I'm always good for a new cafe! I was on my way back from an account visit for work and wanted somewhere close to stop in and finish a report. I was a little worried since I drove and parking at Union Market can be tricky but I lucked up with street parking directly in front so this visit is already a great omen! A nice, bright and beautiful clean space with plenty of open seating. The process was easy enough - grab a tray and assorted pastries of your choice or go straight to the counter to order your dose of caffeine. I opted for a jalapeño + cheese croissant & a greek yogurt + cherry danish along with an Iced Guava Matcha Latte (oatmilk) to wash it down. I was so taken back by the latte, the guava definitely sealed the deal and kept the matcha from tasting too much like grass. It was a perfect blend of sweet & healthy. I liked the jalapeño croissant but it would've been better warmed up and the danish was delicious Lost a star for the wifi - I ended up having to use my hotspot (and yes I allowed the permissions on my browser) so that was a bummer but overall I got the peace of mind I was looking for This is a great option for when I'm in the area read more

Had to stop by this new Tous Les Jours location. There's now a few options for great bread and pastries in this area. The space itself is very friendly for people meeting with friends or family, working there, or just grabbing a pastry or some bread. I like that this location is not within the Union Market itself, but to the side, as a standalone. It really cements itself into the area. The location is very clean, staff is very attentive and it seems like they are constantly checking what needs restocking. If you've never been to Tous Les Jours, the concept is easy, you get to pick a tray and serve yourself your own pastries, take it to the cashier and pay. There's a great assortment of pastries from the typical croissants, pain au chocolat, but there is also a stunning assortment of cakes, macarons and other pastries. I personally came in for one pastry in particular, the guava danish, but it's the type of place that will make it nearly impossible to pick just one thing. I ended up getting a garlic & cheese croissant and a chocolate pretzel as well, satisfying a chocolate craving and my taste for something savory as well. For taste, my favorite was the guava danish. Not overly sweet and had the perfect balance of guava jam and danish pastry. Pastry tasted fresh, was crispy, just what I was expecting. The chocolate pretzel was just fine, maybe something that looked better than it tasted but it may be due to the chocolate being a bit more on the dark chocolate side than a typical milk chocolate. It does list as rich, decadent, chocolate, so that may just not be my particular taste. But chocolate, almonds, pastry, how could I resist? The garlic & cheese croissant was good overall, but sort of on the sweeter side to me. I was expecting something a bit more savory. It wasn't bad, it was just different. While there, of course other things caught my eye, like the garlic cream cheese bread, the little honey cheese pancakes, and of course, the egg tarts. If you're in the area, I recommend you giving this place a try, especially if you're with a group of people looking for something different in a treat - something sweet, savory, a coffee or other beverage that they may offer. From the looks of it, this location is already quite successful. I wish them much success in the future. read more

I'm so happy Tous les Jours opened a location near Union Market! It's quickly become one of my favorite spots for both pastries and coffee. Everything I've tried from the bakery has tasted fresh, from the flaky pastries to the soft breads, and it's hard to leave without picking up something extra. Their Matcha Latte is my go to drink. It's smooth, earthy, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. I also recently tried the Aerocano coffee, and it was a pleasant surprise. It's light, refreshing, and a great option when you're in the mood for something different from a traditional iced coffee. The bakery is bright, clean, and inviting, making it an easy stop whether you're grabbing breakfast, an afternoon pick me up, or a treat to take home. I already have a Tous Les Jours closer to home, but I wanted to check out this new location for the grand opening. They were celebrating their 200th store and offering a free cup with purchases over $30, which made the visit even better. It's near Union Market, not inside it, and was a little tricky to find at first. Once you know where it is, it's easy. There's free street parking nearby, and the Union Market lot is also convenient. The bakery is spacious, clean, and welcoming. Everyone was friendly, and the manager, Sammie, was especially helpful. She recommended a few pastries and pointed out some newer items. I picked up a mix of favorites and new things to try, including the cream croissant, chocolate croissant, spinach danish, croquette, iced honey lavender matcha, and strawberry cloud cake. My favorite savory item was the spinach danish, and my favorite sweet item was the strawberry cloud cake. Really nice experience overall, and I'd definitely stop by again when I'm in the area. read more

This bakery is so cute and trendy, a refreshing new cafe in Union market. The space is very clean and bright with so many pastries it's almost hard to choose just one! (I got three). I tried the strawberries and cream croissant which I would come back for alone and the spinach and cheese danish, which was the perfect savory snack. Behind the counter there are a variety of cakes and macron's. I tried the berry cloud cake which was light and delicious! I also absolutely loved the honey lavender iced matcha. Very very tasty. Just checked this spot out on its second day of being open! The space was big, full of light and lots of prettily arranged pastries. Much more seating than I expected; I'd definitely come here to get some work done with a fun snack. Unlike some TLJs I've been to, the pastries look and smell very fresh. Starting off with a total tangent: I am afraid this cafe will be seared in my memory forevermore, given that is where a friend, heretofore a decent and sane person, opened a line of conversation by saying "You know--I kinda see why [fill in the name of the most evil leader Europe had ever seen in the 20th century] did what he did, and what irked him about the [fill in community that's currently besieged in the US]." Is there another planet that I can escape to from the current rendition of humans? But now coming to the cafe: It's run by a Korean family and runs on a French theme. Its niche is low-calorie pastries. This wasn't clear to me until another friend pointed it out--(btw, lucky him that he had already left before the abovementioned topic was broached by the first friend!) I had a cheesecake, which was in fact delicious, and in line with the low-calorie claim, was light and fluffy. The latter friend's pistacio cake was ok but not amazing. Sadly, they didn't have any hot chocolate, so I ordered an herbal tea. Speaking of, the atmosphere wasn't exactly my cup of tea: a bit sterile and plasticky. But the bit I had more of a problem with was that, on a mild spring day the cafe's interior (they didn't have outdoor seating btw) was super-icy, they were blasting the A/C. But I still want to try out the other branches in DC. Despite the one misgiving about the temperature--a nice addition to DC's cafe scene. read more

I've been to a Tous Les Jours in Oregon. It's fun to get a tray and peruse the pastries and pick what you want. We stopped by on a Sunday around 4 pm for a little pick me up. It's a gorgeous spot with plenty of seating. We ordered a vanilla latte and got a few pastries (twist donut and a custard almond pretzel pastry) to go. The twist donut was plain and sugary - just what I wanted. My son-in-law got the custard almond pastry. He gave me a bite and it was amazing - I would definitely get that the next time we come. In terms of the vanilla latte, I asked for nonfat milk, which they didn't have , so I chose oat milk rather than whole milk (you gotta save those calories where you can). I didn't appreciate not being told there was an extra charge for oat milk. You get a beeper that tells you when your drink is ready. It took quite awhile for our drink despite it not being crazy busy/crowded. At least the vanilla latte was extra hot (which I asked for) and tasty when I got it. read more
