I lived in Pasadena all my life and I have been driving Toyota for 20+ years. I had several leases, bought few, but every time I go to Toyota in Pasadena on Foothill, I get disappointed again and end up leasing from another Toyota dealership because the big difference in price that they offer. When Pasadena says $500 per month, I know I can get the same car from another dealership for $300. Sadly I live in Pasadena but I have to drive to a different city to close a deal on a new lease. We're in the market for something I never thought I'd be in the market for in a bajillion years...a more "family friendly vehicle". :-O So, we are taking our time, saying a rather long good-bye to our beloved road-tripping-just-for-two Mini Cooper as we look into the car maker with one of the best names in reliability and longevity (without spending an arm and a leg)! The salesperson (first time I've ever actually dealt with a women car sales person) was pretty "neutral" in terms of sales tactics. I had been bracing myself for an argument and had a couple of zingers stored in my back pocket just in case they tried to pull any shenanigans or rope us into one of those typical, obnoxious car buying games. But no, she didn't go there and I didn't have to use any sarcasm during our visit. She showed us as many vehicles as we were interested in, testing driving one, and not once looked like she was getting impatient or about to get all aggressive. I appreciate that. Great Customer Service, but buyer beware! (Sales Department) I bought a new 2018 Tundra a couple years ago after trading in my Tacoma for something bigger. Literally moments after buying the truck I stoped by best buy to grab a phone holder for the Tundra and when I hop back into the truck I realized they forgot to disarm the dealership anti theft device and was unable to start the truck. Waited an hour a mile down the road before they came out and disarmed it. (Service Department) The real reason I'm writing this post today. Went in to have two recall services completed on the Tundra and asked if they can check out my brakes. After a few hours of waiting at home I get a call saying that the car is done and the front pads and rotors need to be replaced and it if I didn't want to change them now it would be $75 Dollars for the inspection!. BUT! If i did change them now they would waive the inspection fee and charge me $515 for new front brake pads and rotors.!!!!!!! Now Ive owned a few Toyotas over the years and one thing they always pride themselves on is their "Multipoint Inspection" at every service, which usually includes inspecting wear and tear on tires and brakes. When I asked them about why Im being charged $75 for something they do for free they said "it was a wheel off inspection". When I asked what they found in their inspection they said "The front pads and rotors show heavy signs of use". After I refused to have them replaced by them I asked my service rep to let me speak to his manager. When I spoke to the service department manager I asked again why am I being charged $75 for an inspection that is usually free. He argued that there was no regular service done on the truck to warrant a free inspection. I then tried to clarify what is the difference between their "Multipoint Inspection" to the "Inspection Fee" and the manager said that the "multipoint inspection is just visual inspection of the tire and brakes with the wheel on, when they have to remove the tire it cost $75 dollars". Since they said that the "Multi Point Inspection was just a visual inspection", I asked why would you remove the wheel if you can see the brake pads and rotors through the rim? Then, when I countered his "no regular maintenance was done on the truck" argument with the two Federally Mandated Recalls that were required for the truck, is when he asked me to come in and speak to him personally. Initially at first I refused because of the bad reputation service departments have with overcharging people for routine maintenance, but I had to get the truck anyway and so I agreed But before I even agreed to speak to him, I mentioned that I'd be writing a review on this situation. I showed up a few minutes later expecting nothing to happen but then the Manager proposed a deal, as soon as I walked in. His deal was that he would allow me to take the truck free of charge, if instead of a negative review i posted a positive one. I agreed but only to get my truck. I got the truck back with out a charge and now Im writing this to warn everyone. DO NOT GO TO TOYOTA PASADENA FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!! People have a right to walk into a dealership and be shown the same respect they were shown when they bought the car, I dont expect to go to a dealership and have to fight for trivial things such as a visual inspection. For me I will be canceling my extended warranty and I