We tried quite a few dishes The surprising best appetizer was the pomelo salad, it's a nice twist with the pomelo being sweet and tired, and a good light start to a very heavy, but good meal The lobster palabok had really strong lobster flavor, rich and filling Kinilaw (Filipino Style Ceviche) had an interesting take on the ceviche, more sweet than the traditional sour ceviche.

I visited Tradicionale for a business happy hour/ lunch. It was my first time trying Filipino food and I had no complaints at all. The service was spot on and the ambiance was nice. Would definitely recommend.

Tradicionale was fantastic ! Even without a reservation, we were warmly welcomed by a friendly Filipino host who kindly found us seats at the bar. Our Brazilian waitress was incredibly helpful and recommended the sizzling sisig, the luscious kare-kare and the baby octopus. She was absolutely right! Every dish was packed with authentic flavor and was absolutely delicious. The warm hospitality and outstanding cuisine will have us come back again.

Booked this place about 2-3 days in advance because another reservation fell through for my fiances birthday. We really wanted to treat our friends to Filipino food Kamayan style. I called and spoke with someone who said they can take the reservation and notified them we wanted to do kamayan style. No further information was given, I was just told they can prob do it but have to confirm with manager. I called back again since I did not receive any confirmation and he said that we were all good. Upon arriving, we were seated at a table and it was clear we weren't doing Kamayan style. I clarified and spoke with the manager and I was told that apparently I was called x3 times and since they did not hear anything from me, no kamayan bc it's a prepaid thing. Attached is a screenshot of my phone records and as you can see I do not have 3 missed calls from anyone. There also was no voicemail placed It just shows my outgoing calls to tradicionale making the initial reservation. Moving forward, we all ordered our food and although there are no complaints about the food, there were a bunch of mistakes with the service. One guest received the wrong tea, another guest requested the egg in his Berkshire tocino to be on the side bc he doesn't like eggs, and to top it off 3 pilsners were added to our bill that we did not order (pretty sure it was the other party who ordered and it was put onto our tab). Pretty disappointed with this service given the food was really enjoyable. Honestly the manager could've been nicer when I was asking about the kamayan style and he treated me as if I was the one who failed to communicate. Even though the waitress did make mistakes, she took full accountability and was a really nice woman.

I came by this place a few months ago with a friend for her belated birthday dinner! Amazing filipino inspired cuisine! The staff is very attentive and very helpful. The food was amazing - lobster palabok was my personal favorite! The cocktails here are creative and unique. Highly recommend coming here!

As a Filipino, I am a harsher critic when I try Filipino cuisine. The flavors in the kinilaw and sisig were great, consistent with home. The sisig was crispy on the edges as it's cooked on a cast iron. Great spice. No egg on the sisig but rather a drizzle of kewpie mayo on top. The kinilaw is different here, but in a good way! The chunks of fish are bigger than normal but nothing overwhelming. The spices in the kinilaw provide a great kick. The lamb kaldaretta was okay, nothing to write home about. The lamb itself is moist and delicious! The sauce is buttery but I don't get a lot of the authentic flavors from the sauce - a bit overpowered by the lamb. Ube bibingka and ice cream were great! Service here was great and prompt. The atmosphere is moody and relaxed. I enjoyed my time at Tradicionale

I wasn't able to take much pictures this time since we spent most of our time just chatting while eating. We were with great company. The food is really, really great! It's on the pricier scale, but that's their target market. This is not your Mom-and-Pop "Turo-Turo" spot. This is a upscale sit down spot with a date or a group of friends expecting top tier food. The place is very posh. Not pretentious, but definitely not a dive spot. It's comfortable without looking cheap. The owner and head chef is really friendly, as well as his staff. This spot is worth coming back to.

