However, the flavor and texture were sub par and the meat had alot of gristle. the regular burrito is just filled with meat and soggy rice- no pico or cilantro. the tortilla wrap was soggy. we only ate half each due to bad flavor. read more

Love the carne asada and chicharones, they are so good. The cashier is very friendly and helps me out to my car.

It was my first time shopping for Carne Asada at this market that was closest authentic Mexican market. The staff was very friendly, probably a bit surprised that I spoke a little Spanish asking for seasoned Carne Asada meat. Lots of great spices, groceries and friendly behind the counter staff (even though I was not Mexican). A bit more expensive on the per pound of seasoned meat compared to other markets but equivalent price if you consider travel time & fuel to get good Mexican flavors. I'm not an AI BOT, just a new customer...I can't provide a 5-star yet, need to evaluate the other aspects of the market offerings that I have not ventured into yet. Review for produce and carnitas (fried pork) Carnitas. Came to Contreras at about 9am (they open at 8) They were just pulling the carnitas out of the cazo and putting them on display. We were first to order and many people lined up after us to get them. Carnitas were fresh, hot and almost as good as they use to be (you know back in the day when everything tasted just a little bit better) Ordered 5 lbs when I had in mind to originally order 3. Produce. Can't have tacos with out the sides! The limes were just ok - I know its a crap shoot depend on shipment. The cilantro was kinda wilted and it took me some digging around to find a good bunch. Over all, the price is still really good. Legit Mexican Mart in Livermore. Livermore historically has always had a solid Mexican presence, therefore you know there will be stores to service such a community. Not really gonna find that in the neighboring towns of Dublin and Pleasanton. #demographics It isn't as large as say a Mi Pueblo, which is supermarket size. It is real close to a Chavez Market, which is about double the size of a 7-11. But don't let the square footage fool ya on offerings, this is a FULL service Mexi-Mart. It has a meat counter with butchers, a bakery and even a taqueria tucked in the back. I go to my own Mexi-Mart in my area, but I came here for a specific reason. They have an aisle here that stocks Peruvian dry goods. The one in my area does not. I got several Peruvian Chiles in jar form to play around with Peruvian flavors at home. I can't wait to use them! This place is great for spices and dried chiles. More varieties than I can name and a really great price. Instead of getting that tiny sprinkle jar of cinnamon or nutmeg at Safeway for $6+, you can get a small baggie of it here for under $2. I just refill those sprinkle jars for convenience. I also heard they cook carnitas on the weekends that you can buy by the pound. But I heard you have to get them early as they are popular. Now if the local Mexican peeps are flocking here and utilizing the services, that's enough reason for me to do the same. read more

This is a great market and taqueria. There is a pretty wide selection of groceries and they are well priced. The taqueria serves LOADED tacos for $2.50 each. The folks (both in the market section and the taqueria section) are kind and helpful. The market is located within the neighborhood and right near May Nissan Park so its convenient to grab the evenings dinner ingredients after a walk. Looking forward to visiting again. read more

Hands down the BEST tacos in the Bay Area and possibly the best burritos. You can't go wrong with the Al Pastor tacos and the Carne Asada Super burrito from the Taqueria. Surprisingly the beans and rice are also excellent. Next to the Taqueria are salsas and guac which are amazing and have a decent spicy kick to them. The customer service is always excellent and friendly too. They also do catering which is great and they customize that to you too. Oh, make sure to pick up the best chips, the thick Casa Sanchez. I recently moved back here from the Central Valley and I was looking for a place with a similar traditional flavors. The market itself is great it has fresh produce and anything else you may need. They also have a carneceria and a tortilleria, so fresh tortilla anytime you want. I tried the carne asada burrito from the taqueria inside the store and it was so freaking delicious. The second Market in Livermore and I likey! I like this store if I were looking for baked goods. There is more at this location than the one on Railroad/South P. There is also a restaurant area but there was no menu on the wall so I was not sure what they had. But I did see chicaronnes! And an aisle for tortilla's - mostly corn tortilla soft and crispy. I was looking for the thicker corn tortilla but they did not have any. The produce was nice and fresh. I bought Roma Tomatos at 99 cents a lbs. Which is cheaper than Safeway/Lucky. I also bought Watermelon Horchata and corn tamales. They were already out of chicken and pork and I was there at 10:30 am. I like the tamales at the other location. So I will go to this one for baked goods and the other for my tamale fix! Same prices for everything. Easier parking here. They do take ATM/Debit and Credit Cards. read more

Went there today for some authentic supplies for some mexican style home cooking - will definitely be back. The store is nicely laid out and easy to find things. I bought some chicken breasts at the meat counter, but will be coming back to try some more. Livermore doesn't have a real meat market or butcher - just Costco and supermarkets with their cellophane wrapped cuts, so this was a nice step toward that. I went in for fresh veggies (check), mexican cream and cotija cheese (check), tortillas (check), and some beans for a side dish (check) - so all in all I gotta say it's a great neighborhood store for your mexican food needs.
