While eating lunch a few blocks away I was craving ice cream and used Yelp to find something nearby. I arrived only a few minutes after they opened and was greeted by a friendly owner. This shop serves all sorts of amazing looking desserts and unique creations. It took a lot of willpower to stick with a scoop of ice cream but I need to return to try more stuff! I got a scoop of the "baklava crunch" ice cream. I expected just some baklava sprinkled over ice cream so I was pleasantly surprised to see it was fully blended into it. Truly delicious and captured all the flavors of baklava. There was no "crunch" though so maybe they should sprinkle a bit on top. I also tried their "Filo Tea" which is hot organic black tea with a choice of fresh mint or sage. I went with sage which the employee let me know is from Jordan. This was a spa in a cup. I have not had booza in America before, and I had basically accepted that it was something I would only get whenever I'm in the Middle East. The moment I heard they served it here, I knew we had to go. Even though we sampled a few flavors, we had to go with ashta. We also ordered the knafeh, which is one of my favorite desserts of all time. Even with the large Middle Eastern food scene in Los Angeles, it can be surprisingly difficult to find knafeh made the way I personally enjoy it. A lot of places serve versions that are extremely cheesy or oily, when knafeh should really be an entire experience. You want the crunch of the pastry, the softness and saltiness of the cheese, and enough syrup to bring everything together without overpowering it. The knafeh here was simple but very well balanced. We covered it in syrup, but it was not overwhelmingly sweet or heavy enough to leave you crashing afterward. It also tasted evenly heated throughout, rather than scorching hot in one section and cool in another, which sometimes happens when knafeh has simply been reheated. We added pistachio booza on top, and it elevated the entire dessert. The cold, creamy pistachio flavor paired beautifully with the warm knafeh, while still tasting familiar and traditional. This is not necessarily the place to visit for flashy, TikTok-style dessert creations or highly modernized flavors. It is more like a small, family-run shop focused on traditional and comforting flavors, and I think that is exactly what makes it such a great addition to Anaheim. I would definitely come back to try more of their desserts and booza flavors. My only disappointment was that we wanted to take home a pint of the ashta booza, but they had already sold out. read more

I love everything here! There was a worker who I think is the wife of the owner. I don't see her here as much anymore but she is lovely and sweet! My friends and I were looking for a sweet treat after dinner and saw that there was this! I've always wanted to try Filo Dessert and didn't know there was one in Anaheim, which was such a pleasant surprise. Right as we walked in, the worker greeted us and was constantly checking up on us to see if we were ready to order. This is a new location which opened up aside from the one in Old Towne Orange. Located in a tiny strip plaza with minimal parking in Little Arabia area of Anaheim, the cafe itself is a bit packed with limited seating so please beware of that! I wanted to originally order the Karak Chai, a favorite of mine but it seemed they were out and the barista told me they were unable to make a batch for an unknown reason possibly due to them running out/timing. It seemed they were still learning the ropes as they had just opened up. Regardless, I decided to order a classic Turkish Coffee. Additionally, I wish there was less miscommunication between the barista and myself as I had told her I wanted to dilute the coffee down with milk and cream if possible as Turkish Coffee can be quite concentrated and strong but she just seemed to charge me for two of them which wasn't what I wanted at all. The Turkish Coffee itself was good with flavor but super concentrated and strong. Definitely not my favorite and needed to be more diluted. It's hard to imagine people drink that as is. That said, the cafe is pretty inside with the aesthetics and their desserts looked delicious. We did rice pudding and Turkish coffee ice cream. Ice cream flavors we got: Turkish coffee, honey lavender, pistachio, and biscoff. All the ice cream is insanely creamy - not a single ice shard. It's also slightly stretchy - the texture is insane. Employee recommends trying the biscoff last because once people try that one, nothing can compare. I really really liked the slight bitter aftertaste of the coffee ice cream and LOVED the pistachio ice cream. Literally nothing ever compares. I believe they have their own pistachio farm! Came upon Filo as we were looking for knafeh after dinner. The owner was really personable and claimed they had the best in town...and he was so right. We love Middle Eastern dessert and this knafeh was perfectly sweet, light and crispy outside, with gooey great texture cheese inside. We got the regular knafeh, a scoop of the mastic booza ice cream, and cup of karak. All delicious. We even sampled a saffron flavor the owner was working on and it was amazing and balanced - hope he sells it in pints because our favorite saffron ice cream is far away and this was on par. Everything we had was all so very good! I loved the mint lemon ice cream, along with the peach flavor. The lemon one was bright and not overly sweet, while the peach one felt so fresh the texture definitely gave it away. The woman helping us was very kind and worked as fast as she could to get us our order. The store is quiet and very nice inside, there's a few tables to sit at and some counters too.
