I have been here a few times and typically only get one pastry for breakfast . I paid with card as most of us do . This last visit I was going to do the same, and apparently there is a brand new rule that you must spend a minimum of $6.00 to use a card . That is the highest minimum amount I have ever encountered to use a debit card . I only needed and wanted one pastry for breakfast and I don't usually carry cash. I was looking for a good bakery in OC. Found it today. When one enters the store, you can smell the aroma of fresh baked bread and pastries. Tried the almond croissant. Never have I tasted a croissant with filling of a paste inside and crispy top. The green tea cream cake is moist, light, with light cream. Most of cakes from other stores are extremely sweet to my taste. This shop adds just the right amount of sweetness to the cake. Also bought a veggie sandwich of purple color bread. This weekend I made a visit to this bakery to get a birthday cake for my mom. Similar to other Korean/Asian bakery places, there are various bread options you can choose from and you can grab whatever you like using a tray and tong. Near the cashiers place there are cake options you can choose from (small, medium, large or by the slice) and they also have macaroons and popsicles. They do have a select list of drink options but they don't serve boba here, which can be a downside for many people but I find that as a good thing. Let the boba places deal with boba. This is a bakery so why not focus on the quality of bread instead of spreading your energy thin and be mediocre at everything? We decided to get the coconut red velvet cake and we enjoyed it. They had other creative cakes like a pink cake with a pig features decorated on it. I loved how there were a couple macaroons as a decoration on top of our cake and they were really well made! The cake itself was super moist and wasn't cloying like some cakes you find at grocery stores. The other breads we got weren't anything special and were comparable to other breads at competing businesses. This is my first time coming here and customer service is horrible. I work as a sale associate in the mall and the way they treat their customers is not even close to how customer service should be. I came in to order a 6 piece macaroons and 2 pieces of cake. I was the only one at the counter with my boyfriend and we were the only ones there. The employee saw me at the counter and didn't acknowledge and say she will be with me in a bit. Instead she went in the back again after 2 minutes behind the counter and putting stuff away. It was only 7:30pm. I had to say excuse me to her because I thought she didn't know I was there and she said I'll be with you. When she took my order, this is how it went: Me: can I get a 6 piece macaroons and... Employee: (cut me off) ok you need to pay 1st. Me: ok, but I... Employee: you need to pay 1st Me: OK, but I'm also ordering other stuff too that's there (pointing at the cakes) Employee: oh ok, $24 She told another employee to help me out; which was fine, but I didn't know she needed to restock the popsicles where I was standing to point which macaroons I wanted. The employees have always been polite. I'd have to say that out of the pastries I have tried...their taro and green tea buttercream bread are winners! Perfectly sweet and fluffy with the right amount of buttercream! You can really taste the taro and green tea flavor. You can't go wrong with either one! Something I'd buy over and over again. Customer service is a hit or miss at Tous les Jour - Fullerton. The cashiers are constantly changing at this location. Managers should train their employees to be courteous and have a positive attitude towards their customers. Today I had a cashier who appeared to be in a terrible mood and left such a negative experience when I paid for my items. I waited awhile for my drink. Nevertheless I won't be coming here again. Terrible overall experience! Unless you are an old Korean lady or are Korean-speaking, the customer service was rude, disrespectful, and awful! I was passed over twice (Employee said he did not see me or thought I was with some other Asians in a group party), and I waited 15-20 minutes for a small order, even though I was thee first person in line! The macarons, pastries, and boba drink were terrible, not fresh, stale, and my drink was made completely wrong! My drink order was a: Strawberry Black Tea + honey boba, and I was given a Peach Green Yogurt Tea with super hard and chunky boba that wouldn't even come up the boba straw! The lavender latte is what brought me back to this place! My first visit was not so nice, the woman who helped me was extremely rude. I was new to the shop and asked her how I ordered ( you get a tray and can pick your pastries, take it to the counter and order your drinks). Tous Les Jours has been opened for about a year and got an immediate bad rap from supply shortages, staffing problems and such involved with a new opening. Now, it's kind of great. The store is fully stocked, the staff is a bit nicer, and the prices are great. Ordered: Iced Coffee - this is a very basic bakery shop coffee. Medium brew and whatever it is has no real notable characteristics. It's definitely better than starbucks or coffee bean but no where near an artesian coffee. Why the 5 stars? It is $2.50!!!!!! Best value iced coffee in the areaaaa!!! Score: 5/5 Baked bread with custard - The bread is fresh, a bit too moist, but there's that nice bread bounce. The custard is amazing. Ratio if custard to bread is perfect. this item is also cheap: $1.70!!!! Score: 5/5 Location: Tons of parking, location is clean, display is well stocked. Not the best coffee or baked goods in the area but it wins in value and service. I will be back UPDATE: 1/26/2020: I came back after some time and ordered the same items as last time. But alas, the prices for all of their goods have gone up. Service is still excellent but the value is not there. Also, I came in at opening and most of their pastries were not out. HORRENDOUS service at this location. I typically order whole cakes from the Little Tokyo location in LA so when I moved to the OC I was waiting for the opportunity to come when I could get a cake from this location and boy was