We called ahead and were told the kitchen closes at 2:30 PM and to "get there soon." We hustled over, driving 30 minutes from our Airbnb, and arrived at 2:26 PM. We watched as the manager, who clearly saw us walk in, helped other customers while we patiently waited. When we finally approached, a server quickly turned us away, saying the kitchen was closed -- it was 2:32 PM. We asked to speak to the manager, only to find out it was the very same person who had acknowledged us earlier and said nothing. His response? There was a bingo game going on and all the tvs had different vibes going on. They had darts and pool, lots of tables. I love trackside tavern. They have great vegan options, and the drinks are always great. I love this bar, so while I'm in town I invited 12 friends to meet me there. I want to support businesses that I care about. My issue is a bartender named Natalie. Natalie was incredibly rude to my friends and me. First I politely said "excuse me, ma'am. Could I order a drink?" She looked at me and turned around. Then she proceeded to serve four other patrons that came to the bar after I did. My friend came up and tried. He smiled, said "excuse me ma'am". She was passing right by us, so she was no more than two feet away behind the bar. She snaps at my friend, holds up a single finger to tell him to wait. We were both in shock and how incredibly rude she was. She then serves another two patrons that came to the bar after we'd been waiting. I was told she has a reputation for her rude nature by other patrons that frequent this bar. If that's the case then why is she still employed? I won't be returning. You go to a bar like trackside for positive energy, good food, and laughs. Not to be blatantly disrespected and disregarded. There's enough negativity in the world. We lived behind Trackside for 13 years and ordered to go and ate there several times a month. Prior to that it was my late night go to with restaurant industry friends. We've since moved OTP and haven't been in for a year or two, and after being so excited to return, what a disappointment. Menu is a shell of its former self and about half the size. The fries that I have told anyone who would listen to me how amazing they are have been replaced, and the lady behind the bar can be described as nothing but rude. Probably won't be back at this point, as the friendly staff behind the bar and great food seem to be gone. The one food highlight was the wings. They were on point. Ambiance is still the same, but I do miss the original space before the fire that I fell in love with when I first started frequenting there 20 years ago. read more

The bartender Thursday night is a sweetheart. Took care of me and my guy. The patrons are friendly and this is cheers but not as preppy. The vibe, decor and everything around screams dive. Which I love but if your not comfortable with will be hard to swallow as they clearly are in their comfort zone. The only lost star is the mediocre food. Cool little hole in the wall with killer bar food!! Was in from out of town and everyone was super friendly

Stumbled across Trackside Tavern after being recommended to come here on a Sunday (when bars were closing before or by midnight across ATL) by a local bartender. I was happy we came here as there was 1) delicious and a variety of food, 2) plenty of space to hang, play pool, watch tv, and drink, and 3) a huge selection of draft beers and craft cocktails to have while you hang out. Outside area, in the back, was a chill spot too and a great way to meet locals and people who are hanging out. I ordered wings after midnight and they were delicious! My friends had a burger and fries and that slammed too. Definitely look at the board at the entrance for any specials on food and/or drinks. There are 2 sides of the bar so don't be shy and feel free to order your drinks or food on the other side if it is too crowded for you near the front. There is plenty of seating (booths) on the other side as well and is spacious. Loved that even though there were plenty of people hanging out and drinking that it never felt crowded. Definitely a spot to go to even if all other places are open and bumping. This is a cool dive! read more

8:15pm 2/10/2023 My fiancé and I have been coming to trackside tavern for quite a while now, tonight was the first night we were denied service. We walked in and sat ourselves at the right side of the bar after about 10 mins the bartender approached us and very rudely asked for our ids, no biggie maybe she's having a rough night. We politely pulled out our ids in our wallet to show her. She rudely again said pull out your ids.. sitting here puzzled because our id are right in front of her, she proceeds to say take your id out of your wallet. Which also is not a problem, but the way she is speaking to us like we did something to her is just unacceptable. So I said to her that's not a problem at all, but I've never been asked to do that before and I come here often. She checks our ids then throws her hands up in the air and with an attitude walks away to the other side of the bar to take other customers order. I watch her continue to take and make orders around the bar, after she finishes she approaches us again and said what do y'all want? .... At this point I'm beside myself. I've never experienced this kind of treatment at this establishment. My fiancé asked her, are you ok? Are you just having a rough night? And she says to us "this isn't