Overall a good Trader Joe's. We've been coming here for the past 6 months now and the layout is nice. Unfortunately we just had a poor interaction which was partially our fault but still an inconvenient situation. We were buying some groceries and paying cash. The original change I handed the cashier was short $1 so I handed him another $20 bill which he then handed back my $14 to me. My total was $35.58 so I ended up giving him $40.60. He handed me back 2 cents and asked if we needed a receipt, we said no as normally we don't since we've never returned products at Trader Joe's. Not realizing that we were missing the $5 until leaving the parking lot when we were getting cash out for gas. So we then drove back over and went inside to the desk to let one of the Captain's know what had happened. He said since we had no receipt there wasn't anything he could do unless we knew which cashier it was. This is understandable but the way he presented himself and bluntly told us there wasn't anything he could was just not the customer service we are used to seeing at Trader Joe's. Normally we shop at the Thousand Oaks location where the staff is all wonderful, never any issues with transactions, and the Captain's have great customer service like the rest of the staff. The Captain we talked to at this location said maybe he could help if we pointed out the cashier, and yes we could have pointed out the cashier except he was no longer up front and assuming he may have gone on a break or gotten off work didn't want to walk around the store looking for him so our groceries could spoil in the car. It's not that big of a deal, just $5. Especially since we didn't want to lose almost $40 worth of groceries for $5 back lol. There was just no compassion from the Captain we spoke to and not even a sympathetic apology regardless of the situation. His response was just very "not my problem" but helping resolve issues with guests and providing good customer service should be his problem. The situation itself just felt inconvenient and not something we have ever ran into dealing with our usual Trader Joe's locations before coming here. Hopefully moving forward there's no other situations like this and we will make sure to get receipts every time! Just wanted to share our experience so other guests can be aware. read more

It's hard to go wrong at a TJ's! This store is centrally located off the Freeway 101 Staff were friendly & helpful. Store layout is definitely user friendly as aisles are wide enough to push Ur shopping cart through. Food selection: nice options w/ several items I hadn't seen at other Stores. First off I love Trader Joes...its just such a different shopping experience. They have such a great different selection of food, snacks, drinks, ect. This location however seems a little run down to me. It also seems like this location puts a large presence on liquor sales, its like a full third of the store is some sort of alcohol. The shopping center it is in is a little run down as well and the store itself is right next to a Big Lots...so maybe its not the worlds best clientele frequents the area...who knows. This was my first visit to the Camarillo Trader Joe's. It is located off Carmen Drive in a fairly crowded strip mall. Parking looks like it could be a problem at times, as the parking lot was very crowded when we wete there. The store is large and bustling. The usual Trader Joe's items are there. The usual Trader Joe's casual vibe with Hawaiian shirted staff. Could have been a Trader Joe's anywhere! Consistant, excellent products and service. THIS Trader Joe's is my favorite. No, it's not near my home. No, I don't usually make special trips here, but today I did. I hit up 3 stores in one fell swoop when coming to this TJ's....... Michaels, The Guild and TJ's. Sometimes, I even add in the Big Lots, too. That's a whole helluva lot of shopping rolled into one. But I digress. This TJ's is very nicely laid out. I feel like it's bigger than others, and I don't really know if that's true or not....it just feels bigger. The aisles are definitely stocked differently, and I think their wine selection is much greater......again, not positive, but I felt like I was searching through more. Either way, TJ's stocks some of the best-tasting, best priced foods anywhere. I always feel like I'm getting a deal (because I am), and the food is higher quality and healthier than the "regular" stores (stripped of much of the crap that gets put into our food by sinful food perveyors), and they also have some of the most "sinful" tasting foods going..... have you tried their version of milk chocolate peanut butter cups? Heaven. Nirvana. Better than Reese's, hands down. Today, all I went for is their corn bread mix (have you tried this??? It IS the BEST TASTING and EASIEST to make) and some iced tea jugs that my hubby likes. I also bought a box of Cuties (small tangerines). I love this trader joes location. It's not that busy compared to when I lived in LA. Seriously in LA, the lines in there reminded me of the 405. They also have everything that I need. Trader Joe's seriously is the best!! Even in the midst of COVID-19 you feel special... I got there and waited in line and the employees asked me if I wanted water or coffee while I wait, Monique recommended I try an iced cold brew latte, I did and it was amazing! The store itself was very clean and sanitized. All the employees had masks, and were taking the Covid guidelines very seriously. Monique was the one who checked me out for all my items. We had a great short convo, she asked me about my family, how I was doing, and asked me how that cold brew latte was! She's seriously fantastic. I felt like family when I was there. Why Do I Say That? ...We made a pit-stop at Trader Joe's at Carmen Rd in Camarillo on n our way to Santa Barbara Yesterday, We arrived at about 12:45 P.M.. A line formed rapidly , thankfully the Strip Mall's sidewalks are shaded. The Lady Gatekeeper Greeted us and was very friendly. It was Very Hot even in the shade (in the high 90's and Very Humid) Lady Gatekeeper passed a basket with small, cold water bottles which were Very Welcomed by us all. She pointed to Sanitized Cart and baskets as we entered... not just Lightly Sprayed but well wiped carts and baskets. The Isles were well stocked, Floor Distance Signs were Very Clear and respected by all and All The Staff Was Professional, Helpful and Friendly!! As I waited my turn, I noticed that the Cashier who was going to help, me Kept adjusting her Face Mask, So, When it Came time to ring my groceries, I politely asked her to please use Hand Sanitizer before touching my groceries (I didn't tell her why, but we would not be able to sanitize our water and snacks on the road). If I hadn't had T.J.'s, Camarillo, CA, I don't know if I could have made it through the Covid crisis. Two years ago I developed an illness that forced me to be on high doses of prednisone which caused me to be imuno compromised. I was warned to be careful about exposure to others with illnesses. A year later, when Covid struck the advise changed to staying at home and Dr.'s appointments were changed to telehealth. I live alone so getting food without being exposed was a big problem. Trader Joe's made it possible for me to get food, they may have actually saved my life. I owe so much to so many at that store. Thanks to all of you---you know who you are. This particular Trader Joe's has the friendliest staff I've ever met. Not only do they have a variety of high quality, affordable options, but the place is so welcoming. One of the staffs took time to help me find the right type of cheese for my sandwich (he even took the type of bread I would be using into consideration). I just left the Trader Joe's in Camarillo and am still upset from the way I was treated. I made the unforgivable mistake of taking one of my bags in with me. I was only getting a few items and I put them right in my bag and went to the check out. I unloaded the items on the shelf by the register and the guy said, "next time put your items in one of the small red baskets". I said oh...okay and he checked all my items. I said, I'll load them in my bag myself and I started putting them in my bag. He finished checking and walked away, came back with a red basket. I said I have them almost all in my bag and he threw the last 4 items in the red basket and rudely said "Those things aren't supposed to be in the store" as he pointed to my bag. I said "I can't put those items in my bag?" He said very loud and much ruder, "Those things can't be in the store!" I had to take my bag and the red basket outside the door and put the last 4 items in the bag. I have heard other people complain about the attitudes at TJ's since the pandemic, but really hadn't experienced it myself. I know people are deathly afraid, but where has common sense gone. People are in the store picking up and putting items back all day long, yet I can't put my own items in my own bag. I'm not asking anyone to touch my bag or my items or me. But even more important, I am still a customer at Trader Joes, choosing to spend my money there. I have been a TJ's customer since the first store came into Ventura County and told everyone about them. Sadly, I will no longer be a customer. I choose to vote with my money and I choose to go somewhere I will be treated as a valued customer. People do have a choice. So long TJ's read more

