My old stylist has decided on a new career path, and it's always scary to find someone new. Collin was great about listening to my concerns about my hair, and delivered a cute fresh style and styling tips I can duplicate at home easily. Getting an appointment was easy, and everyone at the salon was friendly and kind. It's so conveniently located and if you go on a weekend you kind of have to stop by the Eastern Market booths, which is a bonus in my book!

She did a great job on the bleaching and it's not damaged at all. The main gripe I have is that the dye she put on top washed out after one wash with purple shampoo, something that had never happened to me before when I had gotten my hair balayaged elsewhere in the past (nor when I'd gotten it toned every two months). She'd recommended using overtone conditioner--unfortunately, the silver overtone conditioner did nothing except give my hair a green twinge (looks a lot like hay currently.) When I panicked and told Doan about this she was kind and offered me useful advice--clarifying shampoo, which I hadn't thought about--and relayed the brand of dye she used so I wouldn't have an alternative salon use it on me in the future. Sadly, only two weeks after getting my hair done I'm going to have to go somewhere else to get it fixed, hence the three stars. :(

I decided that it's finally time to make a review of my experience. My appointment was with Eunice. I had done a ton of research about where to trust my hair now that a former stylist of mine stopped cutting hair for a living. She recommended this salon. After reading all the stylists instagrams I decided on Eunice. I arrived on time and was seated in her chair. She had the worst attitude and demeanor as soon as I sat down. She asked me about my hair routine and I told her I used Keratase hair oil as a finishing product and she scoffed at me and said "you put hair oil on dry hair?" like I was some sort of idiot. "Um, yes, this is common," I thought. But I was so shocked I just smiled. Then we were talking about what kind of cut I wanted and I asked her if she had any suggestions and she literally said "no, that is up to you." This woman was literally charging 125 for haircuts and would not give me any suggestions. I totally regretted making this appointment at that point but I thought it was too late, and didn't want to be rude (I think I was the only one). I ended up getting a cut that was fine, and when she blowdried it she made no effort to style it. Simply dried, no real volume, nothing. The whole experience was 45 minutes start to finish. It was a haircut I probably could have gotten for half the price elsewhere without the horrible attitude. When I went to checkout, it is the only hair stylist EVER that I did not tip. 125 for the cut was already too much (and I've paid more for haircuts). I think she charges more now. Perhaps the other stylists here are better but I have no interest in going back to a salon where this type of behavior is ok (based on my reading of reviews, I am not an isolated case).

I came in for my usual gray coverage, and they did a GREAT job with the color. Unfortunately, the haircut was a very different experience. I showed the stylist a reference photo of my usual longer, layered cut. She said she wanted to even out my hair, which sounded completely reasonable, but she removed several inches without confirming how much length I was comfortable losing. I left with a short, rounded, mushroom-shaped bob that looked nothing like the reference and made my face look much rounder than I wanted. I was so mortified that I took a photo outside and sent it to my longtime stylist in Southern California, who replied, "whoa." I'm leaving three stars because the staff and atmosphere were lovely and the color was excellent. But I really hope the salon encourages clearer communication before making a major change in length. In the meantime, I'll be wearing a ponytail until it grows out.

After trying for over 3 weeks to get on her schedule for a 2nd color follow up I finally got an appointment. When I sat down we had a discussion and Jessica asked me if i wanted my roots or whole head dyed. Jessica told me on my FIRST visit I'd only have to get my roots touched up moving forward but she has never dyed only my roots. Everytime she has dyed my entire hair. So I asked her why she keeps doing that because it's not what we discussed initially, she said that she has to do that in order to match the color or she can just try to guess the color my ends were and try to match my roots to the ends. I said ok just do the whole head. She immediately said well I only have time to do the roots. I asked her why she gave me an option if she knew she didn't have time then I just immediately agreed to her doing just the roots even though she was going to guess the color. She stepped away for 15mins after combing out my naturally curly hair with a PADDLE brush. When she returned she said she was uncomfortable doing my hair today because our conversation was too much for her- she did almost ALL of the talking, there were no vulgar or derogatory words exchanged, no one yelled or screamed. We literally had a calm flat conversation. She didn't even brush my hair back into the bun it was in when I came in. I had to put it back up myself even tho I came in curly and she combed out all my curls. I stepped outside and came back inside and asked her when she could do my hair and she told me I need to find someone else. I called the salon and asked for the color she just had to have written down at some pint in my multiple appointments with her so I could find someone else to do it since she refused to do my hair- they put me on hold for 18mins then hung up on me. I called for the salon manager of course they put me on hold and hung up on me AGAIN.

