The location of this Trader Joe's is in the cutest neighborhood we drove through outside of Chicago. The store itself is your standard spacious-sized TJ's. Lots of the same stuff that we shop for offered here. Their sweet potatoes cost a lot less though. Staff are very friendly and helpful as most staff at TJ's are. We bought tons of Trader Joe's 1.5 liter water bottles here, some of their frozen brown rice to go with our meals and sweet potatoes for me of course. Great location, plenty of parking on weekdays during less busy hours. Can't go wrong with TJ's baby. =) read more

I have such a soft spot for TJ's I secretly hope they do NOT open a store near me as I selfishly want to keep this a secret. Full disclosure, when I was a kid I used to clean TJ's floors in the middle of the night in San Diego. I think extended hours of exposure to their products and culture tainted me forever! I'm a fan of every single Trader Joe's store I've ever been in. This one is no exception. Of course I much prefer the ones that sell wine - since I come from Pennsylvania where they DO NOT, you can understand the appeal. It seems that every Trader Joe's is staffed with the friendliest and most helpful people. I'm not sure how they find employees that are so upbeat all the time, but they do. And this location is another example. Everyone wanted to make sure we found what we were looking for and our cashier was super friendly and engaging. While I liked this store, the wine selection was a bit underwhelming compared to others I've been to. Sure, you can get your standard TJ offerings but the wine selection appeared just a bit unorganized and was less extensive than what I've become used to - see how quickly we can get spoiled? But we still managed to complete a good shopping experience picking up everything we came for so it is reliable in that regard. They share a fairly small parking lot with several other businesses and I'm sure that parking is quite an issue at times. But if I had this store close to me I certainly would not complain! read more