will be finding a local mechanic I can trust and build a relationship with to work on my truck. I wont stop buying Toyotas just yet but I will never bring my cars to be serviced at Pasadena Toyota ever again and will definitely never purchase any vehicle from them. Id rather go to Longo Toyota or Glendora Toyota and try them out before using Toyota Pasadena ever again. Shady! Be careful buying a "certified" car from this dealer!!! I purchased my car last year with them,but it was totally misleading advertising, the car was a 2016! Not a 2017 which is what the sticker said. When I got home I read the manual and saw it said 2016 so I called My salesman YOUNG right away. I asked YOUNG about it and he apologized and offered a 3 years free oil change, I took my car to the first oil change and they informed me I only have 3 free ones not 3 years, I contacted them, explained this situation to 4 different people until I ended up leaving a voicemail at someone's office. She passed me to her manager who never returned my call. Terrible customer service, it's very disappointing. Another piece of advice if you ended up buying from this dealer, drive your car on the freeway with the music off and ac on low so you can hear any air filtration thru the windows, yes! That was another problem, a month after I bought my car it flooded inside With the first rain. The problem was the front windshield was replaced before I bought it and they didn't do a good job so I has to bring it in to replace it. Another thing to be careful with them is the breaks! I took the car for the windshield to be fixed and they also informed me the breaks need to be replaced right after I bought it for $500+ of course I refused to pay them and they ended up understanding, but now I am having the same problem with the windshield again and have to deal with it all over again. Came here looking for an FRS. I just wanted a stock one without the other extra stuff dealers put on. They do that because Scion has a Pure Price thing so you can't really haggle or negotiate the price to be lower. So dealers add unnecessary stuff to increase their take on the car. I saw an FRS and I asked if they had any stock ones. They said no, but they can work with me financially. Mind you, I'm still at the lot just looking around. But they already want to shove me inside to talk numbers. I was also with my mom and they knew they couldn't get me to say "yes" to talk numbers, so they were quite rude when they approached my mom. I was already in my own car ready to leave because I didn't want to deal with them, but they insisted that my mom come in and they can work with us. Heard that plenty of times. No, thanks. I called to make an appointment for a free battery inspection which is listed on the Toyota website. They didn't recognize it on phone at first but I insisted, they agreed for an appointment at 11. I came at 11:20 and they again questioned the complimentary "check". I showed the service coordinator a picture I took of the website and then he assented. They told me it would be done by 2:30 PM. They finished the battery check by 12:14 and indicated I would need a new battery. Their price $422. The nearby car repair chain told me they'd install a new battery for price of 120-240, basically half the price or less. I've decided to take my car elsewhere, which I told them around 12:30 and now they're holding my car hostage. "It has to be put together." For a battery inspection. Ok. We'll see how long this takes, but it shouldn't be long for a procedure that didn't involve taking car apart. read more

I recently came from picking up my car. This is my fourth time getting my car serviced there. As you know, they are fairly new to the new location they moved to. Let's start with my first visit where the service consultant that helped me then no longer worked there now. I was satisfied so I went back. on to next visit. Service consultant Tony Chavez helped me out. I was getting a minor service. I decided to wait for my car. It was ready at 12 which is the time it was promised. I was carrying a pager. So I waited 2 extra hours ended up asking why haven't I been paged. Tony Chavez was not at all sympathetic to his wrong doing. I complaint, but Briana (the service person to go to with complaint) was not sorry either for their poor service. So they go no stars for that service visit. I didn't even want to go back here again. But after taking to an Acura Service Consultant in Alhambra, i decided to give them another chance. Third visit. Oil Change. Pretty Pleased. FOUR AND FINAL VISIT. I called and spoke with Adriene and wanted info about pricing. Later I decided to get the previous previous recommendations done. I spoke with Joe Garcia and though he was the service consultant helping me out. When I checked out, it was Adriene. I didn't even speak to her when I dropped my car off. It was