This review is in regards to a female checker who seems to be always having inappropriate conversations with other co workers and then try's to engage the customer in the inappropriate conversation. She makes people uncomfortable. She's so busy talking that she hardly pays attn to the customer. This has happened several times. She kinda seems like she's on drugs. Went here on Sunday, October 6th, to buy an insulated bag for my camping trip. First went to Safeway; nothing. Next to CVS; nothing. I shouldn't have wasted my time and went straight to Trader Joe's. And... A message for the ridiculously attractive black-haired (bangs w/touch o'purple) woman working the register next to the one I had to use: I'm sorry I didn't go to your register but I was running late. This is a great location--- with lots of parking. It is much larger than Pleasanton, and has a larger inventory. The food is fresh, and half-way prepared meals makes life easy. LIKE LIKE LIKE this store very much. The staff is so friendly. Kyle, J.D., Sally, Lindsey and Stacey are wonderful. They always greet us when we are there and make some effort to make my children feel special by talking to them, asking about them and even commenting about how they have grown. They might just be told to make conversations but we don't get that elsewhere in different stores. I like the food selection and the food demo table. I wished they would keep constant check on their inventory because they sometimes run out of things on their shelves when it's still early in the day. I also wished that they would carry more spices so I don't have to run to another store to get them. I generally like Trader Joe's (although you should NEVER buy your pine nuts here - I'm talking pine mouth, and it's not pretty). But I'm seriously tired of buying food, getting it home, opening it within a day or two, and consigning it to compost. Fresh peas supposedly good until August 6th? Guess again - stinky and slimy by July 27th. Bread dated "use before July 15th?" Nope - moldy by July 12th. We keep our fridge pretty darn cold, and foods we buy at other grocery stores last well beyond the listed dates. It seems that most things we buy from TJ's expire really early. I stopped buying bread and meat here years ago, but now it seems to be the same story for vegetables and dairy products. I don't know if it's a problem with TJ's in general or just this location, but it's very disappointing as this is the only useable TJ's in the area. read more

the parking situation can be a drag, but otherwise i always enjoy coming here. friday eve at 5:30pm was dead shockingly i walked right up to the cashier which was awesome. but the cashier informed me if i'd been there 3-5p, it was an entirely different story. so needless to say, i was happy and relieved to not experience that. otherwise, always a happy TJ's shopper :) read more

Behind the smiling faces of the clerks and the funky atmosphere lies a company that could care less about their customers. My wife was injured by the negligence of a Trader Joe's employee. The store manager said the company policy was to refer complaints to Gallagher-Bassett which, according to hundreds of reviews posted on the net, never pays and never settles. My wife is seventy-seven. She has Fibromyalgia as a result of the accident. For three years Trader Joe's has used lawyers to delay and to wear her down by lengthy interrogatories and exhausting depositions. She is seventy seven. This trader joes location staff has gone down in it helpfulness, and professionalism. The staff here use to be really nice and helpful. However the last time I was in there, it was almost all young kids, with no real manager in charge. While I was there I had three open registers all ignore me because a staff member who was not working that day, but visiting the store, came in, and all the check out clerks stood around and talked to him instead of checking out customers. They were cushing, and said the F word 5 times in front of my 2 year old. She was watching and hearing what they were saying. I asked them to stop cussing in front of my kid, and they ignored me. The manager was one of the employees that was standing around having inappropriate conversations in front of customers and children. It was like a bunch of people just hanging out and not doing there job. Completely unacceptable to me. I will not be shopping here anymore. I use to spend 200 dollars a week there. No longer. They just lost that steady 10,000 dollars a year from me they use to get. read more

I love Trader Joes & hate that I'm only giving a 3* rating. The 3 stars is for the products they sell, the variety, & the helpfulness of most of the staff. The reason I did not give the other 2* goes along with Allie M's review on 8-18-16. Although hers is a different story, it has the same complaint regarding the lack of attentiveness & professionalism of the management. Today at about noon I went there to exchange a tube of toothpaste I purchased yesterday. When I got home & opened the box, it appeared it had already been opened; I didn't want to use it. I buy this item regularly, so I know what it usually looks like when new. I approached the service desk by the front entrance. There were 2 men standing there, facing me, who were talking away between themselves, then they both looked at their computers, then they turned to each other & started up their conversation again. I kept waiting for one of them to make eye contact so I could say, "excuse me, I need to exchange this." That didn't happen. Eventually one of them walked away & the other one continued doing whatever on his computer. I stared at him for at least a minute. He finally looked up at me & said, "Did you need something." He sounded annoyed like I was interrupting something more important. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me at the service desk. Last time it was a different employee; I figured it was a one off. After today's experience, I felt I needed to write this not so happy review. I'm hoping someone in top management will respond to these issues and assure us this will change. read more

