I'm not really into organic foods, so don't go to Trader Joe's for that reason, like several patrons I have seen dressed like hippies who never left the '60s, and likely do all their grocery shopping here. I do like fresh produce, which Trader Joe's has in abundance, but mainly come here for specialty items, like Jasmine rice, queen-sized olives stuffed with red pimentos, and special chocolates and cheeses. This time I got in my car and headed for the Redlands store right after being intrigued by a few items that were featured as holiday specials in the Fearless Flyer received in the day's mail. They included Belgian chocolates, Aged Dutch Goat's Milk Gouda Cheese, and Chocolate Cheddar Cheese. This small store was crowded with shoppers, as usual, but I was pleased to find all of the items I was looking for, and a friendly stocker led me to where I could find suitable crackers for the cheeses. So, my review could end here. But, believing it would be incomplete without at least describing how the foodstuffs I bought actually tasted, I decided to defer writing this piece until I had sampled each of the items I purchased. Having now quickly done that, I can report that I liked regular Dutch Gouda and Chocolate Cheddar on TJ's Golden Rounds Crackers best of all. Even cold the Chocolate Cheddar was a tasty blend of creamy goodness intermixing English White Cheddar Cheese and swirls of dark chocolate. TJ's Dutch Gouda was just as I remembered it: creamy, smooth, and a bit nutty. Trader Joe's Double Creme French Brie was hard at first, but once the cheese breathed, it softened and tasted great as only Brie can on Golden Rounds Crackers, which were very much like Ritz Crackers except much smaller, even though the picture on the front of the box was of a gigantic cracker that simply did not exist. And, while the Aged Dutch Goat's Milk Gouda Cheese was smooth and good, to me it was like Gouda Lite, lacking the robust flavor of Dutch Gouda made from cow's milk. As for sweets, I passed on the Belgian chocolates, but brought home instead Trader Joe's Chocolate Almond Clusters which Diane adores, and I savor as well. Anyone who likes a Milk Chocolate Hershey Bar with Almonds should enjoy these chunky treats. For good measure, a bag of TJ's Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews filled out my bag. These large intact cashews are now about $2.00 higher in price than they used to be, but just as crunchy and satisfying, and still a bargain at $6.99 for a pound bag. Stockers= helpful and knowledgeable Great market to shop at , especially if you like a relaxed environment full of cool and different foods. The prices are reasonable and there is plenty of parking. This Trader Joe's is a disappointment... 2 years in a row now this location doesn't have their pumpkin cheesecake even when it is advertised. This year I came in specifically for it and was met by rude staff and a lousy "I don't think we got anymore since it's seasonal." It is the right season mind you and the employee didn't offer any other help besides telling me they didn't have it. So I decided to go all the way to the Ranco Cucamonga location where guess what!? They had the advertised pumpkin cheese cake and lots of it. I won't be going to this Trader Joe's ever again. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with this Trader Joe's. I really love the entire concept of this chain of stores. I don't think I really need to go into great detail about what a Trader Joe's is. We all get it. I'll just summarize.. I love the selection of hard to find, speciality foods you can find at these stores from all over the world as well as the selection of wines and beers - some of which are made just for Trader Joe's. And who can turn down the occasional bottle of "Two Buck Chuck"? Some have commented on the prices.. for good and for bad. The facts are simple. On some items, they are indeed expensive - but on others they are quite reasonable. The key, like at any other place - is to shop with a discerning eye. I will admit though...it is very easy to fill my shopping cart to the brim with all kinds of specialty items. There are a couple things that will always limit this location to only 3 stars at best. They have been commented on by more than one. First - the location is indeed a bit on the small, cramped side. The aisles are narrow - and its very easy to bump into others and be in each other's way in here. And this may lead to my second, major complaint. The main reason I dont like coming here are the customers. I have found them to be, on average, some of the rudest, most inconsiderate prats I have ever seen. People who stroll down the crowded aisles with their carts.. on their cell phones, not caring whom they bump into. People who cut in front of you and part their cart right where you need to be and chat with friends and linger forever. People who will run over your toes with their carts with hardly an "excuse me". I don't know if this is a Redlands phenomonon or what. I sure hope not! But whenever I come in here, I leave slightly pissed off and sometimes even a little bruised! Visit the store - but be wary whilst shopping and mind your toes. read more

