What a great find. We were looking for a good breakfast spot and definitely found one. We were able to be seated immediately but we arrived with a rush of several large parties and had to wait a little longer for our food than usual, but without a doubt worth the wait. The staff was very friendly and attentive and apologized for the wait time. We ordered the Florentine and the veggie omelettes. We would recommend both. The home fries were to die for! Ordered the Grilled Cheese with Bacon on Challah bread with a side of Chili, most because it was the next best thing to tomato soup. This Cafe is like Clark Kent after he transforms into Superman. It was very clean and had a solid assortment of menu options. I am also gong to say there is some Jewish heritage to the owners due to the fact that they have Homemade Potato Pancakes & Challah which isn't common in these parts. So I was very excited to see that! The staff was very friendly, but just know its old school. So that means they approach you when the menu goes down and bring the check when you push your plate to the side to symbolize your finished with the feast. My parents moved to Naples almost 20 years ago and the Trail Cafe has been our breakfast spot when I come visit for as long as I can remember. I used to rave about this place as a hidden gem and direct anyone going to the area to check them out. Their egg scrambles were always hot and fresh, they had some delicious and somewhat creative flavors of french toast, their oatmeal was thick and hearty and totally legit and their baked goods were delicious. Plus, their staff was always super kind and friendly to my parents which goes a long way with me. Unfortunately, times have changed and so have the managers at this place....several times over. The staff is still kind, but they're clearly not treated great by management and the current owner just doesnt seem to care as much. Gone are the fresh-baked muffins that would drive people in for miles and in their place are pastries brought in from the outside. The menu's been pared down just a bit, but it lost some of its charm in the process. The food is still good, it's just not 5-star great. Would I recommend you check this place out if you're thinking about coming here? Yup, absolutely, you'll get a solid, perfectly fine meal. It's been super OK, we were regulars and kept coming back especially for the banana foster French toast. Ever since they hired this waitress the couple times we went she refused to add on banana foster on our order "because she wasn't allowed" wasn't surprised she didn't go to ask. She's the Hispanic lady with short black hair, very aggressive and not customer friendly. I came back & no surprise she is still working there. We have tried this quint place more than 6 or more times. It's convenient to where we live, which explains why they have customers. It's close to a gated community so you don't have to drive into Naples. But. It's a sorry excuse. Ordered many breakfasts including Eggs Benedict many times. Love being pleasantly surprised at this great find at the end of a strip mall off of a Main Road, 41. You would never expect such a comfy atmosphere. The home like Decor coupled with friendly service started our breakfast with many smiles. Menu is creative, yet traditional. I liked the make your own skillets. This is an attractively decorated breakfast and lunch place that we enjoyed on a recent stay in Naples. They offer a very broad breakfast menu however we arrived just before noon and their breakfast ends earlier in the morning. No worries in that they have an equally large choice of lunch items. My wife had their creative take on a chicken salad sandwich ($9.99), chunks of white meat chicken with grapes, pecans, celery, mayo and "special spices", including a side of sweet potato fries. They offer a large choice of breads that we were advised are fresh daily. I had a patty melt ($9.99) on grilled sourdough bread. It was good but their grill person needs to be a bit more aggressive. The burger portion was exactly as ordered (medium) but lacked the outside color / caramelization as did the grilled bread that makes it appear more appealing and tasty too. Turn up the grill; the food won't get away from you. BTW, the fries served with it were perfectly cooked; crispy with creamy centers! We like to support local places and Trail Café offers personal and excellent service and we wouldn't hesitate to visit again whenever we're in Naples. read more

This is a hidden treasure in North Naples. I live within a mile and drive past it everyday but it took my neighbor's recommendation to get me to stop. What a great surprise. It is very clean and furnished simply but appealing. The server was with us almost immediately and checked back serveral times. The real treat is the food. It is delicious and reasonably priced. Maybe it's due to their limited COVID menu, but there wasn't a good variety and the food was expensive. I paid $9 for a breakfast sandwich with no sides. There was no kids menu so my kids split a 2 eggs your way, one piece of toast and two pieces of bacon for $12. The best part was there was no "small drink" option even though they had kids cups so we paid $6.50 for two very small milks. I asked the waiter who said he asked the owner who said "that's how we charge." So my kids essentially split a large milk and got charged for two. I get it that everyone is trying to stay afloat during these times but this was absolutely ridiculous. The food was good but not for the price. We will not be returning here. read more

