Staying in Londonderry, Vt. for a ski trip and we wanted to grab some pizza for dinner; Sam's Wood…read moreFired Pizza in Manchester popped up and we were very impressed with what we got. Sam's is in a small plaza set back from the street. Inside you find a nice casual pizza place, as you come in you have the pizza kitchen with the large wood fired pizza oven. You can order slices or whole pies, they also have salads, wings and a couple of sandwiches. We ordered a large mushroom pizza and grabbed a table by the small bar area. The bar has beer and wine, they offer a very nice selection of local brews. After settling in the pizza showed up quickly. Sam's pizzas are thin crust, nicely cheesy and have a good basic tomato sauce. The pizza are very good with a nice balance between the yeasty crust, the pungent cheese and the slightly sweet sauce. The mushrooms were a nice touch to add some extra umami to the pie. The pizza was well cooked, although I would usually like it a bit more well done. On the table is garlic powder, hot pepper, oregano, grated cheese and even some hot honey, so you can modify your pizza to your taste. The large pie made a nice dinner split between the two of us, we each got 4 good sized slices. Sam's is a great casual pizza joint, the atmosphere is relaxed, service is quick and we even had some very good live music to compliment our meal. If you are looking to get some good pizza and some beers you can't go wrong by heading to Sam's Wood Fire Pizza.

The cheese blend on the extra‑cheese pizza was especially tasty, and a custom veggie pie (broccoli, greens pepper, mushrooms) had probably the most thin, uniform distribution of toppings we've ever seen. Literally every bite had small cut, perfectly cooked vegetables in it. The crust might have been our favorite part -- that ideal mix of soft and thin, with great texture and flavor. We know pizza reviews can sometimes get a rough rap, especially when people compare everything to NYC or New Haven styles. We're very familiar with those and love them. This isn't that -- and it doesn't need to be. This is simply wonderful pizza, the kind you look forward to having again. We really enjoyed the whole experience and will absolutely return on future visits to Manchester Center.

But it's clear the family is exhausted and no longer committed to being the dining establishment it once was! At this rate a PapaJohns franchise might be the best out!

I cannot say enough how glad I am to have such a casual deliciously healthy eatery thats local. I never have to second guess whether the food will be good or good for me. I just know that they are using nothing but the best ingredients either from their farm or locally sourced. You cannot go wrong with whatever you choose here. Whether it be their soups, salads, all day breakfast items, brunch lunch dinner or to go. Their pagnotelle egg sandwich in my opinion always hits the spot. Egg, ham, cheese with roasted veg on a house made pagnotelle roll what can be better? Also available vegetarian if you desire. Stop in or grab something to go, you're sure to agree!

I love when local eateries are well-loved because they deserve it. 9 Miles East Farm certainly does! A lot of the folks who came in for dinner wanted to sit on the terrace to bask in the last couple of hours of sun, but being from Florida I get overdosed with that and sat inside. I'm glad I did, the playlist reminded me of a Sunday picnic without being either. However, the atmosphere felt like that, even indoors. The owner was super personable, and the server was just the right amount of attentive. I ordered the chicken piri piri, and it presented beautifully. I felt comforted by the food. The tender grilled chicken parted from the bone with a twist of my fork and the mashed sweet potato was a great partner to the savory, citrusy, and slightly spicy piri piri. Im not even a chicken thigh person, but this dish changed me. I actually felt tended to and taken care of by the food! Does that even make sense??? It did when I was eating because that's how I felt. And the crazy thing is, I've been here once before. I loved what I ate, but it didn't feel like this. It's been a rough couple of months, but after this meal and listening to the carefree, but intentional music, it lit up my mood and my spirit. This will definitely be one of my go-to's when I visit Saratoga Springs, and I highly recommend 9 Miles East Farm to anyone. I think that a lot of people feel like they're visiting a friend's place when they come here. I definitely did.

I knew I was in trouble when I saw that the warm mess was served in the kind of plastic to-go container one would be given at a deli counter for coleslaw etc. Very unappetizing-looking. The flavor was good, but the pieces of duck did not work. They seemed like rather tasteless, old leftovers, and the noodles were not Thai noodles, i.e. a rice or cellophane noodle...just a broad noodle that one would have for in fettuccine. The carrots were the best tasting item but over cooked. The entire dish felt like a way to use up leftovers. Food must have eye appeal as well as tasting good. 'My husband fared better with a fried fish sandwich for $10.00 - made with sustainable Pollock. It smelled fishy to me, but he enjoyed it. While he would eat there again (very pleasant to carry the food to the nearby picnic tables, and enjoy a picnic on a nice day by the excellent Dorset Farmers market), I do not think I would venture another try.I wish I had ordered from Pan American instead. Who knows, maybe other dishes are far better.

The wings (bone-in & boneless) are worth ordering, although the bone-in were much better. They charged us extra for blue cheese dressing (?), and then they forgot to include it in the order, so that definitely took away from the wing experience (CHECK YOUR BAG). The thin crust pizza had a delicious light, flaky dough and the banana pepper/pepperoni toppings were plentiful, however the pizza was very light on sauce, so it ate dry. Salads were thrown together without love. Pass. Perfect for the kids after skiing. Prices were lower than similar restaurants in the area. The pizza also tasted delicious the next day cold on our way back to NY! Add one star.