I have lived on the hill for a few years and have been to Tracy and Co. four times. Each time, I have gotten a stylish, flattering, and extremely affordable haircut. The stylists at Tracy's are all talented, friendly, and willing to listen. I've bounced around to three different stylists there and each has been really great. Today, however, I got a haircut at Tracy's that was so great that I had to break my No-Yelp-Reviews-Ever Rule. This haircut and style was absolutely terrific. My stylist, Cherrell, was fantastic. I went in just wanting a trim and a bang fix-up and came out looking like a million bucks. I'm talking about right off a magazine cover. While talking about what cut I wanted, I mentioned that I had an event to go to that night so Cherrell took the time to style my hair after my terrific, multi-layered cut at no extra cost. I have never seen a flat iron make hair look so curly and sexy. My event went great, I looked fabulous, and I have never been happier after visiting a salon at the last minute. In short, the reservation book is often open (I booked my appt the day of), the staff is easy-going, friendly, and really fantastic at style execution, and the price is unbeatable ($55 for a cut). Try Cherrell, she is my new standby and I would highly recommend her!! read more

Hellllllooooooo Tracy & Company! I have been getting my hair done by Tracy and Touria as long as I can remember. Touria's color is always original and amazing! I love it every time as well as Tracy's cuts. I have done everything from the pixie cut to pretty long with layers right now. Every time I leave I feel so much prettier and more confident than when I walked in. The atmosphere at Tracy & Company is very laid back. I have 3 little boys, that to some can be a lil overwhelming at times, but they are always just as welcome as me here. They all 3 have very different hair and get different styles and they too leave looking very handsome and cool. I recommend Tracy & Company to all men, woman and children any day! They are all great stylists with an up to date salon which will be doing nails and skin care within the next couple of weeks! I can't wait to go and spend a day there being pampered all day! I have gotten my haircut from Tracy for many years now and had my hair colored by both her and Touria. I am 26, and even as a teenager was always given compliments on my stylish hair and amazing color. I have never been disappointed once with the end result from their work. Touria also has magic hands when she shampoos your hair... Making the whole experience at the salon even more relaxing. Tracy & Company is acute little shop in an adorable neighborhood. The company is great, everyone I so welcoming and friendly- it's easy to become part of the conversation. Thy offer a great service and are expanding the business to include Mani/pedi's and facials! Hello My review is based on 15 years working in the beauty business representing high end hair care products to the top salons in Southern California. I met Touria in eastern market while i was shopping. When you are ready to change your look Tracy and company is the place sit down and let her work her magic hint, best to trust her eye rather then tell her what to do. My hair until recently was my favorite trait until it suddenly began shedding due to health challenges and stress?? It is much easier to work with a thick head of hair, but ladies Touria cut my hair disguising the missing section. I left the salon feeling pretty. Touria cuts are a brezze to maintain and tend to look great sometimes better a few weeks later. I am loyal fan and would follow Touria to any salon without a thought she is the BEST! read more

