Arrived at Tracks at 5:30 on a Thursday evening with the family. First thing we noticed were all of the cars. This was a good sign. The bad sign was, after entering it was 90% senior citizens. We were greeted and seated immediately. loved the decor. Lots of cool "train stuff" to look at on the walls. A model train makes its way around the dining room. One thing missing is some sort of music. For as many people in their dining room, it was awkwardly quietly with only the sound of people chewing. I'm assuming that's what happens when you eat with someone you've been married to for 40+ years. I started with the chicken tortilla soup. It was okay, pretty average. Chicken, corn, tomatoes, cheese. Only thing lacking were the black beans. I opted for the jalapeño Swiss burger and fries. At first, the burger looked like all bun and little meat, however, the buns are homemade, so when you squeeze the burger on your first bite everything was proportionate. Fries were hot and fresh. Final word: I expected way worse. But, it's not the owners fault the seniors flock to Tracks. The burger was good, the service (Brandy) was attentive, clean dining room and restrooms, and reasonably priced. I don't see any reason to give them less than a 5 Star. read more

I ordered fried zucchini. I ate one and asked if they were seasoned. The waitress told me they were. I informed her that I couldn't taste any seasoning. She offered to bring me some seasoning salt. By then they had become cold and I didn't want them. She brought me my bill had me pay for them and I left. Sucked ass. Waste of time. read more

loved it! went there for the first time with my church family. the waiting area was a bit cramped but then again there was a lot of us in our party. got seated after a bit...but again...there was a lot of us. i love the train theme! even appreciated the poster about Hogsmeade (love the books and the movies) i did not order any appetizers but my friends did - appetizer platter - the fried mushrooms are my favorite in any place. will definitely grab some fried green tomatoes next time & a dessert!! i got the chili burger with jalapenos and onion rings and it was all delicious! read more

I don't think we have ever left disappointed! We have been going to Tracks since the 1990's. At first it was for the burgers, then the chicken fried steak sandwiches. Tonight, we enjoyed the fried pickles, bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. I told the waitress that I had a problem, she asked what it was, I told her that my wife ate half of my burger. Honestly, after eating the fried pickles, a whole hamburger and onion rings was not happening. I am glad we shared. The waitress did a very good job, especially since they were so busy. We were seated by the manager and she even came back to check on us. We got some strawberry and red velvet cake to bring home. I will have to give you a review on it later. I ordered the chopped stake with baked potato, the backed potato was so well done it was brown inside, scorched, it wasn't the first time I got it that way so I called and complained, they told me more or less " too bad", didn't care in the least bit about what I thought, I'm not going back and I'm going to tell everyone I know not to go there also. read more

Something has been different the last two times I got my usual burger and onion rings. I think there's something different about the batter they used for the onion rings. This one has more of a peppery taste. Luckily the batter they use at Mg's has the flavor I'm looking for. I wish Tracks hadn't changed it. read more

The appetizer sampler is wonderful. Their fried pickles put all other fried pickles to shame. Their chicken fried steak has more meat than batter, and you can still cut it with a fork. read more

I met a lady at Jury Duty and we teamed up and she drove us to Tracks. Pretty popular place with the locals. Loved the railroad antiques and the train above on the tracks!! I ate the chicken fried steak with gravy & onion rings and fried okra. Hard to find me some good fried okra. She had the chicken fried steak sandwich and the steak was huge and filling. Her side order were the onion rings. I was picked for a jury and will be going to Tracks for lunch. I will have to bring my husband to this place. He has all the railroad antiques at home and more in our backyard. I may do this as a meet up on a Saturday and Check out more of what Sherman has to offer. Fun, clean environment with good chicken fried steaks, be sure to try the Monte Cristo also! They have train pictures as well as a train going around the ceiling so if you or your children enjoy things like that then this is the only place around (that we have found) that has that sort of thing. read more

Glad to have found this little gem off the beaten path in Sherman. Real, home town eatery with a cool atmosphere. The working you train running around the room is so fun! Typical, hometown diner type food but everything nerve eaten has been good. The chicken fried steak could be improved on but we'll still come back for good food and service. read more

My wife and I have lived in Sherman for two years and finally went here at Tracks and was very surprised. The inside was recently remodeled and was very nice and clean my favorite was the train traveling around the inside close to the celling. We had their chicken fried steak and it was delicious a big portion so my wife and I shared it. It was very crispy on the outside and very tender and juicy on the inside. Everyone made us feel welcome and like family and we did not have to wait for any service. One of the waitress made us fresh coffee which was very good. All said and done the evening dinner only cost with tip twenty dollars great value. This is definitely a great neighborhood restaurant and we will be going back soon. read more

I went during lunch. I have never felt so out of place. I was the only minority in the place. So the stuck me in the corner. And simply forgot about me. If I wanted something I had go up front to get someone. I was so angry. I paid my bill which I though was way to high. Didn't leave a tip either. The service was lack there of. The lady who served us was top notch I think her name was Brandy we had 7 people at our table and there were at least 7 other full tables and she didn't miss a beat at our table and it looked as if she was doing just as well with the others as well as handling the phone calls she seemed to be the only one serving. She was fast attentive and got us everything we asked for this alone if the reason for a 5 star review now days the experience/service is just as important as the food. I expect 6 visits to my table 1 to great me 1 for ordering food 3 to check up on me and 1 for the check. She did more then that. Expectations exceeded. Not used to that or hearing Sir and Ma'am must be a southern Texas thing I could get used to that charm. I did not like anything about this restaurant. For starters the French fries were terrible. They were extremely greasy and soggy as if they just sat in warm oil instead of being fried, my fiancé and I could not even eat them. Furthermore I ordered my burger medium rare and then 5 minutes later the manager came and told me that medium is all they could do and that they could not have any pink inside.... No pink means well done not medium. Needless to say the burger was completely overdone, the patty had been cut into several times and was not good at all. I took one bite and left it. YUMMY!! Tracks offers a Mom and Pop type experience. This place is down to earth! Comfort food for sure. Nothing fancy about it just good food! Their bread and desserts come from Mom's Bakery (the owner's MOM!!). It came out perfectly round so I knew from the start it wasn't a home made chicken fried steak, prolly bought in bulk already battered. Went here the other day with my husband and we loved it! We ordered the appetizer sampler (fried pickles, cheese sticks & fried zucchini) which was delicious! I thought the cheese sticks were a little ordinary but hubby loved them. We both ordered cheese burgers and fries, which were out of this world! The buns are perfect, the meat is seasoned well and crisp from the grill. The fries were fresh cut and wonderfully seasoned. 5/5 we will be coming back again! read more

I had the mushroom burger and fries and it's that classic diner burger with a great taste and tons of fixings. Our first visit was today. Didn't start out very good waited almost 5 min. To get seated. This wouldn't have been a problem but my husband is disabled and has trouble walking. Had to find a waitress to seat us. I ordered the money cristo and was disappointed. No raspberry sauce and too much cheese. My husband had chicken fried steak. He got a roll but no butter. Had to ask. The steak tasted ok but kind of melted in your mouth. He questioned what kind of meat. He did get a second piece. Everything else was ok. Really great place to eat. One of my kids loves trains, so seeing a train driving around the restaurant made him happy. Food came out fast and the service we pretty good. Tater tots and fried pickles are really good. French fries are homemade style and still have skins. It's not my favorite style, I'm more of a crinkle fry guy. But they weren't disgusting.
