As someone who has been to multiple Trader Joe's locations from Southern California all the way up the coast to Seattle, I can say this is the location with the worst employees ever. This red hair guy (James L) at the cash register is the rudest employee I have come in contact with and I know Trader Joe's trains employees to be engaging. He did not say one single word during the whole transaction - not even hi or bye or thanks and did not even look at us. He treated the customers in front of us the exact same way too. Not sure if he is racist or just rude to everyone. Very disappointing and I will not return to this location. The traffic in the parking lot is a mess anyways. read more

I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's. They had an older location in a much smaller space on Sunnyvale-Saratoga, with a smaller dumpy looking parking lot. It was great when they moved into the old Borders location at this shopping center around the corner at El Camino & Mathilda. This is a much nicer location, and the shopping center and parking lot are well maintained. Parking is not a problem during off hours on weekdays. The spaces at this parking lot are decently sized (unlike at other TJ's locations where the parking spaces are more cramped). It can get very busy on weekends. I love the people who work at this store. Most of them are very friendly, and they will help you find things or answer questions with alacrity. There is a welcoming vibe here that I don't get at some other non-TJ's markets. This is a good size store. Not too small. Yet not so large that is becomes difficult to navigate. They have year round staples, plus some monthly or seasonal items so you'll always find something new at the store. Restroom available in the back left corner of the store. read more

Coronavirus days: Warning that they are limiting the amount of people in the store at a time. There is a line literally around the block where people are standing six feet apart. Have been in the line for 10 minutes and moved 3 feet. They estimate 30 minutes to get into the store. Online groceries in this area is not an option so there is no choice. Good on Trader Joe's to enforce this, but it is irritating. Other than that, generally this store is good. It's quite small and usually busy but they have everything you need. And everyone who works here is very nice and helpful. read more

This location is always well stocked. They limit capacity of shoppers within the store. They have clear markings on the floor where to stand to give each other 6 feet apart while you wait to enter the store. The line always wraps around the building, but it moves fast. The individuals greeting you at the door are always upbeat and offer a cart if needed. The customer service when I have asked for an item has been helpful. The lines to pay are not clearly marked. I think they can work on a better system to mark where to form a line and which lanes are open to avoid the confusion and mess. The cashiers have baggers but they are not always efficient specially if they are chatting it up with the cashier. In the interactions I have had with the cashiers they have always been dry (barely a greeting). Hello or Welcome goes a long way! The parking lot is a complete mess no matter what time you go. They offer a wide variety of items and I enjoy that. I love their sourdough bread, blueberry muffins, and chocolate covered pretzels. Trader Joe's in Sunnyvale was OK, but I was not impressed. The produce was fresh and plentiful. The rib-eye steak was reasonably priced and pretty good. This was my first time at Trader Joe's and the employees were helpful finding items and answering my questions. Also I liked that the store was of modest size. The factors that left me wanting were several. The chicken that I purchased and cooked had a mediocre taste that was inferior to chicken sold at Sprouts and Safeway. I was hugely disappointed that Trader Joe's had no fresh mussels, shrimp, clams, or scallops. Trader Joe's did not even have any of those items frozen. Also I was disappointed that Trader Joe's does not have a butcher; sometimes I like the butcher to provide an explicit number of a meat item, such as pork chops or lamb chops. Instead I had to buy the pre-packaged number of chops that the store decided on. I thought that Trader Joe's cost for produce and meats was higher than at Sprouts or Safeway. That I was not impressed with Sunnyvale Trader Joe's surprised me because several of my female friends had recommended it. read more

This is my closest Trader Joe's so I am there almost every week! The store is clean and well-stocked and the customer service is great. Most Trader Joe's locations hide a stuffed animal in the store for kids to hunt for and get a prize. I'm rating 4 stars because this store hasn't brought back Sunny the Toucan since COVID hit, and we miss that. None of the TJ's I've visited have reinstated the samples and free tiny cups of coffee since COVID hit, and I miss that too, but this is the only store I've visited that also hasn't brought back the stuffed animal. read more

This Trader Joe's location has long been my favorite because the associates are always so friendly and helpful. So it was no surprise that the associates sprang into action last week when the lights in the store suddenly went out. I suspect the construction crew outside the store accidentally snipped a wire, because the whole shopping center lost electricity. The TJ Associates sprang into action. They calmly alerted shoppers to move towards the checkout area, as the auxiliary power would only last 10 minutes, then the registers would shut down. They posted associates at the door to prevent other shoppers from coming in and being disappointed they couldn't check out. One customer had an overflowing cart. There wasn't enough time to check out her purchases, so they took her entire cart into the refrigerated/freezer area and made arrangements for her to pick up the goods later in the day. Throughout the event, the associates were always smiling, always helpful, creative in their solutions and very professional. Kudos to TJs! read more

I rushed after work and got here by 8pm since they close at 9pm to avoid the workers restocking their items. Guess what? Every hile already had multiple workers restocking their items an hour before they closed. It's a mess, having to gently walk by workers and boxes on the floor to grab an item. I get it's part of the job and everyone wants to go home but it's a inconvenience. Workers don't even say excuse me or anything, they just brush by you. I'm not sure why this can't be saved til 15 minutes before they close or maybe after? It's just an inconvenience, to the customer and worker. Some people might even get anxiety by this. Wish this problem can get resolved especially for the customers who don't have a choice to go at a certain hour. read more

