I can't believe I've never stopped by this store before today! I was on the hunt for a bottle of rosé champagne. Stopped in, and was really impressed with the huge selection. The layout wasn't ideal, IMO. I saw bubbles/champagne in like 6 different areas and I wasn't sure if or where I could find all of them in one place in order to make comparisons. Nonetheless, I was able to pick a bottle with a little assistance from two employees. I will say that the employees admittedly didn't seem to know much about the rosé champagne selection, but hey, with thousands of bottles in the store, I guess you can't know it all. Bonus points for their wine and beer tasting counters. More bonus points for the fact that they apparently pop nice bottles of bubbles around the holidays and serve them up as part of their penny tastings. read more

This Total Wine has a great selection of not only wines, but every other type of alcohol you may need. The list of wines is endless and will serve even the most finite of palettes. I personally enjoy the fact that they have every international regional wine sectioned off in it's own department, Italian reds, and French whites being an example. The staff are very knowledgeable (as well as opinionated!) regarding their stock and will be readily available to assist customers in finding what they came in for. Be warned you will be carded and questioned if you are in the just 21 age bracket, and walking unaccompanied but you can hardly blame a business for looking after it's own interests. Not sure what happened to this place however the customer service absolutely sucks! Been going here for years with zero problems, now I am not going back. Specifically because of Grumpy Old Margret, she has to be one of the most Hypocritical cashiers on the planet. My wife and I were in line with our two children. Wife was carrying alcohol, so was I. Children, seltzer water and cherry soda. We waited in line until a lady and her kid were done. As we approached the register we all sat our stuff down on the conveyer belt and waited to pay. We then met up with Salty Ol'Margret who gave us this look of hate and of death while she paused.. then she let out this serious raspy attitude "doooooooo yoooooou have ID'ssssssss"... listen I get it the store needs to ask for ID's from anyone who is buying alcohol. Note: I work in a field where I have grown to become a very good judge of immediate character, and Margret was being super salty! I have been to this store with my teenagers for years and never have been approached like this! After confronting Margret about her attitude she took a different "what me" innocent angle and rang up our things. Never once addressing the ID concern as if there was one. Only saying this as the lady in front of us did not get the same treatment with her child, hypocrite Margret did not ask the lady and her kid for ID's. Don't have double standards and treat people differently. If your going to be mean and grouchy then do it across the board. Won't be back to this store! Margret can get part of her paycheck from some other people who feel total wine is the only place to buy alcohol. Would not drink a drop of wine or anything ever again if Margret was the only person able to sell it. I will save my money and my liver... read more

So the GF took me here for my first time, I can say if you are looking for wine then this is your place, if your looking for beers to sample then this is also your place, however if you want friendly customer service then his is not your place. The chick that checked us out seemed like she had better things to do than answer questions. My bad I didn't see the info booth anywhere. I will go back because you can build your own six packs. However if I want a sam Adams I'm kinda out of luck, the selection they have for certain beers is very limited. I love the idea of this place I just wish they had more of a beer selection. I can't find anything wrong here. They always have what I'm looking for. I recently visited to buy a keg for our new kegerator. They have a keg room that you can browse thru, pick the keg you want and take it to the cashier. They require $50 deposit that they keep on file for when you change out kegs. Remember to bring in the receipt when changing out kegs to avoid unneeded confusion. read more

Today was the second time I have gone to Total Wine. I typically get overwhelmed and leave. Today, I was determined to buy wine and learn more. I belong to wine clubs, but I still want to grow. Well, today was my lucky day, Margaret McGinness helped me, wow! She was outstanding. I told her what I had liked in the past and she immediately had several wines in mind for me. She made me feel like I was as important as anyone who may shop there, super nice. She gave me superior service and I plan to make Total Wine my new go to. I am so excited to have her lead the way! Now I can try endless wines because she will know what I like and help me select what I will love! I told Margaret I will be keeping detailed notes on all the wines I purchased today and I will bring them with me when I see her next time for another adventure. Wow this place really has it all! I came here because I wanted Malibu lime rum and it was sold out everywhere else but showed they had it in stock. I work in Folsom and during this time we are an essential business so I decided to stop by after work. This store is so clean and organized. There are signs letting you know where each alcohol is. They even had strawberry Malibu rum so I left with both. The employees were friendly and all had on gloves and masks. They had plastic protectors in front of the registers and blue tape in the lines so no one got too close. Great procedures during this time and I really felt like they were doing their best! Excellent customer care and service. By the way, I really wanted to get lost in here but being the time it is I just got what I needed and left. read more

With my refined tastes and classy lifestyle, it's hard for me to go to places like Bevmo for drinks. Luckily, Total Wine is a new addition to Folsom that is catered for sophisticated people like me. There is an amazing assortment of wine/beers here. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to finding a wine that fits your taste/price/food pairings. They also have wine tasting for only 10 cents which is well worth it. My favorite part is actually their large selection of single bottle beers where you can make your own six pack. From beers found around the world to some from smaller breweries in the US, you can easily try out some of the interesting beers they have to offer without buying a whole case. Only gripe is that it can be difficult to find beers here because the selection is so large. Pinkies up Folsom, you don't have to buy your alcohol from 7-11 anymore. read more

