After discovering there was a new boba place near my house I was pretty excited to try it out but was left a little disappointed. I ordered 2 drinks this afternoon and let me start with what was good before I get into the bad. The tapioca was solid and they had a pretty wide variety of flavors. However, the taste of the drink was pretty bad. I ordered the mango milk tea and a horchata. The horchata was okay - it was sweet and had the right flavors but the mango was undrinkable. I got a black tea boba, and the tea was so overcooked and bitter that the caffeine density pulled my taste buds out of my mouth. For some unknown reason, I kept drinking the tea, thinking it would somehow get better over time. Halfway through, my constitution failed and I mentally broke. Honestly, this place is just ok. Let's start with the things they do great in: the signature & holy Thai milk tea where great. The staff is nice, & the products are aesthetically pleasing. However, they don't offer customization to drinks & they offer free milk tea if you give a 5 star review...way to skew the ratings! There is a girl that works here, she is a student. Every time I visit she always seems annoyed. She's usually on her laptop doing homework or on the phone. When you enter she hops up and runs behind the counter. It's 2023 so I understand the culture is pretty lax these days but I found it very uncomfortable that she took my order while on FaceTime with someone. I ordered 2 Regular(Small) bobas which are completely overpriced. My total was $14.08. I had cash and gave her $20. She asked me if I had 8 cents. I did not have 8 cents. She then told me she did not have change to give me if I paid with cash. I did not have a debit card on me at the time. So I ended up having to leave because there seemed to be no solution as to how she and this BUSINESS could make this transaction work. Could we have applied a discount? Rounded up, rounded down?
