I wasn't as impressed with the NBK Tj's as other ones. This location bigger and has a much more extensive wine and beer department. The two times I have been here, there wasn't much business. As a result, not much help around either. Their samples were all that memorable either. I pushed it up a star because I love TJ's, but prefer my local one in Glenview. Update: Usually, when I cook a steak, it ends up tasting like poo. BUT THE BEST DAMN STEAK I EVER ATE CAME FROM THIS LOCATION, EVEN AFTER I WAS THE CHEF!!! It's like $8-$9 per pund, BUT DAMMIT, IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! Even after it was well-done, it was "floppy" like it hadn't been cooked. It was just THAT tender. Original Review: Probably the biggest, most supermarket-esque-ly organized Trader Joe's I've been to. Please note that it doesn't make it any less hectic - it still gets very crowded despite the wider aisles. This is actually the first one I have been to that sells fresh meat. I thought I would have to stop in at the nearby Whole Foods to get some organic fresh meat, but this place saved me a stop. If you have a Trader Joes in your neighborhood, but find yourself in this neighborhood, you might do yourself some good by stopping in at this one instead of waiting until you're back home. read more

I do not understand this place at all. Every Trader Joe's I ever go to is always crowded. I love Trader Joe's but I do not like crowds in enclosed spaces. This leaves me in quite a dilemma when needing some TJ's goods. The answer is this location! I have never experienced a crowd here. We go out of our way to go here simply because of this fact. The strip mall where it is located has all kinds of other places that we like to shop so it is by far worth the drive. You can expect the same selection, quality and friendliness that I have become accustomed with at all TJ locations. This place is a winner in my book! read more

I *love* this location. The same friendly staff as everywhere else, but WIDE aisles. Also, I mostly only come here on Friday nights when most people find better things to do I suppose. Hardly any cart rage at all! What's better than shopping at Trader Joe's? Maybe hanging out on a bed full of chocolate lab puppies. I can't speak for other shopping times, but the aisles are a little wider here than at the Glenview location. Anyway, you know the deal. Great products. CHEAP. Many organic. Many delicious. A few "I cannot live without these in my pantry/freezer" products (Thai shrimp gyoza, anyone?) Now I just have to wait for them to restock that Speculoos cookie butter! Trader Joe's is a super awesome grocery store that carries great food (lots of organic products) are a great price. The staff is super upbeat, friendly and very helpful. The wine selection at this location is awesome as well. You can find great wines for under 10 bucks. I love their frozen foods section and have found many delicious meals there. Oh, and during the holidays - get the Peppermint Joe-Joes - they are basically Oreo like cookies filled with peppermint with real peppermint candy pieces. Super yummy. Great location, good parking and plenty of other cool stores to shop at while you are in the area. read more

Trader Joe's makes me feel happy. The people that work here are friendly and helpful. I always discover new things to try that are priced right to buy once to see if you like. I think their fruit is a better quality then Mariano's down the road. I think their cheese selection is expansive and reasonable. I like their seasonal rotations. Pumpkin coffee in the fall. Cheese fondue in the winter. I like their frozen options particularly, the Italian pasta and Indian entrees and naan. I always end up spending more than I originally planned but I am never disappointed with my selections. read more

