We have had this grill for a couple years now and have had problems from the START. This specific grill sends fire up through the auger and into the pellet bin. Traeger keeps you on the "text chat" for hours and has you do ALL of the research and repair work. We have spent hours upon hours doing our own diagnosis and repairs when they send the parts. It continues to send fire up the auger and the hopper catches fire. Finally they have given up and told us we are out of luck. They told us to clean the already clean grill and that "should help". I purchased a Meater Plus thermometer as a gift and needed to return it (unopened) since the recipient already had a Meat probe. I needed a Return Shipping Label to sent it back and get a refund. It's Been a Nightmare Return Shipping Label experience ! After 2 hours in total of Chat & Phone Support within a 7 day period, I finally get my Shipping Label emailed to me. I would never recommend buying this grill! We had issues from the very beginning. The pellets don't add any flavor and they are expensive. The grill requires setting temperatures at 500 degrees yet the food does not cook properly. It takes extensive time to reach the required temperature of 500 degrees and it took us over an hour and a half to cook a couple of pieces of meat and fish. The meat never crisps at shown in their advertisements. Overall, it takes 3-4 hours with reaching the proper heal level and getting the meat to a stage that you can eat it. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY TO GET THIS "FANCY" GRILL. You're better off with a simple electric grill for a fraction of the price. We dismantled it to pieces and threw it out! read more

I've had repeated issues with my Traeger and needed support multiple times. Most recently, a representative promised to send parts and follow up with a call--but she never did. She later claimed she called and even sent an unprofessional email. Apparently, Traeger employs liars. Due to bad weather, I couldn't work on the grill for months. The parts sat on the counter waiting for her call, which caused tension at home. I eventually moved them to the top of a storage bin, but during holiday cleanup, they were misplaced. Because this liar never followed up, I had to buy new parts and hire someone to finish the repair. Her dishonesty caused unnecessary delays, stress, and added costs. I finally got it fixed but no help from them, just from my pocketbook. Do not buy a Traeger. You can get a knockoff for a third of the price. The grill and customer service for the grill are excellent. But don't order any accessories. a) they told me they cancelled the order, but it came anyway; b) there's no return info in the box or on the website; c: i called their 800 number and it took the guy 30 minutes to get approval to send me return info; d) they don't give you anything other than an address in Salt Lake where you are to return stuff; and they don't pay for the shipping. If I could give Traeger a zero star, I would. Bought a brand new Timberline XL and it doesn't work. Doesn't even power on. When my husband called them, they said they'll send new wiring for him to put on. He has a bad back and cannot do the labor and Traeger won't do anything about it. Honestly, the grill I got, a Woodbridge Pro works great, except for their wireless meat probe, which sucked. But the reason for such a low rating is their customer service... more accurately their customer service system. I ordered the grill directly from Traeger.com, and it showed up 3 weeks late... 2 weeks after they told me it was with fedex for delivery the next day... well after many calls to Traeger, it finally came nearly a month after I ordered it. After my first wireless meat probe that came with the grill failed (after 2 uses), I ordered a new one directly from their website through my Traeger online account (figuring it wasn't worth the hassle utilizing their warranty due to my prior difficult experiences with their customer service). It never arrived. Even though it still showed up as "processing" on my traeger online order history, customer service couldn't find my order number. I had to email them screen shots of the order from my online account with Traeger, and they still couldn't find it. After more than an hour with the customer service agent that was trying to do their best, they promised me that their supervisors found my order and were expediting it. after another month passed (2 months from when I made the order on 5/31) it had still not arrived. I spent another nearly hour with their customer service on the phone, and they again couldn't find the order. I asked if I could again email screen shots of my order from their website, and was told there was no way to send him an email (even though I did just that a month prior) and instead he would text me a screen sharing link. The text never came. After a few mins he sent it again, and it still didn't come. At this point I was livid, explained to the customer