The employees at this location are consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. They regularly appear in extremely casual clothing that does not resemble any identifiable work uniform, and their overall presentation and attitude make an already frustrating experience even worse. Today, Public Storage automatically withdrew $212 from my account even though I have NEVER enrolled in or authorized AutoPay. This charge took every dollar I had available and even used $98.39 of my overdraft coverage. WHEN and HOW was it activated and where is the authorization showing that I agreed to it? I updated the Public Storage app yesterday, and this unauthorized automatic payment happened the following morning. I am demanding that Public Storage investigate the account history and provide the exact date, time, device, and method used to activate AutoPay. Trying to reach someone capable of investigating has been nearly impossible. The app's "Contact Us" page only provides the number for this same location. The supposed corporate customer-service number identifies my unit and routes me right back to the property. Choosing "all other questions" leads to another useless menu, while choosing the property manager sends me to voicemail. Their website advertises live-agent chat, but the first time I selected "Transfer to Agent," it claimed they were experiencing high chat volumes and refused to connect me. I tried again. At 11:49 AM, the system stated, "The agent will be with you shortly," and confirmed that my transfer had been requested. I waited for someone to enter the chat. Instead, at 11:54 AM after making me sit there for five minutes the system ended the conversation without a single agent ever joining and told me to close the window and start over. I have screenshots documenting the entire timeline. So Public Storage can access my stored card and automatically take $212 without my authorization, but I cannot access a corporate billing department, technical-support department, or live customer-service representative to investigate it. Their phone system traps customers in a loop, their store does not answer, and their advertised live chat makes customers wait before disconnecting them. This is unacceptable. The issue is not whether rent was due the issue is that AutoPay was activated and a payment was processed without my authorization. Public Storage then made it virtually impossible to reach anyone who could stop the pending charge or explain how this happened. I want the AutoPay activation thoroughly investigated, including the complete account-change history, and I want the findings provided to me in writing. Customers should think very carefully before saving a payment card in this app because if something goes wrong, Public Storage has designed its customer-service system to prevent you from reaching anyone with the authority to help.
