Been here twice now to try to get my hair to match my bright golden blonde extensions. Hair cut the 1st time was amazing. Color came out more of a sepia/ashy blonde. Second time had to see another stylist because the original stylist was going to be out of town for my appointment. Cut is ok, but we had to tone my hair twice because it looked the same ashy blonde after the first toner. The color is nowhere near my extension color that I asked for, and they charged me for the extra toner to try to fix their color mistake. After spending $200+ and leaving a second time unsatisfied, I don't think I will be returning here. Nice people for sure, but very frustrating to leave with a different color every time that is now even further away from what I asked for. read more

Wow, Strut is amazing! I needed my hair done BADLY, so I called and got an appointment for the very next day with Anthony. I bleached my hair a few months back so it was super blonde with a few inches of dark regrowth. I didn't want the maintenance of dying my hair every couple months, but I didn't want dark hair either, since I'm naturally a blonde, just not as blonde. I wasn't sure what to do, but fortunately Anthony knew exactly what I meant and described just how I could make it natural looking again, while staying blonde and really beautiful. Anthony was amazing, he made my dark roots blend into the rest of my hair, a little darker on top and blending into a beautiful blonde. Now I'll just have to get highlights if I want to lighten up my look. I loved what Anthony did to my hair so much, I made a follow up appointment for highlights in a couple months. One of the worst haircuts I have ever received. I had my haircut by the owner, Anthony, and figured that I would get a great cut at the cost of $75 plus tip, but I was wrong. I had to go back because the cut was horrible and way too short. I have lines on the side of my hair because it is way too short. I did go back but, obviously, not much can be done as you can't add length to pixie length hair. I just have to live with it until it grows! Ugh!!! Also, the color that was applied when I had my haircut was not very good and it had to be redone. I have a lot of gray, which they knew and it didn't take. What a waste of money; $190 for a cut and color? I requested a full refund but never received a response. I like a bargain, so I usually go to Great Clips for a cut once a year or so. The last time I went, the stylist butchered my hair. After that, I decided I'd just let it grow out for a while because I was still traumatized from the Great Clips cut and finding a stylist seemed daunting and expensive. It wasn't until I started planning my wedding that I decided to find a stylist. A little research on Yelp led me to Anthony at Strut. I asked for a simple cut and I was quite happy with the cut (and service) I received. Today (nearly 4 months after my wedding) I visited Anthony again. This time, I asked for a long inverted bob. I was blown away. I didn't think I would ever love my hair, but I now LOVE MY HAIR! The price certainly isn't as low as Great Clips ($75 out-the-door for a cut), but when I'm getting a great cut and great service, I don't mind so much. read more

Since my first visit in February, the stylist, Courtney moved. So I tried out a different one here. Allison is truly amazing! She's done highlights, color touchups, cuts and toning on my hair, and just recently took me back to my roots (darker brown). I LOVE IT! I went in just wanting to go back darker, and I told her I trusted her and to work her magic. She worked around my covid mask (everyone there had one on as well), and didn't make it seem awkward (it probably was). I felt like a million bucks when I left. I love this salon! I haven't been able to find a stylist that I love for probably like 8 years. I called TouchUps and was paired with Victoria. She cut over 10 inches off my hair so I could donate it. I loved the cut! I have very thick hair and Victoria was so detailed and texturized it and made sure I didn't look like a triangle head when I left! I went back to get a fun fall color from her too which I absolutely love as well! Their receptionist and staff are really nice. It's super easy to book an appointment and they send you reminders and emails on what's going on with the salon which I think is great. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing Courtney is! She was referred to me by a dear friend that has been getting her hair done with her since she was in cosmetology school. I had been reluctant to try a new artist since I was happy with where I was at. But, as inpatient as I am, I wanted to go somewhere ASAP and get my hair refreshed. Both of my daughters got their hair cut here for the first time a few weeks ago. Based on the great reviews, we had no hesitation scheduling one on a Friday and the other the next day. The stylist had great reviews and the hair cut was VERY expensive but, my 17 year old had very long hair and she wanted an edgy short cut and my 18 year old has super thick curly hair and she wanted several inches and thinning/layering so I was willing to pay more for a good, quality cut. My 17 was going from super long to quite short so she brought in several pictures of what she wanted...chin length, edgy, messy, curtain bangs. She was clear that she's not one to curl her hair, she wants no fuss. After the cut, the stylist and the assistant each curled one side of her hair so she ended up with two sides that didn't match. No big deal, everyone has to learn. But, she left with curled hair so she couldn't really see the cut. Despite saying that she doesn't curl her hair, she figured it was fine, it was a different look for the day, no big deal. So, my 18 year old goes in the next day and gets her hair cut. Her hair is wavy / curly. Her cut is fine, she leaves with her hair in her normal style...wavy. That day, my 17 year old washes her hair and tries to style the cut like the pictures...messy, edgy, modern. But, what she has is a poofy mom bob. She can't do anything with it. She has a lot of hair and the way her hair was cut did not take into account the volume of hair she has so she ended up looking like a 50 year old mom. It's not good. She's upset, we spend over $100 in different products trying to figure out a way to style this cut and nothing is working. She is self conscious, uncomfortable and it's just bad. We call into the salon the next week and are told the stylist is out of town for the week. They end up scheduling her with Santiago to get it fixed and she does end up with a much better cut the second time. So, it's been about 2 weeks since the cut and earlier this week, my 18 year old with the curly hair decides to straighten her hair. Once her hair is straightened, we realize that the cut is just not good. The layers do not blend. In the back, she has one layer that goes straight across about 4 inches from the bottom of her hair. It looks like someone literally took scissors and cut a straight layer across the middle of her hair. Did I mention how incredibly expensive these haircuts were? She wants to go somewhere else to get it fixed but we definitely won't be back. read more