We walked in, expecting it to be diner-ish, since, in the past, they served breakfast and lunch. Boy, were we wrong! It looked elegant. Our server, Paul, was friendly and attentive, not pushy, seemed very professional (he was not a teenager!). He never called us "guys" (which I hate!). The bread was brought fresh and hot. The portions are large and the price is right for the portion size. I had the branzino, which came with Parmesan risotto, baby spinach (sauteed). It was delicious - and I brought some of the leftover fish home. My husband and my friend's husband both had salmon which came with a large portion of rice. My friend had the seafood pasta, which had lots of mussels and a lot of pasta in a delicious-looking cheese sauce (she took some pasta home, too!). The desserts sounded great - chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, creme brulee with fruit, key lime pie but we were all too full to have any. We all thought our dinners were great and we'll return. Hitting the Trail and moving along after a few years of actually liking this place. Sadly after eatting here with my lovely girlfriend we aren't impressed anymore. I am a firm believer now that if you see anyone in here above the age of 60 and you're age range is from 18 to 40 the food isn't much of anything. It's just too basic and greasy. Sorry, but I'd like to see some sort of ownership to be present and run his or her actual kitchen. I will say the servers are very accommodating to what the "cooks" put out. We began going to Trail about eight years ago when the original owners ran it and always found it to be good. They offered a lovely breakfast and had the BEST tuna salad! Being a cook/restaurant owner myself, I could never figure out why it was so good. They claimed it had seasonings but if so, they were not discernible. I finally settled on the idea that the reason it was so good was due to the tuna brand. Today a friend and I decided to try it in spite of her warnings that it was only so-so. I should have listened. The wonderful tuna salad was no more. Instead, it was a coarse, chunky concoction with chunks of celery, scallion and according to the menu description: pickle relish. I called over the manager and told her of my disappointment in the meal; the tuna salad had changed (there was half a portion uneaten) and the "homemade" chips (wrong: read food service chips warmed) were scorched and untouched. Answer: "the tuna is the same as it always was." No comment on the full plate of obviously scorched chips. Now, let's dissect that reply. What she is really saying is that I am either lying or I am too stupid to know the difference. Neither is true. She said "sorry about that" - a ridiculous, insincere phrase used by people when they have no excuse for wrong doing. Because I was with a friend and didn't want to embarrass her, I refrained from asking , "Just how sorry are you?" Not sorry enough, apparently, as she charged me for scorched chips anyway. Here, dear eaters, is the moral: DO NOT miss an opportunity to voice your opinion on the food. As a restaurant owner, I can tell you it is a great injustice to lead the restaurant owner to believe that one is satisfied when one is not. How else will they know? If you bought a pair of stockings and opened them to find one had a run in it, would you not take it back and complain? Restaurants are no different. They are selling you a product and you must expect full measure. There is nothing to be ashamed of by sending back a dish or commenting on it to management. If you were eating in France and received unsatisfactory food, you would just get up and leave without paying. If the owner complained, you would call the police who would back you to the hilt. Every time I come to Naples I come here for breakfast. In fact, my family goes almost daily. Literally, daily! The team at Trail Cafe are amazing. Ana is just so friendly and welcoming, Chris is so kind and efficient. Everyone is friendly, the coffee is hot and tasty and the food is superb. I love the Trail Scramble with broccoli, mushroom, sausage, bacon and American Cheese. I like mine with egg whites but, it's great with eggs. Their Benedict's are amazing. Perfectly poached eggs and a flavorful and perfect hollandaise. The space is clean, bright and comfortable. They usually have a line of cars waiting for them to open at 9:00am. It's not a place you would notice driving by but, it is a place that is worth finding! read more

Highly recommended! Such a cute little place, but a little hidden. Even though it is on Tamiami rd, it's not in a spot where you would really see it driving by. With that, it may be less crowded than other places, but don't let that be the reason you don't go. They have some really creative food items on the menu which makes this stand out from the rest. It's not a cut and dry generic menu. I enjoyed the special dish of the day, which was a breakfast sandwich. It was 2 waffles made from sweet potatoes, which sweet and crispy fried chicken inside. Some people may not see that as breakfast, but all the ingredients and the waffles...definitely ok for breakfast or brunch. Kind of like an upscale chicken waffle.