I went there a few weeks ago and am thrilled to pieces!!! After getting a succession of horrible haircuts since moving to DC two years ago, I finally got one that was exactly what I wanted-with a few tweeks that Tracy suggested and she was right-on. I waited a few weeks to see how it would grow out and it still looks great, a sign of a good haircut! What was also wonderful is that I was not hassled to buy product. I have more junk hair products from other DC salons because all the stylists did was push product while doing my hair. When I mentioned other things that would cost, Tracy was candid with me and told me that I really didn't need all that-how refreshing!!!!! I loooove Tracy - I called in last night just to see if there was a chance they could take me in, and I took today's first appointment at 1030... just to find out there had been some miscommunication and nobody had told her I was coming in! But there she was, only a few minutes late, and gosh was it worth the wait! My hair looks fabulous! She did a great job fixing my poor mane (my last haircut was a total tragedy) and I left the place feeling amazing! Went to grab some tea across the street after that and three different people complimented my do. Can I say anything else? And she is super nice and sweet. Well, everybody in there is. I have followed Tracy all over Capitol Hill for more than 20 years. She is the most talented, creative, compassionate hair stylist I've ever encountered. Tracy has always created fabulous, flattering, personal styles that suit my hair and my face and my routine and my age. She's helped me to experiment. She's rescued me when I've lapsed and let her fabulous cuts grow out to disasters. When I walked in Tracy&Co, I did not expect to be treated with such care. The hair stylist Touria introduced me to the brazilian keratine.I have been trying everything and nothing seemed to work till I tried what Touria recommended. This is my very first review of a business but I just had to let all of you know that Tracy & Co. is the best salon in Washington, DC. The best mani/pedi done by Nina and the best hair stylist is Tracy. Actually, all of the other stylists are also very good. Who ever you see will do an incredible job. Well worth changing your salon! I promise you won't be disappointed. When I arrive I look okay, just average, but, when I leave the salon, I look and feel like a million bucks. I went to Tracy & Co. for the first time to get a color and cut. My hair was damaged and horribly stained by constant coloring (my own). I had hoped to walk out with a good cut and color, but I didn't get that. WHAT I GOT WAS THE BEST EVER CUT AND COLOR OF MY LIFE. When I left, I felt like a new woman. TRACY IS A MIRACLE WORKER!!!! I've been looking for a new place to get my hair cut and found Tracy & Company on Yelp. Based on the positive reviews, I took a chance, made a call and scheduled an appointment with Marsha. I was embarrassed at how long it had been since my hair was last cut, but Marsha made me feel comfortable about it. She examined my hair before starting and I felt confident she would do a good job. I've been going to her for years now for both cut and color and since I get bored easily have gone from blond to brown to redhead--all flawlessly. I called to see if I could do a same day appointment and they were so flexible! I was able to schedule one two hours out from when I called. I did arrive early as I did not want to take the metro and instead drove. You have to keep an eye out for parking. Just keep your travel time in consideration when visiting the area. The salon is on the second floor and is quite easy to find. I had Yvonne give me a haircut and she was so quick with the process. My cut was pretty simple and I just wanted several inches shorter with long curtain bangs. I had it styled at the end too! Not to mention, I was given a deep conditioning treatment. I'm not sure how much that costs but for all the services I received it came out to a decent price ($125). PS there's a store mascot here (some doggos) so just keep that into consideration if you have allergies. I'm sure if you have your dog with you this business is pet friendly.

I've been coming to this salon for a while now and I have to say I always feel taken care of. I've come to trust Dean at this salon and now I don't want anyone else touching my hair. He's done multiple different cuts at various lengths and most recently he has colored my hair (I used to be a very dark brunette and now I'm like a honey blonde). It's now gotten to the point where I trust his judgment every time I visit and, if he has a suggestion, I tell him to go for it. It's worth noting that this salon is incredibly LGBTQ+ friendly and I've noticed over multiple visits that the staff works tirelessly to make people feel welcome here. If that's something that's important to you, then this is a really good option. I will say the time and care does mean you're paying for quality, so if you're looking for a $10 haircut, maybe somewhere else is the move for you.

