Trader Joe's is great for all their unique food items and of course for their affordable wine selection, but have you ever checked out their flowers?!?! If not, you need to! For the past 4 years I have bought all of my flowers at TJ's. Not only do they have a great selection, but you can't beat the price! It makes it a no brained to fill up my vases throughout my house on a weekly basis. An 8 stem pack of roses are only $4.99. They have a so many fresh cut options to choose from and the prices range from $2.99 to 6.99 a bunch for single variety or they have 3 levels of mixed arrangements for sale and ready to be put in a vase exactly how they are. I am also a peony lover and they have them year round, they are gorgeous, and are sure to put a smile on your face! I buy all of my floral gifts here, too. They have begonias, succulents, orchids and many different indoor house plants in ceramic pots and ready to give for $3.99-12.99. Definitely a must for all mightier flower needs! read more

I could spend hours in this store looking at all the interesting products. 5-cheese wheel wrapped in puff pastry? Yes please! Goat cheese sampler? OK! Baby heirloom tomatoes? Yup! Not to mention beautiful rib eye and New York strip steaks, inexpensive wines, huge fresh basil plants... This store has everything. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the parking situation. Trader Joe's is awesome! They have really unique quality food items that are at decent prices. I've been coming to Trader Joe's since I was a little kid. At that time i was always drawn to their big selection of chocolate. Now I always get just the greens lettuce, mini beef tacos(kids love them), eggs(because they're cheap and good quality), and salsa. There are so many great things to get here and many of them are only here. They often have some hot free samples, which have convinced me to buy many things. Their staff is always super helpful and friendly. The only problem I have here is it always seems to get busy and there is not a lot of room to maneuver. -Things to try; Frozen orange chicken(really good), salsa, guacamole, flax seed chips(yummy and good for you), tortillas(handmade flour and it shows), pre-made pizza dough in bag(wheat, herb, or plain), their frozen Indian meals and naan bread are awesome, their spices are great, I like to get olive oil here because it's low price and good quality, and pretty much anything else. -They also have a huge selection of unique beers and wines at really good prices. read more

I hate reasonably priced food and wine, vegan options, and upbeat customer service in dad-like Hawaiian shirts. SAID NO ONE EVER. Trader Joe's is a staple for health foods and their trademark customer service. I will never not absolutely enjoy planning a grocery store trip when Joe's is my destination. Having a place with endless vegan/vegetarian options at a bargain price really is a life saver for me. And free samples? Bring it on. Can't ever leave without getting a good ole bottle of 2 buck chuck wine either(who am i kidding i stock up on a few). Located in Stockdale village right next to Village pets. Love Trader Joe's! The staff is friendly. They Always have a nice selection of produce. The property has a huge parking lot. They have a senior hour every day from 8am to 9am. I love Trader Joe's! They offer most things at a reasonable price. I priced checked between TJ and Sprouts and I found that TJ is cheaper in regards of meat and dairy/milk substitutes sometimes even $2 more per pound cheaper! However, when sprouts has a sale on their meat, you can't compete. Their produce is a little on the high side though so Sprouts is my place for most things not to mention the variety of things Sprouts has to offer. I absolutely love shopping at this Trader Joe's on Stockdale Avenue in Bakersfield. The staff is very friendly and so helpful. Today I really loaded my cart with goodies, checked out and after loading my groceries in the trunk I found out I had a dead battery. I then found some battery cables my husband has used a few times in the past ten years in the trunk, and lifted the hood of my car. Before I could even call Auto Club a young man by the name of Richard came out of the store and walked right up to me and asked if he could be of help. He then brought his car around and jump started my car. He then re-parked his car and went back to work. I was so grateful for this young man to come to my car and offer assistance. On the way home I kept thinking to myself what a wonderful asset this man is to Trader Joe's. A huge thank you to all who are a part of the team at this location. I love going to Trader Joe's for a couple of specialty items. Their soy ice cream is the absolute best & at a very reasonable price compared to other vegan ice creams. Some other must tries for other vegans out there is the vegan tikka masala, pea soup, freeze dried strawberries, vegan cookies, cashew butter, dark chocolate raspberry sticks, & their soy creamer. I come to Trader Joe's weekly...i absolutely love this store so many interesting things here!! Their roses are amazing!! and u cannot beat the price and they last and are so pretty..everything from the veggies, meats, breads etc is top quality. They have these little yogurt cups that come in a pack of 6 um yummy! they are whole milk and come in several flavors once i tried them with their toasted coconut granola i said by by to yoplait lol yes it's that good. Oh and the orange chicken in the freezer section to die for dare i say better than panda!!! mmmhhhmm....i get the organic brown rice in the freezer section to go with it it cooks to perfection in the micro in 4 min, they also have frozen pre cooked edamame see the perfect dinner i do the stove top directions turns out perfect every time. I also buy my pink vuevé champagne from there it's pricy but it's the best! Oh and their ice cream yum! now it is a higher butter fat and calories but u only need a lil bit to be totally satisfied it reminds me of thick creamy frozen custard. I love the employees here as well super nice and chatty it makes shopping so much more enjoyable. Oh Trader Joe's why are you not on the northeast side of Bakersfield too?! I take any opportunity I get to stop at this place, because of the many healthy and delicious food choices they offer (aaaaand the large alcohol selection at great prices). For starters, their veggie selection, although smaller than a grocery store, has just what is needed to make a great meal. As you continue to walk around, there is a sample area to try out some nice items that they offer. Next to it is a complimentary coffee area or maybe is also a coffee sample section, but I try not to drink coffee as much so I stay away from that table. As you go in between the aisles you find different food items from all over the world. I'm talking about Indian choices, Asian choices, Mexican choices, all type of choices! (its a "choice" word type of review). To summarize, this Trader Joe's is clean, with friendly staff, and great food CHOICES to make your next meal a delicious one. read more

