John the chef who makes the best damn turnip greens I've ever had happens to be THE Yoda of bourbons enlightened and directed me to a bourbon that may have changed my life. Weller 12 year is now the pinnacle of my beautiful brown nectar experience. I had to come back for dinner and met Dottie! Dottie saw my coworker and I with our iPads open and offered the Wifi password. She then regaled us with the history and story of the first days of bourbon. Visited today for lunch with family. Ate outside (COVID-19)...airy but with great fireplaces and heaters. Everyone masked and socially distant. Excellent service and food; we had burgers, chicken, a ham biscuit and their special 15-bean soup ...the soup was worth the drive all by itself! I really wanted to like this cute little restaurant in the train station. But too many shortcomings made that impossible. Although the venue is very cool, little things like a dirty dish rag stuck under a table leg to keep the table balanced was yucky. Our meal got off to a good start - a large glass of Pinot Gris and some delicious fried green tomatoes. Unfortunately the "sauce" for the tomatoes was ranch dressing. Something more creative would have made this dish outstanding. And, unfortunately they didn't have the Coors Light my husband ordered because "the truck comes tomorrow." For dinner, I ordered the special - 1/4 bbq chicken with corn pudding and a side salad. I asked for white meat. Our very nice waitress, April, returned to the table to say they didn't have white meat because "no one had put it out." Hmmm. My husband ordered the fried chicken. Dark meat. I changed my order to white meat fried chicken. Here came April: no white meat in the fried chicken either. I asked to see the menu again. Really? The chef didn't noticed at any point in the day that there was no white meat chicken? And the chef didn't try to find some? And the chef didn't bother to let the servers know that white chicken was off the menu? And 1/4 chicken was the special?! I don't get it. The mashed potatoes were good, the green beans were really good. The corn pudding had too little corn and too much eggy pudding. The couple at the table next to us asked for bread pudding to go with ice cream. Guess what? They were out of ice cream! read more

Atmosphere is fantastic. Everything else needs improvement and fast. The menu needs to be redone and the staff need to be retrained & dress coded. They definitely profile customers & if you aren't a regular or someone who looks like you can tip well they won't give you the time of day. Nice job trackside my claims in your homemade sauce was great! and chicken wings were better. I love the outside porch and music that was played while we eat was just right so we could still talk at our table. Each time i have come to eat, i got the special for the day or night and was good. The setting by the tracks is so neat and i have seen the train past twice. the old building is perfectly restored and makes a unique dining experience. We took a senior citizens group from the church. 21 people. They accommodated our every need with a smile. The service was attentive. The food came in generous portions, was well-presented and best of all it was well-prepared. The restored depot is wonderfully redone. It's a great venue for a restaurant. We have been to this establishment five times now. Call me silly, we like to support our local businesses. Four out of five time we have been there on various evenings, they are out of a dish we order. Our server comes back 10 minutes after we order to tell us they are out of what I ordered! I think someone needs to make sure they order properly, when you are open 6 days a week you should be able to order enough food to have on hand?? The owner is suppose to be an experienced resturantur, you think they would be able to order correctly? I'm not sure I want it go back, what will it be next time? read more

I love the atmosphere of trackside but the service and food are subpar and inconsistent. The last two times I have attempted to eat there we have been told they are no longer seating and it was during normal dining hours. When I have actually been seated we were served watered down drinks and had to wait long periods of time for mediocre food. I will not be trying to eat there again. read more

The atmosphere for a gathering of friends is excellent with a large amount of patio seating and outdoor gas fire pits. The waitresses were attentive as well. I ordered the $13 double burger and fries. I have to say that the fries were very sparse, ketchup even more sparse, and the burger was pathetically small and simple. Instead of a typical large sliced tomato, I found four half slices of cherry tomatoes. Typical of a quality burger, there would also be a full slice of an onion on the side. None. The overall burger was the size and quality of a Dairy Queen burger. Nothing wrong with a Dairy Queen burger, but at a higher end restaurant and price, one would expect a bit more. For gosh sakes, you are a higher end restaurant, charge the price you feel is fair, then deliver the quality. read more