Her hair looked great, so I decided to give it a go and booked an appointment with the same person. I was skeptical that enough time had been allotted for my appointment, so I called to ask if I needed to come earlier or more time needed to be set aside, but they assured my my stylist was experienced and someone else could always dry my hair if needed (which was totally fine with me). The stylist and I had a conversation about what I wanted my hair to look like (really just a touch up, partial foil, not too cool) and then he got to work. They put me under the dryer while my hair processed, which no one had ever done before. I assume to speed things up? As predicted, my stylist ran out of time, so another stylist had to dry my hair. As she began drying the front pieces, I realized that my hair was not looking as I had hoped. It was WAY too cool-toned (platinum) for my skin tone, and there was a harsh line about a quarter in from my scalp. It was blended beautifully from side-to-side, with no stripiness whatsoever, but it looked like it had already grown out and I hadn't even left yet. The stylist who was drying my hair was extremely kind and understanding, and ended up putting a toner on it to help blend the roots. My hair ended up being darker than I would normally prefer (we swung from one end to the other!) but at least it didn't look terrible and would hopefully grow out okay. The manager was also very nice and understanding, and she (1) did not charge me for any of the extra services, (2) took a bit off my total, and (3) gave me several sample products. They did the best they could. I considered going back and seeing the stylist who attempted to fix my hair, as she would have really understood what I was looking for and seemed competent, but I was embarrassed to run into my original stylist again, particularly as he was the owner of the salon. I ended up going somewhere else just six weeks later (which is WAY sooner than I normally go--I'm a 3-4x a year person, but it had grown out pretty bad already), and was much happier with their results.

I have very bleached blonde hair and it's extremely dry and prone to a lot of breakage. No matter what products I use on my hair it never feels like it penetrates the hair shaft so I'm left with dry brittle hair every day. They were able to determine the custom booster treatment based on a quick evaluation of my hair which was applied after shampooing. Then they put me under a vacuum steamer for 15 minutes which was warm except for the last 2 minutes it was cold. Maria explained the whole treatment process so I would know what to expect. Then rinse and go. The whole process took about 35 minutes. Everyone at the salon was warm and welcoming and I can't wait to come back for my next treatment! I highly recommend them!

When I went to pay, I showed them a yelp coupon that says $10 off any service. I was told they are not affiliated with yelp and can't accept that coupon. Weird, but okay. I left really liking my manicure experience and even thought this may become my new regular place since it's so close to work. Fast forward TWO DAYS to Sunday morning. My nails had air gaps in the middle of the nail and were chipped on all of the edges. I was surprised since it had only been 2 days and usually my manicures last me around a week. I called and left a voicemail asking someone to call me. No one returned my call - no worries, I was in Philly so I'd call call when i returned. When I got back, I called and spoke to Tiara - who was friendly and gave me an appt for Wednesday to come in. I'm thinking everything is fine - they'll fix the nails and I'll be off. I arrive and the manicurist (the same one I thought was great) started to give me a hard time about how if I don't do gel then of course it will chip after a couple of days. What manicure only lasts 2 days? It's not like I was washing dishes or cleaning - I was on business travel. Then she starts to lay into me about how I'm getting two manicures for the price of one. I'm thinking why is she giving me such a hard time? I offer to show her a picture of what my nails looked like Sunday morning but she said no, it wasn't necessary. As my nails are drying, she disappears and comes back with another woman whose first question to me was "were you so mad about the Yelp thing that you came back to get a free re-polish?" What?!? How incredibly rude. No - I am not thinking about a stupid yelp thing a few days later - I have bigger things on my mind. She also told me I lied about coming on Friday and that i came on Wednesday - I was not in DC on Wednesday and there is no way I could've come in then. She kept going at me about how I did all of this to get a free re-polish and made up a whole story and lied about everything. I could not believe she was calling me a liar and treating me so horribly over re-polishing nails. I offered to show her how my nails looked on Sunday - the time stamp on the photo does not lie which she didn't want to see. When I told her she was being incredibly rude, she said she was not and went to go get someone named Robert to prove that I was lying about leaving a voicemail. Why would I lie about calling or leaving a voicemail? What do I get out of it? I have never been treated so terribly before: yelled at and called a liar. What a bizarre experience. I will be going back to my regular salon - Spa Logic, where my manicure lasts more than 2 days and I've never been yelled at or accused of lying. Attaching the picture from Sunday.

She cut my hair in a really cute shape and DEEP conditioned it. No more split ends, dryness is gone, and the style is so manageable. (I wish I had a before picture) But Ashleigh revitalized my hair and I'm amazed!!! She does this thing when she's done where she moves your hair every-which-a-way And it just looks and feels GRAND! She also listened to my concerns and gave me advice on at-home hair care. I feel so good knowing my hair wasn't beyond repair. She's so sweet and she eased my anxiety with her patience and all of the knowledge she shared about my hair. I added a photo but you need a video to see how well it moves and how shiny it is!