generous of Joe to give her the service. All would have been fine but hen I picked up my car, it wasn't even washed. I went to Joe, but he said, I can't do anything about it, it's out of my hands. He was joking, but that was a BAD joke (obvious from my previous experience) which I voiced. I didn't like how I had to go back and wait to get the wash done, considering it should have already been taken care of. In sum, when I get my major service done, I will be going to Wonderies Toyota. One last thing, I don't like how they changed my license plate to advertise Toyota of Pasadena. Lastly, I would have given them 1 star, but I gave them 2 (maybe even 3) because Joe Garcia actually took the time to say he was sorry about what happened and to see him next time. This review is for the service department. Two stars because they did the first maintenance on my new RAV-4 without any problems. But, the demeanor of the employees was unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable. While I was there standing in the office, employees were arguing with each other and one of them seemed like he'd just had enough and started yelling at the service advisor to stop blaming everything on him. Then he stormed off. The argument seemed to center around the shuttle service, which I didn't even try to use after they warned me it would be a very long wait. I was going to bring my car in again today for another service visit anyway, but when I called to ask a quick question of a service advisor, they routed me into voice mail and no one ever called me back. So I am taking my car elsewhere. I may be back if I'm stuck in the Pasadena area when service is needed, but more likely I'll look for a dealer where there isn't a hostile work environment showing through to customers. read more

I went to a couple Toyota dealerships nearby my house in garden grove. I wasted my time. Many dealerships were contacting me with extra dealer installed options on their RAV4s. It was definitely worth the drive to go to Pasadena. I submitted an online inquiry and Monica called me within an hour. She made an appointment to call me the following morning. I got there at 3pm and left around 6pm with the New Lunar Rock Rav4 premium trim with the price we were looking for. It was painless. Monica was really helpful and not sales pitchy. My recent oil change was everything else horrible but pleasant, maybe because I am not on a lease anymore so they kind of don't care. I came in for an early morning oil change and the guy who helped me when checking to see if I had an appt claim that I didn't. Even tho I had voice mail and email confirmation, which I clicked into to confirm, but it didn't matter to him. He said I had to speak to someone else, so it's fine, I don't mind. So I waited about 5ish mins while everyone else who showed up after me and went before me. So much for making an appt. Finally when someone came to me, we will call him "A" he was very rude and told me I didn't have an appt and asked if I was sure. Clearly the first guy who helped me didn't relay the message that I had voice mail and email confirmations. But it's fine, I just love explaining myself over and over again, so it's cool. -.- Then for some magical reason, A found me in the system, told me that we are passed my appt time, might be 3 hours, what they were going to do and how much it would be and I was fine with it so I waited in the lobby/ waiting area. So in the mix of me watching TV, reading and listening to podcast. 'A' came and told me to follow him, he explained that within 1 of my four tires there is a nail inside and he would recommend I get it fixed with him right away and this is how much it's going to be. I told him, no because 1. Idk how much tires cost 2. I don't want to get taken advantage of even if he claims to match or whatever. So I stuck with a no and he right then and there started to scare me with this whole deal of: let me be honest with you. I wouldn't let my mom drive it. The tire will explode. It can cause an accident. I wouldn't let my staff drive it. It's too dangerous. The tires will blow out. Seriously??! Wtf is going on here, how is this making me feel any better. I felt like he was pressuring me by telling me that if I didn't pay the $6-700 tire change for my car, it will blow up and I will die and maybe even kill people along the way. I just stood my ground and stick with a no. So an hour or so passes and my car is finally done and this jerk comes and gets me and tells me that no one can or is allowed to drive my car up for me because it a hazard and dangerous. After paying, he had me walk with him all the way to the far corner of the parking lot to drive my car out. All by myself. During the walk I was just getting glances and stares from the maintenance guys as if I did something wrong. So, question, if they are not allowed to drive the car out for