryan had used: 1. The wrong pipe 2. The wrong fitting 3. The wrong glue ... and that this is why the joint had failed. I had to spend $8000 to redo a job I had already paid Ryan to do. I texted him to let him know, and sent him photos and videos illustrating the problems. His response? He asked me if I could produce a text or email proving that he had agreed to repair my sewer. When I told him I didn't have anything like that, he responded: "Don't try to blame me for your problems." WOW. So, I had to take out a loan for $8000 to re-do Ryan's work, which totally maxed out my credit, as a single working mom. But it didn't end there. One year later, I noticed ANOTHER stench of sewer gas coming up through my outside back drain. So, I ordered ANOTHER sewer inspection. It turns out Ryan's sewer job failed AGAIN, in a different location. Once again, Phil from Brookside came to my rescue and charged me an incredibly fair price because he felt sorry for me and understood the situation. I've posted a photo so you can see what Ryan did. The green sewer pipe that you can see at the right of the photo is what he was supposed to use. However, it looks like he just ran out of green sewer pipe, and figured he'd sub in the black ABS pipe instead. The photo shows the failed joint, and if you look closely you can see that where the two pipes are joined, the black pipe has slipped. So, Ryan's sloppy work = a big fat bill for me 12 years later. Do yourself a favor: Do NOT hire Ryan Hurd. Find an honest plumber who stands behind his (or her) work.

His installation was professionally done, and he cleaned up after each visit. Ryan also installed a recirculation pump which produces instant hot water to the bathrooms that are located on the opposite side of the house where the hot water tank sits. This now saves us several gallons of water each time we turn on a faucet instead of waiting for the hot water to "arrive". I higher recommend Ryan for any of your plumbing needs.

Two weeks and 3 calls later, they got the part, but charged us $532 where the part should have been under warranty. He said it was because he had to pay for the part that should have been free. If they had ordered the part to them in the first place that wouldn't have happened. I would have just gone with someone else, but the part had to be ordered by the company that ordered it apparently. They are having me send the payment to someone's home instead of an office. Clearly that's because they don't have one and why they didn't have the parts sent to them. Be wary!