Let me start by saying, I've always been very particular about who does my hair. I've had very few people in my life as my stylist and they always come from close personal recommendations. A few years ago my niece was getting her hair done for a formal dance and her mother and I accompanied her. When we showed up at the salon it was just a couple of chairs in a small room of a building filled with stylists, barbers, and other cosmetology services. Our first experience with Anthony was nothing short of amazing! First, my 17 year old niece came out looking AMAZING and feeling even better! Second, Anthony was so incredibly welcoming and his fun-loving personality and obvious desire to provide the best service made us feel amazing as well (and we didn't get a cut that day). Anthony has expanded his shop to a beautiful location that is open and welcoming to all. The lighting is fantastic and the ability to chat with other clients and stylists make it feel like I'm having drinks with the girls. That was years ago, and I cannot see myself going anywhere else. I've recommend friends, family and even my own mother (she's more picky than I am). Anthony has never failed to provide outstanding service, great conversation and welcoming salon. I tend to arrive a few minutes early so I can chat with Sklyer at the front desk, and I always try to bring in coffee for the team. Am I trying to "suck up" a little bit, YES, but that's because I truly appreciate the quality of service and product that TouchUps provides. Each time I leave TouchUps I walk a bit taller. I know that as soon as I get home my husband will say, "We've got to go out to night, you look too good to stay home". My husband and I have been together for decades and seeing that "look" in his eyes is something that makes me feel great, and Anthony and the TouchUps team deliver that moment after every appointment. I've had a very mixed experience with this salon. When I first called to make an appointment, I mentioned maybe wanting a balayage. I was told that to get a balayage than I would need to come in for a consultation. I've never had to do a separate consultation prior to my hair appointment before and honestly, don't have that kind of time available so I switched to a normal highlight. I go, am greeted nicely at the desk and told my stylist Victoria is running a little late. Little late turned into 40 minutes of waiting. She was nice enough and my hair turned out ok at the end of it, or so I thought. After paying close to $300 for the cut and color (more on that in a minute), I realized she had fried my blonde hair. I've always had healthy blonde hair and the amount of breakage from this hair color actually made me cry. I've had to spend close to $100 on specialty shampoo and conditioners just to try to salvage it. After that, I figured I was done there. I got a call from the owner awhile later saying that Victoria had left and he was offering me $100 off my next appointment to come back. I figured ok, I'll give it another go with someone else. After a few months I finally felt my hair was in a decent place to get highlighted again. The day of, I get a call saying my stylist was running late and if they could move the appointment back 30 minutes. It was short notice, but I said yes. I arrive and it was deja vu. I end up waiting again for another 30 minutes so even though I left work early for this, I started an hour after my original appointment. The one good thing about this appointment was the stylist Courtney. She was very knowledgeable, pleasant to speak with, and really wanted to help get my hair back to a healthy place. My hair turned out nicely and looks much better than last time. This time it ended up being around $130 with the discount. All in all, I wouldn't be able to go back to this place again for two main reasons. I can't get over that two separate times I had to wait almost an hour because the stylists were late and then the cost. Without the discount, this place will run you between $250 to $300 every time. That is insane. I didn't even pay those prices living in San Diego where everything is more costly. Courtney was lovely and I would really recommend her to anyone. Unfortunately, I can't deal with this experience again. read more