Elevated traditional Filipino-Spanish flavors! We came on a Tuesday night with a reservation and sat in the cozy back section. It was pretty dark but that's part of the vibe. (I had to get hubs and my brother to light some of my food pictures with their phones. Real teamwork.) Cocktails are split between Filipino-inspired and American classics. My favorites: Pinya (refreshing, not too sweet) and Anghang ("spicy" in Tagalog, perfectly balanced). The Fili-Flip leans dessert-style: rich and creamy, fun to try once but a little too heavy for me to order again. The servers actually know their stuff and give honest recommendations. Food highlights: *KINILAW: bright, tangy, perfect. GET THIS!!!! *SISIG: crispy pork hash, salty and addictive. I would get this again. *DINUGUAN TACOS: rich, spicy, unforgettable. *LOBSTER PALABOK: meaty, tasty, but not heavy. *PANCIT CANTON: comfort noodles done right. Hot pork lechon on top. *DESSERTS: TURON with ube/vanilla ice cream and mochi-ish UBE BIBINGKA, both great. We left full, happy, and rolled back to Penn Station. Tradicionale stays true to traditional flavors while giving them a thoughtful, elevated edge. I'm still dreaming about the Kinilaw and plotting round two. NOTES/TIPS: * In Chelsea, about a 10-minute walk from Penn Station and totally worth it. * Reserve on Resy. Optional coat check. Though it's a bit serious-looking in the back, it's all casual.

There aren't many Filipino restaurants in Manhattan, especially an elevated one with Spanish influences as well. The space is beautifully decorated with a sexy and dark interior. While the space is more fancy, it was a pleasant surprise to see so many Filipino lolas dining here as well. It's got that traditional and modern twist. It is recommended to order one large dish or two tapas for each person to be shared family-style. We ordered the Kinilaw ($20), Spicy Prawns Alavar ($27), Pancit Canton with Lechon ($30), and a side of White Rice ($4). Both tapa dishes were excellent, especially with the sauce. I did find the prawns to be overpriced though for only 3 pieces despite the delicious curry sauce. Kinilaw is a Filipino ceviche using kalamansi, which gives it a bright citrus note covering the cubes of steelhead trout. It's very similar to salmon, but a bit milder (I had to research this a bit because I really thought it was salmon). As for the pancit, this was filling with good portion of noodles. I only wish there were more than 4 pieces of crispy lechon though. I also had the Girl's Dinner ($21) cocktail to pair with the food. It had a flavor that was so hard to describe as I was expecting it to be more of a pandan drink. It also came with a few pieces of crab crackers, which was fun. This was a unique drink, but probably wouldn't get it again. The tables are a bit cramped and close to each other. Plus, service was a bit slow at time as they are still pretty new. At the end of our meal, one of the owners did come by to checkin on us. She was extremely sweet and felt like family. Overall, all the food was delicious and would love to check out the rest of the menu with more people. It's pretty cool that they also offer Kamayan dinners here too for big parties, which is always fun.

If you've never had Filipino ube rice cake, let this be your sign! This NEW filipino-spanish bistro in Chelsea is giving filipino classics a modern, upscale twist. I went with a friend who has spent some years in the Philippines and she confirmed everything was DELICIOUS and LEGIT. We got all the filipino favorites, including the national cocktail Weng Weng, household staple Kang Kong, and traditional dessert Bibingka. The team poured so much love and thoughts into every course they serve. The atmosphere is intimate and welcoming with a dim lighting, perfect for a date night. *Pomelo Salad $18 * My friend and I agreed if we could only eat one salad for the rest of our lives, this would be it. It tasted so tropical because of the coconut-y, spicy vinaigrette with fresh pomelo and lychee. The shredded cabbage and corn nuts added some crunch as well. *Kinilaw Filipino Style Ceviche $18 ** This filipino ceviche was so unique. The coconut-based sauce had a tangy and spicy flavor that reminded me of tom yum. It also came with a generous amount of salmon. *Sizzling Short Rib $52 This slow-braised short rib was served on a pan with a thick gravy and shiitake mushrooms. The meat was tender with threads that nearly melted in my mouth. *Pork Humba $30 * *Garlic Rice $6 * If you're getting the pork, make sure to add the garlic rice. The pork belly was glazed in a sweet and savory sauce that leaned a bit salty on its own, but paired beautifully with the rice. *Kang Kong Bagoong $14 Sauteed spinach with shrimp paste, but wow, sometimes the simplest dishes hit the hardest. *Ube Bibingka Our server surprised us with this warm bibingka, made with ube, salted egg yolk, shredded coconut, and condensed milk. The soft, pudding-like texture made it even more comforting!