I shop at Trader Joe's as my main source of food, as there are no preservatives in the food. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Except for one employee, who is in his 20's, and apparently has problems. I majored in Psychology, and know various personality types. I was also a mental health counselor. This employee is apparently a child type. He needs a lot of attention.I believed that he had O.C.D. I am a senior, who is 76 years old, and use a cane to walk. I put the cane in my shopping cart when I shop, and use the shopping cart as a walker. This employee, whom I shall call E for short, would constantly remove my cane from my shopping cart and walk off with it. I have never heard of such behavior in my life. He apparently is a child type, and wants to play games with me, like "catch me if you can." What am I supposed to do, run after him? I continued my shopping, and then he would eventually return my cane. This was done repeatedly, about 11 to 12 times. Repeated patterns of behavior is symptomatic of O.C.D. He seemed obsessed with me, and would keep repeating this behavior. About the 12th time or so, He again reached into my shopping cart to grab my cane, stopped midway, and I saw him in deep thought, and then he removed his hand, since he didn't get the reaction he so obviously wanted. I thought that this was the end of it. But no, He upgraded his behavior to injure me. He would also hover around me, whenever I would talk to a customer or an employee. He wanted to hear what was going on. This was annoying, but I ignored it. Then recently, he was RACING down the bread isle, with a flat cart filled with empty crates, towards the back store room. Other employees walk their flat carts, but he was racing his cart. I saw him and stopped my cart a good 3 feet or more to let him pass. As he was racing by, he yelled at me, "Move out of my way!" I was NOT in his way. He moved over a bit closer to me, and gave my shopping cart a very hard and high karate to the side center of my shopping cart, so hard that it spun the shopping cart and me holding it, around. I didn't realize that I was hurt, until I got home. I then went back to the store, and filed an injury complaint against him. While the Captain was filing the complaint about the injury, the employee comes around again to hover over me and to listen to what is being said. I yelled at him "Stay away from me!" I mentioned to the Captain of the store, you see how he hovers around me? To assault or injure another person is a criminal offense. If the injured person is 65 years or older, the penalty is double. I now know why. I am 76 years old,. and the healing process is much slower, and more painful. So the complaint was filed with Trader Joe's insurance company, and the reply came back the employee said that he had his heel on the ground, and his toe up to stop my cart! The insurance company stated that they had taken a complete investigation of this matter, (complete investigation comprising taking the word of a liar as the truth) and they were not liable, and my claim was denied! The injury happened on a Sunday, and I immediately went to my chiropractor the next day. My head and eyes were exploding in pain hat Sunday, and for the next two weeks, until the pain subsided. I am not supposed to take pain killers, for health reasons, so I had to tolerate the exploding pain without any relief. I experienced severe pain all along my spinal column, which was knocked out of place. My right knee and my right ankle were also in pain. That night, when I went to the toilet and sat down, I couldn't get up! The pain to my ankle and foot was so severe! So I sat back down. I live all alone, and I was worried that I would be stuck sitting down on the toilet seat, unable to get up! This was a nightmare for me! After a few minutes, I forced myself to get up, and I screamed in pain! I called an orthopedic doctor, to look I said yes. They said that they would not see me if it was a P.I. Now I know why. The insurance company of Trader Joe's refuses to pay! He is still employed there. I also researched and wrote a paper on the sociopathic personality! The employee fits that profile. They have no conscience after hurting or harming another human being. They lie a lot. They need excitement in their life, like kicking a shopping cart, or injuring a person, or removing a person's cane from their shopping cart, they never take responsibility for their actions. They are serial in their behavior so I knew that he would injure me again, this time with vengeance for reporting him. So I would call T.J.S to be sure that he would not be there when I was shopping. The Captain finally told me not to come back to the store! So E is still working there after having injured me, and I have been banned from the store! read more