Trader Joe's may be receiving my Whole Foods money from now on. After I took my first serious visit to Trader Joe's recently, I may have concluded that there are many things I can start buying at Trader Joe's and help me stop being brainwashed by the "Whole Foods" superiority issue with which they have infected me. First of all, I was happy to see many organic items at TJs, from fresh organic vegetables (a bag of 4 organic avocados for $3.00, versus $2.00 each at Whole Foods - yes, the Whole Foods organic avocados are larger, but not 167% larger), plus frozen vegetables (TJs organic frozen peas 16oz for $1.99 versus I believe a 12 oz bag at WFs for about $3.69). TJs has organic dairy too. I also want to applaud TJs for their incredible ice cream! The pecan pie ice cream is truly phenomenal! I love having a crunchy pecan bit(s) in literally every bite, plus the slight toothsomeness of the shortbread pie crust bits, and the frozen pecan pie filling swirls, make it one of the best ice cream textural experiences I have had in a while. And $4.49 for a quart is even more amazing to me, given a pint of similar quality handpacked ice cream at the local ice cream shop is $6.00. The coffee ice cream is also very delicious and priced very well at $3.99. And even though it is not organic, at least they use dairy without bovine growth hormone, which I guess is one of the primary reasons to purchase organic dairy. I will admit that the first couple of times I went to TJs over the past year, I was not enthralled by the supposed "amazing" customer service - in fact, I was a little turned off by the perceived aloofness and "unfriendliness," while I had been expecting an incredible experience of TJs employees bowing down to my presence based on everyone else saying TJs service was the best. However, I guess I don't need small talk with people when all I really want is more great prices for good food. I'm not going to give up the "organic" craze that Whole Foods has instilled in me, but I will give up the belief that Whole Foods organic is the "better" organic. After all, Jewel has organic produce too, but for some reason "people" tend to think the Whole Foods organic food is better somehow... I am not too good for Trader Joe's! Go early. That's my advice. The place gets very crowded on the weekends if you are not there by noon. Parking is usually pretty easy but I am always there by 11am. It is the typical lay out for the store but what I like most about this location is all the other stores that are close by. I can complete lots of shopping without moving my car. read more

Used to be amazing store with amazing customer service. They have new people working now a days I guess, who provide terrible service. She is chewing and eating with one hand and scanning my food with another. Threw my stuff in a bag all over without organizing, no double bagging for heavy stuff and my bag broke later on. Got treated like this by the same person twice. I have never had this kind of experience in this store before. Worse than walmart experience. No matter what they say about you, I still love you. You're not the prettiest Trader Joe's. Nor are you the biggest or best one out there. But you are the closest, and convenience counts for something, right?? There are two reasons that this place is not a 4-5 star establishment like other Trader Joe's. The first is the lines. If you have lines 5-6 deep and only two registers open, do me a favor and open additional registers. Trust me as soon as we all pay and leave you can go back to doing whatever you do when we're not buying. If you need to hire an extra weekend worker, there as to be at least one kid in all of Northbrook, Highland Park, or Deerfield that wants some money. The second reason is, that this store just feels like it carries less goods compared to the one on Waukegan and Lake in Glenview. Maybe it is because nothing will compare to your first TJ? This place is great. Their employees are awesome - it is rare that people are always that happy at work. Seriously, they find the friendliest people and all of them work hard. They are also very familiar with the products the store offers, and know what to substitute. Also, they upsell like crazy, but the way they upsell is subtle - "Oh, you like the kumatos? You should try them in a salsa with the tortilla chips, awesome snack!" The negative is that some things are only stocked seasonally or for single runs. I am aware how this works with produce and holidays, but I'm talking about processed foods, bread, meat, etc... don't get too attached to any one item. I have been to three different Trader Joe's but I have to say this location is my most favorite. It is not too big, not too small. It is clean, well-lit, and the cashiers are friendly. One thing that may bother some people is the fact that there is always a line to the cash registers. When I go to TJ, I am usually not in a hurry so this doesn't bother me and use this time to admire the chocolates near the registers. I don't know what else to say. IT'S TRADE JOE'S and I love it! I am willing to drive 40 minutes back and forth every two weeks so I can shop there. If you haven't been, you're missing out. They have fresh produce, lots of cheeses, a variety of delectable frozen foods, and most (if not all) of their products have no preservatives. Must haves: Organic Soymilk Original Pomegranate Seeds Raw Almond Butter Falafels SEA SALT AND TURBINADO SUGAR DARK CHOCOLATE ALMONDS! (Buy a ton when they are available 'cause they are always sold out and they are GOOD) Chocolate Cat Cookies for People (I try to limit though because I can finish a tub in one day...not kidding!) I just recently shopped at this location while visiting family in Northbrook. I am from Oklahoma and have heard about Trader Joe's so I had to go check it out! I was immediately taken in by the interesting products and reasonable prices! I wound up buying several things including the famous Cookie Butter, which is amazing! The thin crisp toasted coconut cookies are awesome! Can't wait until I can get some more of this stuff! Also bought some granola-coconut cereal, BBQ rub, some green tea-lemonade, coffee and a few other things. I do not live near a Trader Joe's but will go to the nearest one as soon as I can! I'm slightly ashamed to admit that we only discovered the magic that is Trader Joe's (or "TJs" as we call it) in the last couple of years. The closest one to us in the city isn't terribly far, but it's not down the block either, and parking can be very cramped. So, when we get an opportunity to knock some shopping out at a different location we're all about it. We stopped in for our week's haul on a Sunday (at our own risk!) and had a great experience. Everything was well stocked, easy to find, and staff was friendly as always. We had no issues finding parking, and although there were plenty of other shoppers, the flow of traffic moved well and there was not a huge wait at checkout. I'm continually impressed at how inexpensive yet high quality their offerings are, and to date have never had any issues finding the things we need. I only wish this location was closer to home! read more