True rating: 4.5 stars We went to Tradicionale on a weeknight for dinner and was surprised to see it packed! It's great to see that and we were seated right away. It's bigger on the inside than i expected, but is similarly structured as other restaurants in Chelsea that are longer with a nice bar in the middle. Decor was very on theme! We got two drinks, the Fili-Flip and the Pinya. The Fili-Flip is more desserty, but loved the ube flavor of it with the foam. The pinya margarita was great and mezcal forward which we enjoyed. Food-wise, we overall liked most of what we got with one dish that we probably wouldn't get again. It was somewhat coursed out where tapas were served first and all main dishes together, family style. - Dinuguan Tacos are a MUST try. We really enjoyed this fusion dish and it was a great balance of flavors. - Pancit Canton with Lechon was amazing. It had a very traditional canton taste and the lechon was nice and crispy. Would have wished it was more chopped up to integrate into the dish though vs on top! - Sizzling Short Rib was good in its peppery sauce. It cut easily like butter which was great, but we didn't feel like it was worth its hefty price tag. The only other thing that I'd dock some points off was service. It was overall friendly, but we felt it was a bit touch and go for us. It seemed like the servers knew some of the other patrons and spent a lot of time with them that it took close to 20 mins for us to be asked for our order when we had been ready. Water was offered to us right away so i wouldn't say service was horrible though, and they checked on us more throughout the evening. Despite the pains of still ironing out a handful of things, I'd absolutely go back and try the rest of the menu!

Very lucky to get a reservation at this newly opened restaurant featuring Filipino cuisine! Lots of interesting cocktails and the menu has small plates/appetizers along with some main entrees. As a Filipina, I was eager to see if the taste would be more traditional or 'modernized'. I was surprised that it had a wonderful mix of both. The surprise dish for me was the ceviche as it had a wonderful mix of seafood and a tasty heat that made it memorable. The sisig was good as was the pork belly/lechon pancit. We would have eaten a whole plate of the lechon!! Crispy pata (braised pork knuckle) was wonderful, especially with the accompanying sauces. And while there are many ways to make biningka, their cake was tasty and shareable! Service was attentive with multiple team members assisting to monitor the flow. Lots more I would try so looking forward to supporting them more!

    Salad was a clear favorite!

Amazing experience at Tradicionale! Savored, loved and enjoyed the tapas style sharing, pairings prepared and recommended. Our host made our visit memorable and a special one with friends. We ordered several dishes to share and enjoy - from the palabok, to prawn and mussel sinigang, kare kare to the turon for dessert - to the interesting and decadent libations. Maraming salamat for a memorable and special dinner while meeting the sous chef! Thank you!

