First of all most of the menu involving seafood was not available. The only two out of our party of 6 that got their first choice was the kids off the kids menu. Service was okay except for our waitress serving flat soda. Apparently she could or didn't know soda should be bubbling. Ambiance was nothing special, diner like seating. read more

Clearly we had a different experience than others, we loved it! Breakfast for two on a Sunday morning. It wasn't crazy-busy but it was pretty active inside. I had a breakfast sandwich with home fries. Really, really good! Crisp, grilled home fries with onions. Sandwich was delicious. My husband had the French toast, made with house made bread. Loved it. Coffee was good, although you pay for refills. Service was efficient and friendly. Will be back. Ambiance is diner seating - booths, some tables and the counter. There is a bar accessible from the inside right side of the restaurant. Bar and table seating. I saw people having cocktails and breakfast. Nice! read more

A great diner and a great price. Fun interior and very good service. Lasagna was phenomenal. The price was fantastic. The owner was in the dining room, chatting with customers like they were old friends, and that felt nice. What a great vibe! Went for breakfast 9 days later and was less than blown away. Service was abysmally slow. We waited half an hour to get served. We had to take our coffee cups up to the counter to get a refill. The three girls behind the counter were not interested in serving customers. Breakfast was not as impressive as the dinner. Once they get the kinks worked out, I am sure breakfast will be as good as dinner. read more

We wanted to love this place as we enjoy the goodies from the nearby bakery. Needless to say, it didnt work out. We stopped by a couple of days ago (early April) for lunch, on a Thursday around 12:30. We walked in to see all of the tables filled but as one became available shortly we were seated promptly. The wait staff looked harried. There were two of them and they were running around frantically, apparently to catch up. Several tables were awaiting food and others were waiting to order. We ordered our meal, a BLT and a "panini". After waiting for 45 minutes our food we needed to leave to make an appointment. So we told the waitress that we'd pay for the food and the sodas we had, but we were leaving without them. She said the order was just being plated and apologized, saying that "all of our food is cooked to order". (!!?? isn't all food prepared that way?) We finally got our order as we were leaving. She apologized again for the delay. I don't know how they're gonna survive when things get busier with the summer. Fwiw- The BLT was good, as were the "fresh potato chips". The pan I was a grilled sandwiches just grilled sliced bread, like a grilled cheese. Not a ciabatta or focaccia. It was ...okay. We will try again as the fried seafood that passes by looked and smelled good, and from the looks on the faces of those who had it, apparently tasted good as well. read more

First time trying, the Ambiance was nice , good parking . Service it (was a take out order ) very friendly, now food hmmm fries cold , the smash burger good but a little cold . My fiancé. Had chicken strips and fries fries cold too but chicken strips good . A big thing I would say are the fries , needs to be much better. read more

Very disappointing. The bacon was chewy and stiff as a board. The hash browns were an oval frozen disk fried and greasy. The french toast was okay but the honey butter was solid and didn't melt. I only gave this meal a 3 because of the waitresses...they were very nice and attentive. read more

Our experience was similar to other reviewers. I feel sad about the restaurant because I really like the bakery and the people who own it and was excited to hear that they were opening a diner. The decor is fun. A tasteful take on the 1950s. Some of the servers were in 50s garb which was cute. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Similar to another reviewer, we drove to the restaurant a week or so ago only to find a sign on the door saying they would open for dinner. I had checked the hours and Facebook prior to driving 40 minutes from Belfast. Irritating but we had a nice lunch at a Stowaways in downtown Bucksport. So we had an errand in Blue Hill yesterday and decided to stop in our way back. Yippee! The restaurant is open. We arrived at 11:40 and were told the kitchen was transitioning from breakfast to lunch. We could be seated, but no orders would be taken until noon. Okay, that seems weird but we decided to stay....... I ordered the double smash burger and my husband ordered a chicken salad sandwich. Both arrived with homemade chips and pickle. I knew from the first bite that the burger was made from poor quality meat. It might as well have been a fast food burger. Even with grilled onions it was tasteless. The chicken salad was boring and overloaded with mayo. The prices are reasonable, but I would prefer to pay more for better quality. There are often stumbles in a new restaurant, but the quality of the food does not meet the standards of their bakery. read more

