I got gas around 8:40 AM, and at 8:46 AM I received a notification from my bank that my card had been declined for a $150 fuel purchase because of an incorrect PIN. It wasn't my transaction. I later found out that someone had placed a card-skimming device (transponder) on the gas pump to steal card information. Unfortunately, my card was one of the ones that was compromised. If you're getting gas there, please be careful. It's a good idea to monitor your bank account closely after using the pumps and report any suspicious activity immediately.

My complaint is this: I don't know who the supervisor, manager, or person in charge is, but they really need to pay more attention to where they place items--and if the store makes a mistake, they should honor the displayed price.

The side of chili beans was an 8 oz container filled to the brim with steamy hot ground beef and kidney beans. Great flavor and texture. My daughter had the tri tip sandwich on a garlic buttered roll. The sandwich was jammed packed with thin sliced tri tip. She has the macaroni and cheese. She loved it. They have beer on tap so I had to get a liquid candy. It was a solid meal. Will have to return with the rest of the family.

It was her birthday this week and while I'm stuck at home recuperating from a medical thing, I had helped out Dear Hubby by doing research online for who would have gluten free cake near us. Vons and Ralphs came up with options. Ralphs is not as convenient, and I like this Vons store, so I suggested he go there. Once he did, he had trouble finding anyone who works in the store who knew where said cakes would be. Even at the bakery counter they sent him off in a vague direction. He wasn't finding the gluten free baked goods at all until just before leaving the store and heading elsewhere, he saw a supervisor. Once he explained what he was looking for and how he'd been to different locations in the store without success, the supervisor walked him to the correct area. The supervisor also made a point to tell the bakery clerk where the right spot was, too. I'm sure it's frustrating for management at stores to have employees who either haven't been trained properly or who don't retain information that would make for a better customer experience. At that point in DH's description of his visit, I would have given three stars. However, the strawberry cream layer cake looked very yummy once he bought it and brought it home. And, best of all, our friend loved it! That was a special treat for her as she wouldn't normally go out any buy such a cake for herself. That, along with a homemade card, made her feel special. For that, Vons will get a bump to four stars. Still, it would be helpful to have staff members be familiar with special request kind of foods - like plant-based cheeses, gluten-free baked goods, etc. Just saying.

Vons in both Simi Valley and Moorpark have been steadily declining most notably in the last five years. Both their selection and service has become very sparse. I for one do not like the obvious corporate decision to herd shoppers to the "self checkout" line. Now they are down to one live person available for checkout, it's just pathetic. The straw that broke the camels back was poor service I received when I purchased a Macys gift card at the Vons in Simi Valley on Cochran Street. They informed me that the gift card was tampered with and the $200 dollars on it was stolen. They contacted Macys gift card department "GC" and had me wait on phone and deal with Macys poor service. Sorry Vons, I will be shopping at Gelsons going forward, although they are more expensive, at least I will get better service and nicer cleaner environment to shop at. Now, as for Macys, just like most of big brand stores these days, customer service is non existent. My simple claim for $200 dollars could have been resolved within a week. But after exchanging emails with someone named Sean, at Macys GC department, and complying with what they asked for, (photos of the card in question and the receipt given at point of purchase) he responded twice that the receipt in the photo did not match with the card sold. After i informed him that store managers confirmed that was the receipt and card that was paid for, and he could contact them (store number included) to verify that, he just replied that the receipt was not a match. Sorry Macys, we will be shopping at Kohl's going forward.