This Trader Joe's location never fails to make me feel uncomfortable if it isn't getting dirty looks for walking in with my black boyfriend it's a Caucasian lady being uncomfortably rude and full of hate while I'm trying to pay for my groceries and she's bagging them up. It's unfortunate because I love this store and if I'm not going to my preferred location I go to this one and have to travel almost 30 minutes for what? to receive this type of hate. I'm trying to be a better more balanced person. I typically come on yelp when I'm in a furious rage LMAO but I wanted to come on here and show some love to my Local TJ because it was nice. So todays mothers day, and everybody done came up out their quarantine homes to get flowers for mama. Everyones sold out! Including TJ but I just wanted to come on here and say thank you to the guy that answered the phone. He was so nice. During a time like this where everyones so stressed and high strung I A. appreciated how kind he was and B. appreciated how I didn't have to deal with a 5 minute automated message, as soon as the phone stopped ringing I was met with an actual human rather than an automated robot telling me things I could find on google. So if management sees this, give that man a raise, or at least a free thing of that bomb ass banana bread lmao. It just made my heart happy to come across a kind person. I also would like to add that TJs is doing a great job with this social distancing stuff. When everything first started they had a designated time for healthcare folk which I personally appreciated as an RN, AND whenever I go, the whole line situation is managed so well. They wipe down the carts etc. I'm just real impressed because other places have been driving the Rona struggle bus but TJs had handled all of this so gracefully. This is why I mess with y'all!!! It was a long long to get in but it moved quickly, they were very organized and had the carts completely sanitized as they were given out. The front lady was making sure ppl had hand sanitizer and their own masks on prior to entering. When we (my two small children and I) got to the front of the line she asked if I had a list compiled that she could take a picture of to do my shopping for me so that the kids didn't have to go inside. It was the nicest gesture and absolutely made my day, although we all had masks I still didn't want to bring the kids in so it worked out beautifully. I am really disappointed this morning with this location. I have been going here during the pandemic and they had the best social distancing practices in place as well as disinfecting carts and baskets. I went today and had to leave my groceries that I placed in one of the Isles, prior to leaving I stopped by the managers section and informed them I left my groceries because I did not feel comfortable at their store because of their very relaxed practices that are now in place. It's unfortunate that this store has relaxed their safety standards for their employees and their customers. Unfortunately I heard the same holds true but I have not seen so far-the same has been said about the Cathedral city location. Maybe if a spike is shown in this area they put their practices back into place. read more

I love Trader Joe's! It's one of my most favorite stores. I just wish this location was much bigger and the isles wider it always just seems so stuffy with people practically crashing into each other at every corner. I'm sort of a fast shopper here I like to get my food and bounce. I'd love to be able to look at the cheese selection longer though! Seriously, let me shop, damn. So other than that, their selection of fresh produce and random things I enjoy like raw shelled hemp hearts for my smoothies are always in stock. Which makes me happy. Love this place... this is my go to grocery spot. Lots of items to chose from... mainly speciality items or seasonal items. Of course always the staples that one needs. Organic and natural products are less expensive than what you find at the grocery store and it's better quality. Except some of the eggs... I prefer farm eggs or the orangy yolks. However best coconut milk ice cream ever! Amazing array of cheese and wines. Delicious chocolate, quick frozen or prepared meal options... quirky items you can't find anywhere else. I would say this is best suited for a single person, a couple, a small family, or someone who is looking for a specialty item. read more

I love trader joes! I've been going to them since they first opened up. If you purchase anything that isn't good they will give you a refund. I bought a turkey from them that had no meat on it-I paid $21 for it and it barely fed 1 person. I called the next day and they said bring the plastic wrap back to the store-I did this and I got a full refund. read more