I came here on a Saturday morning because we needed to stock up on wine. I usually have a good experience in this store until yesterday. A nice lady came up and asked me if I needed help. They no longer carry a Merlot wine that I like and she suggested an 1858 wine. I decided to get a bottle of Merlot and she also mentioned that the 1858 red blend was just as good and is her favorite. I Iove red blends. I didn't ask but she even offered if I wanted to try it and that she could open a bottle at the tasting area. She proceeded to get a bottle and placed it by the tasting area where an elderly male staff was pouring. The gentleman for some reason was hesitant to open it because there was already an 1858 cab that was open. The lady left for a minute as she was also helping another costumer. Since there was an 1858 cab that was already open I decided to try it and I thought it was not as bold as the other cabs I have tried. He did not offer to open the red blend that was there so I left and looked for more. The lady came back and I could hear the gentleman saying that he placed the 1858 red blend back in the shelf because I did not think the cab was bold. Eventually, the lady persuaded the elderly staff to open it. I got to try it but he made the experience so awkward. I actually liked the red blend so I got a bottle of it in addition to the merlot. Thank you for the nice lady that helped me. We had the red blend last night with dinner and it was delicious. I will buy more of the 1858 wines but will stick to curbside pick in hope to avoid another unpleasant experience with the elderly gentleman. read more

I attended a Class for Pairing Wine and Cheese Last night. It was very informative and all of the wines and cheese pairing were excellent. I am not that knowledgeable about wine, but I know what I like and what suits me. I have to be careful with the reds because I tend to have an allergic reaction to the sulfites and it causes my throats to itch and feel like it's closing at times. I didn't have that reaction with any of the reds I tasted last evening though. read more

Wow...talk about selection. Rows and rows of wines of all varieties, craft and macro brews, liquor of all sorts, sodas, cigars, snacks....This place has it all, from exotic water from Ireland, to exclusive champagnes from France and everything in between. As a self-proclaimed, avid beer "snob" I was very satisfied with selection at this Total Wine, as well as their prices. There is a down side though. This store is so big and a lot of times I would find myself not knowing where to look. Sensory overload you can call it. They try to keep things clean and organized and mostly it works, but I didn't see any TW&M employees walking around to help out the customers. Maybe it's my fault for not liking wine more? Probably the wine section is better covered then their beer. Also, if they could make one other thing better I would appreciate brews organized by the brewery and not style. You will be able to most likely find what you need at Total Wine, unless you are this hardcore wine or beer geek. In that case, Total Wine might not cut it as it is not on the same level as the best specialty bottle shops you can find in the City. This goes only for bottles that are truly hard to find, as they have everything produced in normal quantities in stock any time. With beer, that fact might be somewhat hit or miss because I bought some bottles here that were way past their prime. I guess you can blame it on the brewery too that they don't print the date on the bottle. For everyday purchases and selection, combined with lowest prices around, Total Wine might be the best option in Sac region. The lack of better customer service and better care towards the shelf life prevent the 5 star rating. Still, for 99% of the customers the selection at TW&M will be more than sufficient. And for me? Unless I am looking for Alpine Brewing bottles, I am perfectly fine with Total Wine too. read more

Total Wine & More has a fantastic selection of beer, wine, and spirits. It has probably the largest beer selection in Folsom, with many craft, macro, and imported options. I love browsing the beer aisles and choosing single bottles to create a mixed six-pack of brews I have not tried before. The downside of Total Wine & More is that the service is just so-so. For such a large store with a vast selection you would think there would be employees wandering the store to help customers find certain items. This is rarely the case. The cashiers are also not very friendly (with a few exceptions). Check the advertisements in the mail for valuable coupons and discounts! read more

Down bad on my knees, heart just broken, I walk into Total Wine to drink my pain away. I walk directly to the Tequila isle, look around and spot Jose Quervo, her favorite drink. I immediately bust into tears and fall to my knees. Then all of a sudden I feel a wet hand on my shoulder. I look up to see an employee. He tells me "don't cry cause it's over son, cry because it happened." His name was Mark Wendy and I'll never forget that face. He then pointed me to a lovely aged Petite Syrah, the taste of that wine made me feel like there is hope left in this world. This is one of the best Total Wine I have ever been to. This location has very knowledgeable and friendly staff. There is always a good variety of tastings available and selections are appropriately varied in price and regions. The points program is extra generous to military. I look forward to tastings and talking with the staff every few weeks. The store manager, Sigrunn Nydal offered to pour my tasting when other employees were not immediately available and she was a wealth of international knowledge and a pleasure to talk to. What a great addition on the shopping scene here in Elk Grove. I enjoy just wandering around checking things out in this beautiful location. The selection of local wines is much better than BevMo's. The fun gift aisle has unique items I would buy for myself and others. I recently got Christmas gift cards for my coworkers here and they were very pleased. The employees there have helpful advice and recommendations. I liked the Key Largo rum that I recently purchased, tastes like Captain Morgan for about half the price. !!!! IF YOU DON'T LOOK OF AGE, DON'T BOTHER!!!If I could leave a zero, I would. I just recently turned 21 and was looking forward to purchasing alcohol from them for the first time but was let down by my experience. As soon as we entered the store, I was met with weird looks and being followed through every isle like a child. It was clear that they though we were underage and about to book it out of the store with alcohol because we were watched like hawks and an employee was waiting outside the door to be able to catch us if we tried anything, which, to their surprise was the opposite of my intentions when I walked out with a bag and a receipt in hand. If they had simply asked for my ID at the beginning there wouldn't have been an issue and I wouldn't have needed to be followed. My boyfriend (also of age) did not have his ID and tried to make a separate transaction to literally buy bar mix (the crackers and pretzels and stuff) and the man at the register told him he wasn't even allowed in the store if he wasn't 21. We assured them that they lost customers and left. Rest assured we will not be back again. Not until their employees can learn some common decency at least. And don't bother with an "I'm sorry that is just our job" response because I've had better experiences at gas stations. read more