You can never go wrong at a trader Joe's .They have great products that you would not find at other markets like Albertsons or wally world or WinCo .and a great variety of products .And the prices are ok .and sometimes very good .I mostly only shop at WinCo or grocery outlet.And Trader Joe's when I can get a ride with my sister .most other stores are for people who eat the same thing almost 7 days a week .... Updated review just because I cant express how much I love this place. Went in today & was instantly greeted. I spent $90 and got quite a bit of food. So far my favorites are orange chicken. Sautéed mixed veggies and turkey burgers and cookie Butter ... the cookie butter ohh my goodness the cookie butter!! So yummy!! Also. They have Turkey for Thanksgiving. Never frozen large turkeys but get them fast. They go by quickly. read more

I love Trader Joe's and have going on 50 years now... from the days when my mom would drag me along to shop at the one in Rolling Hills Plaza when I was a kid. I've never written a Yelp review about them, but last night a situation occurred that has compelled me to now. I had purchased some whole beans at another Trader Joe's but forgotten to get them ground up. I was driving to Bakersfield from Stockton (having attended a funeral earlier in the day) and knew that it was going to be tight to make the Trader Joe's here before closing, but was excited as I pulled into the parking lot at 9:55...only to discover to my chagrin that they closed at 9 p.m. As I pulled up to the curb in front of the store a worker (Sara) was walking out and confirmed that they had closed an hour early. I took a chance and asked her if there was any way I could go in just to grind my beans as there were still lights on in the store and other people, but realized that that would likely be against policy, for safety and security reasons. Without hesitation, Sara volunteered to go back inside and grind the beans for me herself! No doubt she had just finished a long shift and was ready to go home and relax, the last thing on her mind was to return back to work, but she didn't even think twice about making that wonderful gesture and saving me from having to go to a Plan B for some people I was entertaining the next morning. Thank you, Sara, for being the type of representative that has kept me a fan of Trader Joe's for all of these years and proof that successful companies hire people not worker...who carry their persona and demeanor with them on and off the clock. read more