me to pick up, who the hell drove my car all the way to the far corner of the lot? Just curious. Not going to lie the entire time I was furious, I get it I have a nail in my tire. But don't be an asshole to because I am girl or don't know much of a car. Don't try to explain to me it's dangerous, bitch, I know it is and I know it's horrible that I am taking my car out to the world. But I don't feel comfortable with the way you are treating me. So I will not change my tire with you. Don't use scares and threats to your customers! A few days after, Toyota emails for survey, I didn't do it. I just figured I will just take this shitty experience and move on with my life and not return. But then recently I got a text with this jerk asking me do the survey and pretty much give him 'truly exceptional' and if I can't to give him a call first to see how he can fix it. Uhh excuse me, really now? So I decided to hop on to my handy dandy Yelp to check this guy out, he had quite a few show outs here. Mostly from people who barely or never leave reviews so we can tell how compelling his customer service skills are. I'm not gonna waste time going over the entire story so I'm just going to cut to the chase. I took my car in to get a full diagnostic ran because for some reason I couldn't get my O2 sensor monitor to turn on. I made it clear that my budget is super tight right now because I've thrown almost every last penny I had into this dang car trying to get the issue fixed. Dropped my car off at the dealership, and about 30 minutes later after I got home, they called and said they couldn't continue the diagnostic until they replaced another part that they couldn't even guarantee would fix the problem. They wanted $810 to switch out the part. I wasn't able to pay that amount at that time so I declined. I wasn't even mad at that. I thought everything was fine and dandy, went back, paid $165 for the "full diagnostic" that lasted about 45 minutes (was supposed to be all day, but hey, I guess they couldn't continue without the part) and I came back home. The next day I changed my oil and noticed that both the bolt AND the oil filter were both loosened, literally on the verge of falling off. I am the only person who changes my oil, and I've watched my other mechanics when they work on my car. NO ONE else has been near that area recently. Did they get offended that I couldn't afford the $810 and in retaliation messed with my car? I've never had that issue before with the oil filter and bolt, and considering the timing, it seems really fishy. On 4/2/24, my daughter hit a pothole, and she took it to a trusted dealer which was, Toyota Pasadena to take care of it. Instead, they tried to swindle her by claiming her upper control arm was bent and her car was unsafe to drive. I found out because my daughter was taking an Uber all week to and from work when she told me what happened I sent her to two other mechanics who found none of the issues Toyota of Pasadena claimed were present. It's infuriating to realize a company like Toyota, which we've been loyal to for years, would stoop so low. We have four Toyota vehicles bought in the last decade, and it's appalling to think the dealerships might be dishonest. Trying to fleece my daughter for an extra thousand dollars on a nonexistent problem is beyond unacceptable. Went here recently for recall service. Made an appointment first thing in the morning with hopes of leaving quickly, but it took 2 hours. The main reason for the two stars is that several employees had their noses out of their masks and two who were in and out of offices on the east side of the building had NO masks on. I mean come on. Daniel was my service advisor for my latest visit. I don't want to go into too much detail about the repair, since this review is more about the quality of service I received from Daniel. Prior to speaking to Daniel, I was having trouble getting in touch with someone in their service department. I had made another call and was about to give up, when I was transferred to Daniel. He listened to my situation and we set up an appointment for me to bring the car in. When I arrived, he came out to greet me. We went to his desk and he wrote up the ticket. He did a great job communicating the status of the estimate. The insurance company had told me they were working with the dealer, but when I asked for a name, there was silence, so I knew someone had dropped the ball. Daniel confirmed this, so another call to the insurance company and within 48 hours, the insurance company got back to me. Unfortunately, it wasn't what I wanted to hear. I called Daniel on Saturday and told him the bad news. He understood and I picked up my car on Monday. He was very professional and the best thing is that I didn't feel like I was his paycheck (I've been to many other service writers who make me feel this way). Daniel went