Professional, efficient, and no up-sales. After years of going to the dealership mechanics for Toyota, and spending HOURS for one or two services (2-4 hours for an oil change and tire rotation- yes seriously!), and the dealership in Chandler breaking my wheel locks and blaming me, I finally decided Toyota specialty mechanics / auto places were where I needed to be. The appointments are well planned out, so a person isn't waiting four hours for an oil change. The entire office and mechanics take lunch 12-1pm, which is just FYI, so there are no appointments then. The people there actually remember me; whereas, at the dealership, I'd go multiple times per year and they had no clue who I was (even with the same "service advisor"). The service is efficient and priced well. I have always been told an honest time, and the time is always within the time they told me. The best thing? No upselling or sales for things one does not need. At the dealerships, I overheard and heard myself so many times, the service advisors recommending things that were not necessary at that time. Eventually yes, but they were just forcing extra services on people. ToyoMotors will indicate what one needs. FYI - there are special conditions for living in such a hot area, which may change service requirements at different mileages. So, if you look in your manual, some of the mileage recommendations are higher than what they will recommend. Per Nick, this is because we live in such a hot climate, there are special conditions. Makes sense! The waiting room is simple but has free wifi, a fridge with beverages and a coffee maker. It can get a bit chilly during winter, so bring a light jacket. read more

I took my 2005 Acura TL w/ 137K miles on it for an oil change a few weeks ago and asked them to give it a once over to see if any issues. Being that's its old and such and haven't had major service since 90k I figured there'd be problems. Nope! Def happy about that! They could have easily come up with stuff to fix I think but they said everything checked out! Love the honesty and fast, friendly service! Then I took my Craigslist acquired 2004 Lexus GX 470 for a new starter and couldn't be more happy with the service I got. Needed a few things fixed but overall happy with the quickness and service! First time using Toyo. Live in the area over 12 years and didn't even know it was there. They are very friendly and helpful and appear to be very straightforward. I only had some basic service done on my car but I will definitely try them out when I need more extensive work done. It's refreshing to me anyway that they close down 12-1 pm for lunch. That tells me that they value their employees and want them to get a break for lunch. Also no weekend hours which is a little inconvenient for the customers but again it benefits the employees to have the time off. Kudos for that policy. I'll be back for sure. read more

Okay went here expecting major repairs and they told me only needed a new battery which they advised should be under warranty with Costco. No new starter or alternator and only a diagnostic fee which also checked out the rest of the engine and I was good to go to Costco for my free replacement batteries. They didn't try to give me a ridiculous upscale only telling me what i knew which was about time to replace brakes. Good shop, good people. Only suggestion would be to get a little faster on the callbacks. I dropped off at closing and called them at noon the next day. Expected a status call before lunch. read more

