Great, simple breakfast food with surprisingly reasonable special menu. I liked the counter style ordering with contemporary diner feel. Honestly should put some couches to get people to stay longer! Rating would be a negative 4. My chai tea was the worst I've ever had. No Rea just hot water. I sent it back and it came back worse and weaker. I refuse to send something back more than once-they are just not getting the quality. Also it was in a paper cup of you want to be high end please serve it in a ceramic mug. I ordered a croissant with jam and butter. The croissant was cold, I turned around for a second and someone whisked my butter and jam with my knife without asking. It would have been a great manic trick if it wasn't just rude and devoid of customer service. Oh and tried five times to get on the WIFI with no luck! Will never go again-pretty but over priced, over hyped and just really bad teas-go to Hometown they are great! read more

I just stopped by for pickup today. They have outdoor dining on this beautiful Saturday. The inside is GORGEOUS!! Natural sunlight flooded the cafe! I ordered a grilled cheese + tomato soup which came with chips that were so tasty and I believe homemade. Then I also ordered a cookie and a salad. I had everything but the salad that's for tomorrow's lunch. INCREDIBLE! The staff was super friendly and the food was insanely tasty! Food was good but service was so bad she didn't say hi and ambiance is so awkward. I wouldn't come back

Not a fan of the usual two guys that work here. Not friendly or personable whatsoever. One of them forgot to charge me for an item today and forgot to give it to me. When I asked for the item they had to go get it for me and asked me to come up and pay and wait in line all over again for their mistake. What they should have done is apologize because they screwed up and not make me go through that hassle. Also, we have had the steak and eggs in the past and the meat was inedible. Blood was visible and could have presented a health issue. I will stick to Hometown as it is similar and of much higher quality. There is a reason it is always filled with people compared to the poor ambiance at Towne & Oak. read more

It's so pretty in here, white and wood, clean and modern. Order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a latte. The sandwich was good, on a biscuit, I didn't really like the bacon, it was a bit hard. The latte was just ok. There is a station to get your napkins and silverware. I pulled a fork out that still had food on it, went back to get another. Grabbed a spoon and it also had food on it. Not so great. If I lived in the area I'd probably go every now and then. read more

In town visiting family for New Years Eve and we stopped in to try Towne and Oak on Green Bay Rd. in Winnetka It's a quaint, trendy cafe featuring a mouth watering menu. We made a Great choice!! The interior is bright and amazingly clean. The staff is very friendly. Due to Covid they currently do not offer dine in but hopefully they will on our next visit. They do offer carry out and outdoor dining. The menu is unique and creative, the food is fresh and delicious. Definite attention to detail. We ordered the BLT Tartine, Towne and Oak Grilled Cheese sandwich, Miso Glazed Salmon bowl, Endive Citrus Salad, Fried Potatoes with sour cream and Homemade Biscuits. Sandwiches are on griddled country bread which is delicious and a side of house chips which are homemade potato chips. The salads are tossed with delicious dressings and compliment the flavors. The ingredients are FRESH and everything is made fresh and absolutely delicious! They also offer a private room in the back to host intimate, private parties when indoor dining returns. I look forward to returning to Towne and Oak this summer. I urge you to give them a try. You will not be disappointed!! read more

This is such a cute breakfast and lunch place! The inside is beautiful and the service is very nice. The food is fresh and tasty. I always get a salad. I had to remove two items when I ordered from the salad due to food intolerances. I asked for extra cheese since I took two ingredients out and was charged for the cheese. I asked the cashier why when I had deleted two ingredients, she said they have to charge. I think that's kind of crummy. I will definitely eat here again, this extra charge was the only negative. read more

This place has more of a moms who don't work vibe to it. My daughter was in town and I had the day off and remembered I wanted to try it. There were many women dining, some who looked retired, some were there with little kids, trying their best to feed them and keep them seated, some who were just happy to be meeting their friends for a bite. It was a very nice atmosphere, though I wouldn't go back with my husband. We split a salad and avocado toast. They forgot to bring out the salad. Honestly, we were full from splitting the avocado toast, we would have told them to stop if they hadn't just walked out with it. We stuffed ourselves. I made an impulse buy at the register of bacon caramels. Don't bother with those. Everyone in my family took one bite out of a single caramel only to say, "ew!" Oh well, I will still go back on a day off and have the avocado toast again, mmm. read more

I've been meaning to check this place out for some time. We get very excited when new restaurants open up in Winnetka. My delay honestly was what seemed to be a distinct difference in the price point from what I was expecting. I went in today for the first time and was very impressed. The vibe is relaxing and comfortable. There were a lot of people both inside and out with a lot of good sitting options. I almost felt like I was in Martha's Vineyard. I only tried one of the salads with chicken but it was excellent. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the other ingredients were fresh. The baked goods looked amazing and I look forward to trying a few other things as well. All in all I was very happy and will be back. read more

I like this place very much! The space is beautiful and the food is good. It has a very fresh feeling. Everyone has been very helpful. My only issue is that all food is served in disposable containers, even if you inform them that you are eating there. I think in this time of acute climate crisis it does not make sense to add to the garbage problem and increase the use of single use plastic.