above and beyond, he was attentive, showed empathy and above all, I feel like a valued customer. Five stars for Daniel! This review is solely based on the experience I had about a few years back when I was about to purchase my first car. *Disclaimer* this review is not intended to speak on behalf of the staff that is currently there, but just wanted to share my "first time buyer experience" at this location. Prior to coming, I've done my research on which car I wanted for my first "brand new car". Upon arriving, there were at least a dozen men who lined up at the front trying to verbally fight one another to see who would get to speak to our party first. I know what sales is like, so I'm very aware of the "sharky" mentality car salesman can have. Nevertheless, an employee approached me and insisted he "helped" me. I was Interested in the FRS and I wanted to see all the available colors they had and possibly test drive it (which any regular potential buyer might ask). HOWEVER, this man would not let me test drive a vehicle unless I guaranteed my business with him!!! I repeat, he would not let me drive the car unless i was purchasing the car today. I could have said yes because that was indeed my intention, but the fact he said that made me feel so bitter and it was insulting. I've been in sales and customer service, this person showed absolutely no respect to his customers. Disgusted on how he treated me (I'm assuming because I looked quite young at the time, with no Intent to buy), I left, took my business to another dealership and bought myself a genesis coupe. Unfortunately, I no longer know the name of the individual, however as management, I suggest you teach your sales team to better respect their potential buyers no matter how young they look. Your business might just do well if you treated them nicely. Nonetheless, I'm glad I did not give him my business because he did not earn that commission I was about to give him. Took my car for 5 k complementary service, comes with warranty. Car was taken in for service around 7:30 am, an hour later was notified what my car is ready for pickup. Picked it up, signed all papers, and left. Before I came for a service I checked my tires, under the hood, all fluids and engin oil color by dipstick. After I picked up my car I checked all of that again. I was not surprised- nothing was done under the hood, same dust, same level on fluids and same color and level of oil on dipstick. It is not nice people. We trust you with our cars, our lives depends on them on the roads. Had similar issue with different car dealership, different make. A Prius LE 2018 with 12000 miles only $3000 less than new a 2021 Prius. Oh!, but I get roof rack added, all weather matts, and a small rear rubber bumper protector and all installed for an added $3000! WOW!!! Although all the listed items sell for less than $500, the installation cost was $2500??? I wanted to buy locally. I did ask for a new Prius in a certain color, but they couldn't or wouldn't order or find one. I was told that "market adjustment price" from other dealers on top of everything else was an extra $5000?? So I went on-line and built the Prius I wanted and was contacted by another dealer in a nearby locality. No "market adjustment price." We bought all the "extras" on-line and watched the Youtube videos to install the roof rack and small bumper protector. I had a problem with tire light a day or two later after having my schedule maintenance service. I found that tire pressure in my tires were over inflated. I return to toyota service dept. and explain why I was there. Upon completion of inspection I was told that to repair tire light would cost several hundred dollars I contacted management to reconsider this cost and why. After acknowledging that over inflation of tires did occurred at there last service date they would wave cost of repairs to me. Nice, had to pay $185 for a false diagnosis on my car. I was going to the shop since I had a check engine light, got the diagnosis, but it had two extra services which I've already done 2 months ago when I came into the shop. If I hadn't gone home and checked online for the repeated services definitely would've got scammed. The guy who was in charge of helping me (Chris) was legit sweating when I said I was gonna leave after realizing the ridiculous diagnosis. Due to this, I had to go to another shop, get another diagnosis and pay money for that. I went home to file a complaint to customer service and what I got was "just a mistake" and they aren't willing to accept any responsibility. I mean really, the lease you can do is give me my diagnosis fee back since it was clearly a mistake in the diagnosis (which you agree to) but won't do anything to make things better. So yeah, hope no one had such a messed up experience but definitely don't recommend anyone going there, guess I should've looked at yelp first before going since...rating's pretty bad huh. Toyota Pasadena - Auto Repair Near Me - Pasadena, California