Too bad Trader Joes in Redlands doesn't enforce or practice state mandated mask wearing by its customers or employee's. At least 7-8 customers with no masks on crawling right up on the majority of decent folks who were. Asked an associate if the store enforced the state mandated mask policy and she said no - we only recommend. Tried to explain that it wasn't an option but a state order and she just rolled her eyes. Which makes sense when I noticed a manager at the desk not wearing a mask and 4-5 other employees with masks so far down off their noses it was pointless. Clearly TJ's Redlands CA couldn't care less about its customers health and safety, much less its employee's. Such a simple thing - but obviously too much to ask at this Trader Joes. read more

A couple of weeks ago, I went by Trader Joe's to pick up some things. There was a line out front, a person disinfecting carts, and no way I was going to get in and out quick. I also figured that like at many stores, I'd take the time to get in, and not find what I was looking for. FAST FORWARD to yesterday... with Covid-19 finally being taken verrry seriously by most (including me!). I realized how impatient I'd been, AND how really forward thinking the staff at Trader Joe's was. I was back yesterday and got into the line. EVERYBODY was cordial, patient and friendly. The TJ's staff kept it well orchestrated, letting one person in for every one that departed. I got in after about ten minutes (not bad...), and found virtually everything I'd come for. Folks inside were receptive and helpful, and I also appreciated the signs posted around the store to remind us to be considerate of other people, and maybe avoid the urge to hoard. So this is just a shout-out to the very good people at Trader Joe's, and a big Thank You for being so considerate and caring! read more

One of my kids can't have artificial dyes, petroleum based preservatives, or artificial flavors in his food. Guess what? Trader Joe's doesn't sell foods with that crud in it. They even have a sign that brags about that. I keep reading the ingredient labels anyhow, and so far it looks like they're serious about it. This location is (maybe?) a bit smaller than others I've been into, but you'll still get that famous TJ service and find most of what you're looking for. The parking lot can be sort of a wreck, though, since it's shared with VONS and a Lebanese restaurant and I think Office Depot or Staples... Anyhow, it's a busy lot. Don't forget to bring your reusable bags. I feel like they should give you a small credit (10¢ or something) for using them, but whatever. You can still feel good about saving the trees. read more

It's really just for those specific items you want that you can't get anywhere else. I went here on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. I will be honest, shopping at this particular location gives me anxiety (even during the quietest hours) because it's such an oddly shaped store, the isles aren't very wide, and everyone is tiptoeing around each other but too afraid to say "excuse me." I constantly feel like I'm in someone's way here, and I surely can't be the only one who feels like this when shopping at this store. Aside from having to meditate through my shopping experience, they always have exciting new items on their shelves, the prices are reasonable, and generally, things are "fresh enough." There have been quite a few times where I've seen wilted and bruised produce, and the expiration dates on a lot of the breads are often a day or two after I actually buy it, so things tend to go moldy fast. But if I'm shopping to pick up some things for a meal that I will eat the same day, my first stop is always Trader Joe's. The staff are generally pretty friendly too...but there was a time where I ignorantly asked if they carried paper plates because I was having a BBQ, and the girl literally scoffed at the question like "HOW DARE YOU?!" I get that TJ's is trying to be environmentally friendly, I'm all for it...but there's no need to be pretentious about it. read more

Trader Joes really is an awesome place to shop if you're looking to find something new that you likely won't find at a lot of other big name retail grocery stores. They have a surprisingly large selection and carry the traditional items you would find at most stores plus a lot more. Their produce is always fresh and delicious, and they offer a large selection of organic as well as gluten free foods. I've tried countless different things they sell and so far they've all been amazing. Staff is always very friendly and more than willing to assist in anyway they can as well. read more