going to work out, y'all need to find somewhere else to go, I'm not serving y'all" Im sure if we were profiled because we are young or because we are black. Im not sure but this was completely unacceptable and extremely unethical. We are paying customers that come almost ever other week. For the nachos and smoked wings. I've never been treated this way at any establishment especially in Decatur where I was born and raised. We have been here casually seating at the bar for the last hour while being denied service while she throws back shots back to back. I wouldn't recommend this as a bad establishment but if this lady is working I would turn around. I honestly can't believe we were just treated like we were in a whites only bar in 2023. Not sure if she is just having a bad night or what the case may . I've been coming to trackside on and off every time I live in the area. It is my favorite bar mostly because it's a friendly vibe with bartenders and customers, and it's great drink prices. I always meet someone new when I go to this joint. Lately I've been taking the pups to the outdoor patio. You can get drinks outside, but because they allow smoking, you can't take food outside. That's Decatur law. But it really sucks, it's the only reason I can give it 5 stars otherwise. Josh has been my bartender primarily, and he is great at remembering drinks and what the food and drink specials are to help you make a choice. They have fun shot options, and a great beer selection, which changes routinely. This bar can be one for you to go to every week because you dig the people, and because you can change up your order! The food is great here! For bar food, I would say it's one of my favorites. I love the mozzarella sticks, and the nachos! It's great portions for the price. I've also tried the wings and they were great as well! There's parking in the back - or it's an easy walk from the square and away from the chaos if you need a break from the square! read more

Nearly walked out. Wish we had. I live in the neighborhood and my friend and I checked it out on a Sunday night. It was pretty dead, with all customers at the bar. The bar is literally split in two that are mirror images, where bartenders can walk to either side, but there are registers and drinks on either side. We waited about 20 minutes and watched the bartenders pass us many times. We were chatting and catching up, so it wasn't that noticeable to us at first, but definitely there was no welcome when we sat down. After a while, I asked my friend if they were still open because we had been waiting so long. The bartenders walked past us so often, but they did not look over at us or make eye contact, like they wanted us to leave. When people ignore you, they are usually telling you that they don't want to interact with you. Our catch up session ended and we started watching the two bartenders, trying to make eye contact. It's a small place with very few people there, so it probably was more effort for them to ignore us than to just get us some beers. The bar was all old white guys, mixed with some younger white guys. One of the bartenders, actively ignoring us, signed a guy at the bar's cast, which reminded me of grade school. We finally got drinks, but I was STEAMING mad. If I was not with my friend, I would have said something, but I didn't. At that time. Later, I notice that there is a guy next to me with take out. He has his take out and his credit card out. He looks sad. I ask him, "Are they ignoring you?" He says that he has been there for 10 minutes, the bartenders are walking around him, having conversations with others in front of his face, ignoring him, and he's still there. I tell him he should just leave and the service is ridiculous. I'll vouch for the guy. He's been there so long at this point, I think one could arguable reason that they just forgot if they paid or not. The bartender comes around again, and the take out guy, (a big gorgeous African American man who had no ring single Atlanta ladies btw) asks if he can pay. The bartender says, "What makes you think that you can't pay?" WOW They start yelling at each other now, like parent and child. It was both fantastic and awful at the same time. The bartender tells the customer that there are 40 people at the bar he has to take care of (this is not true, there were like 10 and he wasn't taking care of anyone, just seemingly tweaking running around and talking but doing nothing). Then the bartender says he isn't even on the clock, like he's doing this guy a favor Beautiful customer points out that no one is at the bar anymore. "The way you are talking is making people leave. Look! There is no one here!" I looked down our side of the bar, and the 3 people (which was everyone) at the bar had disappeared. The guy pays and leaves. It's like a victory. I clap for him in my head. We then are asked if we want another beer. Surprising! A minute later the other bartender asks if we want anything. Now we don't. It was bizarre. Will never ever ever return. Which seems to be what they wanted in the first place. read more