As usual, another Trader Joe's tucked away in a relatively inconvenient location, the middle of downtown Park Ridge. But this one is nicer than the one in near Arlington Heights. Food arrangement and selection is very good and not crowded unlike I've seen in other Trader Joe's. Fairly spacious for us customers to move around l, unlike the ones in NYC which I hear is horribly crowded. It's clean, no messes, and reminds me of a small Mariano's. Two kinds of carts and baskets are available for use - I don't shop often and not a whole lot, so the baskets for me, and they were moderately used but fairly clean and reliable, even with several bottles, of which is milk, orange juice, marinara, and booze. Prices are fair to cheap, especially the wines and spirits. The employees here are friendly and helpful, answering our questions and solving issues, as well as checking us out at the front register lanes. Double bagging was done for my groceries so this was great. Some other grocery stores have rather rude cashiers, so this is a real treat. I had a bit of a minorly bad spit with an associate - I said that a certain scotch whisky is out, but he said that it's available and pointed it out. Problem with that is 1) the label is different from the others, and 2) the shelf explicitly marked 3 kinds of scotch whiskies. I'll have to revisit this and look at my receipt to make sure. If it's not what I wanted and bought, then the 1 star penalty remains. If I'm wrong and he's right, I'll update the rating to 5/5. No big deal, just wanted what I wanted. Even if one of us is wrong, it's no big deal. Parking is ample, but should it be full, there's the underground lot across the street. The only bad things about this store is occasionally the parking gets challenging and they no longer stock store brand bottled lager and pilsner beers which (the latter) is very disappointing because that was a great value for craft beer. I recently went here in Trader Joe's and this store definitely has the nicest staff. The moment the staff saw me, she greeted me. When I was having a hard time looking for a particular product the other staff inside gladly helped me and I appreciated it so much. The store on the other hand is nice too. The aisles are clean though it was overall clean. The sections are organized and well stocked and it was so easy to navigate around. They have a wonderful organic selection as well as the produce section and all looks so fresh. Prices are fair and reasonable. I'd say this is a good store. They are definitely not the best because, of course, they are not perfect, and they honestly also have things that are not really good, which I think cannot be avoided. What's good about this grocery store is that first, it is clean and well-lit. Second, everything is well-organized, and if not, it is not really messy when you look at it. Third, it is always well-stocked, although there would be times when some products would run out of stock. Lastly, their produce is fresh. Every product they have is in good condition, and I have never really encountered an expired or spoiled product. Prices are average and reasonable. When it comes to the staff, they are not really friendly, but they are not rude either. They have a nice staff, but it would definitely be a few of them. What I also like about this grocery store is that whenever I go here, it is not too busy and it is easy and convenient for me. The Park Ridge Trader Joe's was unlike any other Trader Joe's I have ever been to. This isn't my first trip to this specific trader joe's, and every time I come, I am met with unfriendly employees. My original trader joe's employees would constantly ask if we needed any help. At checkout, they would say hello and ask us about our day, and go out of their way to be friendly. This last experience was the last straw. As I was bagging my own groceries, the cashier was literally throwing the items at my hands. Her shift was over after I paid, and left me to bag the rest of my items and walked away. While I understand it's not the most exciting job and i'm not asking for extra friendly faces, at the bare minimum I would appreciate employees not being rude. Years ago I'd hit this location very rarely, I think because I wasn't quite sure where TJ's rated with organic foods, conventional, etc. I have and always been more of a Whole Foods kind of shopper. Recently I was getting bombarded with advertisements from Naturebox. Some kind of service that delivers fruit and veg snacks to your door in a pretty box for about $20 dollars a box. Upon reading reviews of the service a gal mentioned that she's always been able to find great snacks of the same variety at Trader Joe's. With it being the Christmas season I decided to give a few people a basket of bounty and decided I'd head to TJ's to see what snacks were available. It was my first time spending as much time walking around and getting to know the store. There's an aisle of snacks with tons of options. I like that many have a lot of information on it and it's branded as Trader Joe's product. For a gift basket I decided on an amount I would spend and was heartily surprised when checking out. With the items I wanted to add to three baskets, I also picked up a few grocery items and the total wasn't nearly as high as I'd expected. It was grossly lower and I had organic items in my basket. It's also odd to me how much lower in price some of my favorite frozen items are here as opposed to any other grocery store. Why is that? Who cares.. this random visit has changed me into a new Trader Joe's customer. I see the value of getting good groceries at an affordable rate. Brand new TJs is a great addition to downtown Park Ridge. You'll see the storefront sign from NW Hwy, but you actually have to turn on a sidestreet to park in the big lot and enter the store. This store is nicely laid out - wide aisles. TJs has so many cool items that we now can't live without. Toddler is addicted to the freeze-dried strawberries. My new favorite is the Mandarin Orange chicken - it rivals what you'd find at a Chinese restaurant. In fact, a customer saw me loading up and asked my opinion on it. (I convinced her to try it). Everything is well-stocked from what I could see (it's a new store, after all). Samples throughout the place. Employees were very friendly and helpful. This Trader Joe's has all the same stuff as the one in Glenview...except for the ENORMOUSLY SPACIOUS aisles. Seriously. You Park Ridge shoppers are really lucky, especially the ones who live right upstairs! It was a perfect Trader Joe's visit. Where were all the annoying children? No one pushed a mini cart into my legs! What a miracle. Also, the sample station was showcasing TWO of my favorite snack foods - TJ's pumpernickel pretzel (sooooo good) and the Honeycrisp apple (one of my favorites, try one!). This Trader Joe's is pretty awesome. Friendly staff, well-labeled items, extra information on many products, and punny decorations fill the store. Parking is easy, and like every TJ's I have visited, it's easy to find vegan and gluten-free items. They are also really great about opening a new aisle at checkout when the lines get long. The prices on a lot of the produce, like bananas, are consistently good. My big problem here is that I LOVE so many products, but they are not reliably stocked. Apparently, many other people love them too, and TJ's cannot keep up with the demand. Half the time, they are out of the goat yogurt my doctor has me eating now. Getting the soy ice cream I am technically not allowed to have for two more months is a craps shoot, so when I go I have to buy three since next time, there may be none available. (Yes, this is the real reason I have so many cartons of it in the freezer. I swear.) Some of the frozen entrees are similarly unpredictable. I guess if the #1 complaint a grocery store has is that they keep selling out of things, they're doing something right. Still, it is dangerous to get between a pregnant woman and her ice cream. Somebody could lose a hand. For endangering their customers in this way, I must dock them one star. If you want to take your chances on shopping with Pregzilla on the loose, I still recommend TJ's for your grocery shopping. read more

