I just came back from Trafalgar Costsaver Peru plus lake TitiCaca.
I submitted this review to Trafalgar customer relationship manager and ask them to verify. This manager told me to wait for one month for investigation. She came back to me after 35 days and did not mention any issues I submitted. I tried to send email back to her, both her emails addresses were blocked and I could not send the emails back after multiple tries. I had no other choice to post my review here.
1. Subcontractor - Viajes Pacifico
Three days before the trip, I sent email to Viajes Pacifico regarding to how to meet the tour director in the Hotel La Hacienta, Lima. I didn't receive answer after 24 hours. I had to make an international call to reach them.
2. The Tour Director - Kelly G.
- For the entire trip, the tour director Kelly Gil never started a day by telling what would be the major events or related timeframe. We did not know the lunch would be at 2:00pm. We did not prepare for any snacks.
- For the entire trip on the bus, the tour director never talked about the anything about Peru. I realized that her job was only to distribute the flight tickets.
- The first welcome diner was at Mango's in Lima on June 30, 2018. The food was so so, the beef was hard to chew. The dissert was sugar saturated local dessert. Some of the guests got fresh fruit cup. I asked Kelly:" May I have the fruit cup?" " I can not do more changes!" She shouted me back. I didn't touch the dessert and gave it back to the waitress.
If customer have no choice on the dishes, Trafalgar should inform them in advance.
- On July 2, 2018, we were taken to Ollantaytambo by bus. After visited a local house, the director told us that we had one hour on our own then to meet her at the center plaza. Instead, we did not have anything to do for another two hours. Suddenly, at 12:30 pm, the tour director yelled:" You are not hungry. We change lunch time and location. We go back to Cuzco to have lunch!"
We were put back on the bus and didn't have lunch until about 3 pm. It was around 3 pm, the bus stopped, the tour director suddenly said:" This is lunch place. Everyone pays S/55!"
The restaurant is Alta Inca that in the middle of the mountain. Regardless the guest age, everyone must pay for S/55 cash. No guest believed that was right but had no choice. The restaurant has VISA card sign on the wall, but they only took cash that day. I also find out later that the lunch buffet price was S/40. Why the director told everyone was S/55? The different 55-40=15 sol went into the tour director's pocket? Please verify.
Since only cash was accepted, a lot guest ended their Peruvian cash. Trafalgar needs to inform customers in advance for this kind of situation.
- Extra tour- I was interested to participate the extra tour in Cuzco. I talked about that with Kelly on June 29th, 2018. Kelly said:" It needs four people to start." So I said :" When you have four people, Please let me know." The day before, Kelly told me that there would be 5 people, it can make the trip. After observed Kelly forced entire group to eat at Alta Inca. I decided not to take the tour anymore. I told Kelley I would not go anymore the night before. "Even you don't go, you must pay for it! I told you seven times!" She yelled at me again.
In reality, she never told me that the tour can not be cancelled.
Trafalgar needs to inform customers in advance if the tour can not be cancelled.
3. Hotel Locations: except in Lima and Cuzco, both hotels La Casona de Yucay and Hotel Taypikala Lago are at least 35-40 minutes bus drive from commercial center. When the guests are back in hotel in the evening, there was no restaurants close by. Guests had to eat in the hotel dining room.
Trafalgar should inform customer in advance.
4. Meals:
- Trafalgar's itinerary indicates that dinners or lunches are fully included. Except the first meal, the lunches and dinners in Cuzco and Lake Titicaca did not include drinks neither the bottle water. The bottle water is sol/1.5 in the store. We were charged sol/7 for each bottle of water. Trafalgar needs to be honest to tell customer that the drinks are not included in the meal. read more
