I went to Total Wine to pickup a 750mL bottle of Don Julio Blanco, which is Very smooth. I asked a sales person "Where is your Don Julio Blanco?" and he replied "It's in the back, but we do have a Don Roberto 1924 Anejo Cristalino that's better than Don Julio in my opinion and it costs less." Don Roberto Anejo is Not smooth, burned my throat, and gave me a headache on my 3rd shot. I waited a week, tried it again, and same results. A close friend of mines said Total Wine did the same thing to him with the same alcohol in a another city one hour away. We both ended up pouring out our bottles. We are Afro-American. I went in with my over 21 sister and we were checking (sister was buying alcohol FOR HERSELF) and her id was checked some dude came over and she said my mom is in the car but we didn't want o give her one more thing to do so we just said let's just not get the alcohol. Great lay out of a store. The service here is excellent. I like the professionalism and knowledge of the employees. I've got some celebrating to do in the near future and they had the items I was looking for. The person I was shopping with noted the prices can be a little confusing if you're trying to purchase single bottles or items. They have a nice selection of champagne and whiskeys. I've never shopped the whole store because of time, but it seems they have all drinking supplies and then some. At first I loved their membership program, not because of the lousy $5 after spending beaucoup money and after accumulating 5000 points, but strictly in order to surpass the 25000 points mark in a year worth of purchases and get my hands on a highly allocated Bourbon. Well, three of those drawings went by and nothing. I get that super upsetting email from them saying " unfortunately, this time, you were not selected to buy a bottle". First they get you all hyped up and excited. They even ask you to choose to rank your preferences and then the email. They had sent me emails previously and asked me what I think and I had told them about how upsetting these email are to customer like me. I had suggested raising the 25K mark if they had to but GUARANTEE a bottle. Not just drop the email and piss people off. We split up because we were both looking for different things. Now, anyone who's been here would know everything is sectioned depending on what kinda buzz you're looking for. Found what I needed, then big bro asked me if to look for this specific imported beer. I guess it was obvious I had trouble finding it, so a crew member asked if he could be of any help. I asked and he knew exactly where it was. Score. We also asked for a certain type of whiskey, and off the top of his head, he knew where that was, too. He even suggested another brand to try. These items aren't very common, so it was quite impressive that he knew where they were without thinking about it. I was impressed enough to give them their 5th! Here's hoping they maintain it! I used to come here often when I worked in Redondo. I came back after a couple of years and I'm disappointed. I was walking around looking for the tequila section, keep in mind, they rearranged the store since the last time I was there. So I took about 5 mins to find the tequila, the whole time I felt like the person working on the floor there assumed that I was attempting to steal and was questioning me on what I was looking for, I like to try different ones that catch eye so I really don't have an answer. I've been to BevMo in my area many times and have done the same thing in taking my time to shop and I've never once been harassed. This location is conveniently located on Hawthorne & 182nd street. It's across the way from Ralph's & next to Freebirds! It's big and clean. It has its own parking lot but gets pretty packed. They have beer tastings, and a very large selection of wines. I come here often to try out a new bottle of wine almost every week. It's the perfect place to go to grab mini bottles of liquor, snacks that pair with adult beverages, chocolates, different ales, liquors, and gifts. My husband loves the IPA's and they normally have a good selection at a more reasonable price compared to the grocery stores. Total Wine is a huge store with incredible selections (over 8,000 different kind of wines and thousands not just on wine but any other alcohol. They have weekly wine tasting and classes. Their wines are cheaper then BevMo and they open until 10:00PM! I found my brand of Syrah that I haven't seen anywhere else but up north. I went to pick up an order that was placed online on my OWN account under a company card that has a company name on the card and the employee at the pick up counter would not let me pick up my OWN order. She said to call customer service and tell them to identify you. Hello I am standing in your FACE with my ID and name on my account showing her the order and email confirmation with my account information- order number and what is there to identify?????? How do you ID someone over the phone if they can't see my ID... and what more do you want???? I was so confused. But she wouldn't give me my $150 wines (not cheap!!!!). She said you need to put in a THIRD PARTY Name in PICK UP in the order. I said I AM the account holder and the order is for me- I am NOT a third party person- why would I put myself as a third party person??? She said the order is for the name on the credit card used for payment and that's not your name. So my card is a company card with a company name so my office building is supposed to come pick up my wine???? The card is not in my name so I can't pick up my own wine that I paid for, for the company????? What are you smoking??? She said no your name had to be added so that it shows the person's name /your name - as the person that is picking up. (*_*)? That is the most dumbest thing I've ever heard. She said, you know it's alcohol so we can't just let anyone pick up. Helloooo I'm not "just anyone" I am the account holder and the person making the order and paid for it already!!! So what if it's alcohol??? What difference does that make??? Give me what I paid for!!!! Aaaand I am 55 years old with all gray hair I am obviously not trying to pick up alcohol as an underage girl. Lol!!! This employee has my ID in front of her - it's my name and my email is also my name where the confirmation was emailed to... my address is a gmail with my name, what do you want??? Meanwhile I'm still on hold with customer service 10 min. on hold no one picking up so I hate doing this, but I had to go Karen on them- can you get the manager? This is not going to go anywhere, what is the customer service person going to do any different??? What can they do that you can't do???? No one's picking up I'm not going to be on hold for an hour, I need to get this wine to someone who is taking it to Japan now, I need to go!!! How stupid is that? So she calls the manager, but there is no one available so she reluctantly tells me, after wasting so much time - Ok I'll let you pick it up this time but next time all you have to do is put your name in the Third party pick up and your name will show up as the person who can pick up. Oh Really? Well that's not ever happening again, because you just lost a customer who buys a lot of expensive wine for clients. I hope you change your policy and let the account owner pick up their own wine. It should not matter what credit card was used for the purchase, that should not be what comes up as the person making the order. I have used my husband's credit card to make online purchases and can go pick up anything anywhere, like if you paid with cash, does it matter where that cash came from??? What if it came out of my brother's wallet are they not going to let me buy anything??? Why does it matter what credit card name was used to make an online purchase???? It's my company name card. And please don't bother posting your generic apology response- We are sorry to hear blah blah blah it's all the same copy paste message that shows you don't care at all. That's not an apology at all. We know how to get a hold of customer service we can find that info on our own thank you. If you care then please listen to the customers and really reach out to them so they don't have to reach out to you. I was not mean to the employee as it is a company policy I guess... unless she was trained wrong then that's also the company's fault. I can't be the only one that had this issue and will tell you to make sure to change your order form in the website so that if an order is made with a different name as the credit card name then a pop up box should appear so that you can put the name of the person picking up- so it's not called a Third party pick up- because it's NOT a third party picking up.
