service is awful. we needed a table for 3 and waited to be seated for 20 minutes without anyone working there saying "we will be with you soon". mind you, the restaurant was half full and we could see at least ten open tables. then while we were waiting a party of six came in and got seated within 2 minutes at the counter. we went and told one of the servers who appeared to be running the whole restaurant that we were here first, and she said rudely "well i'm sure one will open up". as if there weren't many many tables available. we finally got seated and got see the very interesting look of the diner. there is a dirty carpet that is in the diner and we got seated in the very back of the diner where it was very dark and dingy. then, we ordered food which took a while for a waiter to even come over and ask what we wanted to drink. my brother who is 13 years old wanted to order something from the kids menu but it was only for ten and under, and when we asked if he could just order something off the kids menu one of the waitresses very rudely said "no because if we let you order of the kids menu we would have to let everyone order off of the kids menu." like is it really that big of a deal? just make your customers happy? once we ordered the food, two grilled cheeses, we waited 45 minutes for our food to be delivered to our table. again, the restaurant was even more empty than when we showed up. the food finally came 45 minutes after we ordered it and was not good. it is very hard to mess up two grilled cheeses but they were so small and so bland. they just added on a ton of potato chips to the plate to make the grilled cheese look bigger. and then it was pretty expensive for what you are getting and the time it takes to be ready in a half full restaurant. overall, i would not recommend going here at all. On a walk through downtown Belfast, we happened to stop at Traci's. This diner gave us a full experience! The staff was patient and friendly. It was extremely nice that they had gluten free breads. The food was pricey for what it was, but the chowder was the best ever! read more

Restricted to GF, diners are always a challenge. And I love a basic 2 eggs, breakfast meat and toast plate on the weekends. Traci's Diner delivers! After the basic interview questions regarding preparation set ups. I got exactly what I love. Eggs and ham with gf bread. The server asked for the grill to be wiped and the cook did one better. They cooked all my pieces in a separate pan. We aren't always in town before 2 pm (closing time), but if we are Traci's the place we will be visiting. Highly disappointing. Hubby bought me breakfast for mother's Day and I was so looking forward to it. I had ordered the jack stack in the past and was a huge fan! This morning what I received was a very sad, cold, slimy and lumpy bowl of ick. There was no definition to anything. It was just cold uncooked hash brown mixed with scrambled egg and a spicy gravy. I loved how informal they are in this tiny diner with wonderful food and great coffee! It seems like a place for the locals and that's exactly the kind of spot you want when you are on vacation! This simple Diner served me the best breakfast I've had in a while! The giant blueberry pancake was the highlight for me, but the coffee really surprised me when it was so good! Normally I don't even drink coffee at a diner because they rarely make a decent cup, but THIS ONE was fantastic! Our server was very sweet and very attentive and was kind enough to write down some recommendations of places we should visit, which we did and her recommendations were spot on! Delicious and generous breakfast- served all day (breakfast /lunch spot). Deep fried home fries are flavorful and filling. Excellent chili omelet is filled with chili, papers, onions, cheeses -- comes with toast (raisin for us - nice option). My platter choice came with choice of bread (I went with a biscuit - large and lightly toasted on the grill.), scrambled eggs, and bacon - which I requested as extra crispy. The bacon was beautifully curly and crisp - perfection!! Drinks included endless coffee, hot chocolate with whipped cream, and chocolate milk (a full cup - not one of those mini things). The service was friendly and quick. The decor is bright and fun-- birdhouses on a shelf and large, bright paintings on the wall in the dining area with large windows. On our trip from the Southwest to visit the incredible and beautiful state of Maine we stopped by Belfast and decided to explore and have breakfast. We read the very good reviews for Traci's Diner. When we arrived the place was packed, and we had a long wait, which was understandable. When our breakfast arrived the bacon was very very soft and undercooked! We requested a bit more time and it came back nice and crispy. Our breakfasts were nothing to write home about. Our server was attentive and friendly. While sitting in the side room waiting for our breakfasts, we are appalled by the dirty carpet, especially under the booths. And the bathroom! OMG! I cannot believe this place would past any kind of health inspection. Large areas of the carpet were black. Perhaps it has to do with wet snow and rain and the cool climate and people wearing boots. They need to get rid of the carpet! read more