Trackside is like going to Family Den, Reynolds, or Dating Game in Chicago without the smell, lol. They also got Pool Tables, Air Hockey, and Darts. The drinks are solid. The food is hit or miss. Sometimes the food is AWESOME with a capital. Other times its overcooked, dry, and way too salty. The bartenders are split between the most awesome sweeties like Chris, and the last shift crew who are nothing but racist assholes waiting on the south to rise again where women live the reality of the Handmaid's Tale and won't serve anybody not white and male a drink. But it stays open late. Sometimes people get into fights in the parking lot. Some have been robbed in the past. An occasional car crash happens at the light. The Latino security will target anybody not white and male for an ID check on Thursday to Sunday nights. So came in here for the first time on a Friday night and I ordered a Milagro Tequila with soda water and my partner ordered a cider. She received a "sour" (which is beer) and I was charged $15 for 1 (ONE) shot of milagro. My receipt read casa... now I'm no fool.. casa? Casamigos???? I did not drink nor did I order casamigos. The bartender a short older woman with a short bob type cut was the one who told me it is $15 a shot for the respasado milagro. The whole bottle cost $30. So I'm not stupid. I didn't feel like arguing because I have the funds my issue is the incompetence of the staff or more decidedly this one staff member. Either way will not be returning for the sh*tty service and the lies. What ever the issue is they had with us I'm not sure (gay/lesbian , black, idk) but I will not be spending my hard earned money with this place again. Trackside is what is is. I really have fun here. Bartenders are laid back but yet attentive. (No table service) Food does what it's supposed to do. Drinks are good. Crowd is friendly.. Im pretty young but am used to paying $8+ for drinks plus tips. This place has a good deal for $3 tall boys so im happy to throw on a larger tip. Unfortunately its very hard to tip bartenders who actively ignore you and only serve people they know/ people older than you. It pissed me off to see a bartender go down the line then skip me and my friends and start at the other end of the bar. Took me 10 minutes to order every round of drinks then probably 15 minutes to close out. People would walk up to the bar and within a minute be served while we still waited. Seriously go to other bars- brickstore is always friendly and will never waste your time plus they have an amazing selection. Questioned a pour last night. So basically i asked for a double rosé. From previous experiences the doubles were always served to me in a tall glass. My GF used to serve and she told me that a standard pour is usually 4.5 oz, so I expected a double to be 9 oz. From a quick eye test, it looked to be about 6 or less. The moment i asked "Is this a double?" The bartender immediately got defensive and said "I KNOW HOW TO POUR WINE!" When I expressed my concerned to another patron, she kicked me out for being an "irate" customer, and even went so far as to call the police (over wine!) . She cursed at me saying "Get the fuck outta my bar!" Just because I questioned her pour. She was totally disrespectful and tried to weaponize the police against me. I tried to remain respectful but after she and her coworker were adamant about kicking me out, i reciprocated the disrespect by saying to her "Don't talk to me like that! Im a grown ass man!" We went back and forth for a few minutes about us being grown. She was very unprofessional and i believe she was racist. I really want to like Trackside. Great drinks, convenient location. But I can't get past the attitude of last night's bartenders. My friend was attempting to pay her tab. There was some confusion about which card she'd left. (She accidentally used her card that had her fiancé's name). They obviously couldn't find it. She gave a detailed description of the unique looking card. I saw it when bartender was looking through the cards and I spoke up. He looked at me, put card back and said he couldn't find it. Benefit of doubt. Maybe he didn't hear me. We told him what she ordered. Maybe he could find card that way. Nope. She's frustrated and embarrassed, he's understandably annoyed. The manager helps out and is eventually able to figure out that the tab wasn't under my friend's name. Before she could say anything, the manager slams the card and pen down and yells to the bar tender "she apologizes for causing SO MUCH TROUBLE." Then the bartender sarcastically says "thank you sooooo much for your apology." Note that she was trying to apologize but wasn't able to get a word in edgewise. They both go back and forth berating her. I understand their frustration , but what my years in F&B taught me, when 1st handed a card, you say "thank you mr/ms _____." That's the first check of having the correct name. Then if there's trouble finding card, you ask if it could be under another name. If he'd done that after I pointed out which card was hers, the whole ordeal could've been avoided. I've never witnessed bartenders ganging up on a customer like that before. Especially one who was calm and legitimately confused. A couple people at the bar told us this was the norm. After reading some of the reviews, I believe them. We came here around 9-ish on Friday evening, and there were only a few customers. We placed our drink orders at the bar. (NOTE: YOU CAN ONLY ORDER AT THE BAR. THERE IS NO TABLE SERVICE.) The bartender was friendly and promptly served us our beers. We asked for menus and ordered fried okra, fried green beans, hush puppies, teriyaki wings, and hot wings. We chose a seat and our food came out pretty quickly. I didn't care for the hush puppies and okra as much as the green beans. They were addictive and a little spicy. The wings