I wrong. I had pre-ordered a cake for a friend for a birthday last minute and scheduled a time later that day to be able to pick it up fresh hoping it would be ample time as it has always seemed their bakery was able to do in the past. Upon walking in and standing in line, one of the staff members just disregarded us completely and finally when we got to the head of the line, they said we needed to wait as they were getting the cake ready in the kitchen. Then after 10-15 mins, that same woman comes out, starts putting together a box and just takes the display cake while the baker was saying something to her which was inaudible in the busy store. By her body language and pointing to the cake that we had ordered, I assumed it was due to them no longer having the fresh cake that we had ordered or this being the last one either way, the woman packaging the cake, shushed the baker and went on to put our cake into the box. We were just expected to take the display cake without even consideration. Also, the cakes are not that big, they're a little bigger than the circumference of an average hand for $40+ you would think the least they could do was give us the opportunity to see if we'd want the display or another. I really don't enjoy leaving less than stellar reviews but maybe some constructive criticism can help this location. I've not been there twice, my second visit just 20mins or so ago in fact. Let's start with the positives: Location: Excellent. There is plenty of parking due to it being in a large retail and restaurant area. There is plenty of indoor seating as well as an outdoor patio. The chairs and tables were very comfortable to work on (quite a rarity, I find). Food*(but wait, there's more!): Delicious. The breads are superb, pastries on point with the sweetness levels. My favorite snack was the walnut chicken sandwich. The softness of the bread and generous chicken inside made me stop and stare at it after the first bite. It was my main drive to go back again. I also fell in-love with their sesame donut. It was very mochi-esque and pronounced sesame flavor that I love so much but can't find everywhere. Slight pro, they have wifi but I wasn't about to test it out. And the cons: Food: Their drinks menu is just mediocre. The coffee is meh. I ordered a Strawberry Latte which was really pricey for the size. I didn't drink it right away and about 30mins or so, I looked at the drink again and it's now 3/4ths of an inch below the top of the cup. The drink was also bland, very mild strawberry flavor and not sweet enough. I ended up adding more sweetener at home to finish it. Also about the food. Though I thought they were VERY good, they are not kept well-stocked. On my visit today, I'd estimate that the cases were about 50-60% empty. There were no sandwiches available either. This was at 10:30AM. Price: They are on the more expensive side of Korean bakery chains. They have the quality (if you can find them in stock) but it's not as competitive as others and they're great too (see 85 Degrees down the street). I really love their product, that's why I came back again for a second time in a week, but what's the point of returning if they don't have the items I specifically went there for? Another thing. even if they don't have items in stock but their drink menu is much improved, I'm more inclined to buy something to drink and stay there to work for a bit and maybe order more drinks. If they can improve on both food stock and drink quality, I think it would boost ratings and have more happy customers. read more

First things first! The bread! My favorite one is a peanut streusel topped bread (Soboro), it is the softest one I've ever had. I go to a few similar bakeries that have that specific bread and at this place is perfectly baked. I don't understand the reviews about unfriendly staff... I've gone in there many mornings and always get a very nice greeting, even when I run in just for one bread and a cup of coffee, which is good! I was there once after walking my dog and just wanted to sit for a bit. I was surprised that they said I could walk inside and sit in their side patio ! I was surprised because my dog is over 100lbs. I frequent this bakery and of all the Asian bakery franchises, this one is the only one where I've gotten consistent professional and polite service. Around Christmas, I must have asked the poor girl at the counter like 15 questions about one of the Christmas cakes, and she still answered me thoroughly and politely. Sometimes I bring my 4 y/o daughter in to pick out french macarons, and they have always been patient and kind with her indesiciveness. I'm hard of hearing, and there was a time where I was very embarrassed to ask the cashier to repeat what he had said 4 times, and he was still smiling and polite with me. Their cakes taste much fresher than of most of these types of chains I've been to. It doesn't taste like stale sponge cake with a watered down buttercream. The only problem I've ever had with this location is the lack of variety. They seem to be out of a lot of things all the time, with minimal baked goods left out until closing. The pastries are fine sometimes, a hit or miss;; I had a chocolate cream bread before and it smelled and tasted similar to gasoline?? There have been multiple instances in which Ive seen the packaging of pastries not sealed correctly. The croquettes are good though, but unfortunately they run out fast. Honestly, most of the time, this location doesnt have anything. They sell out of pastries often, but they never ever have other items because theyre "out of stock." I don't understand how youre out of bread for a month? Its bread. Someone told me they would come within a week period, but I ended up waiting for almost a month. They have always been apologetic and I understand they are probably just trainees, but the employees are not trained. Apparently no one follows Covid guidelines here? Or its just not enforced? Tous Les Jours gets 3 stars overall because their coffee is just average. I asked for a cold brew with caramel and they said they were not able to do that so they gave me cold brew with milk. Behind the bar they had caramel syrup and serve caramel lattes. The drink was water downed and tasted mainly like milk.