I was so disappointed. I love diners and had had a lovely breakfast in a diner in Searsport the day before. Belfast is beautiful and I hoped for another great experience. But here the pancakes were gluey and the bottoms were burned. Real maple syrup cost an extra $3.50 for a little container. The sausage links were fatty and strangely tasteless and the toast looked like it was made from cheap bread from a grocery store bag. The floor is an ancient carpet covered in food bits and dirt. The bathroom is a half-hour finished closet. And it took longer to get my food here than I think I've ever experienced at a diner before! Pluses: the wait staff was fine. And the wall decorations are really interesting. Overall, I'd suggest skipping this one. read more

We arrived and were seated in a half full restaurant. Server promptly took our order and got us some coffees... Our visit went downhill from there! After waiting 30 minutes for a veggie omelette and corned beef hash with over medium eggs (a house special), I started wondering what was taking so long. They may have heard me questioning this to my dining companian because after 5 minutes, our server came over to tell us 'they were shortstaffed in kitchen, our order WAS FOUR TICKETS deep still and if we wanted to leave coffee was on them'. We were making a trip to Acadia and needed a warm meal, so we stayed despite them making us feel unwelcome. That was until the two tables next to us - one who arrived shortly before us received/ate/paid for their meal, and the other who arrived after received/ate meal- that we decided this place WAS TOO MUCH! We promptly got up and left and when the server was asked if they give preferential treatment to locals, we were not given a straight or believeable answer. Truly sad as my dining partner had been to this place before and had great experiences. I've worked in the service industry and was appalled by their excuses. Coffee was meh with atmosphere being even less enjoyable. Please train the 5 ladies working the front on how to do basic kitchen prep if you want to claim you're short staffed and use this as a way to get people to wait over an hour for food. I have ordered takeout 3 times now, and all 3 times they got it wrong!!! Not a hard order simply no tomatoes, yet always loaded with the nasty things. And the problem is that when you call to tell them the screw up, the answer is always oops mistakes happen. While this is true it shouldn't keep happening when you have them read the order back to you. My other complaint would be that they never offer to make it right. read more

Stopped in to Traci's one morning on vacation for breakfast. I had a full meal- pancakes, eggs, ham. All really tasty. Nothing out of this world or mind-blowing, but good. This felt very much like a local joint. We were seated in the upper section near the counter and a lot of people who came in seemed to know each other or the folks who were working there. I have to say, my favorite part of this place may have been the decor. There were big frames with records in them-mostly from the 80s and early 90s. It was great. I took pictures. Very unorganized. There was no method to seating, the wait staff was obviously frustrated with the kitchen, slips were getting lost... they post its "the best diner on the midcoast"... If that's the case, they must be the only diner on the mid coast. We waited for 5-10 minutes just for our waitress to ask us for drinks. The food and price was decent. Coffee was good too. However, being seated took forever because they don't have any real method. There were empty tables and no one to seat people. We finally day at the counter, where we also waited forever to order. We ate here due to the positive reviews on Yelp. What a mistake! Friday morning, 9:00 a.m. We walk in. There are a number of open tables. We are told that the only table is the one right by the door because it's the only one that's set. Um, setting a table here means putting down a thin napkin and a fork, knife and spoon. But, okay. We sit down and look at the menu. We order. We get our coffee. Decent. We wait for our meal. We had both ordered a house specialty--potato cakes topped with eggs and gravy. I ordered mine with a homemade biscuit. We also got a side of blueberry pancakes to share. We wait a while. In the mean time, hordes of hungry people come in. There are open tables, but they aren't set. So these people wait. Our coffee cups are empty. But we haven't seen our waiter since we gave our order. Foo. Our food comes! Yay! And we get coffee refills! Yay! The food tastes...not so good. The potato cakes have bit of raw-tasting potatoes in them. And raw onions. First, I hate onions in my food. Second, there was NOTHING in the description that said the cakes had onions in them. Bad! But even worse, the homemade biscuit was made by a baker with the delicacy of a bull in a china shop. Giant, yes. But it had the consistency and flavor of sawdust. It's really apparent that they don't taste their food, and that their cook believes that 'half gooey' is the right texture for blueberry pancakes. Maybe they were supposed to be goo-berry pancakes. The only thing that was tasty was the sausage gravy. But other than that, Traci's diner delivers horrible food with lackluster service. We had to hunt down our waiter for the check. We never had anyone check on the food (probably because they knew it was bad). Skip this place. It's hard to mess up breakfast, but Traci's does it, and serves it up with a sneer. read more