They have a free sample available between about 4p - 6p and often times the sample is a quick and easy recipe using a 2-3 ingredients from the store. The employees are always polite and helpful not to mention the prices are so reasonable. I especially love their frozen individual meals for a quick lunch or dinner. Looking to try something new? I have to share the experience I had at this TJ's yesterday. As I was leaving the store, the handle of my shopping bag broke and the bag fell to the ground, breaking a bottle of grape juice and another glass jar of sliced peaches. The result: a big embarrassing mess right in front of the store. Instantly, two employees rushed out to my assistance, mopping up the sidewalk and wiping off all my other items that may have gotten splashed. Not only that, they went back in the store and returned with free replacements of both items that I broke, PLUS a free TJ's heavy-duty cloth shopping bag to put all my groceries in. They did all this cheerfully and with my utmost convenience in mind. In these days of so much narcissism and division in society, isn't it refreshing to see people behaving this way? On March 11th I went to Trader Joes in Camarillo Ca. to get flowers for my Daughter that had just passed away a few weeks earlier. The checker was chatting about how beautiful the arrangement I picked was and how she would buy the same flowers for her daughter who now lives farther away, I started crying and told her these were for my Daughter that had passed. She immediately said "Oh no...this is on Trader Joes, we will take care of it" and then asked if I wanted to talk a bit with her. She walked me out to the car and asked about my daughter, she really wanted to know about her as a person, and then put her hand on my shoulder and prayed. When we got to the car she but the box of flowers in my car and asked if she could hug me (we had masks on) when she did she said "Kayleigh is in heaven and she's telling you "You got this Mom you are strong" Her name is Cindy and I just wanted her to know how much she impacted my day and I will always remember that day and her! This is the best Trader Joe's I've ever been to. I moved to Camarillo a year and a half ago and the 3 TJs in my area always had long checkout lines, with some registers closed, and employees were nowhere to be found. This store has wide aisles making it easier to find what you're looking for, and if there are more than 2 people in a line, they open another register. Really great store! read more

Love this place!! Best service in town. They are never bothered when you ask them to check stock on something or point out the gluten-free options. Check out is always nice because they talk to you and ask how your day is going. Do I expect this? No way! But it's a nice gesture nonetheless.