I am giving this store and the employees a 5 star because I have been shopping at the Redlands Trader Joe's for many years and I have always ALWAYS experienced great customer service. BUT, the last few times I have shopped, I've run into an employee named Bernadette and if I could give her a ONE star I would. She is not friendly at all. I've asked her general questions as far as where a product would be found (because it was moved since the last time I bought it). She is extremely rude and cold, practically rolls her eyes answering questions. She is not the type of employee I'm used to interacting with at Trader Joe's so it's very surprising. My 6 year old son even asked me why she was so mean. I only shop at Trader Joes's so I usually shop a few times a week and have never had a problem with any of the employees EVER. They go out of their way to conversate and to interact so like I mentioned I'm pretty surprised with my run ins with Bernadette. One of our staple locations for buying groceries, in spite of its small size it contains easily half of the items we regularly purchase. Produce is pretty reasonably priced and of good quality, there's a neat array of tasty and unique dips and sauces, and the sparkling water here is probably the best of any grocery store. We tend to go through it like, well, like it's water! It's nearly impossible to go wrong with the frozen prepared meals and they're a great option for when you just don't have the time or imagination for dinner in half an hour from now! I usually don't arrive with a list long enough to necessitate a cart, but if I did I'd much rather carry two baskets, since it does not take more than a few people with carts in there to bring about grid-lock. In addition you're probably better off not bringing along the little kiddos if at all possible. Most of the cashiers are super-cool and friendly as we've all come to expect from T.J.'s, though oddly enough if one happens not to be, I've found that he or she is simply quiet and unresponsive, even to my greeting. Feast or famine in that department. All in all a great place to go for most of your noshing needs. Haven't scared me away yet! read more

I shopped at the Redlands Trader Joe's today during the Wednesday 8-9 senior hour and it was the worst shopping experience I have ever had in a store ever! The store was unhealthfully packed with old people like me and there was like a grouchy cloud over all of them, even the employees. No one was courteous, no one smiled and one old man actually complained that I was contaminating the pkgs of salmon by finding one I liked and not just taking the top one! People like that should stay home and have their groceries delivered. The employees were also very unfriendly and unhelpful. I think this store needs to hire a Walmart greeter and give their employees raises or bonuses for kindness. read more

Today I wouldn't say that Trader Joe's let me down but in the past four month I have multiplied my shopping her by ten fold because I feel so safe in their implementation of mask and social distancing protocols, but today after having to do a brief on campus work where I had to give a weeks notice to spend a half a day at my works physical location upon arrival I was hugely disappointed multiple workers not wearing mask and completely unaware of any social distancing nomenclature, most were oblivious of a global pandemic, and after I left to Trader Joe's Redlands big smile this is the place that's making a difference, walk in and immediately notice someone touching everything, I hold back any comments, next a young man with a bandanna around his neck not over his face I motion to him to cover his face he responds no way man he say you got yours on you are safe, I tell him "It is not in numbers, but in unity, that our great strength lies. Trader Joe's on Orange St., In Redlands. I have mixed feelings about this particular location because of a variety of different experiences I have encounter while shopping for products that aren't usually on the shelves in S.B. For example, I needed almond meal because I was going to make macaroons. So I figured if any retail grocery store would carried almond meal that it would be Trader Joe's. plus I went online to make sure they had it in store & they did, so off I went. When I first got there I looked around to see if I could find it myself, however, I was unsuccessful so I went & asked an employee who was stocking the shelves. He proceeds to point me in the direction I had already checked so he came and looked for me but he too was unsuccessfully. Next he solicits the help of another stock worked who didn't want to be bothered & she said that if we hadn't found it on that aisle then they must not carry it. I inform her that according to their web site they do carry it. So there we were, all 3 of us. Just looking for almond meal. Finally, I found it a half hour later, i couldn't believe I wasted a half hour of my time looking for almond meal which i felt was do to the lack of knowledge on the behalf of Trader Joe's employees. Okay, I don't care how "great" people think the prices are, and how "fresh" everything seems to be...I don't think I'll ever step foot inside this Trader Joe's again. First of all, it IS expensive. But maybe I'm just used to shopping @ a grocery store. I was NOT about to pay like $5.00 for a small thing of strawberries. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but the prices are just not worth it. Second, did I miss a sign outside somewhere saying "please be as rude as f*cking possible to every other patron inside this store"???