What a delightful find! This restaurant is definitely worth the trip. We loved the ambience, but the food definitely took center stage. We ordered salads but every plate we saw looked delicious! I stopped in to get seating for my family as a walk before 6 pm looking around there were numerous empty tables both inside and outside of the restaurant. It looked to be only at 50% capacity. I had two different rude encounters from wait staff with bad attitudes in the five or less minutes I was there. I was told that the kitchen staff was way behind in orders and that I needed to have made a reservation. I am a local and have visited this place several times as a walk-in during peak times and never have been informed in the past visits that I needed to make reservations on a non-holiday weekend. The parking lots were already full with vehicles so I'm not sure where they expected any additional customers who apparently had made reservations in advance would park or how they would even get their meals before closing time at 8:30 since they were behind. Bottom line was that clearly didn't want to be bothered by me and my family. We had a great celebration meal at a different restaurant. read more

First time here. Had the fried green tomatoes with buttermilk dressing aka "fire roasted tomato jam???" Anyway, served very hot, but over fried. The crunchy bread was not flavored with any sort of spices. So... I had a bite of my Big's fried chicken. It looked better than my tomatoes...still not much flavor. I really want to like this place a lot! The server was sweet and kind. Overall everyone was very accommodating! Love the ambience! Nice added patio BUT- service was terrible - no one even in dining room. Long wait for food- nearly an hour!! At early dinner they were out of two appetizers! Loud blasting music- and a stupid tv on with news in dining area. Who the hell wants THAT distraction during and expensive dinner. Food not delivered to our table all at once. Our guests waited at least ten minutes fir theirs to arrive and by then mine was cold....Salad wilted and dressing warm - a bad start . A 21.00 fish dinner was sloppy and drenched in oil and poorly placed and the fish was not fresh. The potato meal was a bunch of slop on a plate with a salty sauce Awful . We will never return. Adorable local spot! This lovely little restaurant was a treat to visit, not only for the historic aspect but the food was good too! Staff were very friendly and accommodating to our table of nine. The decor is comfortable and inviting with sturdy wooden tables and adorable blue plaid bench booths - almost like being in someone's large country home. We ordered a few orders of the fried pickles to start. They were perfectly breaded and fried, not too heavy or greasy, slightly salty and served with a horseradish dipping sauce. Delicious! For my entree, I ordered the filet mignon at medium rare. The steak was cooked perfectly with a slight sear to the outside. The meat was exceptional and the quality of my baked potato was no exception. And I took an ample portion home with me for leftovers. I also had the opportunity to taste a piece of the fried chicken entree and it too was delicious and fried perfectly. Others at the table ordered the scallops and they too were quite happy with their selection. I've heard others talk about this restaurant so i made a reservation for a Friday evening and ventured to Paris. With the COVID restrictions we had to accept seating outside which was fine. The flies were a nuisance at our table. Was so hoping the owners could provided a little better mitigation for the pests. We ordered banana peppers and fried green tomatoes for appetizers. Great breading and served very hot. Wasn't disappointed. My wife and I decided to split the chicken dinner. 3 pieces included 2 wings and a breast. Would think you could serve 1 wing, thigh and breast. Potatoes and green beans were very good. Over-all the chicken dinner was good but it wasn't any different than a Cracker Barrel chicken dinner. I understand that plates can't be used so everything was served in disposable containers. HATE PANDEMICS! Overall the experience was average. Also, they allow smoking in the outside seating which would generally be fine unless someone next to you is smoking. I wouldn't drive out of my way to eat here. Wait staff was excellent! Very attentive. Perhaps I will try sometime for lunch if I'm back in Paris. read more