Fat Shamed By Cashier Braxton! I went into this store this evening on 9/26. I bought 6 items: bags of frozen veggies, potatoes, orange chicken, turkey burgers, and rice. I went into "Braxton's" line. He didn't greet me at all. Toward the end of my transaction as he prepared to bag my items, he looked at me with disdain and said " Oh, getting a few snacks for tonight?". He had this smirk on his face when he said it. He clearly meant to insult my weight! He insinuated that because of my weight, all of my items were just a snack that I'd eat in one sitting. I was insulted by Braxton's comment, and asked the manager for a refund which I received as a credit back to my card. I will NEVER step foot into this store again! This was my first and last visit to this store. I didn't ask to be fat shamed! read more

Great selection of cheap but delicious products. If you haven't been in a Trader Joe's before, you're missing out. Wider aisles, less crowded, and more parking than the Glenview location. Employees are friendly and knowledgeable and the return policy is top notch - if you didn't like something, just let them know for a hassle-free refund or exchange (don't even need a receipt). Meat and produce can sometimes be a toss up but most dry and frozen TJ's branded products are wonderful. On top of a great organic selection, many of their products don't contain hydrogenated oils or preservatives. This is a great place to shop if you like to eat healthy... Well, I've been to other Trader Joe's locations. This one just opened in early March, so it'sbrand new. The parking is small but not crazy wild requiring traffic controllers like the nearest Whole Foods on Peterson that also opened recently. Inside, it's like any other Trader Joe's I've seen. First thing you see when you come in, are the fresh flowers at remarkably great prices. Where else can you get a dozen roses on Mother's Day for $3.99 without the transaction involving a bearded, sunburned, homeless-looking guy on the street corner? And those roses lasted an entire week! There are unique items like the apple-raspberry sauce I love, frozen items, and unique foods the big chains don't offer. I am addicted to the Panda Puffs cereal, which are round yellow balls that taste peanut buttery and sweetened lightly. I can eat it straight out of a box, but it's even better with some warm (not hot) milk. There's a pretty big wine section but I'm not into wines so I can't really get into details there. My son liked it too since they gave out balloons and had little kid-sized shopping carts. read more

I have a gross love from Trader Joe's. This is the closest location to my hometown and they are guaranteed friendly and helpful. I love that TJ's carries their own unique products. My favorites include: the Speculoos Cookie Butter, Multigrain blend with veggies, 9 grain sprouted wheat bread, fruit & nut granola, their huge variety of hummus and dips AND they beautiful selection of affordable fresh flowers. I love Trader Joe's. In some ways it has the feel of a European Market crossed with an American grocery store. The best of both worlds, I guess. We went to the Park Ridge location to check it out. We usually go to the one on Lincoln Ave., but I am sick of dealing with the crazy parking lot there. The parking lot in Park Ridge is not as crazy, but just as busy. We stocked up on some TJ essentials for the holidays. Got us some meatballs (frozen), their bread and butter pickles, a few bottle of Two Buck Chuck (which is now $2.99). I also picked up some other odds and ends, including two tiny poinsettia plants for table decorations for Xmas. I think we will probably stick with the Lincoln Ave. store because it is closer. This location, however, does have a lot going for it. It is a case of weighing the pluses and the minuses. Such is life in the big city. read more

I was very happy that Trader Joe's opened a location right by my work. It's very convenient for shopping after work and a lot easier than trying to get to the downtown locations. (This is especially true since I don't have a car readily available.) Trader Joe's is a great place to buy pre-made vegetarian entrees. I absolutely love their fresh salsa and hummus. Love it! I've never been to Trader Joe's and was on my way home the other day with my sister and my kids and decided to stop in. My sis hadn't be there either and walked out with like 8 bottles of wine. Anyway, I so love their stuff! Their yogurt o's were great, cheaper than the named brand and actually tastier! I got a ham steak that was SO thick and incredibly delicious! Love their mixed nuts and trail mixes as well. And then there's the fact that they've got a great selection of frozen stuff and wines. I cannot say enough about them, except that they're also incredibly affordable! Oh, and they've got little mini-carts that your little ones can push in the store too, which is too cute! read more

