I visited on a Saturday evening for an early dinner with my parents and sister. (Side note for Dallas residents: If you're familiar with the Katy Trail, it's worth the drive to see where it all began. When the Katy railroad tracks were removed in Dallas, the trail was born. While Denison doesn't have a trail today, the original depot remains, and it's a lovely place to explore.) The atmosphere at Stafford House is calm and refined, with deep burgundy tones, and brown leather accents lending it a warm, intimate feel. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. We started with the steak carpaccio appetizer, which was savory and full of flavor. For dinner, the ladies each had the Airline chicken with mushroom risotto, while my father and I ordered the lamb T-bones. I swapped the vegetable medley for sweet potato grits, which were decent but lacked any noticeable sweet potato flavor. Definitely put Stafford House on your must-visit list. It's a beautiful little spot for a quiet, intimate dinner. And don't miss their adjacent bar--it's equally charming and perfect for a pre- or post-dinner cocktai

Called my daughter she had already arrived and said the gate was open when they got there. So guess who gets to open the gate in the rain? Me, in the rain and dressed in my new Easter attire. We were quickly seated, and presented with the Easter Brunch menu. A waitress came by and took our drink orders. She brought them and then we sat and waited and waited. No one knew who was taking care of our table. We finally placed our order and the food arrived at 11:53. The 12pm patrons started arriving. My son in laws order was wrong 3 times. So we didn't get to all eat together waiting on his correct order to arrive. We were apologized to profusely. The sweetest employee kept apologizing over and over. We came here last year for Easter and will probably return next year. The saving grace was the arrival of the Easter Bunny and the indoor Easter egg hunt. #DenisonTexas #GraysonCounty

Small interior offering 4 tables and a line up of bar stools. The kitchen and pantry are fully exposed. We were greeted by a gent opening the door for us and friendly hellos! The menu provides a wide selection of country fair with twists on cosmopolitan selections (the country bennie is a must). No pre-cut fries on site,! Everything looked and tastes freshly prepared. Will definitely make the trek again!

Inside, the atmosphere is small-town comfort at its best -- casual, welcoming, and the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home. I ordered the Chicken Bennie, and it was absolutely outstanding. A homemade biscuit served as the base, soft and fluffy on the inside with just the right touch of crisp on the outside. On top of that came perfectly fried chicken tenders, a runny egg that tied everything together, and a generous pour of rich, savory sausage gravy. It all came with a side of crispy fried potatoes that were cooked just right -- golden and flavorful without being greasy. Every bite was pure comfort food perfection. The coffee was smooth and satisfying, the kind that pairs perfectly with a hearty breakfast. Service was excellent as well -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell the staff really cares about their customers and their food. Overall, 1836 Café is exactly what you hope to find in a small-town spot: great food, great people, and an atmosphere that keeps you wanting to come back. I'll definitely be returning, and I highly recommend it to anyone passing through or nearby.

Every one was so happy and conversing at each table. As the orders arrived all around us , you could see the pleasure and anticipation on their faces. We saw several dishes that made it easy to make our menu selections. Our waitress guided us to spectacular choices. Started with chips and hot sauce. 7 layer dip appetizer was mouthwatering Veggie Quesadillas as main course Chicken Quesadillas too. Chicken Fried Steak with French fries and a side salad was exceptional. One anomaly is they don't have mashed potatoes!!! Weird They do offer a baked potato. Our waitress was so caring, knowledgeable, and talented. The atmosphere and vibe is everything you could hope for in a restaurant like this. One guy next to us eats here several times a week. Next visit will include one of their famous club sandwiches and a classic burger. It's located just off Highway 75 on Texoma Parkway I recommend you add this to your Must Try Soon list I guarantee you will love it and return quickly See you there!