The best shop for your Prius ! I have been to this shop several times for my gen 2 Prius. I have found them to be honest and fair. Nick at the front desk is friendly as well. This last Friday I was driving on the 101 and the red triangle of death came on along with some other dash lights. I called and drove right over to Toyo Motors. They immediately checked the car, explained it was the hybrid pump motor, and since they had replaced it for me within the past year, they immediately got it back into their shop, and replaced the faulty OEM pump. All this occurred on a Friday afternoon so I fully expected to need a lift home and leave it until next week. These guys are amazing!! Got a quote on yelp for several things I needed done to my Prius including fixing the dash that had went completely out. Called, made an appt was told a slightly higher number but I didn't mind because it was still very reasonable. I was told they would have the car for two days. Dropped my car off in the morning & the next day I got to pick it up after work a days ahead of schedule. When I paid the amount was much cheaper than my quote on the phone. I took our 2009 Camry Hybrid into a place I trust, only to realize I needed a place that specialized in hybrid cars. While the diagnosis at the other place ended up correct, the way they went about it led me to wonder if it was the right place to go. I found ToyoMotors and read reviews and then realized this is where I should have gone in the first place. Spoke with Neil, the owner, and described my problem and what had been done so far. Neil, to his credit, laid out their process to evaluate and did not disparage the other shop, but did indicate there was a better and easier method to diagnose. The owner, Neil, called after I posted this review and left a message. He admitted Jesus didn't have the mechanical knowledge I was asking for (e.g. details on tests done) and was replying emotionally ("out of frustration"). But he also said they didn't put mechanics on the phone, instead Jesus would relay questions and answers back and forth (that offer was never made to me). However, in my experience, with the middle person not understanding the technology, the questions asked and the answers given back typically get mangled. Neil said there was no situation he knew of where the check engine light should be reset to see if it comes on again. Obviously he doesn't understand the issues surrounding a catalytic converter check engine light code - at least for this model / year car (but that is true for other cars also). He was asking me what tests they should have run to determine what the issue was (I referred to them in my original review) and he would not answer me when I asked him that same question. He asked me to provide him with write-ups from experts on what was needed when a catalytic converter code was pulled on our car model & year - the possible things causing the code and the testing that needed to be done to determine what component was causing the problems. Battery testing - he did say they did a cold crank battery test (batteries should be tested cold). He started asking me about how to test a battery, I had told him we knew batteries well as we have an RV that we boondock with (no electricity) for a couple weeks at a time and need our batteries to work. He must have assumed we had a trailer towed by a truck, using the truck regularly while boondocking, as he replied that RV batteries are different than vehicle batteries. While coach ones are deep cycle, the engine battery in our motorhome is the same type as vehicle batteries and people who do not keep them in good condition and charged well will find problems when they startup their motorhome to go back home - big problems if you are alone in the middle of nowhere without the ability to charge the battery. Neil didn't given info on any tests done other than the battery test (despite being asked) nor any results of any tests. He said they didn't charge us for the catalytic converter test, to which I replied they charged us $100 but my husband refused to pay $100 to pull a check engine light code that many places including auto supply stores will pull for free, so they took that charge off. He said that I didn't know what tests they ran, but he would not say what tests they ran when I asked. Neil asked if the wipers were good now, I said I didn't know as that was my husbands car (DH confirmed just now they are fine, no streaks, etc.). He said if there was ANY problems now he was sure there were problems when it was at his shop 2 months earlier (not true, and certainly not falling apart like we were told). Neil did say he was interested in me bringing the car back to be retested but that should have been offered in my first call with Jesus when I questioned what was done. We already had this done at another place and are not willing to spend another several hours including commute time at ToyoMotors to do it again. Repeatedly during the 25 minute conversation I told Neil I didn't want to argue with him. After the 3rd time of saying I didn't want to argue with him, I said goodbye and hung up. Not worth the trouble. The entire situation was handled poorly IMO and in that first phone call with Jesus I should have been put on the phone with a mechanic that told me details of the tests done and the results of that test. And that information should have been clearly documented in my file so that when I asked it could have been read (and kept for future reference). read more

I have a theory about waiting areas. The nicer they are, the more you're going to pay. Judging by that at Toyo Motors, I was prepared to grab my ankles when the bill came, and I was pretty much spot on. For a while, I took my ride to various shops around town to get the real-deal on what needed to be done to it, maintenance-wise. I must say, ToyoMotors did a very thorough, and accurate assessment, without a lot of extra BS. They laid out exactly what needed to be done, and in what order. If I had more money, I would have totally gone with them. Unfortunately, I did not. Since that time, I've had my rig worked on a few times, and the work done was pretty much exactly what they suggested needed doing. ToyoMotors isn't ridiculously expensive, just more than I can swing, because I'm perpetually poor. I figure you're paying for quality though. So if you've got the dough, and you've got a Toyota you love, check 'em out! read more

During the height of the economic meltdown, we knew we had to find someone who would treat us fairly and make sure our two vehicles were dependable and would last. 120k miles later on one vehicle and 80k miles on our other, we know we made the right decision. I took my SUV to Toyo Motors to get a second opinion for a quote provided by the Nissan dealership in North Scottsdale. At 118K miles it was due for some maintenance. During the repair my radiator was damaged, without question they replaced the radiator for free, and took care of some related issues that came up during the course of the repair. Jesus was Neil were in communication with me throughout, and provided detailed options on what need to be performed. My vehicle drives and performs better than ever. They have won a new customer. Waiting room was pleasant and useful for working in for a few hours, has charging stations and coffee/water/soda setup. I brought my wife's Lexus here because I thought that I had fixed her ac system by installing a new compressor, shortly after I installed it, her air quit working again. I threw another compressor (same brand Delphi) and condenser and again shortly after it failed again. I had my repair shop that works on my shop trucks take a look at it and they weren't sure what the problem could be, so I decided to take it to Toyomotors and have them take a look at it. For a diagnostics fee, Jesus and his team came to the conclusion that the ac compressor was bad from the factory and told me to replace it with a Denso instead. Turned out they were spot on, new Denso unit is working flawlessly now for several hot months. Highly recommend Toyomotors for any Toyota or Lexus repairs and will definitely be taking my wife's car for any further repairs. Great experience! read more