Love Trader Joe's, and this location didn't disappoint at all. The products that they have are very similar to their other locations and they do their best to maintain a similar layout (or at least that is what I've seen with the other Trader Joe's I've been to), And their politeness and willingness to help with a smile is on par with other locations as well. As soon as they notice long lines, they are quick to open up other lanes to help with the flow. Employees are easy to find and easy to approach for help. Being part of a strip mall, they have ample parking as well. read more

This TJ's has the best samples pretty much all the time. I appreciate the fact that it's in the suburbs and thus has a non-spaghettified parking garage to wind through (see: TJ's on Clybourn downtown). Everyone's nice here--but that's true at all TJ's. Right off the highway, always good..and there's a marshall's and nordstrom rack in the same mall beside it! There's a Garden Fresh Market grocery store too, in case you need to grab a few things TJ's is lacking. read more

I always overdo it, but my total bill is never that bad. I just read the funniest article today on HelloGiggles that says" Actor Daniel Spenser has discovered a bizarre Trader Joe's quirk that we can never unsee now. Spenser pointed out that all Trader Joe's products have five-syllable names, but to get more specific, you can sing most Trader Joe's product names to the tune of "Eleanor Rigby" by The Beatles. Eleanor Rigby when sung sounds like Ele-a-nor Rig-by." Now, I am gonna be singing this when I shop for my groceries. The workers at this store are super nice and have great tips on how to cook the items you're purchasing. Pumpkin soup with some cojita cheese, pumpkin seeds..and poof dinner! Or a bag of frozen seafood, butter, olive oil, parsley in a large pan and then cook a bag of orzo, drain it, and mix altogether. Or fresh ravioli with marinara sauce and fresh parmesan. Or if you want, the frozen section has so many choices..Indian (tikka masala yum)Thai, Chinese (soup dumplings!), Korean style beef and even gojuchang almonds (pretty tasty). I would watch the sodium content though if you have high blood pressure. The Brussel sprouts come in a bag cleaned..throw into a roasting pan with sliced applewood bacon, maple syrup, salt and pepper and the perfect side dish (it's very addicting). So if you're in a funk with your cooking or looking for some hacks to make more creative dishes, this is the perfect place to start. read more

This location felt larger than others we are familiar with, with the alcohol section with noticeably larger selection. Overall Trader Joe's is a good store. The reason why I gave two stars for this location is due to the issue I encountered at this store. where the staff are culturally insensitive to say the least. Having moved from Oak Park (great staff at TJ's), the staff at this location need serious training on cultural sensitivity and not treat their customers differently based on their appearance. read more

This place is always busy and for the north shore has decent ppl that shop there the times I have been. Finding a spot in the parking lot can be a challenge. Actually the whole experience is usually like a game where you have to be on the offense haha. It is a cheerful store with helpful employees. This is a fine Trader Joes - if you've ever been to TJ's, you know what you're getting and this one offers the same selection. I've grown more concerned with TJ's given the amount of recalls lately, but still buy some various items there (chips, wine, nuts, etc.) The one issue with the Trader Joes in Glenview and this Trader Joes is that they are in malls with horrendous parking lots, especially the one in Glenview, which is in a tiny mall and there's not enough parking for the demand. The new Trader Joes in Vernon Hills is a freestanding with its own parking lot and hopefully future ones will be the same - it's nicer than having to deal with overcrowded, hectic mall lots. read more

This is hands-down my favorite store. I have been shopping here for organic and health products for my family for a few years now. It's small, but if you know what you're looking for then there are definitely a lot of great things that you can find.