I had to take a moment to recognize Samer at Trader Joe's in Simi Valley for providing some of the best customer service I've received in a very long time! I went in today to purchase flowers and had quite a few bouquets. Samer immediately offered me a bucket to make carrying them easier. I asked if the bucket was complimentary, and when he said yes, I said, "Oh wow, okay! Do they come with water?" Without hesitation, he said he could definitely put some water in it for me. He ran to the back and added some water to help keep my flowers fresh on the drive home--especially important since it was over 100 degrees outside! It may seem like a small gesture, but it made such a big impression on me. I've purchased flowers there before that unfortunately didn't make it through the heat, and when that happened, the manager was incredibly helpful and replaced them without any problem. Trader Joe's is already known for great customer service, and every visit I've had at the Simi Valley location has been pleasant. But Samer truly went above and beyond today. His kindness, attentiveness, and willingness to do something extra for a customer is exactly what exceptional customer service looks like. Thank you, Samer! This evening, I encountered the most professional actions of a manager that I have ever seen. When I entered the Trader Joes, here in Simi Valley, the Trader Joe's Manager was telling a customer who refused to wear the face mask properly, that she would need to wear it correctly, or she would not be allowed to shop. The Manager maintained a very professional attitude and explained to the customer, that if she did not feel comfortable wearing the mask properly, he would be more than happy to do her shopping for her, while she waited outside, but that for the safety of the customers and his employees, she would need to follow the safety guidelines of wearing the mask, and wearing it properly. As many times as I have seen, in other stores, irresponsible customers walking around, either not wearing masks at all or wearing them ignorantly down below their noses, while the store employees and managers ignored these individuals that refuse to follow the safety guidelines of this pandemic, I am absolutely so thankful and grateful for the Trader Joe's manager this evening that did the right thing. Thank you so much! You are wonderful and so much appreciated. read more

Love this TJ, have been shopping here for almost 25 years. Natalie, Chance, and more have all been so personable and amazing. That being said, when I went in to shop in the evening (which is when I usually shop) I felt like I had an invisibility cloak on. Nobody asked me if I needed help, and when walking by crew members nobody even said "Hi" Then to top it all off, I went to checkout & it was as if I should check myself out. Crew member named Sophie was sitting on top of the checkout area as if it was her kitchen counter and didn't even seem to consider to help us. It wasn't till I turned around and asked Crew member Cameron if he could help us that we could get checked out. Wasn't asked if I wanted a bag for my 3 items I could've easily carried, instead was charged and assumed I wanted the bag. Hope the night crew can see some improvement as we truly do love this store. read more

My favorite store! Not only are the staff actually happy (not "fake" happy) and helpful, and even act happy to see you, the food selection is fantastic! The fresh flowers are the best quality for the money. The wine and beer section is always boasting cool new brands that I haven't even seen at Bev Mo. Great place! I recommend for those interested in something more traditional than the mainstream eating public. And most often the pricing is actually better on some more common items; eggs, milk, meats. Also for those lactose or interested in many other alternatives this is the place for you. I've been shopping at Trader Joe's since they opened their store in Sherman Oaks in 1973. I also sold them cheese and lunchmeat in the late 70s. We now shop mostly at the Trader Joe's in Simi Valley where we live. I love TJ's. read more

That's strange--because the app didn't show it as picked up until after 9 PM. I asked him who picked it up, and all he said was, "I don't know." No effort to help. No accountability. I asked, "Shouldn't you check ID or a confirmation email before handing over someone's order?" Again--"I don't know." No responsibility, no concern, just a blank stare. This is unacceptable. If you're handing out people's paid orders with zero verification, what else are you careless with? I was trying to support local, but after this experience, never again. This is not just poor service--it's dishonest and unsafe. Avoid this store at all costs. I wouldn't even trust buying food here. What a shame.

However I do feel confused about the "ready to bake options" for their chicken because they show up on the Delivery apps as ready to bake so you would assume they would be frozen. However, they are always delivered as hot items so... Not sure if this is just here or a general 711 thing where when you order the ready to bake, they always come cooked rather than come as frozen.

She also wasn't pushy with sales, just letting me know which new products were available. Didn't know they had a coffee scotchmallow (for a limited time) and appreciated her letting me know! I think I may have liked that more than the og scotchmallow. Easy parking and excellent service, I definitely recommend this See's Candies location :)