Beautiful restaurant. Good food at good prices. This restaurant hits the trifecta. Kids will love sitting in the ticket booth. The decor is very cozy with beautiful photos of Kentucky on the walls. We were New Jerseyans fulfilling my mother-in-law's bucket list item of seeing the horse farms of Lexington. We wanted to enjoy a late lunch outside and I was a little nervous that Paris may not have what we want and we would have to retrace our steps back to Lexington. But Trackside did not disappointment!! Food was delicious and portions were generous; my mother-in-law and I both have southern roots and the food brought us back to our childhoods and our gramma's cooking. The real gem was our waiter, Taylor, who gave us excellent service and was a phenomenal bartender. First time customer, in regards to the ambiance (very nice). However food selection and quality is a bad review. The past reviews on here show a lot more variety of menu items. However when we were there it was a very small menu, not many options. And when we received our food (7 of us). It was very plain, no seasoning, and definitely not worth the prices. They messed up on my sons prime rib, and it was as rare as you can get. Not what he requested. The cook came out to see it, as if we were lying? Than the manager came over to verify. Very very strange. All 3, waitress, cook and manager clearly saw it was raw and rare. They suggested to make another one. The second one was fine. Definitely not top notch quality at all. Those of you who read my post know I'm all about having a great time. My reviews (I like to think) are always very long but impartial as to things out of a restaurant's control and focus on things that the restaurant the ability to handle. For instance I'm not going to dock points at a location because they are too busy and I had to wait but if I see wait staff standing around while tables are ready to empty and reseat then I have issues. So tonight the wife and I decided to try Trackside. As locals and a foodie myself I waited for the initial surge to quiet down, allowed to wait staff to get up to speed, let the place kinda find its groove. So tonight was the big night and I wish I could say ANYTHING was good. I so wanted a good restaurant in town but this just won't do. So... let's begin. Now I usually let the wait staff choose my whole dining menu because who knows what good and what's not better than the people who have to take it back. However after looking at the staff I decided it was better to change the norm and do it myself. The staff was completely bumfuzzled. People double covering tables, food going to wrong tables, some tables sitting waiting on drinks long after others got their food. It was chaos and they just opened and weren't busy or full. This my friends should have been the omen to leave. Now I have followed them on Facebook and their latest "specialty" was pecan smoke chicken wings with bourbon infused sauce. So that was our beginning. When the wings came out they were NUCLEAR hot. To say they were fresh out of the fryer and dipped in a rapid boiling sauce was an understatement. After 15 mins of letting them cool I finally got my first sample of their latest creation. It was horrible. The wings that "smoked in pecan" were fried done and all the juicy smoke flavor you worked so hard for is cooked out by the fryer. I've never had a smoke meat where you can literally see the smoke ring but only taste a crunchy fried wing. Now for the sauce it was even worse. It was a mixture of bourbon and soy sauce. Basically you got a mouth full of sodium with a distant hint of some flavor. The sodium was so potent your lips literally began to draw up and dry out. I really wish I was exaggerating (I'm chugging water as I type this review). The sauce was a complete failure. It had no flavor..... NONE. I don't know how brown sticky goo was salty and only salty. There was no hint of garlic, onion, of any type of flavor at all. For the main courses I chose the lamb shank while the wife had the catfish. Both were on the specialty menu both were more of the same. Her catfish was the normal frozen purchased off the assembly line mass produced fillets of blah. 2 fillet nuggets fried so crisp they snapped like a cracker. Her baked potato was so dry she couldn't put enough butter and sour cream to even begin to soften the brown boulder they called a potato. Her other side was their mixed greens. Finally something that got halfway right... they tasted like opened the cans and dumped it in the pot. Edible which was sadly one of the only highlights. As for my lamb. Let's not go there. It was disgusting. Cooked perfectly to the correct toughness dropped on an entire plate of grits that tasted like wallpaper paste and had the same consistency. As for the roasted vegetables as the side that's it. They were roasted. No seasoning.... nothing. To give you an idea this conversation actually happened at dinner. As I was complaining constantly she got frustrated and said it couldn't be that bad. She picked up her fork and stabbed an onion with some of the grits. When she took the bite she literally said to me "Is this what it should taste like?" EVERYTHING we had was bad. Yes other people praise the Hot Brown. Ok big deal its turkey, ham, bread, cheese, and bacon. My 8yr old can make that. People love the steak but you can't mess it up. Take meat, put it on the grill, then... don't burn it. Not rocket science. Buy good meat get good steak. The makings of a good restaurant is the thinks you have to MAKE. Things that take time and knowledge. Opening cans and cooking plates of dismal gruel will not work. Well maybe in Paris it will. People still eat at Jerry's. read more
