As soon as we came in we were greeted and asked if they can help us with any items we are looking for. We were looking for a specific Baby Three blind box and Pop Mart's Haci Pupu Gummy Bear. Found the mini Baby Three Bunny blind box. Good to know there's a Tokyo Japanese Lifestyle store in The Shops Mall and plenty of parking spaces available for use to park your vehicles.

The organization here is excellent, and everything is clean, bagged properly, and easy to find. It's clearly a work in progress but the hard work shows. I visited this shop as well as the two most local shops to it, and this one is the only shop where I felt welcome, and able to shop. This is the best comic book shop in the palm desert area. A simple hello goes a long way, but the only person who seemed to maybe work here was engrossed in his phone too much to even notice I was shopping. This store LOOKS well stocked, but it's almost entirely an illusion. It's mostly funko pops, which is fine, but they are dispersed throughout the store in a way that makes finding anything specific impossible. The rest of the figures are old peg warmers marked ilup significantly from msrp. Speaking of wildly crazy markups, the huge selection of back issues are marked "minimum of $3" regardless of the sticker price. The back issues are clearly a large collection of dollar bin books purchased, never sorted, and just flopped out onto the tables like raw meat. It is impossible to shop the back issues unless you have all day to sort through the completely and utterly random boxes. This store lacks any charm, or charisma and seems to be simply a way for the owners to price gouge dollar issues to people who don't know any better. Even the issues being sold at a premium are 3-4 dollars more expensive here than online. In addition, there is signage throughout the store that warns shoplifters that they will be sued for 100,000 dollars if they steal, which i understand is a deterrent for what is probably a real problem, but phrasing it like this reinforces the fact that this place is only looking for an extra buck on goods that are not worth the price, nor effort to steal. If they would actually expend a modicum of effort to clean up the back issues, and break away from the cycle of price gouging comics to kids in the mall, they'd have a decent location and stock, but in the state it is in now, you're better off going to a swap meet.

It's also well lit since natural light is coming in through the huge doors and windows from the entrance accessibility on the street. All the different book sections are highlighted and well represented from Anime, Manga, Sci Fi, Young Readers, Novels, Magazines to name a few. Their children's sections is also very welcoming. They have the stage and little chairs for the little ones. This Barnes & Noble location carries everything from books, art, toys, DVDs, magazines and some collectible items. You can definitely find most of the books you're looking for at this location. This is a great place for avid readers like us. We found some cool and interesting books at this location that's hard to find.

We mentioned it was for an 8 year old and they assured us she would be able to operate it. They took it out of the box and put fresh batteries in and showed us that it worked (they have a disclaimer posted that you need to make sure what you are buying is "good" before leaving with it. Ours was "good". After she opened her helicopter, dad tested it for a very short flight then we put it back in the box, for later. The next time she took it out of the box, she powered it on but did not fly it. We were about to eat so asked her to put it away until she ate. When she tried to turn it back on, there was no power so we figured it needed a charge. We charged it following the instructions exactly, but it never worked again. We took it back to Funny Toys and spoke to 2 different men. By the 1st, we were told if it had been an exterior part they would have replaced the part but claimed we messed up the interior battery (which cannot be changed) so there was nothing they could do. The 2nd man said he could sell us a more expensive one that is "easier to fly" (which wasn't our problem). He said it was regularly $60, currently on sale for $35, but he would "help us out" by giving it to us at $30 and no tax. I told him we did not have more money to spend on something that has no guarantees and if he could not replace ours I would have no choice but to ensure that others are able to read my review so they know not to shop there. So here I am.