service rep "Adrian" that his company's IT customer service system sucks, and he claimed that is must be my phone because it works with all his other customers. I was livid and demanded to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor "Maryanne (SP)" said she had no problem finding my order on their "different system" and that because the order was never shipped, they never charged me. I explained that I was charged more than 2 months prior, and that I had already paid my Visa CC for it. She argued with me that they only placed a hold and because it was never delivered, I never actually was charged, wich was not true. I finally gave up, got her name, promised to dispute their charge with Visa and would not only never order anything from Traeger online again, I would write this review everywhere I could find. This is my 4 treager grill, I have been very happy with the first three, I purchased this high end Timerline 1300 grill and have had issues already, First it's flaring up. First time I set it at 450 it caught fire. Next time it flared up it was only set to 325. Then it started not reaching the proper temp. Customer service was very nice and helpful but no help . I think he was reading how to help and never able to help me. What I think is the baffle plat that fits over the burner pot is thin cheep and to small. Also the drip pan is thin and does not fit well. Poor design. I paid top dollar and am very disappointed read more

I own a Traeger Ironwood 650. In the first year most of the metal parts rusted out. Traeger won't honor warranties. I spoke to Traeger Corporate and they said since I live in Florida the salt in the air rusted my grill (at the time my grill was just over a year old). I said what about my Weber gas grill it's 15 years old and no rust. They said "we don't know anything about Weber". If you want to purchase a good smoker from a company that stand by their warranty then by a Recteq. Stay away from Traeger. read more

Ok, so where do I start..... Last September or so, I bought my Traeger at the local Costco during one of the Traeger road shows. I heard wonderful things about them. Did the research, they are pricey, but decided to take the plunge and plop down the $750.00 for a new grill and a couple of bags of pellets. Assembly was way harder than the Traeger rep told me it would be. It took me about 4 hours start to finish to get it assembled. Once assembled, I did all the break in "burning" and we made our first meal, a whole chicken. I have to admit, it truly was yummy! Then over the next couple of months we made 4 or five other meals with it and we we actually very happy with the results. Then came the holidays...... We made one of the Ham recipes from a Traeger cookbook. About half way through the process I looked outside to see my grill totally engulfed in flames. I shut the grill down and fortunately salvages most of the ham for Christmas dinner. The grill itself was about 60% destroyed. I called Treager the next day just to find out what happened. The customer service guy way REALLY nice. He said, "Don't worry. We stand behind our product 100%." Wow was I impressed! He told me he would email me instructions on how to make a claim. He even told me he would send me a new thermometer ( my Christmas present one was destroyed by the fire). He did everything as promised! Now, jump ahead to my actually trying to get my Traeger replaced. Per the email, I called Traeger customer service expecting the same service I received right after Christmas. NOPE! I spoke with Frank (Carson) I believe. He did everything from accuse me of shutting my grill off and turning it back on incorrectly (impossible since I was in the house) to not cleaning my grill. Neither of which were correct. He basically made me feel like my grill was unsafe! His attitude was HORRIBLE! He was rude and condescending. A nightmare to work with! I did not get my grill issues resolved until I spoke with his boss Andrew. Way more than I felt was necessary. Fast forward to today. Finally got my new Traeger running again. Had an issue with the smoker temperature. So I called the toll free Traeger customer service line. Low and behold, who answers my call at Traeger customer service? Frank! He is still nasty and ended the conversation with "Hopefully you do not burn your grill up again!" Nice guy! Dude, being a smart aleck didn't exactly earn you any points. You should be ashamed of your self! Bottom line: Love my Traeger. But customer service person Frank is HORRIBLE to work with! Everyone else there is so nice. Why on earth do they keep someone who is supposed to be helping customers, when he has such a horrible and nasty disposition. I will keep my Traeger but hope I NEVER have to speak with Frank again. Worse smoker ever!! We have bought 4 of them with our family and they are so unreliable. They were very expensive and spending over 2000K it is time to move on. We have replaced a motor twice and now we were using our mothers that had not been hardly used, cleaned out to ensure we do not have a fire problem. And once again. Errors on the smoker and no operation. We have had to go to extremes putting out pellet fires that would have taken all night if we did not spend extensive time removing the pellets. 4 smokers..... you would have thought we learned our lesson after the second. read more