This is the best Trader Joe in the sate of California. I have to go out of my way to stop here and have their free coffee and purchase gifts for my friends. I love to get the Coconut oil that helps to improve memory, reduce weight and increase energy. It will also reduce cholesterol and blood pressure. The best way to use this is to add this to tea or coffee. I also like their new sea weed crisp and toasted snack. This is a awesome source of iodine and this snack has to be kept refrigerated. The recently started to keep the Himalayan salt which has a amazing taste and is a great source of iodine too which prevents breast cancer. Some of my personal favorite grocery finds? 1) Greek Yogurt in flavors such as honey, fig, mango, and pomegranate. 2) Frozen eggrolls - chicken & vegetable 3) Coffee Rio candy - Only $2.99 for a large bag 3) dried fruits & nuts - a large assortment 4) hummus and tzatziki - lower in fat than most brands I find in town and quite tasty 5) Large muffins & small Fiber Cakes 6) ethnic marinades -masala, curry, etc. Trader Joes also has a variety of pre-made ready-to-eat food perfect for a grab-and-go lunch that is cheaper, fresher, and much healthier than at a fast food restaurant. (My favorites are the salads, the wraps, and the sushi - they package the fork inside the salad container so you really can grab it and eat it in the car as I did today. Their prices are very reasonable. A surprise, since most stores specializing in organic and ethnic options charge a premium. Their organic produce isn't cheap (whose is?) but the bagged salad/letttuce is much cheaper than that found in most supermarkets. Okay, the location so close to the corner makes finding a choice parking spot challenging during busy times, but the few extra steps you may need to get in to the store aren't the end of the world. The 10 to 15 minute wait in line to get into the store is not worth it. The line was down to Cone's Health food. They only allow 25% capacity still after 6 months of covid restrictions. We only go about once a month for things we can't get elsewhere instead of twice a week like before, getting lots of impulse items and trying new things. I am upset about my latest experience with Trader Joe's. I contemplated on not posting this on yelp because I usually don't like to put negative energy into the universe, but my experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I figured this was the only way for me to let it go. Yesterday upon the store closing between 9:30-10 pm, after a long day, I called Trader Joe's to see if they carried Grapples, or when the season was they may have them in stock. Obviously this is a speciality seasonal item and I have only previously bought them here which was so long ago, like 20 years ago. The person that picked up the the phone at Trader Joe's sounded like a young man. I didn't catch his name. I proceeded to ask him if they carried grapples or if they would be carrying them in time for the new school year. The young man was very condescending and asked me what was a grapple. I continued to explain that it was a hybrid Apple that was crossed with a grape. He laughed at me and cut me off and very sarcastically shot down my request. I again explained what a grapple was and that I was looking for them before mid August to buy for back to school. I told him years ago this was the only place I had found them. He quickly remarked again they don't sell grapples and never have very sharply. The way he talked to me was not only condescending but was demeaning and disrespectful. I'm not sure if he thought I was doing a prank call but he was very rude. I called sprouts after that, the produce person I talked to also wasn't well informed about grapples but took my request and said he would check with the produce manager in the morning to see if they could be special ordered for me. It's now lunchtime and I called over to Trader Joe's to request to speak to the manager. The man that took the call said that the manager was busy "doing reviews" and couldn't come to the phone. He wanted to take my name and number. I proceeded to tell him that I had a complaint from my experience yesterday and the man on the phone said the manager "couldn't come to the phone". So, this is basically why I've decided to post this. A couple months ago I was also looking for a tofurkey for Easter, they are traditionally sold around thanksgiving. At that time I called Trader Joe's and a young lady picked up she also wasn't very helpful and dismissed my request for having one special ordered in time for Easter. She gave me the third degree and said if I wanted an item like that I needed to request it well in advance and not four days before the holiday. I didn't need a lecture. So I will be posting here that I have always shopped at Trader Joe's and really love a lot of the items they carry. I have been partial to sprouts just because I have been a TJ customer for so long. But as of now, Trader Joe's you have lost a long time customer. I will no longer shop here for me or my family of four in Bakersfield. I will take my business elsewhere to Sprouts and Lassens locally. And if I do need a TJ branded item, I will buy from the TJs in LA when I'm in the area. I would recommend you improve your customer service training to your employees and teach them cultural sensitivities. I am mainly a raw vegan and my household is completely vegan. If you pride yourself on being a health and speciality food store ensure that you can cater to that population. It is already hard enough to source for specialty items and yummy raw vegan, gluten free options, you don't have to make the experience awful for those with these lifestyle choices.