I own a classic 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It was recently completely restored. The problems began when it started leaking oil from every place possible. I literally spent a small fortune trying to get it repaired to no avail. Everyone who worked on it said it was fixed. It wasn't! I had taken my regular car to Toyo motors for small repairs in the past but never thought they could do the work required on a classic car. I figured, what the heck, I'll ask them if they would look at it. I met with Brian and he said to bring it in and they would have a look. After looking it over, they said they could repair it but it would involve pulling the engine out. I asked if they would gaurantee the work and they said they would. I admit, I was skeptical, but I wanted my car to stop leaving a trail of oil all over Phoenix. They called and said it was fixed. I was so happy to have my car back. I drove it home. The next morning I wanted to take my baby out for a drive. As I backed out I noticed a small pool of oil under the car. Not only was it still leaking, it was worse. I called Brian at Toyomotors and explained the situation. He said they would stand behind their work and to bring it back. Now the 1981 Pontiac Firebird has the strangest rear main seal in the history of automobiles. It was made of rope and designed by a moron. They have been leaking since forever. Brian and his Toyomotors team have the expertise to fix anything and I am convinced of that now. I brought the car back and again they had to pull the engine, only this time they remachined the seal area in order to put in the proper seal. Guess what? It worked. No runs, no drips, no errors. Not a drop of oil leaking from anywhere. Oh yeah, they never charged me a penny more. These guys are great and P would recommend them to anyone. They are honest and knowledgeable auto mechanics who stand behind their work. For any type of auto repair from oil changes to transmissions and everything in between. Toymotors is your one stop shop. We've been going to Toyo since we first moved to the valley at the height of the recession. We were ready to purchase a new vehicle and were unable due to the recession. We needed to find a mechanic who could ensure we would see many more miles on both of our used vehicles. I am very impressed with ToyoMotors, and would not hesitate to recommend them to fellow hybrid owners. I recently had the hybrid battery in one of my Toyota Prius' give out. I totally should have been prepared for this given the car is a 2007 with over 200k miles on it. But of course, it happens when you least expect it, and in my case, without warning because I didn't pay attention to the early indicator signs! After having a plethora of dashboard lights go off, I took it in to the dealership to get it checked out. I was told I needed a new hybrid battery, and it would be $3,400.00. Talk about a punch to the gut. I started researching to find a cheaper alternative, or a shop that could replace it at a better price. This is how I learned about hybrid battery reconditioning. The dealerships don't offer this service (and won't even tell you about it), and while there are a couple other shops around town that do this, ToyoMotors was the only place that would tell me how much it would cost to evaluate whether my hybrid battery was a candidate for reconditioning, and what I should budget for worst case scenario. They were upfront about how long the work would take, went in depth about the reconditioning process, and explained the warranty I would receive. The Hybrid Shop would not divulge any information on pricing, or about the reconditioning process until they checked out my battery. I just had a bad feeling, and my gut told me to trust ToyoMotors. As promised, I had my car back in three days, running like it was new. The service came with a 1-year warranty, but I paid a little extra (totally worth it) to extend that to 2-years. I also had them put in new spark plugs, and in total, my bill was 52% less than what the dealership was going to charge me for just a new battery with a fraction of the warranty!!! To top it off, their customer service was amazing. When I had brought in my car, it was super dirty with bird doo doo everywhere because it had been sitting uncovered for a week since it was not driveable. When I came to pick it up, it was sparkling clean, and they surprised me by treating my headlight lenses so that they looked new and clear when they were cloudy and yellow from the sun damage. I am beyond happy with the service I received and will be bringing both our Toyota Prius' to them for future service needs. If you find yourself in need of hybrid battery reconditioning, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. Save yourself the time, effort and stress of calling around. read more