TERRIBLE RUN-AROUND, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! We ordered a Traeger Grill at a Costco demo. Went home, did some research and realized we had purchased the wrong grill because we found another brand that reaches a higher temperature and has a sear box option. Called Traeger to cancel, was told there was no order on their records. Called Costco to cancel, was told to call Traeger. Called the Traeger rep (who thankfully had given me his cell phone number) who told me to call Costco. Traeger sent me an email stating that there was no order in their records. Then, we got a call from a shipper saying they were ready to deliver our grill! WHAT? We hadn't even received an emailed tracking number! We told the shipper to return the grill to Traeger because we had canceled the order. We disputed the charge with our credit card company and clearly Traeger never told Costco that our order was canceled -- and Costco just tells us to call Traeger! So now Costco is defending the $606 charge on our credit card, claiming it is a valid charge, even though we did not receive the grill and had canceled the order. This has wasted HOURS of our time! Traeger's customer service needs to improve drastically. We have an EMAIL from them stating that there is no order on file and they STILL ship a grill to us??? They can't tell Costco that the grill that the shipped (after we canceled our order) was returned to them and we should have a refund? BAD customer service. Bought an 855 CENTURY from Costco, was told we could buy a shelf separately. After months of looking and returning shelves that didnt fit, I finally called Traeger. Even THEY didnt know there are TWO 855 models! After 20 minutes on hold, they finally figured out the 855 IRONWOOD is a different size and can accommodate a shelf, but the 855 CENTURY is smaller and cannot! I was in heaven with this grill. Incredible from ease of assembly to wonderful flavored BBQ. I liked it so much I sent my son one. On my 5th BBQ the kettle finish bubbled. I thoroughly cleaned the unit after each use. I emailed Traeger customer service with photos and what happened. Response - we do not monitor the customer service email address. I called customer service. They hooked me up with a phone video and asked me a nu,ber of questions. They are willing to send me a new drum and I have to rebuild the entire unit. I was adamant about not spending money on a Grill that rusts especially on the inside, and that's exactly what I told the sales woman at Costco, then finding out later she lied to me to get the sale by saying there are no rusting parts on their Grills. Just the Drip Pan alone is fully covered in rust, top and bottom. I've used it maybe 5 times at the most in the two yrs I've had it, and always keep it covered and in a very dry weather insulated environment when not in use. Warning to ALL! There is no place to send an email. I really don't want to talk to anyone anymore. I keep getting the same over and over again. I have the jr grill.   I used to love it.    Now I am not sure whatever I'm making on it will get cooked.   I have called you guys a couple of times regarding this and it's always been "make sure it's clean," etc., etc. Well I gave it a good cleaning a couple of months ago.   Vacuumed the whole inside.   Now, first time since cleaning, I'm trying to cook a whole chicken.   The temperature doesn't even reach 350, much less the 450 it's supposed to be.  This is after starting on smoke for five minutes, preheating at 450 for 15 minutes, and cooking for about 15-20 minutes. It's now been cooking for 45 minutes, and temperature still the same. This grill is maybe 5-6 years old.   I purchased it at Costco before I retired.   I have been retired 4-1/2 years.   Even though I really love the bigger grills, I cannot afford to go out and get another grill.   And I don't know where to go to get this fixed, even if I could.   I'm so disappointed.   I love your recipes.   I love the stuff I make on it.   I was hoping to do a turkey at T-Day, but I don't think that's going to be possible.   