I love this place for my 2007 Prius. Danny is honest, half the cost of the dealership (he looked at dealership quotes and he seriously is 50% cheaper). I was really hoping to find an alternative to the dealer for regular scheduled maintenance, but unfortunately Toy Doctor isn't it. I will give them a couple stars for Danny being a great and personable guy. I like him, and he really communicated with me in a friendly way. I recognize that some of this is the sting of an unexpected $650 bill -- but for a 2 year old tundra with 19K miles to need a full differential / transfer case service, brake fluid flush, and power steering change felt a little premature (And I waited on the power steering fluid!). Double checking my Toyota scheduled maintenance guide it states 30K / 36 months for the differential service only for special operating conditions of primarily driving on dirt/dusty roads. For a weekender truck that mostly drives paved roads this felt pre-mature in retrospect. It felt like the add-on-service sales line you get at JiffyLube, and that felt gross. I really wanted to support a local shop and bring you guys my truck for regular scheduled maintenance but I left feeling like a fool after re-reviewing my maintenance schedule. Thanks for doing the work in a timely manner but it probably wasn't totally necessary yet, and to get that kind of a bill around the holidays is a total bummer. Back to the dealership - Looking at the 20K / 24 months it would have just been an oil change. read more

When they say "free estimates" they aren't kidding. They spent over a week trying to track down a noise from my 4Runner's drive train. They narrowed it to the differential but did not try to talk me into a repair at $3500. No charge! When it's time I'll bring it back to them to fix. I trust them! read more

These people should be ashamed to call themselves mechanics! I took my Lexus in there, there's supposed to be Toyota experts, and they tell me it has a timing chain leak, and that the aftermarket rims could somehow affect the operation of the four-wheel-drive system. Even though I'm not a stupid person and I realize there is no way the aftermarket rims could affect the four-wheel-drive system I take the vehicle to Lexus. And they confirm that I am right. The aftermarket rims will in no way affect the four-wheel-drive system. Nor the way it operates! Also there is a very small amount of moisture around the timing chain gasket! Definitely not a leak and absolutely nothing to be concerned about! Thank God for the real mechanics at the Lexus dealership!! They should be ashamed to have Toyota in their name! I had a new timing belt and water pump installed at the Toy Doctor and was pleased with the quality of their work. We left the car with them while we went on vacation, so they had adequate time to perform the repairs. The price for the repairs were in line with other quotes. Will use them again when I need repairs performed on my Mazda's. read more

I used to like this place. They were great the first time. However, I am in the middle of dealing with them and I do not recommend ANYBODY ever go here! I took my car here on October 6th. I need a new engine. My radiator is cracked. And I need a new battery. They said it would take 2 weeks. They also promised to call and check in every few days. They have not done that. We have had to do all the checking in. It is now October 26th and they STILL have my car. And they keep extending the date that it will be completed by. If you can't do something in a certain amount of time....TELL me. I won't mind. But don't get my hopes me, have me make plans, and then the day of, tell me that it will not be finished for at least 4 more days. I know they are working with several companies....but still. They are not professional by any means. They will not be getting the full amount. This is probably the worse customer service I have ever had. I would blame it on the fact that I am a female, but my moms husband is a Lawyer so he has been doing the communicating and it is just as convoluted and unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. I might have my car by next week. If I didn't have my mom's car to use I would be stranded. read more

This place is awesome! I was quoted for repairs on my car at Les Schwab that totaled over $1700. I did some shopping around and the lowest I was quoted was $950. I got a lot of recommendations for toy doctor so I went to check them out. They charged if a $40 fee for diagnostics to see if I needed repaired what was told to me. It turns out that a lot of what needed repairing was actually just parts to those larger parts. For example, I was told I needed a brand new swaybar which totaled over $350 when in fact I just needed a sway bar link and the link cost $40 to fix. Anyway, at the end I was quoted around $535 for repairs for everything. I was thrilled to hear this! I made an appointment and got my car in. They were able to get me in right away and did a fantastic job! My car runs better than ever and they back up their work. I would absolutely recommend toy doctor to anyone! Definitely have them check your car out if you are being quoted high amounts for repairs. They won't fix anything that doesn't actually NEED to be repaired! read more

I have taken my Toyota Truck here for years. They always end up having the best prices for the parts and services I get quoted on, and I have never paid more than what they have quoted me for. I have tried other mechanics in the area but the service has never compared. I recently needed a new CV Joint for my truck and the Toy Doctor's cost was about $100 less than all the other mechanics I got quotes from. The Toy Doctor has continued to do a great job and I wouldn't want to take my Toyota Truck anywhere else. read more

Wow, the guy we bought our 4Runner from swore by these mechanics, but it turned out that when checked out by an independent shop, some of what they claimed to have fixed/serviced was not good (cam plugs were not properly sealed). They agreed to 're-fix' the repairs, which took them almost a month. Then, when we went to test out the trailer harness install that we paid them for, it had not been properly tested, and the lights did not properly work. Then, when they agreed to fix it, they charged us over $200 dollars for what every other shop quoted less than $120, for replacement of a part which should have been replaced during the initial install. A part which cannot be found for more than $60 dollars was marked up to $160! Then, when I complained, the owner/mechanic explained to me his method of 'testing' the wiring, which demonstrated his total lack of understanding of the part which he charged us $260 to replace. This, after putting us off for another full week after they said they were available to work on it. The repairs had not been started until the day that they knew that we needed the vehicle back, even though we called multiple times without response. We will not be returning. I suggest you do not either, and recheck any work that you may have already paid them to do. We were patient both times, as it was most important to have the work done properly, and, we trust our friend's opinion. We really tried giving this shop a chance. read more

I felt horribly scammed by the service we had done. My son's Camry broke down on the side of the highway and we had it towed to the Toy Dr. as they were the closes Toyota repair facility. Initially they told me the engine had to be replaced. Options were used or reconditioned. I paid fully list price for a used engine, then they said the motor for the A/C was out and it would be another $600 (it worked when we brought it in, but saw how it could have been related). Then when the car was finally ready my son drove it off and day #1 the radiator over heated. He called Toy Dr. immediately who checked it and said it would be ok. Then every day it would overheat and he'd call the Toy Dr. who said to fill the antifreeze which he did. Bottom line he brought it back in and they said the radiator needs to be replaced for $400. They know exactly what they're doing to make more money off of unsuspecting clients. STAY AWAY or you'll be in the same scenario. I had him take it to another shop that can be trusted. read more

Although I wrote a raving review about Toy Doctor 8 months ago, that Pathfinder succumbed two months later to a head gasket & coolant leak. Understanding they could not have foreseen this in the earlier tune-up, where they bit us was their price increase of about $400 when we returned 2 months later to proceed with the repair. At that point, we decided to part with the vehicle since it just wasn't worth paying $2100 for an '02 Pathfinder with a KBB value of $4K. We decided to give Toy Doctor another shot later that month when our second vehicle required a tune-up and needed some starting problems looked into. After $600 & two weeks later, we called Toy Doctor complaining of the tachometer needle going nuts and was told that was normal especially with new distributors. Two months later, our '94 Accord finally bit the dust on Scholls & Hall. We're done with this place. This is what I get. Never again will I ask my mother-in-law for an auto-shop recommendation. read more