I love Trader Joe's grocery store! I don't understand why this one has low rating. It's spacious when you enter and lots of walking room. I usually don't go during peak hours. I have done so in the past and parking is tight! Inside the grocery store, as soon as you walk in, there is a large section of fruits, veggie, and flowers. Also, a long selection of all type of nuts & dried fruits. A diary section with lactose milk! Alcoholic beverages are across from snacks section such as popcorn and chips. A good frozen section with pre-made meals, ice cream, cheesecake etc. They're quick with service. I'm always in and out of this place. Definitely my go to for grocery! read more

I still like the store, but... Just got another TJ ribeye steak that was worse that the real chuck steak and tasted downright awful. It makes me believe that they are using the meat glue trick to assemble something that looks like ribeye but is glued together from bits of meat. I will never buy it again, as well as their curry sauce which tasted horrible, and sushi which was the worst ever. Everything was extremely organized and clean! Staff sanitized carts and had an organized system of letting people in and out. There is plenty of items and not a huge long line in the morning. Checkout was efficient as well. There is a glass screen separating customers and workers. Customers wait in an area until it is time to pay. I got to this trader joes ever so often. The customer service here is great and the store is very clean and organized. There are plenty of staff ready and willing to help. The only downside to this place is the parking, its absolutely terrible. Plus someone dinged my car with a shopping cart the last time i was there. The reason i could tell was the red paint from the shopping cart was still on my car. This really isnt trader joes fault though. Either way this is a great location with plenty of helpful staff. You know what sucks about Trader Joe's the most? Parking. Why does parking at every Trader Joe's suck so much? I'll answer that for you: because they have good food and everybody likes good food. What sets this Trader Joe's apart though, is the bad hummus wrap I bought. The disappointment I felt was probably the same disappointment my parents felt when I dropped out of college for the 2nd time. I eventually finished college and earned a BA in communications, but you know what I didn't finish? That shitty hummus wrap. So where does the bad hummus wrap disappointment go? Who do I direct that to? Does it go towards the hummus wrap? No, that's crazy talk. Does it go towards the worker who made the hummus wrap? Maybe, but I doubt they intentionally made a bad hummus wrap. Am I obliged to take my own disappointment and direct towards myself? Possibly. I'll be honest about who I'd really like to direct the disappointment towards: the guy who rang me up. Didn't say hi, didn't look at me, didn't say shit. But really, it's not his fault. I don't know who's fault it was. I wish the parking was better though - I would have taken the bad hummus wrap back and gotten something else. read more

Once, I tried grocery shopping Sunday at 6 pm. Haha awful idea. If you're flexible, 7 or 8 pm is way better. No crowds, no lines. You get to browse Trader Joe's at your leisure and check out all the things mentioned in their Fearless Flyer. Some people might say that Trader Joe's is expensive and uses a lot of packaging. I agree it's not inexpensive, but I like what they offer with the selection of nuts, frozen oatmeal, cookie butter, peanut butter and nut butters, eggs, bagged mixed greens and mostly the convenience of being located near home. I can make a trip just for ice cream! Costco stuff is indeed less expensive, but I don't have a membership and the closest one is at least 25 minutes away. So I choose Trader Joe's as my go to grocery store. Otherwise, I'd eat burgers and chicken strips at my work cafeteria! Customer service is rad too. They seem genuine with small talk at check out. I haven't had any of them be overly friendly, either, which makes me feel shopping there alone, too! Trader Joe's has gotten an upgrade! As of January 18, the Sunnyvale location is now operating in the Sunnyvale Plaza Shopping Center, in the building that Border's used to occupy. (So long Borders, it was fun for an era... before Amazon and all that.) I have mixed feelings about this move. On the positive side, the store is now 50% larger and has wide aisles and lots of space. The same great selection of packaged items is still here at the same prices, with the exception of "Two Buck Chuck" ($2 wine), which is now "Two Forty-nine Chuck" which totally axes the name! Stupid inflation. The produce section is still limited with only so-so prices. Now on the downside, finding parking can now be a tussle. At the old location I never had problems finding a spot, but at the new one I barely managed, and the store wasn't even that busy. That's because the new location has fewer spaces, and shares them with P.F. Chang's and Starbucks, amongst others. It's a nice clean store, but only time will tell whether I and others get fed up with the parking situation. On a busy night (and Trader Joe's has plenty of those), I dread to think of what kind of a madhouse the parking lot will be. But hey, if you like demolition derbies, bring your camera and some popcorn, sit back and enjoy the fun! read more

I'm not sure why this Trader Joe's gets such a bad rap, probably because of factors out of its control ... like a terrible parking lot and awful drivers. When I came here on Sunday to pick up a few things for dinner, a prius had somehow ... forcefully punted itself into a parking space, heavily damaging 3 other cars in the process and wedging itself between a tree and a light pole. How do you even do that? How fast did you try to get into a parking spot? Seriously! Aside from the parking, the staff here are friendly, and they are always well stocked in everything I'm looking for despite it being a Sunday night or some other time when the grocery shopping fever is high.