Did I mention they carry booze here? Booooooze. What the eff? There are large bottles of everything then the tiniest, most adorable (yes, adorable) bottles of booze. Like booze to-go. Except you want to save those bottles until you reach your destination, ya drunk. They have accessories too. What's that you say? You don't want to be trashy and drink your wine from the bottle? They have glasses. Need someone to cork that with? They have those corking things. Need a bag to hide your booze in so you don't feel like a lush? THEY HAVE GIFT BAGS. "To me, love me." Have a boozer in your life? They have wine gift baskets around Christmas. Happy Holiday's, now go get drunk grandpa. And want to tell someone you love them with wine, but want a card to go with it? They have wine themed cards. Who doesn't love a booze themed card WHILE opening booze and then immediately drinking said booze?! No seriously, who doesn't love that...please tell me. Great selection! But here's a warning: don't plan on going in unless you have grey hair or obtrusive wrinkles. This place saddens me. I felt like a criminal for buying a 6-pack of beer. My friend and I were hounded down the moment we walked in and were demanded to show ID. At first this was fine and we completely understood, however that process occurred multiple times before we made any purchases. As twenty-somethings, we are not exactly the type of clientele that the store wants to continually harass. Both my friend and I work in the food and beverage service industry and are well versed on carding culture. This "protocol" is absolutely ridiculous and is bordering on harassment. I felt like the victim of agist discrimination (yes, there is such a thing). I understand the need to validate the customers age during alcoholic purchase and consumption, but your logging methods are completely whack. While checking out, the cashier wrote down my friends drivers license number on a small slip of blank paper and slid it under the keyboard. A week after this happened, my friend and I went back in to the store asking to speak with management to gain more insight to why this happened. We were a bit uneasy about our information being recorded. The front manager tried to assure us that the cashier did not write down a drivers license number and was instead completing a valid form listing customers birth dates. Neither happened. We know what we saw. Her birthdate was not transcribed on a form. Thank you for easing my worries, mister manager. You failed. Protocol? I don't think so. Get an ID scanner so your minimum wage cashiers don't steal your customers information. Thank goodness BevMo is down the street and Sellands Market is just up the hill. Here we go with this feeling of being too generous again. But hey, you can't deny a 5 star place their 5 star rating! Ever since the first time I stepped foot in Total Wine, I already began wishing there was one in Elk Grove instead of a Bevmo. I can't believe how low some of their prices are on some of their spirits. You can find the same bottles they sell for $10+ more at other places. What I really like about them is with some of their alcohols, they get it directly from the company, meaning there's no middleman, which means no middleman prices. Another reason I like this place is because they have a walk-in cigar humidor. It's monitored via security camera, but no one comes in keeping an eye on you. They have a huge selection of cigars and even their cigars are greatly priced. One cigar I bought, Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Toro Tubo, was only $9.99, while I saw the same cigar, but in Robusto, at Bevmo for the same price. (great cigar btw...i'd recommend that cigar) Anyways, huge selections of alcohols and cigars, and other things, and all for low prices. Like I said before, I wish there was Total Wine in Elk Grove, but for now, I guess I'll settle for stopping by here every time I'm in Folsom. read more

Been wanting to go here (or to the one in Sacramento) ever since my cousin, who lives up here told me about it. I live in the SF Bay Area, and the closest thing that comes to it is either Costco or BevMo and this blows both places out of the water both on size and selection of beer, wines and spirits. My main objective was to check out and if something caught my eye, buy some craft beers that couldn't be found near me back home. I wasn't disappointed. If only my wallet were a bit thicker, I would have brought home more than the 3 bottles that I did get: Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence Stout, Dogfish Head Black & Blue and Avery Brewing, The Reverend, Belgian-Style Quadrupel Ale. Total out the door: $34.26 They have an incredible selection of both domestic and international craft beers. My only complaint was they didn't have more (and the Goose Island Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout that I really wanted) I will certainly be back, either to this location or Sacramento's next time I'm up this way again read more