I purchased a tire from Toyota Pasadena last year for my 4Runner. Last month I got two punctures on two tires at the same time. When I went to see them to fix or replace my tires, Toyota Pasadena suggested that I replace all 4 tires. I asked them to honor the Costco Price for the 4 tires on my 4Runner which was about $40 less per tire (!). Toyota Pasadena refused as they said they offer a road hazard warranty (see below) but so does Costo (which has an even better one) so that was no legitimate excuse. So the Toyota Tire Price Match Guarantee is not honored at Toyota Pasadena. I then asked Toyota Pasadena to replace one tire or at least plug it. Toyota Pasadena again refused saying them it would be a waste of time. So Toyota Pasadena doesn't honor the Toyota Road Hazard Tire Guarantee either. With the yellow idiot light on, I had to limp over to Costco to get my tires replaced--very stressful. Complained to Toyota USA but it just logged the complaint. The next stop is the FTC. read more

Made an appointment with Toyota of Pasadena earlier in the week to have the transmission fluid flushed. I made the appointment for 930 am and when I got there the clerk informed me to that the car wouldn't be ready till after 1pm. When I got the bill it was $277. I feel if someone makes an appointment the car should be worked on at the appointment time and not set off to the side in a nearby parking lot as I saw was done with my vehicle. Furthermore the $277 charge I thought was excessive. 5 years ago Toyota of Glendora charged me around half as much. I previously brought in Dodge 2500 with a Diesel engine for the same procedure and which took 1 hour at Glendora Dodge. The cost was $140 to have the transmission flushed on my Dodge. Btw I called Toyota of Glendora and they wanted $479. read more

I purchased a MINI here earlier in the summer, and my experience was quite positive overall. The price was reasonable (even accounting for the repairs I found out the car would need), and the it seems to be doing well. Of course they tried to charge me a bit too much for some extras that really weren't worth the money, but that's to be expected. They were very forthcoming with the Carfax, maintenance history, and the report their mechanics had compiled when inspecting that car. Since it was used, they did let me take it to an independent mechanic to have it inspected -- which is fortunate, since this uncovered some rather important issues which the dealer's inspection seems to have missed (so it's probably worth doing that, especially if you're buying a non-Toyota that may need a specialist's opinion). The sales staff weren't quite up-to-speed on the contract options and related matters -- which is natural (you can't really expect everyone to have all the financial minutiae down pat), but there were a few times when they gave me incorrect details or mis-characterizations that negatively affected how I approached the bargaining process. I (like to) think none of this was intentional, and so it's not really a negative. Just know that you should be willing to press the staff on the details, and double check with the finance people. In sum, I found out that it pays to be careful when buying a used car. The nice thing about this dealership is that they understood that as well, and even when the buying process got a little messy (as with the inspection and finance details) they were happy to let me do whatever I needed to see if the car was worth buying, and to help me along that process as well as they could without ever trying to push me. Most important thing: Daniel C. is an excellent person to buy a car from. I have only positive things to say about my interactions with him, and overwhelmingly positive at that. Very friendly and accommodating, and I never felt like he was pushing me to buy a car I wasn't totally sold on. 10/10. read more

I went in to check on how comfortable a RAV4 would be to my aging 6'6" frame and was immediately met by the salesperson that showed me the vehicle, let me sit in it, and that was all good (it wasn't comfortable, so I have to scratch that one off my list). I looked at the price at $33,500.00 and remarked that it seemed fair since it was a hybrid. The salesman informed me that the price was actually $42K+ since they added $7K over MSRP because they could. No reason other than price-gouging and he said everybody else is doing it so they are too. Other dealers may be adding some... like $1.5 K... but seven thousand extra dollars? No freaking way! I'll not be wasting my time at such an unscrupulous dealership in the future. Even when the chip crisis is over, I'll remember their shenanigans. I like to support local businesses, but not when local businesses act like crooks. read more