looked like they were cooked in a crockpot and put into a broiler to crisp. They were sizeable and good. By the time we left, the bar was hopping, and people were playing pool and darts. Who doesn't love trackside? It's the dive bar that you have a memorable story from even if you've only gone once. You have darts, you have pool, you have dim lighting, you have greasy food. There isn't any table service but it's good for all of us to get up and walk the 5 steps to the bar sometimes, working off those beer calories. Great prices, friendly staff, and great memories fill the building. They sell really cool local art on the walls! At first I wasn't very impressed with Trackside. It just seemed like your average local bar with a few pool tables and dart boards. But after a couple of visits, then actually eating a meal there, I've changed my mind. I like the service there, from the humorous bartenders to the snarky cooks that bring your food. Their wings were definitely hot (though I am a wuss when it comes to heat), but my favorite dish so far is the massive plate of fried zucchini spears (only $3!). The bartender Chris is a douche.... I came in on a Tuesday with a friend and from the very beginning anytime I asked for anything he would give me a side eye and a very sarcastic "sure, no problem" I laughed it off multiple times because I know how assumptions can be made.... I ordered 2 shots, and Chris seemed annoyed because I evened out the shots between my friend and I. He assumed we were upset because the shots were uneven but in all actuality I only evened them out because my friend doesn't take shots!!!!!! I wanted his extra liquor so I poured it in my glass!! He then rudely explained under his breath that he'd over poured us that's why there was a discrepancy in the shots EVEN THOUGH WE NEVER COMPLAINED OR SAID ANYTHING. He just assumed. We went on to try and explain there was no issue and again he rudely gave us a very sarcastic "sure, no problem" the night progressed and we are 4-5 shots in. We asked for another round and he brought us the check...... WE ASKED FOR ANOTHER ROUND. As I'm talking to my friend I tell him " regardless of the service I'm a good tipper" Chris then comes over and tells us he heard what I said and he heard that I would now only tip him 15%. I NEVER SAID THIS!!!!! I went on to tell him he heard wrong but AGAIN he rudely gave us a very sarcastic "sure, no problem" Chris completely ignored us from this moment on however my friend and i decided to continue to enjoy the night. We paid for our check and I politely wrote "I would never say that I wouldn't ever tip 15% :)" on the check but then Chris picked up the check, read it, and then proceeded to laugh hysterically and tossed it in the trash.......Even still, having gone through what we witnessed we still decided to patronize....so now I'm Obviously upset and speaking to my friend about how were being treated but Chris decides that I'm not allowed to be upset with his treatment of me and my friend (Who are the only black people in the bar by the way) And proceeded to take our unfinished drinks and ask us to leave while he called the cops. I asked for a manager HE REFUSED TO GET THE MANAGER. Instead he threatened us Even though we had done nothing but sit at the bar and pay our check. Two other employees surrounded us and began to harass us even though we were literally just sitting at the bar finishing our drinks (well a drink because Chris refused to give my friend back his unfinished drink that we paid for) Chris asked us to leave because he would not acknowledge that he was being racist and prejudice. He accused me and my friend and I of saying and doing things that we did not do. When we tried to explain to him that we did not do these things he was very dismissive and rude. His way of rectifying the situation was to ask us (The only black people in the bar) To leave, and embarrass us, all because he could not apologize for assuming we were upset. We were drinking Jagër!!! Who's upset when you're drinking Jagër????!!!! not to mention we STILL paid our $95 check and tipped him a $20 bill on top of the bullshit :) I'm not one to believe the hype but this bar caters to the Caucasian crowd and that's OK if that's your demographic, but I've been here twice and myself included I've witnessed the only African-Americans in the establishment treated hostly. I think Trackside is my new favorite bar. After a mildly dissatifsying bar hopping experience this weekend at all our regular haunts, I found Trackside a dark, divey haven. Of course it was Monday night and very quiet. Just what we were looking for. We wanted to watch the football game and not be blasted out of the bar by noise. (I know, football fans who don't want to be loud and crazy...bizarre.) Trackside was calm, the TV was big, the beer selection great (Boddington's and your cheapo PBR), and the food was really quite good. We had olive bites and roquefort burgers...Both were fantastic. The burgers rivaled nearby Thinking Man's and Twain's...The beef itself was really good, and cooked perfectly to medium rare. The jukebox as well suited us ( a great mix of country, eighties, punk rock, classic rock), and the cook who was singing along horribly offkey in the background only made us smile more. This is what a bar is. Big booths, pool tables, a wooden bar. Low lighting. Good Beer. Good Food. No attitude. I will be back. Plus the train going by outside made me happy. read more