I'm sitting here watching my chicken cook -- my bluetooth says 90 degrees, supposed to go up to 165, but I think if it's done, it will be very dry. We just bought our second Traeger, this time the WiFire. After using it for only a few months, our new Traeger would turn on just fine, set the temperature, press ignite & then the screen would go blank and shut off. So I called the 800 number and they ran me through all of the things I needed to do, still didn't work. Then the person on the phone told me that I need to do the steps again, this time taking photos of all the steps along the way (unscrewing the face plate display, taking a photo of the wires inside, email it to them... then unscrewing the underside of the where the pellets are held, take a photo & email it to them and on and on). I was on the phone over an hour, with no end in sight.... nothing that they were saying to do was helping! I asked how much longer it would take to figure out what the problem was, she told me that they had to trouble shoot certain things, which I understand... BUT emailing photos constantly? We spent almost a thousand dollars for your product & their customer service is ridiculous, my word should be good enough. Needless to say, after going through this process I was sent a new face plate (electronic screen), the Trager did the same thing! I went through this entire process again.... same out come! I will NEVER by another Traeger! We googled our issue... come to find out, MANY people have this same issue with this exact Traeger! Wish I would've researched this before we spent the money on a new one, we loved our first one, so we were going to stay with it. Never again & I DON'T recommend anyone to buy one. Wow. We should have read the reviews before buying. We used it once and the paint started bubbling off (see pics) and now it is starting to rust. $600 and used once. So, we call traeger because it's only a few days old and it's under warranty, surely they'll resolve it, right? No. They told us, "it's cosmetic and is not covered by warranty" and "to buy a can of high temperature paint and fix it ourselves..." NO, NO, NO. I know what you are thinking already. BS, right? No company in their right mind would say that, so there must be something more to the story. Sadly, it is true. There is nothing more to the story than what was stated. They told us to basically go pound sand. This unit is days old people. Days old! I feel like I am in the darn twilight zone. Or maybe the the pimpbot from Conan Obrien? "Does not compute, does not compute, does not compute.." Listen, I love buying US made products and being from the pacific northwest, I love buying products made in the PNW. I've had my Traeger for quite sometime and love it!!! I've cooked everything from ribs, steaks, Mac n cheese, bread, even cake. I swear by my Traeger and wouldn't cook with anything else. People ask me why I would cook a steak on a Traeger. I have the same answer every time. Flavor baby! Plus a Traeger steak is much more juicy than a charcoal steak. My question to those people is, "Why would you like direct flame touch your steak?" It's burns out the flavor and drys out the juices. Once you have a Traeger steak you'll never have it any other way. Give Traeger a try and you'll see what I'm talking about. If you wanna smoke or slow cook then set the temp low and slow. You wanna grill those awesome Traeger rib eyes? Then crank up to high. You just can't beat a Traeger. Cooking with all natural wood is the only way to go. read more

I finally bought a TRAEGER!!! Yeah about time right. Well down here in San Diego, you won't know about them really. There aren't may stores that sell them other than Dixieline Lumber. My dad up in Oregon has one, along with all of the hunting and fishing buddies. I came into the store to buy the Lil Tex Grill today and I left with the Lil Tex ELITE! The Lil Tex doesn't have the digital thermostat, which you totally need! :) So if you buy the standard Lil Tex, you have to buy the $99 digital thermostat. The ELITE comes with it for $100 more than the Lil Tex price tag. Also, the Elite has a $90 rebate, which rocked!! Took it home today, fired it up and let it burn for about 45 minutes. I'm ready to use this thing as much as possible. Thanksgiving will be awesome this year. TURKKEEEYY!! First meal we cooked on it, chicken breasts in a big foil pan. Made chicken fettucini Alfredo. I'm a certified BBQ Judge and found the following; The new portable Traeger Ranger seems to be not well thought out. All the cooking directions are for the large units and over cook everything in the smaller unit. All the pellet smoke is wasted, it is drawn out the back vent and very little ever reaches what you're cooking. They have a grease bucket on the back that is supposed to catch the grease but doesn't, Grease coats the inside of the bbq and runs down the sides and out of the grill landing on whatever you have the grill on. We purchased a Timberline 1300 from Nebraska Furniture Mart on Memorial Day 2020. We assembled the grill and began turning out consistently good results. Labor Day weekend the grill overran temperature by over 300 degrees. We have called Traeger customer service for five weeks without a satisfactory resolution. They finally sent a new temperature probe, albeit the wrong one that won't fit and has the wrong connectors. Even though our digital controller won't update, they refuse to push the update or send a new controller. $2k for a beautiful smoker that doesn't work. read more