We tried a variety of dishes and each one was a hit (from the croquettes to the octopus to the paella). One member of our group doesn't usually like seafood and thought the octopus was delicious! The table we sat at was quite large, and I think it could have fit a few more people. The staff was friendly, and the lighting wasn't too dark, nor was it too loud. While I liked the atmosphere, I found the food, or rather specifically the tapas, to be not good at best, while the main dishes were better but also ranged in quality. The fact that the tapas we ordered were pretty closely priced to the mains means I would recommend the mains only based on portion and taste alone. To drink, a bunch of us split a bottle of wine from their large and pretty reasonably priced selection. The first tapas that arrived was something that I could not eat. This was the Pulpo Zarautz for $32, listed as octopus with garlic and merken seasoning served over mashed baby potatoes. The dish was small, and people thought it was OK as they found the pieces of octopus a tad chewy. They liked the spices but were surprised that the potatoes were a bit cool. The $24 Gambas Al Ajillo, with slow-cooked prawns, white wine, EVOO, garlic, and mermen, was alright. There was a handful of shrimp, and they were decently cooked, but the "ajillo," or rather, the garlic, was very light. Therefore, I found it a bit bland, which is almost never the case for this dish. I wouldn't recommend this based on price and flavor. Last and least of the tapas was the $22 Tortilla De Patatas, listed simply as a Spanish omelette. There was an option to add chorizo for $2 more, which we did. Along with the omelette, this also arrived with a few sauces and some pieces of crunchy bread, which were the highlight, as the omelette wasn't good either. The texture of the omelette was very different than any other Spanish omelette I've ever had. It was quite soft with a bit of chew, with a mild chorizo flavor. Along with the greenish color, it wasn't exactly appetizing. I wouldn't recommend this at all, but thankfully, that was the last tapas we ordered. My favorite of the main dishes was the Solomillo & Pebre for $28, listed as skirt steak topped with parsley and olive oil, with hand-cut fried potato and salad. While not the most tender, as it is a skirt steak, it was still well-flavored with the topping almost reminding me, to an extent, of a less oily version of chimichurri. The potatoes had a unique texture, being slightly crispy on the outside while remaining slightly soft in the middle. The salad on the side, which also arrived with one of our other mains, was a tasty mix and certainly more effort than a typical salad you find in many of these places. We also liked the $32 Costillas De Cerdito, with pork ribs in beer, mustard, and rosemary with hand-cut fried potato and salad. The pork ribs were flavorful, though I did find a bit of it to be a bit fatty, but some of that is expected with pork ribs. The mildly sweet and slightly rich sauce paired with the pork ribs. The same comments from before can be made about the potatoes and salad. Last was the OK Paella De Mariscos for $38, listed as rice cooked with shrimp, mussels, clams, prawns, and fresh saffron. The portion size was good, with a lot of mussels and clams in particular, and a handful of shrimp. Of the bite I had of the two large prawns, they were plump and juicy as well. However, the rice was both a bit bland and a tad mushy and felt a bit overcooked compared to many other paellas. There was some socarrat on the bottom as per usual, which was the best part. It's a bit difficult to rate this place. The spices, textures, and flavors were lacking from the overpriced tapas, and I honestly wouldn't recommend any of them. For the main dishes, they were tasty, but you can get a better-cooked skirt steak at many other places for a similar price. The ribs were decent, and the paella was just OK. If we only had the tapas, I probably would be giving this place a 1, but for the whole meal, an upper 2, rounded up.

As soon as I entered, I was greeted by the owner, Lorena. She was very cordial, attentive, gave magnificent recommendations, and added to the enjoyment of the meal. I started with a glass of Red Sangria and was blown away by the size. The glass was almost the size of the Bryant Park fountain, the Sangria was sweet and refreshing, and the fruit was abundant. I ordered two tapas: Croquetas de Jamon Serrano (Ham Croquettes) and the Albondigas (Meatballs). The croquettes were nicely presented, I enjoyed the sauces that adorned each croquette, they had a slightly crunchy outer layer, and the serving was four. The meatballs were amazing. Each ball was flavorful, the serving was EIGHT!, and the accompanying sauce was succulent and was enough to fill every piece of bread. For dessert, I had the EZ Flan. This Flan was LARGE enough to share, thick, and the sweet syrup at the bottom of the plate was delicious. The final item was a Cafe con Leche (Coffee with milk). EZ Paella skyrocketed to my #1 choice for tapas and cannot wait to return with friends, so they can echo my adoration of this eatery. P.S. - Please, do yourself a favor and read the history of EZ Paella, which is on the menu. They made it through COVID and have enjoyed consistent success, since.