Fun fact of the day: Did you know that TJ's is owned and operated by the Aldi Corporation? It's a far cry from the likes of that chain (no offense), but this place has created a niche in specialty food products at low, low prices. It rivals big names like Whole Foods and Fox & Obel. I'm kind of obsessed with TJ's. The pretty packaging and low prices are what keeps me a repeat customer. Not to mention, their products are very unique! Pretty nice store..their fresh produce is great and the employees were knowledgable and helpful. I only wish they had a larger frozen selection...they were missing a few things that I'd come to love that are available from other TJ's. If you're by the checkout and need a chocolate fix, I highly recommend the TJ brand organic milk chocolate/dark chocolate truffle bar. The staff at this one always seems to be pretty friendly. I have noticed that the sample lady will be sure to give the old man who is standing there talking 2 or 3 samples before giving my friend and I one. I know that sounds stupid, but I know she is doing it because we are young and she thinks we won't buy anything, but we spend at least 40 bucks every time walk in there. This is a really great Trader Joe's. The employees are great. There's always someone around to answer a question about a product or help you locate something. You rarely have to wait in line. If they see you waiting to check out, and there's a closed register, they'll open a register for you, even if there's only one person in line ahead of you. Plus, they know the products and make helpful recommendations. The products that the store offers are good, I've only tried one item that I was unhappy with. The only small flaw I've found with this store is the produce section. The quality is good, but some items are only offered prepackaged, so you can't choose the exact quantity that you want. read more

Finding this Trader Joe's was a blessing to my pantry as well as my wallet. I can get a lot of dry goods and some fruit, along with fun random stuff for reasonable prices. One thing I've learned is to stay away from their meat/seafood selections - the seafood is almost always frozen and doesn't taste that great; the meat can be hit or miss. Unfortunately, they don't have as much fresh produce as I would like, but the selection is expanding every trip I head out there. They also give incentives for bringing in your own bags (a raffle once a month for free groceries). For some reason, it's less congested than the TJ's in Glenview, and I refuse to go to the store on Lincoln because of the location. It's easy to waste money here on the huge selections of fun stuff, so watch your cart!!! read more

My first impression of Trader Joe's was that it was nothing more than an up scale 711. Excerpt that you won't find Apu working here late nights because it closes at 9 PM. The merchandise available is tailored for the shopper seeking organic food and higher-quality merchandise. From fresh fruit, organic chips, candy and juices, the store has it all. A little pricey but a good alternative for specific items never to be carried by stores like Jewel or Dominic's. If you want vitamins, you won't find a better selection outside of Walgreens. The store is bright, clean and the aisles are wide enough to bowl watermelons down. The layout of the store is also a plus. With a smaller selection of merchandise, your ability to shop quickly and to grab and go is vastly increased, when compared to the football sized Jewel stores one must trek through just to get some milk. It's actually more east, corner of NW Highway & Meachum (strip mall, next to Krisers) We often switch between this one & the Glenview location, for sometimes one will have/be out of something we need. Pros: +A typical TJ's +next to natural pet store "Krisers" +cute, safe-looking area +Friendly people Cons: -Parking can be difficult, for it's in a popular strip mall Things to be mindful of when shopping at Trader Joe's: -Much of their food has soy ingredients (could be good or bad, just something to notice) -They claim "NO MSG" in any of their products. HOWEVER, this is not true, for MSG also goes by other names, such as "Yeast Extract", which happens to be in most of Trader Joe's' products, and if you're allergic to MSG, as I am, you will get hit by the same side effects. This place is the balance in my life. We give in to so much temptation on the outside but at home we keep it healthy thanks to affordable and super tasty food from Trader Joe's. I used to break my back trying to do only scratch cooking but there are so many affordable healthy pre-made items here that It really takes a load off and I don't have to stress if there is GMO's or super toxic killer gunk in our food. We get enough of that when we eat out so like I said this gives us the balance we need. The staff here are super awesome restoring my faith in humanity. I am so tired of people who do not look at you in the eyes or act rude if you ask a question. Here there is none of that they ask you if you need help when you walk the aisle, they check your eggs to make sure you did not get a broken one, make pleasant conversation while they bag your groceries and are knowledgeable about the products they sell. I always ask whats there favorite thing in the store or if they have a recommendation. I have found many good things this way. When I shop here I feel happy because I know its going to be a good experience and I bring home lots of yummy stuff that's actually good for me too.