staff was excellent. very friendly and attentive. However, the food was not good. wasn't bad, just not good. I got the 'Cher' omelette with ham, onion, mushrooms, bacon, cheese, spinach etc.... the omelette was less than 1/4 inch thick. it was almost like the ingredients had been blended then put on like a spread. The eggs were very dry. I only gave it a high rating because the staff was so good. We will try again for lunch another day. read more

Eggs Benedict is really good. I have had it twice. Diner is newly painted and redecorated. Crowds have calmed down since first month so it's much easier to be seated. read more

We had an amazing, affordable breakfast. Big thick, fluffy French toast, a heap of tasty home fries, a delicious mimosa, and owned and operated by some of my favorite people ever!! Highly recommend visiting ANY Sweet Cheeks location! We will be back for sure read more

Communication among kitchen and staff does not make sense, we received our food after 30 minutes, food was cold, corn beef had no flavor and had so much fatty stuff I couldn't stomach it! I think they are expanding into territory they are not familiar with! Stick to baking!!! You may be ruining your style read more

I went to Sweet Cheeks on two separate occasions for breakfast! The first time we arrived around 9:45am to the doors being locked (no sign on the door or any Facebook post stating that they were closing for part of the day). After trying to open the door a lady yells from the side of the building that they're closed for a couple hours. I understand things happen in the kitchen/dining room but I was not impressed, especially after traveling an hour for food. The second occasion, my family and I walked right in and was sat at a table in the middle of dining room. The dining room is smaller size so I was constantly having to adjust my kids seat and mine, so the waitress could fit through. After ordering our food and drinks we waited around 40 minutes (mind you they had 3 other guests in the waiting room). After receiving our food, the look and taste was underwhelming and disappointing. The bacon and home fries tasted like it was left in a grease pan for days before being served. If you were hoping to have a nice breakfast experience, I would just keep driving... read more

We arrived around 4:30 the rest of the party was seated by 5 pm , it took till 5:45 for them to take our order and then almost 1 hour later we received our food, It was not busy there were 3 wait staff for maybe 25 people total in place. The staff showed up with food and had us pass it down the table family style to the person that ordered it. Later is was said that they could not remember who ordered what :( The seafood was over cooked the potatoes were undercooked. The menus had old food stuck on them. So it came time for desert and we ordered coffee and desert. After the coffee was delivered we were told they were out of some of the desert we ordered, this should have been known at the time of order. Now the bathrooms were clean and the tables were too. In the future we will stick to the bakery only on Verona island as they do have great staff and treats. I would drive past this dinner just a 1/2 mile down the road to Macdonald's at least you know you get better service and ok food maybe. Just as a note the owner did stop in to tell us the food would be out soon then 30 mins later it came out. read more

Partner and I stopped by for an early dinner after an afternoon of hiking. Got there just before five and it was already pretty busy. Seemed like a good sign. We were seated almost immediately and then the wait began. Took a good 10 minutes or more before our server came by and then it was only to tell us he would be by in a few minutes. The few minutes stretched into many minutes. Eventually our order was taken . We waited and waited. People who came in after us were being served. Our waiter was busy with people on the other side of the partition and we really didn't see him very often. Several people came by including the hostess to tell us our food would be out soon. After nearly an hour our food arrived . It looked good....I had ordered Lasagna and partner ordered Chicken Parm. My lasagna was pretty unappealing , it was like warm, not hot. The French fries were cold and limp. The sauce tasted like it came from the supermarket. The fries were inedible. The side salad was so so. The chicken parm was slightly better but not great. Our waiter was very nice but very overworked. I like Sweet Cheeks Bakery and I wanted to like the restaurant. But the owners need to step up and improve their game.