Down home traditional café diner - an original. Soda fountain seating, booths and tables. Hand painted murals in the walls. Cute decor. Friendly staff and large windows for light. Relaxed atmosphere. A lot of locals eating here - that gives one a good idea about the price and especially the quality of the food. The simplest dishes are cooked with extraordinary skill - flavors are wonderful and quantities are sufficient. A small little diner in Belfast, Maine. OK, so the wife and I are on vacation. If you're like me and hate those "continental breakfast" things that the hotel offers and you don't want to pay hotel breakfast menu prices...what do you do ? Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and always seems to be an issue when travelling. Well, the hotel manager actually recommended this little diner in town and we LOVED it !!! Wife had bacon and eggs. I had this amazing dish of eggs, hashbrown casserole which had sausage cooked into it and the entire dish smothered in wonderfully delicious sausage gravy. Sausage gravy is a white, slightly peppery gravy which most restaurants begrudgingly wave some sausage at. Not so here !! The gravy actually had sausage in it and was wonderfully delicious. Complimenting the breakfast was a light and fluffy house-made biscuit which was perfect for sopping up the last of that gravy !!! I wish all our vacations had some place nice like Traci's t to start our day !!!!!!!!! read more

If I could give this place no stars I would , it came highly recommended by some locals and me and my husband ordered some cottage cheese , and a bagel with cream cheese , I had water , my husband a cup of brown water (coffee) we waited for 30 minutes whilst everyone else came and went and got served , we got up and politely said we were leaving and my too nice of of husband gave them a five which they shamelessly took! We stopped by Traci's Diner for a quick breakfast/lunch. A typical diner type atmosphere, clean and welcoming. The service was friendly and quick, we were in and out in 30 minutes. We ordered blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, turkey club, and unsweetened ice teas. Honestly the best blueberry pancake we have sampled in years, fresh, packed full of blueberries, sweet, crispy and caramelized on the edges, The turkey club was made with fresh turkey, it was delicious! Three of us arrived after the breakfast rush so it was far from busy. The sign states wait to be seated even at the counter. This leaves you standing and ignored while you have to shuffle out of the way for people trying to leave. Next comes the wait for food while pretty much everyone after you gets served. Over half an hour wait .... my over easy eggs were over cooked and the big kicker was my son's order didn't show up until we were half done with our plates so at least 45 minutes. The best part is the tribute to early 80's pop stars! Giant pictures of Lionel Ritchie, Madonna, Tina Turner, etc... in all of their big hair-80's glossiness, overlooking the place from every wall. Hit or miss on food and service. I've been here several times and for the most part the food and service are OK. The service tends to be at its worst slow but pleasant. The food on the other hand ranges from average to very poor. The menu is your standard diner fair with the occasional nice specials. Speaking of specials one of the worst meals I had there was chicken Alfredo. The sauce without a doubt came from a jar but the best part of it was the fact that it was cold. I'm not talking room temperature I'm talking directly from the refrigerator kind of cold. Which means that this was without a doubt a microwaved meal. Traci's is a great little local spot in town to go and grab breakfast or lunch. They make a good cup of coffee, and have pretty run of the mill diner food. It's a kitschy homey place that makes you feel at home, with the basic heart warming meals that we all know and love. They've got good homefries, and I always enjoy their corned beef hash and blueberry pancakes. I will say, the other day we went in there and there was a large party, and we waited around 10 minutes to be seated, which was a bit upsetting, but I can chalk this up to limited staff and a table of twelve.
